As it states i have an update pending but its saying download and Install
I don't want it to automatically install as rooted phone so want to just download it
So can I just download it without installing it and I can manually install it

I have the same issue in that I keep getting the update reminder despite having the system update app frozen?
Does downloading the update using oxygen updater and not installing it quiet the reminder?

Rom manager is different than the actual recovery part. Rom manager is the app interface to clockwork recovery.
The two are separate but related.

Open ROM Mgr and at the top of it where it lists CWM and its version, touch there to update.
Yes, I am unlocked and rooted. Running carbon 4/1 nightly atm and using KTK but whenever I try to flash a new kernel I get an error. In TWRP it says "Error flashing update binary" and in CWM I get Status Error 7. Both are latest versions and the kernels are for my version of Android as well and the downloads did download successfully. Just got no clue what is happening.
U can use SU to update ur binary. I also recommend to have the latest twrp (2.6.3.1. I read that 7.0 ppl having trouble with backups) or cwm recovery

Updated my SU binary and still getting the same error. "Error executing updater binary"
I guess I can try CWM

Do a clean install. Factory reset format. Then flash rom and different kernel

Thanks, finally a proper response!!! :good::good::good:
I only received my OPO yesterday, running 33R, and have so far only unlocked the bootloader - no custom recovery installed.
I downloaded the 38R zip file and attempted to sideload the update via ADB. Once the OPO received the file and verified it, this is the message that appeared on the screen:
Installing update…
Assert failed: apply_patch_check (“ /system/framework/apache-xml. Jar”,”f2c5874e0d3470ec141b3b513b0d894962c6ec59”,”5d4e75d4acb11d35411447716cf18d7ffc175909)
E: Installation error in /tmp/update.zip
(Status 7)

Is there anything I can do - or do I have to wait for the OTA update?
Thanks,
F
You don't need to sideload the update, you can just flash it in TWRP recovery.

First of all, you need a custom recovery. You can't do this using the stock recovery.
Secondly, download the ota update with modified script. Did you flash my smooth scrolling mod? It says you've done changes to Apache-xml that's why it's failing. If you download the modified ota then it'll work.

No, I haven't flashed anything as yet.

We're impatient people ... and just so you know, the OTA can take weeks for the OTA to finally arrive.

Because we don't want to, don't need to, we have the choice and ability not to. Nobody is forcing anybody to update manually. Just like nobody should be criticising us for doing it.

Will updating affect root?
Sure, you need to re flash root

So I had root working with SU. I updated to the latest SU using flashfire. It flashed and rebooted the phone, now I'm bricked.
I get "security error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software and is locked"
I can't get into Recovery or download.
I'm assuming I'm f*cked?
You weren't supposed to update SuperSu it was specifically stated in the original tutorials that updating would cause issues...
Also explain how you aren't able to access the recovery or download mode...
Is the screen black?
Does your computer recognize it when it's plugged in?
All you had to do was extract the newest supersu.apk from the new chainfire release and install via app installer. Hope you got it by now.
Yeah, I got it now.
FYI - extracting the superu.apk doesn't update it. You have to re-run the root.bat that comes with the .zip.
Also, I had to re-flash the stock firmware.
That was scary.
Thanks,
Glad you got it but what I meant was to extract the APK from the zip file transfer it to your phone and then install the APK file regular. either way I'm glad you got it fixed

Hello everyone,
Right now I'm running the last beta of Android 10
The phone is unlocked and it is rooted
Is there a way for me to install Android 10 and not lose what I've done to the phone
Or am I better off starting from scratch
And if that is the case what are the steps I need so I don't brick my phone
I am unable to install the update......"Couldnt install try again", this is the error i am getting.............i am on latest android 10 beta
When jumping from beta to stable, or one version to another, a clean flash is always recommended.
But, if you want to update without wipe, I suggest you do the following:
- Download the full factory image of android 10
- Unzip it
- Find and edit the "flash-all" script (there are 3 of them, the .bat is for windows etc..)
- Remove the "-w" from the last line and save
- Go in fastboot mode
- Launch the modified script
It will flash the update without wiping the device. Of course since it's an update, it will remove root, custom kernel and twrp, but data will be preserved.
If you prefer to wipe, don't remove the "-w" from the script. Before launch it, remember it will wipe also the /sdcard totally, so backup to your pc what you need.
I did a clean flash and I can tell it feels more fluid and fast, also you avoid possible errors during the upgrade
If you have twrp installed, you can;
-download latest full ota zip to phone
-flash ota in twrp
-flash twrp zip after ota
-reboot recovery
-flash latest magisk zip
-reboot
This won't wipe anything, is just a dirty flash.
Cheers

I want to flash the full image, without wiping so ill remove the -w. But I see there are two packages for Android 10 on googles page. Do you know which version to download if im in the USA with Tmobile? Thanks.
Mine automatically did the second one when I accepted the OTA from the carrier. The "20" one.

Also did you just boot into TWRP or did you flash TWRP?

Thanks. I tried to flash Magisk 19.3 Stable and ElementalX Kernal 5.05 but I got the error at the end that system and something else were not mounted. Do you know how I get around this? THANKS for all your input!

Sorry, can't help you with that as I'm not familiar with custom kernels and flash orders.
Maybe ask in that specific thread?
