Thin case screwing up touchscreen and microphones?!?! - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've had the phone since the first month it was out. Everything's been great except lately my screen sensitivity and accuracy is absolute garbage and my speakerphone mic's pick up almost no audio. I have a glass screen protector on it but I've had that since day 2 and it's been perfect.
After flashing every kernal and rom I could find with no success, my very non-technical girlfriend said it might be my case. I almost disregarded it as impossible but low and behold the last two ultra thin bumper cases have been destroying my speakerphone and video recording audio and my latest case absolutely kills my touchscreen too! Sometimes I'll just let the phone sit there on the table and the screen will start opening apps and clicking/scrolling around completely on it's own!
Here are the 'clothing' items I've used for my phone:
- Glass screen cover which has worked perfect in the long past, been on the whole time, even now - http://goo.gl/0Upo60
- This case seems to work fine - http://goo.gl/gjdS4c
- This aluminum bumper works fine albeit sharp edges - http://goo.gl/Tpsuo1
Here are the ones I've been using the past 2.5 months that have made my OnePlus experience go downhill really fast:
- This case ruins speakerphone mic's but I didn't notice any touch issues - http://goo.gl/oBlxCb
- This case destroys speakerphone mic's and touch screen goes completely a fritz! - http://goo.gl/ThtLZP
I Just discovered this and there doesn't seem to be any information on it. Removing the case seems to have solved all problems but I can't even fathom how a semi-rubber or hard plastic case can cause such problems. Am I missing something? Has anyone else experienced this?

Extreme Guard for HTC Sensation

I just wanted to post my experience using Extreme Guard on my Sensation.
Installation took about 25 minutes, overall it wasn't that hard.
The most challenging aspect/cons were:
1. The small holes for the microphones/noise reduction are so small and hard to remove without stretching the plastic or making the plastic look kind of white/funny.
2. I am not sure if it was just my cutout piece but the middle back section wasn't pre-cut very well and I ended up with some jagged edges on the back because of this.
3. The screen protector looks slightly beat up on angles after 2 days. This is mostly my fault as the rubbery texture does feel really nice and I would tap my nails on it kind of just holding the phone. I realized after at an angle I can now see a scuffed up surface on the coating.
4. No protection for the outer rims on the phone.
5. Make sure to remove the plastic where any tiny holes are our it WILL effect your audio quality. (at first I missed the microphone hole and thought my mic was bad cause people complained how I sounded) this was fixed as soon as I removed the cover from that small hole.
Now for the Pros:
1. Installation overall went smooth.
2. Once it cures although it looks shiny and doesn't have 100% coverage it does make the phone feel alot more solid and gripable(honestly I though I would drop the phone with it's standard material.
3. The touch screen works fine with the thicker material over it but does have a slightly rubbery feeling.
4. At first I thought it looked horrible and I messed the whole thing up. I followed directions and used soap and water to apply. It was hazy some slight air bubbles and overall looked horrible in all aspects. I let it go for about 2-3 days and as promised it dried out and there is no more bubbles or haziness. I am really impressed how it turned around, it's really a snug clear fit on the phone.
Overall I would suggest getting this if you don't mind the glossy look and the lack of coverage around the rim of the phone. I think the grip alone will save the phone from a nasty fall and certainly protect the screen if dropped.
I hope this helps someone. I can't post a link because I am new here but you can easily find it on ebay.
Pics or it didn't happen
Ill see what I can do for pix...I sold my old phone so this will be a challenge as I don't have a digital cam. However I am noticing the screen protector through use is getting slight marks in the plastic from my nails. I don't have long nails at all...just normal length for a Guy but just the slight tapping on the screen(protector) causes visible marks when the screen is dimmed.

Lifeproof clone from ebay review

Part 1
I got it for around 22 dollars with free shipping from china on ebay. There are quite a few listings for it.
First, it's obviously a fake. My wife has a real lifeproof iphone5 (yes I live in a split household). Her lifeproof has some rubbery aspects to it, this one's rubber is a bit more stiff and isn't as pliantthis one is made all of plastic. The clip at the bottom is slightly loose, but it has a similiar rubber in-lay to keep the phone dry.
Up close of the front. Came with a sticker over the prior galaxy s3 (lol). You can see I pealed it off to see what it said.
Back
The front of the box opens up with a flap. The middle image is what's on the top flap. The bottom is the main box - a window into what the case looks like.
Opening it, we have the case and this card is behind the case itself. There is a waterproof earplug adapter of course.
Inside of the top aspect of the case.
Everything inside of the box. A small manual.
Top and bottom parts put together.
Placing it in water and putting a couple double shots on top to keep the case down.
After taking off the double shots, it rose to the top, no visible water inside of it.
I found no water after 6-7 minutes minutes of submersion with 2 double shots on top
Fake lifeproof next to Seidio Obex
Part 2 I will report sound quality after using it for a couple days.
Stay tuned! Ask any questions I'll try to answer them for you.
Took about 3 weeks to get it.
As far as the two cases go, I prefer the obex at this point. It's rubber is softer and has a better feel. Although I complain about Obex's easily damaged case and protector, I think this one is no better. I just shouldn't put expensive cases with my keys ever. Although I never had a problem with keys + defender or keys + tpu case / cheap screen protector - so go figure.
For 22 dollars and waiting 3 weeks, it's cheap.
Since I use my phones for work and work tends to get a bit messy, I need splash protection and shock protection, running up stairs, bodily fluids splashing etc. Also the occasional cell phone drop into the urinal or toliet has occured.
My phones are warrantied through verizon, so I don't mind taking the chance with this case. Hopefully, I don't loose a device to water damage lol.
How is the audio quality? The obex i had on my s3 produced horrible audio quality.

