Possible tempered glass fix - Motorola Edge Accessories

This is experiential.
Most of curved tempered glass only has adhesive on the perimeter. This can adversely affect touch sensitivity.
Recently, I discovered a type of glue (LOCA or liquid optical clear adhesive) which requires UV light to fix. This is possible to be used as "filler".
Before installing for real for first time, use two unused glass plate
Put a drop of glue and glass #1 and cure it and feel it. If it's like "credit card glue" (weak adhesive and easy to remove), try to bond with same glue. Put another drop on glass A and bond it with glass B and cure the bond. If the glass can be separated without too much effort. Go to the real work.
The phone MUST be on 100% leveled surface to avoid mess. Drop the glue on the middle of the screen from top to bottom (or bottom to top)
Put on the glass plate and observe the glue spread evenly. You can apply a bit pressure to push out excessive glue, and wipe away leaked glue.
Use UV light to cure the glue. The duration depends on the previous experiment. If the glue cured after 15 minutes, it takes 20-25 minutes to cure.
Hopefully this method can help touch and fingerprint scanner issue.
You need a weak and easy to remove bond so you won't break the screen upon removal.

Im thinking about "fixing" my cracked screen like this sort of. Using the loca between the phone and the glass screen protector to hopefully fill in the small crack channel and not be a botherance.

I've used Loca for other phones. That stuff is really durable, even on phones with curved screens. Looking to test this with my Edge.

guys its here not my item but ive ordered to try aswell https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001855747792.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.14293c00pc3tYE&mp=1

Um there are tempered glass protector screens that use UV based adhesives...
If you go this route probably should clean off the adhesive on the protector and use just the UV cure bonding. Otherwise you will probably run into issues with screen placement and air bubbles.

I bought them and they arrived and they're pretty easy to apply if you're used to Whitestone Dome Glass screen protectors.
You dont get a jig to fit them perfectly like Whitestone provide and the glass itself it not as good either but for the amount they cost they're actually good and fit well.

I checked the link - watched the application video - had a stroke.

Could you please show me what these protective glass panes actually look like? And if it's not hard for you , please show how they look on the phone.

I decided to glue the glass with UV adhesive. Films are torture already peeled on the side edges.
It turned out not so great clearances between the glass and the cover on the sides. My finger doesn't cling to the edge of the glass.
Oleophobic not bad. Glued Mocolo glass with UV adhesive for Sams S20 +, it will be worse.
The frontal camera shoots fine, the image is not blur out from the glue, there is no distortion.
Touchscreen, fingerprint work fine.
The seller said that the glass is from Imac. I didn't buy it in China, I bought it in my home country. But I think this IS IT

I like the no hole style much better as a hole collects trash, is unattractive and complicated installation.
It does add extra layers of refraction* and extra material that will degrade the image to some degree. Since I rarely use the front cam this be a fair tradeoff for me, but some may notice and not like it.
*screen glass>adhesive>glass protector, 2 extra refraction zones that the light needs to pass through.

I don't know, I don't see any distortions.

Hey Sudman,
I was wondering if you could provide any feedback. How does the fingerprint and touch sensitivity do after installing? How well do they resist scratches and oil? Are they easy to remove? Can they be used with as shell or bumper? Anything else someone should know before buying them?

What is the Edge 5g? Is that a 3rd Edge variant apart from the Edge + and Edge regular (both of whom have 5g)? Its really confusing.

IQ Shield & Skinomi Skintech Screen Protector(covers edge panel)

I saw this mentioned on another thread and since it is one of the only screen protectors known to cover the edge panel,I am really considering ordering one.
My question is, for anyone that already may have received there's.... since this requires the adhesive spray- how is the installation on the edge panel holding up/applying.
I have never used a screen protector that needed spray, but I'm imagining it being difficult/not staying on (12-24 hours needed to rest before using) because of the curve? Any thoughts

