pixel 4a palm rejection issues - Google Pixel 4a Guides, News, & Discussion

I'm accidentally pressing the edges of display. Anyone else having this issue? Or is it just me. Feel like Android always has bugs concerning palm rejection handling compared to iPhone.
I'm coming from a xs max

I have noticed this, as well, with my wife's 4a. I have a Pixel 3, and I've never had the same issue with it.

Issue continues to persist particularly on bottom left of display. Will need to return device sadly... Unfortunate

I had this happen occasionally the first day I had the phone using it without a case. Once I put a case on (Spigen rugged armor) I'm no longer having the issue. The case has just enough of a lip to prevent my palm from touching the screen especially during one hand use. A thicker case would likely help even more if it's a constant issue for you.

Yeah good call. I figured it out. It was an issue with blokada app that was bugging out the keyboard. Regardless I removed it since It tracks your data. No palm rejection issues I'm seeing currently. Issue can be closed on my end

Call/Home button raised despite no drops!

Hey,
I was just curious, has anyone had a problem with the call/home side of the navigation panel raising slightly on your Touch Pro? I haven't dropped the phone at all, yet this started to occur after 2-3 days of having the phone, I'm tempted to take it back, but when I make a call, it simply pops back down. If it becomes a reoccuring problem I'm definitely going to take it back to Sprint; however, before doing so I was just wondering if anyone else had this issue, simply so I can label it as a manufacturing defect, not carelessness, which I'm sure Sprint will immediately think. Thanks in advance for any help, guys/gals.
Greg
I have had this problem. It started to really annoy me so i took it back to bb, plus the way mine was sticking out i felt that some type of dust or debris would get stuck inside the phone.
Well I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who experienced this problem, I have reason to believe it might have been caused when I took off the plastic coating originally on the front face of the phone, and the adhesion to those keys raised it a bit, cause I know I haven't dropped it at all. Thanks for the reply though.

How are your phones holding up?

I've noticed that the slider functionality of my phone, possibly due to user-abuse, is starting to slide off the rails*. I've also noticed that the top is beginning to extend over the bottom... on the side with the PTT button. Is this my fault, or is everyone else having the same problem.
*To define: hold the phone in your hand, and place your thumb on the bottom-left corner of the top "slider-part", (could someone give me the word that should be used in place of "slider-part") push toward the right... Does the bottom, of the top, of your phone slide out by itself? Mine only moves about an 1/8th of an inch, but I'm curious if everyone shares this problem as well.
My phone slides out about the same 1/8 as yours, but i think it was like that even when it was brand new.
Yes it does happen to me, nothing perfect...it's just the sliding mechanism moving on one side and not the other..
I have the same movement on mine. My fuze is 7 weeks old, I use the sliding mechanism, on average, 3 times a day.
When I received my phone I double checked the sliding mechanism - the same movement was present when new. Based on other posts, this appears to be normal.
Other than that, my fuze is doing well. I purchased the ATT store cover (rubberized cover in two pieces) which is really good (although expensive ). I do find that the rubberized cover makes it difficult to put into my trouser pocket, thus I tend to carry it everywhere I go...
I've had that issue since I got it in Nov last year. Other than that, it's working and looking perfectly well. I should also note that I have an invisible shield that's working wonders for the phone. With it installed, I get a better grip on the phone (doesn't feel like I'm going to drop it), obviously no scratches, and fingerprint issues are far less severe.
My first phone slid off the rails too so I called AT&T and they sent me a reconditioned one. Now the slider on the new one actually pulls away from the main body. So I called AT&T again and they are sending me a another phone. Fingers crossed......
The play in the rails seems normal... I do about 4,500 texts a month... so slide open, slide closed over and over again... still holding strong had the Touch Pro since November of 08
My first kaiser (tilt) had that overhang when closed. It bothered me a lot. AT&T wouldn't exchange it, so I superglued a thin, tiny square of vinyl to the bumper at the end of the track to act like a shim, leaving the top and bottom flush when closed. The next two warranty exchanges I got (for other issues) had no such issue, and thankfully, neither does my fuze.
im uber careful with my phone but its so fragile its just breaking apart. the hard keys are coming up, the slider is now over like everyone else, there are small scratches everywhere, and kinda weird is the camera glass is broken around the edges.
My phone is holding up well with the rubberized cover
Holding up well to date, but seldom use the keyboard as have grown accustomed to using FITALY on the Fuze.
Also am using Capdase BiFold case for general protection + top shell of Innocase to help ward off the laminate separation that some users have complained of. (Also helps keep things from resting on the screen.)
May be Overkill, but hope to have this unit for some time....

Thin case screwing up touchscreen and microphones?!?!