Sound is okay, minimally diminished but it's better than the obex. Don't get the vibration type sound interference.
The distance from the screen to the screen protector feels about 2-3 mm's. Doesn't register all touches easily and well, it's a bit further than my wife's life proof.
Cut outs are spot on.
The back of the case has a bit of design. After feeling the case more, there isn't really any rubberized parts. it's just more plastic. Compared to my wife's definitely cheaply made - as to be expected.
Unlike the seidio obex where they use a rubber overlay on the home button - the home button on this lifeproof knockoff is just covered by the screen protector albeit it's black with a circle around it. My wife's lifeproof iphone5 is similiar but has an indention to the home button.
The volume rocker and power buttons are slightly off and take about 2-3 hard pushes to get a response.
Haven't had a chance to take a call with it yet. Will test it later today.
Had a couple phone calls. People can hear me without a problem. Haven't noticed any issues with it.
So in regards to the positives:
1) Sound seems to be basically intact, both microphone/speaker.
2) Waterproof - Case does appear to have the same or similiar waterproofing sponge-like material for the seals.
3) Cheap
Negatives:
1) Cheaply made (lol) compared to the real life proof, no rubber aspects to the external case.
2) Clip at bottom doesn't clip in as tightly as I would want it to, might just be this case though.
3) The Volume rocker is in the right place but needs a harder than usual push on it to work, so you'll push it 2 to 3 times to get it to respond.
4) The Power button is situated feels 0.5 mm to 1 mm below where it should be and also requires harder pushing.
5) Screen protector doesn't come in contact with the phone directly, there is about 2 mm gap, most of the touches register, about 95 percent or so. If you touch something at the edge, it's more lightly it won't register.
What I didn't test:
1) the water test for 1 hour, I did it for about 6-7 minutes like the obex recommended.
2) any drops, the plastic seems a bit brittle and stuff, I imagine that the case would probably crack or break, possibly transmit shock forces directly to the phone - doubt it's 6 feet drop rated as a knock off.
Compared to the Obex:
Prefer the obex, feels better in hand, better screen response. Sound is a little off on the obex, but I do think it offers better protection from a real fall and serious submersions.
Recommendation:
I would recommend this case for anyone who's on a budget <25 dollars and wants something that's going to be basically waterproof.
Otherwise, go find something else - bfree? Obex? Or wait for the real lifeproof to come out.

[Q] How water permeable is the Nexus 5 speaker?

Question for all of you; I just got a case (Diztronic) and a couple of screen protectors for my new Nexus 5
One of the screen protectors I got was the Xtreme Guard type (very wet application type). I have used this type before, though I always worried that using a lot of water to apply it could possibly get into the phone and damage it.
After I applied it (while turned off, of course), I didn't quite like it (I know you're supposed to wait a few days, but I was impatient, and another brand is coming in the mail, the overly-priced Zagg model), so I removed it, cleaned the screen, shook the phone a bit to try to get any water out that might have gotten into the speaker hole, blew air from some canned air into the speaker hole (not right up next to it, but reasonably close) and left it overnight under a warm lamp.
Yes, paranoid about my new phone. *sheepish look*
In any case, I was reading various things, with people saying "I damaged my speaker by the water getting in there" and "Blowing air into the speaker hole will damage the speaker" and "Putting it under a hot lamp will damage the speaker" etc.
Have you ever heard of ANY of those things damaging the speaker or the phone? I'm all paranoid now. I'm using it today and it seems no worse for wear, and the speaker (ear speaker) seems to be working fine, but I'm all like "Huh, did it sound JUST like that before I did all of the above?" etc.
Any past experiences or advice you'd like to chime in on? Anyone got a close-up look at the faceplate of the Nexus 5 and know if the speaker whole actually is reasonably waterproof, etc?
I looked at this disassembly video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzUj3fpI994 - and I still couldn't quite tell.

i dont know if this applies to the nexus 5 speaker but
i have gotten water on my galaxy s4s speaker 3 times.
once when i just got out of the shower, a single drop of water rolled down my arm and landed on my speaker.
the second time while i was in the shower. it started raining and water blew in through the window.
the third time i was doing dishes and water splashed.
and after all this, each and every time all i did was take out the battery, let it sit for a few hours. and after that the phone worked perfectly.dont blow air, dont throw it in the oven (ive seen people do this) just let it sit and dont play any sounds.