I have always trusted screen protector companies that provide the spray with their screen protector. IMO, screen protectors with spray actually stick on and works better than those that don't come with it. XtremeGuards screen protector does not comes with it and I have had it peeled off on me, whereas Zagg has been working marvelously for me. The spray actually helps with the installation of the screen protector as well, as it allows you to move the screen protector without damaging the screen protector or your phone. And once you squeezed all the liquid out and the screen protector dry up, it will stays on your phone beautifully.
You can watch this video to get an idea on how the screen protector with spray works.
I purchased one also , for the past year i've exclusively bought glass screen protectors , but with the curve on the note edge it seem's unlikely that that will happen with this phone , just have to wait and see, before that i always used ivisishield , expensive but i never really like the way it felt , so with really very slim options to chose from i purchased the skinomi also should arrive tommorrow , my note edge should also , i'm familiar with that type of application , as long as you follow the directions especially the part about sparaying both hands liberally , keeps from getting finger prints on the protector should be very easy , i used to feel very apprehensive about doing these thing's having OCD doesn't help matters much either ....LOL , but Skinomi has an excellent reputation as well as a lifetime guarantee , which usually means if you screw it up they will send you another one , as another poster suggested there are several UTUBE video's available , good luck , and let's see those Pic's , if i get mine done tomorrow i will do my best to show photo's , i hope other member's will also ....................:good:

Funny I always used solution I made with Dawn size on your thumb nail and 12 ounces of water in a bowl. Mix and wait a few minutes scooping out any bubbles. I wet my fingers and peel of the protector and dip it in the solution and let it drip then place it on the phone and its done. Use a microfiber to gently pat it once it is in position and in a few hours good to go. Any bubbles will disappear. I used this on iphones, note 3, galaxy s3, s4 and zero damage and on all my tablets too.
Got mine delivered today and installed it immediately. My overall experience with the skinomi screen protector for the note edge isn't bad at all. Just make sure you wash your hands before starting.
And the screen protector does cover the entire screen, including the edge panel and it's a good quality as well. A little gummy to the touch but not as bad like the the zagg.
Also, skinomi offers a lifetime replacement warranty so that's an added bonus.
My advice, get one and be very patient with the installation process. If you happen to messed up, just peel it off and wash with soap and water then reapply with the solution spray provided. Do keep in mind not to over spray the solution. Keep it as minimal as possible that way you'll reduce the risk of water damage and it will be easier to squeegee out the excess liquid.
I used a blow dryer after i re over all the excess liquid and now my note edge screen is fully protected
Just got the screen protector and installed it. Feels nice and when i got the kit, the bottle was already filled with solution. Only thing I could think of, is...make sure it's properly wet so you dont over stretch the pieces. Also, OMG...it has so many small pieces that it took me a while to put all on.

[Review] Benks OKR+ Full Screen (Colored) Tempered Glass Screen Protector - Updated

purchased from eBay: $12.99 | took about 2 weeks to arrive from China
i was excited to install this screen protector, but that excitement quickly soured into disappointment.
the packaging was nice. the outer package was made of very think and stiff paper. the sp itself was in its out paper bag. all the other stuff was in another sealed paper bag.
as you can see from the pics, there appears to be a concave spot in the upper right that just would not stick, no matter what i tried. it was not an air bubble. i squeeze all the air from the center out, but that area never adhered. also, none of the edges adhered either. it appears that the screen protector is warped.
i did buy one of the first ones that showed up on ebay, so it may be from an early bad batch. i contacted the seller about this issue and i'll update when they reply.
needless to say, i do NOT recommend this sp.
Nillkin makes an identical-looking glass screen protector. has anyone tried theirs?
Update 1 (4/27): the seller said they're sending me a replacement today. i'll update in about 2 weeks.
also, the giant anomaly/air bubble in the upper right corner seems to have disappeared overnight. unfortunately, the bottom right edge of the screen seems to have lifted up more (new pic below). with the screen on, it's actually not that bad. it appears as a slight haze at the corners. still, i'm not happy with the SP. hopefully the replacement won't have this problem.

Update 1 (4/27):
Update 2 (5/17):
I got the replacement this week. Unfortunately, it's more of the same. The SP just doesn't want to stick to the sides. Oh well ... At least with the screen on, you can barely tell. I guess I'm used to it by now. I still wouldn't recommend this SP.

yes. it was exactly like every other half a dozen screen protectors i've installed over the past few years.
they're all the same. clean the screen. peel protective plastic off screen protector. align with phone. stick to phone.
have you never installed a screen protector before?

aside from the "air bubble" how are the edges? does it fully stick to the S6 screen edges since they curve? it looks great other than the bubbles and also i'm certain Nilkin uses the same product just branded for them
Unless if I'm looking at it incorrectly, it seems that the home button is not a perfect fit on there..... Or is that just the angle?

no, at least not all the way around. look at the new pic i uploaded. notice at the corners where there are light spots (circled in red or blue). that's where the SP doesn't adhere to the screen.
i checked before installation and there was adhesive even in the colored parts of the SP. this wasn't the case in their versions for the iPhone, which eventually led to dirt getting under the sides and the SP lifting.

