Okay so I wanted feedback regarding this whether someone else is experiencing this or not.
I have gradually observed during the last few days that a lot of my touches to click have gone unresponsive in Nougat. Initially it was something that I hadnt quite noticed but slowly the trend became obvious. Now dont get me wrong, this would happen a few times here and there with lollipop and MM as well, but the rate is far higher now on Nougat. Especially when typing on the keyboard this means mis-spelled words, missed letters, and accuracy is far worse now.
Has anyone else observed this or is it just me?
oh
Yup i notice it too....keyboard also samsung and gboard. Sux! Bout to go back to mm

Yeah I think i am on the same position you are.
What i just cant figure out is that is this affecting Everyone after the update and people are failing to notice the increased frequency in missed touches OR whether its just a problem for a small number of people.
I am going to try to hold off for a few more days and hope if a solution magically appears lol cause i really dont want to root.
Only way without root would be ota from tmobile. Doubt that will happen

Some people elsewhere mentioned it is possible to downgrade by ODINing previous stock software. Do you think that's a good idea?
I've noticed touch issues, touch input lag when opening Chrome and immediately begin to type and they replaced the period(.) with a question mark(?) on the Samsung keyboard which is so annoying.

You can ODIN back to Marshmallow without rooting your phone. I did it yesterday and I am back on MM.
All of you did full wipes? Full Clean installs?
---------- Post added at 01:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:53 AM ----------
I just used TWRP to wipe wipe wipe the phone. (cache, dalvik, system, data)
Then flashed 7.0 via odin and so far I do not see the touch issues you all are referring to.
Did you all just update via OTA / Smart Switch or even Odin the ROM with out wiping system?
I even tested with piano tiles 2. Never have played the game before in my life and got a perfect on the first song.
XCover 4 Android nougat
Just got the xcover 4 and it and has the same issue. It was worse with the screen protector so i removed it.
Even with the touch sensitivity (glove mode) set to on things get worse.
+1 on these issues, clean install with several wipes.
Battery life also seems worse.

Well first off why are you talking to me like that?
I said nothing about me being special for you to respond with "I don't care who you are".
Not everyone here wipes, there are plenty of new users or people that simply don't have the experience.
I have no idea who you are so I merely suggested a possible common step to try.
I have a note 5 and my wife has a note 5 and we don't experience such issues. I am particular and OCD enough for this to drive my crazy if it were the case. Perhaps something else is going on here.
Anyways, I hope you have a better day tomorrow then you had today.

There is also a 2nd update to 7.0 so perhaps they fixed it.
I am currently using a T-Mobile Note 5 (N920T) that is unrooted (for now). It has Nougat 7.0 installed. I'm using the Nova launcher because I hate TouchWiz and am using the SwiftKey keyboard. I find that the phone is very sensitive to touch, and I get the best results by using a very light and short touch. If I touch too hard or hold a fraction too long, I'm experiencing the same problems. Since my launcher and kbd are not Samsung standard, I don't know if this is any help to others, but I'm not having any problems at this time.

Unfortunately I have tried the upgrade assistant and Smart Switch from samsung themselves, and neither will detect it, it highlights the phone red (I assume when it's checking for an update) and then goes back to being white and says under status "Up to date" and my version is still OJ3...
I've tried removing the device from the list, readding it, reinstalling the program, repairing the device to reflash it in hopes of getting it, numerous things.
I'll post images of it.

I have tried this as well. I believe I may know a way to get it through the Upgrade Assistant but I believe I need help from someone who is already updated in order to be able to get it. Anyone up for the task by any chance?
If you go into "C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\VERIZON" you should see a BinaryDB.db file, if uploaded I may be able to use it to trick their servers into thinking my device is updated, but needing a factory reset, then in essence allowing the software to download the files needed to "factory reset" (hehe the update file I need...) my phone.
Another way to do this is go into any folder, type %AppData% and then browse to "Roaming\VERIZON"
I have literally tried everything that I can think of other than this.

Which issues were you having with battery? Because I think I am experiencing it as well. I was expecting a large boost to battery from both the Marshmallow battery features and from using WiFi calling and putting the phone in airplane mode. It doesn't seem to be any better, if anything it seems worse than it was on 5.1.1.