Whitestone Dome Review for Galaxy S10

Whitestone Dome Tempered Glass Screen Protector Honest Review:
First off, let me start off by saying I do not like screen protectors at all. I took a chance on the WSD and here are my thoughts:
This is by far, the best looking screen protector I have ever used. The way that the Loca Glue dries means that you end up with a flawless fitment and finish. I have attached some photos showing how great it does look on the phone. Just make sure you let the screen protector "drop" when the Loca Glue is pooled up right in the center of the device. Too high or too low will result in a less than perfect installation.
The installation process could be a little more straightforward if I am being honest. I ruined the fist install but thankfully nailed the second attempt. The included hardware makes alignment fool-proof and I would suggest watching a couple of installation videos prior to attempting it yourself.
The screen feels as good, if not even a little better with the WSD on the phone. It feels like the oleophobic coating is less resistant to fingers gliding across the display.
The level of protection that tempered glass screen protectors appears to be very real. Thankfully I have not gotten a chance to test this myself.
Overall, I would say without hesitation that this the best screen protector money can buy. I have one con that is very device specific. On the Galaxy S10, the sensitivity of the in-display fingerprint reader suffers drastically with the screen protector installed. After the initial updates I got on my S10, the fingerprint reader has been great. Once I got used to the placement and necessary pressure, I stopped getting error messages saying "no match". Once I installed the WSD, I re-scanned my fingerprints. I turned on the display sensitivity setting and I followed a couple of YouTube videos to get the fingerprint reader to work well. Out of every ten attempts, I usually get a "no match" error half the time. It is rather unpleasant.
Ultimately, I ended up taking the WSD off of my phone. I have since ordered one for my iPhone XS and one for my wifes XR. I think that WSD is absolutely fantastic but the fingerprint scanner tech in the S10 is in it's infancy and the WSD just seems to interfere just enough to cause problems. YMMV but I did try a number of different suggested "fixes" before finally throwing in the towel and taking it off.
TL;DR Whitestone Dome is an instabuy for me for every phone except the S10. If the fingerprint reader is a priority for you and is your preferred biometric security measure, I would say pass for now. Who knows, maybe Samsung will further improve the sensitivity to make the WSD work better than it's current state. I feel like WSD did the best they could with what they were working with. If you use the face scanner, a pin/password or something else besides the fingerprint reader, you will love the WSD.
I hope this review is helpful for any of you trying to make an educated buying decision.

I have ordered WSD from two different sellers and they all not working to a certain extent, even with replacement they sent me, so I have installed this glass on my phone 5 times. Aside from the glass feels amazing, the fingerprint scanner would not work more than half the time, this is a deal breaker to me, I haven't got time to tinker with the way my finger sits on the scanner and how hard I need to press to make it work, every time. I have finally given up on this, until something better can be done about it.
S10 here, just sharing my experience as its still fresh:
I just took it off after 4 days. Everything went well in the application process and I pressed in the fingerprint reader (did the new fingerprints etc.). The thing is it worked OK in super good conditions - although it definitely took longer.
BUT when the hands were a bit more dry (morning for example) or a bit wet(geting out of shower) I consistently got to the point where it would fail enough times to disable the fingerprint reading. I tried redoing the fingerprints again after few days but didn't help.
So basically - it works but with a huge asterisk. Basically you go one notch down. In perfect conditions fingerprint reader without protector will work lightning fast and with protector it will work slower and you will be always required to press a bit harder to get it to detect your fingerprint.
In non-perfect conditions you will get a slower response even without the protector, but with WSD it will fail too many times for my liking to make it useable. On the other hand, the installation seems a bit complicated but with help of yt video its totally easy - and its really one nice protector - when its on, you really think its actual screen on touch.

pixel 4a palm rejection issues

I'm accidentally pressing the edges of display. Anyone else having this issue? Or is it just me. Feel like Android always has bugs concerning palm rejection handling compared to iPhone.
I'm coming from a xs max
I have noticed this, as well, with my wife's 4a. I have a Pixel 3, and I've never had the same issue with it.
Issue continues to persist particularly on bottom left of display. Will need to return device sadly... Unfortunate
I had this happen occasionally the first day I had the phone using it without a case. Once I put a case on (Spigen rugged armor) I'm no longer having the issue. The case has just enough of a lip to prevent my palm from touching the screen especially during one hand use. A thicker case would likely help even more if it's a constant issue for you.
Yeah good call. I figured it out. It was an issue with blokada app that was bugging out the keyboard. Regardless I removed it since It tracks your data. No palm rejection issues I'm seeing currently. Issue can be closed on my end