the cutout is precise and slightly bigger than the home button. but since the SP is thicker, the home button is now slightly recessed (refer to the new pic). it's a little different feeling at first, but you quickly get used to it. it also doesn't affect the fingerprint scanning function.
Updated
Just installed this screen protector. Pretty pleased with the results. It stuck right up to the edges.
My Spigen case caused a bit of a problem though. It lifted up the edges of protector and caused halo effect. Resolved the problem by sanding down the inside edge of the case by a fraction of a millimeter.
Is this oeleophobic? I got a decent protector without this coating and I hate it.

I'm not sure. I got it off ebay and the product info given by the seller said it is. However I couldn't see anything on the product itself when it arrived to confirm this. I've never found that oeleophobic screens work very well anyway.

Which one is that?
It's the Capsule Ultra Rugged
I have the one from Nillkin, but I didn't buy it from ebay, I got it from a local retailer. I have no problems with it.
And yes, it looks the same as the one reviewed here. But maybe at the time the OP of this thread bought these protectors they were like just introduced, maybe in the begining all of them had this problem. After all, after some months, the accesories are very diversified and you can choose a fair amount of brands.

It's the Benks 9H Full Cover Curved Tempered Glass Screen Protector. Got it off eBay

DIY full coverage and full adhesive tempered glass

Hi all, joined just to post this in hopes that this helps all XZ2C owners trying to get a proper tempered glass for our phones
As you know, due to the curved screens of the XZ2C (and most modern phones), theres not really any tempered glass that allows both full coverage and full adhesive

Tempered glass options available are either:
1. Full "coverage", they are either transparent or with black borders, but they only have adhesives on the sides of the glass, meaning while they do cover most of the screen, there is an air gap in the middle which results in a visible reduction of screen quality and there are visible "dots"
2. Full adhesive, glass that have full adhesive on its entire surface, but do not extend all the way out to the edges due to the curved edges, those that do extend out more end up with visible "gaps" at the edges
I've not found any vendors selling UV+Full tempered glass (eg whitestone style) sets for the XZ2 Compact, so I decided to attempt to make one myself, by doing so, I have finally found a way to achieve a true, full adhesive and full coverage tempered glass for our XZ2 compacts, no air gap, no side edges and no dots
However, as I currently do not have enough posts, I am unable to post images of what i have done (but will probably do it once my post count is high enough or if someone is kind enough to post them for me!)
Things needed
1. You will need to order those "full coverage" style tempered glass for the xz2 compact, the ones with only the side adhesive. The one I used is black bordered with a cut out for the "sony" logo at the bottom, when placed on the phone (with protective cover still on) it should cover most of the screen
2. LOCA UV glue tube (the same type that comes with a typical UV glass set, can be bought from aliexpress for around $4 per tube, get at least 2 or 3 in case you make a mistake)
3. UV nail lamp
4. Knife (I used xacto)
We need to remove all the "layers" from the tempered glass in order to make it suitable for application, first, remove all the side adhesive from the tempered glass using a knife, start from the corner, once enough of it comes off you can pinch it and peel all of it off.
Once all the adhesive is removed, you may want to remove the second film layer, this film contains the dot matrix pattern and covers the entire glass and offers some protection if the glass is ever shattered, but will also result in ugly dots being visible, in my case I just removed it as I did not like the dots. Same method, starting at the corner with your knife, remove enough of it until you can "pinch" the film off (in my case the film also contains the black border) until you are left with a clean empty glass.
Clean the glass and make sure there are no residue or dust on the back side of it. Clean the phone's glass as well, you are ready to start UV application. There are many youtube videos teaching how to apply uv glass (eg, whitestone) and the steps are the same here.
*For those who have not tried UV glass application before, a helpful tip is to practice by pouring a coin sized "drop" of water on the phone's glass (our XZ2s is ip68) and then slow laying the tempered glass on top of it and letting the water spread out until it covers the whole screen, the consistency of the glue is very similar to water.
Ensure the speaker grills are covered (top and bottom of the XZ2 compact) so the glue does not get in and clog them and that you are on a level surface (so that the glue does not spill to the side), begin application.
Once the glass is placed properly and the glue has spread and excess glue cleaned up, set the glue by exposing it to the UV lamp (again, see youtube)
Thats it, you now have a full coverage, full adhesive tempered glass for your XZ2 Compact, enjoy!
Hi! Did you have any experiences to remove this glass and the loca incase for warranty issues? I have the same thougt/idea to make a tempered glass full adhesive, but i've never tryed it...
Hmm in my experience removing it is quite easy if the correct glue is used, slowly peel out the glass and it will eventually come off. The glue will tend to stick to the glass instead of the factory glass but you can use alchohol to remove the residue. Mind in mind that your olephobic coating will probably be wiped out if you do any sort of LOCA application
Take note, the cheaper or wrong glue WILL make them stuck like super glue and make it a nightmare to remove, i got into that situation before and had to pay $20 to a shop to have them professionally removed.
If in doubt, always get glue from branded sellers like sgfreshidea (mine is currently using theirs) or use those spare tubes provided by whitestone, they are designed to be removed
Hi! May I know which screen protector and UV glue you ordered? How you cover those speaker grills? I'm very interested and want to make an attempt.

