Meh... - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

I have to say that so far I'm a little unimpressed with my Note 20 Ultra. Traded in Note 9 and it definitely seemed more polished, faster, overall better experience. I've found my screen freezing, waiting for apps/pages to load, etc. I'm hoping maybe it's just software and will get more dialed in with updates? Anyone else notice these issues?

I think this must be software problem and not normal behavior
As i have exynos s10plus since launch and it never does such things thanks God
What you are describing reminds me of very old Android phones

Did you copy your data to the Note 20 from the Note 9, if so that's your problem. It takes longer but with a new phone I always start from scratch.

Did you copy your data from your Note 9 to the Note 20, if so that's probably the problem. I know it take longer but on a new phone I always start from scratch. I have none of those issues on an unlocked SB version.

I did restore from back up if note 9. Do you really think that could be it??

I'd say that's the problem. This phone is smoking fast and buttery smooth straight out of the box. Do a factory reset and start from scratch.

Yeppers.

Not so sure. I restored from the Note 8 and no issues apart from the battery life and display, but neither of them relate to settings I would imagine.

I restored data from an iphone..no issues so far..a reset should solve any issues though..the phone is blazing fast..

Just did the full reset and busy rebuilding. So far no issues. If this continues I will be glad I posted.

I did a clean install, it was a pain t load and login to everything, but I don't like transferring problems from an old device to a new one....

It's always better to never restore settings and apps from an old phone to a new one, all other data should be fine.

Do you think this could relate to photo quality? Wouldn't think so.
I'm a bit disappointed in it
I moved data in from Note 10+.

Yea, I always start fresh, never restore from backups. It's the cleanest way.
I use some apps built in backup/restore for their own data, but I don't use full backup/restore for the whole phone or anything. It can just potentially copy over bad data, or cause random issues (as the OP ahs seen).

What's wrong with the photo quality specifically?
If you're having weird issues, try clearing app data for the camera app? That'll rule out anything weird coming across from a backup.
Worst case scenario, try a factory reset.

I'm glad I did the reset and rebuild. Works much smoother, faster. I appreciate the advice.

I always just back up my messages and photos but usually do a fresh install. Too many things can be buggy and I like to start out clean.

[Q] Android system draining battery

About a week after I got this phone, android system began to drain a lot of my battery. I turned off sync, disabled a lot of apps, and adjusted Google now, didn't seem to help. I don't know what else to do. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having a similar problem except it is Call Standby, no one could answer it with a proper fix, though apparently it is VoIP, sadly we can't disable it on VZW S6.

Try clearing cache in recovery, I heard that fixes it.
For Cell Standby drain see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ow-to-significantly-increase-battery-t3109799
Thank you!
Help please!
I would also LOVE some help with this too. Currently, Android system is taking up 29% of my battery resources and cell standby is at 10%. I think I've exhausted all possibilities too. I've tried wiping the cache partition, factory data rest, odin back to stock, advanced calling on and off, changing the WiFi sleep policy and nothing seems to tame either one of those from being at the top of my battery stats. I struggle to get 3 hours of SoT. Gsam regularly says that WiFi active uses 40% - 50% of the battery. Any ideas what's going on or how to fix it? I am amazed at some of the screen shots I see with people easily getting 5+ hours of SoT. Ps, I'm on VZW.
What are you running? Stock now? Clean Rom? Try downloading Better battery stats in the Play Store, see if you can get a better handle on what's running more specifically. Have you removed all Verizon's bloat?

And yes, I've disabled all bloat and unused apps.
What I would do is root, and flash Clean Rom 1.5. Then try that and see how you do after that there's a few things you can do that might help if you don't see a jurassic change. Keep us updated though. But thats where I would start.

You also can try to turn off things like smart stay… auto brightness helps if you turn it off and turn your brightness down manually. And make sure if you do flash a rum to let it settle for 3 or 4 days before your give up hope.

Well... The best option that I found, with a good performance & battery life for ~$300 is a Xiaomi RedMi Note 2. It's a pretty good phone, that can be rooted (or even comes pre-rooted out of the box). Has a 5" screen & runs on custom Android called MIUI that is loved all around the world [emoji1]

Touch issues / Screen sensitivity issues on Nougat

Okay so I wanted feedback regarding this whether someone else is experiencing this or not.
I have gradually observed during the last few days that a lot of my touches to click have gone unresponsive in Nougat. Initially it was something that I hadnt quite noticed but slowly the trend became obvious. Now dont get me wrong, this would happen a few times here and there with lollipop and MM as well, but the rate is far higher now on Nougat. Especially when typing on the keyboard this means mis-spelled words, missed letters, and accuracy is far worse now.
Has anyone else observed this or is it just me?
oh
Yup i notice it too....keyboard also samsung and gboard. Sux! Bout to go back to mm

Yeah I think i am on the same position you are.
What i just cant figure out is that is this affecting Everyone after the update and people are failing to notice the increased frequency in missed touches OR whether its just a problem for a small number of people.
I am going to try to hold off for a few more days and hope if a solution magically appears lol cause i really dont want to root.
Only way without root would be ota from tmobile. Doubt that will happen

Some people elsewhere mentioned it is possible to downgrade by ODINing previous stock software. Do you think that's a good idea?
I've noticed touch issues, touch input lag when opening Chrome and immediately begin to type and they replaced the period(.) with a question mark(?) on the Samsung keyboard which is so annoying.

