So obviously the carrier versions are IP68 rated, and the unlocked is not.
Is there any real difference? Like, obviously they are essentially the same models, but do the individual carrier phones go through a separate manufacturing process, or additional testing?

The unlocked version isn't IP68 for real, because it doesn't support the 1.5m depth water immersion test. See this video for what it's able to take :

Yep, it can even handle accidental immersion in the sink, but won't survive if you drop it in a pool

It looks promising, but I have a 5x clip on lens that doesn't work very well at all. For $25 it's probably worth a gamble but I wanted to try to ask here first.

What do you mean? What does the weight of the phone have to do with anything?
The lens is mounted to the case that comes with it as far as I can see, if you're worried about the weight of the phone being a bit too much for the whole construction... I'd say the phone should be able to care a lot more then it's own weight.

I hope this is a flawed device and not an indicator of the way Samsung does business.
The video also explains it, it's not a flaw.

I've watched it a few times and it doesn't. I've got a pretty good grasp of physics so I think it's safe to say there's no liquid in there. I'll draw it out for you. Any vapor in the chamber would have to be 1) heated or not a liquid at room temp, 2) not mitigate the heat in gaseous state. Liquid/Vapor chambers work when the liquid mitigates the heat (heating it up to a gas state) and then runs up the tube to the cooler area of the heatsink (welcome to entropy) and then recondenses. This is how they work. Without any liquid at room temperature it very obviously is not a liquid cooled chamber. If it's not a flaw then Samsung is basically a company willing to blatantly lie to increase their sales.
Easy fellas! You're both right. As the video explains, the s7 has a "heat pipe" rather than liquid cooling. From my perspective, as long as it does its job, I couldn't care less, but it is interesting that sammy represented it as liquid whereas it is not....

It seems to be working perfectly fine for most who have the device in hand except for the few reporting overheating during VR. My concern would be the inconsistency in both Samsung's message and the product. For all practical purposes it might not matter.

:highfive: Excellent. If all the phones function that way it's a moot point.
Is it possible all of the liquid is actually contained within the copper fibers and thus not visible? I would assume there's not very much as it would expand when It became a gas. Just throwing out ideas. By contained I mean, essentially stuck to.
The samsung engineer in China already explained it, there is 0.02 g water or cooling liquid inside and when you cut the pipe, they already vaporized.

Curious if this turns out to be overheating throttling or just poor software and RAM management:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=MQ8pTGCcW7A
Guessing the latter. 820 is suppose to run cooler, heat pipe, more RAM than the other android phones.

Where did you find this info?
So I'm guessing that people would rather have notable amounts of water/liquid sealed inside of a $800+. In the even an excessive shock causing the tubing to fail and in turn fry internal component's. To each their own, but I'm comfortable with what the component is capable of doing for what it is......... My .2 cents.

Anyone have light leakage on the sides of the phone where the glass meets the frame?
I just saw the thread on this in the main Note 7 forum. I checked my Black Onyx Sprint Note 7 and saw no light leakage on any sides.

Interesting. It doesn't bother me at all. Would there be any detrimental effects that you know of besides aesthetics? I don't want to exchange it just to get another model just like it. Like I said, I've seen three copies and all had the same light leakage.

None that I'm aware but could be wrong. I am of the mind that as much as I paid for this phone, it should have no aesthetic issues, but that's just me.

Nice, but looking at the renders, I have my doubts... Specifically, the visibly curved back doesn't look quite right to me, given the position of the accessory power pads. But anyway, I'd be happy to see PH-2.
It's not real. Just someone doing renders on what they want a PH-2 to look like.

Of course it's not real, no question about it... But there may be different sources for the info that gives people ideas for such renders. Some leaks may be credible, others not. The thing is that we don't know; it's all just speculations at this point.
That phone has essential branding all over it while the original ph1 doesn't....
3.5mm jack! LOL
I can't see price being anywhere near that, it'll be min $600, I'd think.
but I would like some minimilist branding

The only part I don't like about a curved screen is having to use a LOCA-based screen protector if you want to use tempered glass. Well, that and the side edges of most cases don't provide as much protection as the top and bottom edges since they are usually lowered to facilitate swiping.

The most major is that the quality tempered glass screen protectors for curved screens are harder to install, and there are not as many, again I would say "quality", choices available.
The second is that it's just an unusable part of the screen. Definitely my only complaint about the Pixel 6 Pro - the curve, inside an OtterBox Defender (Pro) case, made it very difficult to operate things from either side edge of the screen.
On the Pixel 7 Pro, with it's reduced curve, it's tons better, but I still don't see any advantage of having the curve versus not having one.
Ninja'd by @Lughnasadh again. LOL!

Yes, please. The Pixel 7 Pro is barely wider than my Pixel 6. Why they bothered with curved edges is beyond me. When those curves catch a glare it reduces the viewable area of the screen which makes buying a larger screen pointless. I am dealing with it so I can have the extra lens, but this curved screen infuriates me at times.
I will do my best to bring the 411 through a VPN tether tunneled through an encrypted SSL through a onion browser on a hotspot from my father's brother's nephews cousins former roommate.
Very similar to the old telephone in the shoe trick. Good thinking Max!
I don't actually mind the curve on my 7 Pro. I even found one niche use case I didn't think about - it makes it easier to move icons between home screens because I just have to drag it into the curve and it jumps screens.
My Spigen Tough Armor provides ample protection. I haven't used a screen protector since the HTC Mogul as I can't stand having something over the screen.
I do agree that Pixels need to return to Qualcomm but it won't ever happen so I'm glad the modem is at least fine for me.