Many of us have seen increased battery drain with the first Verizon Marshmallow update. It's been a difficult thing to narrow down because some claim they have better battery life.
New to Samsung. Got the Note 5 a few weeks ago and immediately jumped to MM. Got the new update today and it just told me my SIM card was removed. I had to reset to get it to register.
I had pretty good battery on the original MM update. I'll know more tomorrow after a full discharge/charge cycle.

im not getting a full day worth on Marshmallow...i look like a iphone users now carrying my charger or asking if anybody has a charger
I'm beyond confused on what to do right now. The tablet is having problems left and right and Im just so confused, and no answers from Google are helping me.
Basically, I have three problems. First, the tablet cannot boot past the Nvidia logo. Second, the battery charges EXTREMELY SLOWLY. It took ten hours to get to 35%, and I fell asleep waiting for it to get one percent. And third, it discharges rapidly while on with the charger.
To note what I did, I installed TWRP, did numerous factory resets, and installed LineageOS. However, it just won't boot. Sp I am now here. Please help, I have no more options.

It's best to not update the OS ever. As long as it works. Also, Google auto update should be deactivated. In general, updates are bad. They take storage and eat performance in 80% of the case.

Regardless, this means nothig for the battery. I've also never seen updates ruin a device. For example, updates actually saved my phone out of brick. If not for Cyanogen, this phone would've stayed bricked.
OEM updates usual ruin the performance. That's my experience.
I've tried numerous 7.1.2 custom Nougat roms and have recently gone back to stock 5.2 and have to say that the device works a lot better.

After the 5.2 update, my K1 is running a bit smoother/faster than before. Particularly screen rotation, opening keyboard, opening apps & going back to home screen.
Battery life is as it was before the update.
One of the previous updates (5.1?) similarly improved performance a bit.

Experiences will vary. But that goes with just about any software change, be it an OEM update, custom ROM, kernel, etc. For every person that says the performance, battery, etc. is better; there will be another that says it's worse.
There are lots of variables in how you use the device, what apps, etc.

Yes, the comments by this user are over-generalized, hyperbolic, and nonsensical. They add little value to this forum. Just sounds like a guy that had a bad experience once or twice, and now has an axe to grind with every update on every device. Ever.

Yeah so far this rom is pretty smooth no major issues. A few app crashes here and there but it's probably because the apps haven't been updated yet to run with Android 9.

Should only be there on your home screens to show that you slide up for all apps list. Definitely shouldn't be there on the dock. Did you try clearing cache in recovery? Are you completely stock on the P beta, or are you using other mods/changes to the system?

Completely stock. There are actually 2 carats on the home screen, a bigger one and the small one seen in the screenshots.
Doesn't effect performance, just annoying.
Have cleared cache from recovery and on just about every system app that it will allow me to clear it. Can't downgrade the launcher unfortunately.

Yeppers.
Not so sure. I restored from the Note 8 and no issues apart from the battery life and display, but neither of them relate to settings I would imagine.
I restored data from an iphone..no issues so far..a reset should solve any issues though..the phone is blazing fast..
Just did the full reset and busy rebuilding. So far no issues. If this continues I will be glad I posted.
I did a clean install, it was a pain t load and login to everything, but I don't like transferring problems from an old device to a new one....
It's always better to never restore settings and apps from an old phone to a new one, all other data should be fine.
Do you think this could relate to photo quality? Wouldn't think so.
I'm a bit disappointed in it

Yea, I always start fresh, never restore from backups. It's the cleanest way.
I use some apps built in backup/restore for their own data, but I don't use full backup/restore for the whole phone or anything. It can just potentially copy over bad data, or cause random issues (as the OP ahs seen).

What's wrong with the photo quality specifically?
If you're having weird issues, try clearing app data for the camera app? That'll rule out anything weird coming across from a backup.
Worst case scenario, try a factory reset.
I'm glad I did the reset and rebuild. Works much smoother, faster. I appreciate the advice.
I always just back up my messages and photos but usually do a fresh install. Too many things can be buggy and I like to start out clean.

I would not side load this.
There may be a glitch with using the side key to launch it.
Try in safe mode to rule out a 3rd party app...
Keep trashware social media apps like WhatsApp, Tic-tok, FB, etc off the phone.
Clear system cache.
Clear cam data and try again.

Go to Device Care and in memory clear the cache apps. Now try the side switch cam thing, after it launches go immediately back to Device Care and see what apps loaded since it was cleared.
It may give a clue to the cause. I've used this technique to track down some nasty little buggers. It's saved me from a factory reset.

It may give a clue to the cause. I've used this technique to track down some nasty little buggers. It's saved me from a factory reset.

You can't clean the "reserved" apps?
I'm using the old banned 360 degrees variant, I firewall block it. Works really good.

Yup that's what I hit. Only camera app shows up. I will try to isolate the problem and see what conditions this behavior occurs.

Do you have the return option still available?
This problem occurs more than you might think. I am extremely annoyed at paying dearly for a smartphone full of annoying problems. I get even more annoyed because Samsung doesn't release software updates to fix this. The last update for my version was released in Feb.