You can ODIN back to Marshmallow without rooting your phone. I did it yesterday and I am back on MM.
All of you did full wipes? Full Clean installs?
---------- Post added at 01:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:53 AM ----------
I just used TWRP to wipe wipe wipe the phone. (cache, dalvik, system, data)
Then flashed 7.0 via odin and so far I do not see the touch issues you all are referring to.
Did you all just update via OTA / Smart Switch or even Odin the ROM with out wiping system?
I even tested with piano tiles 2. Never have played the game before in my life and got a perfect on the first song.
XCover 4 Android nougat
Just got the xcover 4 and it and has the same issue. It was worse with the screen protector so i removed it.
Even with the touch sensitivity (glove mode) set to on things get worse.
+1 on these issues, clean install with several wipes.
Battery life also seems worse.

Well first off why are you talking to me like that?
I said nothing about me being special for you to respond with "I don't care who you are".
Not everyone here wipes, there are plenty of new users or people that simply don't have the experience.
I have no idea who you are so I merely suggested a possible common step to try.
I have a note 5 and my wife has a note 5 and we don't experience such issues. I am particular and OCD enough for this to drive my crazy if it were the case. Perhaps something else is going on here.
Anyways, I hope you have a better day tomorrow then you had today.

There is also a 2nd update to 7.0 so perhaps they fixed it.
I am currently using a T-Mobile Note 5 (N920T) that is unrooted (for now). It has Nougat 7.0 installed. I'm using the Nova launcher because I hate TouchWiz and am using the SwiftKey keyboard. I find that the phone is very sensitive to touch, and I get the best results by using a very light and short touch. If I touch too hard or hold a fraction too long, I'm experiencing the same problems. Since my launcher and kbd are not Samsung standard, I don't know if this is any help to others, but I'm not having any problems at this time.

Pocophone Screens with problems (Multi-touch/latency). Try this on your Poco!

Hello everyone. I've been conducting research about this multi-touch/latency issue about the Pocophone's screen. And this is what I've found. It turns out that most, if not all, people with the "tianma" display has hardware issues with their screen. I want to verify whether this is the case. So if you want to know what display you have, follow my steps.
1. Go to settings.
2. About Phone.
3. Tap the kernel version about 4 times and a new window will pop-up.
4. Then tap "Check version info".
5. Scroll down until you see "LCM Information".
That's where you could see what display your Pocophone has. From what I've seen/heard, all tianma with nt36672a has the multi touch/screen latency issue.
So anyone who either has or does not have the issue, can you please state yours for referrence? I'm sure it could help a lot of people. Thanks!
i dont have any issue with my poco regarding multi touch.
I have the same version then you...sorry but how do you expetience the issue you are talking about? I have no problems what so ever.
If you don't mind, can you please do those steps I showed and show what your LCM Information is? I want to know what type of display a fully functioning Pocophone has.
It's noticeable when typing fast that also involves the edges of the screen (letters q, a, etc.) It has a slight delay to it. And also, when playing games, there's a huge inaccuracy to it. It just isn't the same as my previous phone.

I'm using the latest 8.10.25 and it still feels slow sometimes. No change since MIUI9. It's either hardware related or Gboard is slow. Can't comment on gaming or test it with a slow mode camera.
I have the same display without any issues. I can't replicate the problem you describe despite best efforts to catch the screen out when using the keyboard.
PUBG has controls in the periphery of the screen - I can't blame my poor chicken dinner intake on this!
i have the same nt36672a. the problem has been reduced a little with the update, but it's only noticeable on the edges while typing very fast. As far as gaming is concerned, I paly pubg, Fortnite and other heavy titles on almost daily basis, and haven't faced any issues till now. and since I use swipe gesture to type, the little delay on the sides don't bother me much.
( but the digitizer used surely is at fault, and I don't think updates will do anymore good to improve this touch delay)
Hmm, weird. I have same nt36672a but no problem so far. Tested with Touch Sensor in CIT and working fine. I play Mobile Legends without any issue. I am using Google pinyin app for typing both chinese and English but no issue at all.

Hello all,
Can someone check is this normal, my Note10+ is registred as 2 devices in Google account/Your devices.

My previous Note 8 was registred as one device, on both phones I am using 2 sim cards.

Apparently it is if you factory reset or flash new rom etc, etc.
You can try to hide old devices but that might not work as there is only one device really

It doesn't, only 1 is listed. If you conduct further google research you'll see that is a fairly common occurrence with the reasons i mentioned just some of the possible causes for the duplication.