So I've had the phone since the first month it was out. Everything's been great except lately my screen sensitivity and accuracy is absolute garbage and my speakerphone mic's pick up almost no audio. I have a glass screen protector on it but I've had that since day 2 and it's been perfect.
After flashing every kernal and rom I could find with no success, my very non-technical girlfriend said it might be my case. I almost disregarded it as impossible but low and behold the last two ultra thin bumper cases have been destroying my speakerphone and video recording audio and my latest case absolutely kills my touchscreen too! Sometimes I'll just let the phone sit there on the table and the screen will start opening apps and clicking/scrolling around completely on it's own!
Here are the 'clothing' items I've used for my phone:
- Glass screen cover which has worked perfect in the long past, been on the whole time, even now - http://goo.gl/0Upo60
- This case seems to work fine - http://goo.gl/gjdS4c
- This aluminum bumper works fine albeit sharp edges - http://goo.gl/Tpsuo1
Here are the ones I've been using the past 2.5 months that have made my OnePlus experience go downhill really fast:
- This case ruins speakerphone mic's but I didn't notice any touch issues - http://goo.gl/oBlxCb
- This case destroys speakerphone mic's and touch screen goes completely a fritz! - http://goo.gl/ThtLZP
I Just discovered this and there doesn't seem to be any information on it. Removing the case seems to have solved all problems but I can't even fathom how a semi-rubber or hard plastic case can cause such problems. Am I missing something? Has anyone else experienced this?

less responsive touch

So I got my OnePlus 7 pro today and have noticed that the keyboard is less responsive while typing especially near the sides of the curved schedule. Let's like "a" and "p/l" take a couple of attempts before they register. I'm coming from a OnePlus 6t and never had this sort of issue. Anyone else noticing this?
I definitely felt typing is isn't as good as my 6T
Heck at times it's for for downright cumbersome. Like typing this out took forever. This is a huge disappointment and I'm surprised none of the reviews mentioned this. I'm thinking of returning the phone because of the unresponsive touchscreen. Also wondering if my unit is defective...
Interesting I thought it had something to do with my screen protector ummmm

Are you sure this isnt something that was intended? I mean, maybe they did this so it wouldnt get these random touches om the edges? Im not noticing this tho om my 7 pro.. i mean its there but not an issue som far since i never put my finger that far to the edges while typing ?
Ok so I installed a tempered glass screen protector as soon as I got the phone before even turning it on. Thinking that might be the culprit, I took it off and noticed a huge improvement. Guess I will be using the phone without a screen protector. I tried to feel if there is a preinstalled protector like one that came with the 6t but I don't really see it on the OnePlus 7 pro. But based on a Google search OnePlus 7 pro does come with a preinstalled protector. So guess the glass protector not really necessary anyways.
If this screen comes from the same series as Note 8, then it could be the protector you might be using. I don't have this issue. I'm using the film protector it came with.

Question Phone randomly (frequently) failing to register touch.

Hi all,
Two brand new Google-sealed 6a phones just bought from amazon exhibiting the same problem.
The problem is that the phone/screen, sometimes fails to recognize touch inputs, especially at the edges. I just made a screen recording with the "show touches on screen" option enabled for clarity.
Please check the video I've just recorded, here.
As you can see, while I'm repeatedly touching the bottom left screen corner (still well inside the "touch" area), sometimes the phone stops registering the touch(es) for a second or so (sometimes less, sometimes more).
This happens with factory reset phones (two), no apps whatsoever, on A12/A13/QPR1.
If this is a HW problem with my phone, I'll return it and try another one as I really like it (but "can't live" with this problem as it affects usage - especially when using three-button navigation).
Could someone please make a quick test (recording), try to repro this and let me know the outcome?
Thanks a lot!
do you have any protective case or protective glass on the phone?
I've noticed that, after adding case and glass, sometimes touch seems less sensitive near the corners, in my case especially the bottom right one.
Try enabling "Increase Touch Sensitivity" under Settings > Display and check if it does any good.

Same over here, less sensitivity in the corners. I'm on latest October Android 13 version, using Spigen tempered glass screen protector and "Increase Touch Sensitivity" activated
There is a post on Pixel subreddit about this issue, many user are experiencing this issue, both on Android 13 and 12.
oh, wow. same here.
(and all the time i thought it was "just me" (or rather my device), but not worth investigating further (as in, trying to get a replacement, as it’s not THAT often). in a way that’s a relief to hear that apparently i’m not the only one then.)
Same issue. Not all the time, but happens noticeably often every day. No cases or screen protectors yet.
Sometimes my inputs don't register even when they're about a centimeter from the edge of the display. Weird stuff.
Gonna try to enable increased touch sensitivity, see if that does any good.
I don't use any case or screen protector (increasing sensitivity doesn't help).
bought a 3rd unit, this time from Amazon.de (the other two came from Amazon.de) and the problem is still there. This being said, I find it hard to believe this isn't affecting all 6as. Returned the 3rd one... Ridiculous.