Hmm I just ordered those no brand tempered glass, those with the cutout for the Sony logo at the bottom, all of them are similar, but the important thing is using the right glue, using the wrong glue will result in bubbles forming days after application and of course, permanently stuck to the glass, you cannot remove it easily (see previous post), if in doubt, buy the glue from sgfreshidea, think 7 bucks per tube or something
I just used a section of the rubberband to cover the top grill and a tiny roll of tissue to fill the bottom cavity speaker, once it has dried, I just removed them without any issues
Hope that helps!

P30 Pro LOCA UV adhesive screen protectors?

Because of the curved glass of the P30 Pro, conventional screen protectors don't really work and so relatively recently there have been these newer LOCA-based ones that require the user to apply a layer of glue on the phone screen before attaching the screen protector and then curing the adhesive with a UV lamp.
Personally I've tried using them on my P30 Pro but there's this strange bubble issue and I wanted to ask if anyone else encountered this and if there's a way to avoid it.
When I apply the screen protector, there are no bubbles in the adhesive under the glass. When I initially cure it with the UV lamp, it solidifies just as expected and the screen protector anneals as intended. But I notice that within 24 hours of application, small bubbles start to form near the edges of the screen protector where there were initially none. These bubbles aren't in contact with the very edge, they seem to form in the MIDDLE of the adhesive NEAR the edges so it's not caused by air leaking. Within 3 days, these bubbles expand into unsightly lines that stretch along the length of the phone. I've tried 2 different brands and it happens every time I apply one of these screen protectors.
What's causing these bubbles to form, and is there any way to avoid it?

In the end I got a G-Color screen protector from Amazon and applied it myself. It's been a week and so far everything is good with no emerging bubbles. It seems there are several factors that cause emerging bubbles, like tiny dust particles in the glue or applying the glass slightly off-centre from the phone so that the screen's curved glass is an uneven distance from the screen protector.
Try looking and researching for Mocoll tempered glass screen protector for p30 pro. Seems to work well, fully adhesive.

Question Oleophobic coating

I've started to notice that where my thumb scrolls up and down on the screen the coating must be wearing away because there is 2-3cm streaky bit , obviously only had the phone 2 months, should I take it back to Samsung or is there a decent spray out there that anyone could recommend, thanks
i would have recommended using a screen protector, but thats a little to late if you do get a new handset a screen protector should be fitted before even turning it on would be my advice

What have you been cleaning your screen with? You don't want to use any kind of Chemical or Alcohol cleaning liquids on phone. Best thing to use is eye glass cleaner that safe for all coatings. If it is safe for eye glass coatings it safe for your phone. Be sure to wipe it with a microfiber cleaning cloth and NEVER a paper towel or bathroom tissue.
I haven't used a screen protector on my S7 Edge, Note 8, S20U or my current S22U and never had a problem.
I use Zeiss Lens cleaning spray as it's safe for all eye glass coatings and a microfiber eyeglass cleaning cloth. I have used that for all my phones and it has never stripped off the coating.
But I guarantee if you are using chemical cleaners like Windex or Alcohol Wipes to clean your screen that will definitely strip off the coating over time. Again just buy something from the eye glass store that specifically states it's safe for use on all coatings.

Thanks for the reply, I've only ever used a micro fibre cloth, nothing else, that's why it's strange that it's started to wear away, it's only where I use my thumb to scroll up and down I've never needed a screen protector on all my phones and they've always been fine

Yeah same here. Last phone I had the s20U came with a screen protector on it and I didn't even know it was on there. After couple months it looked like little chips in glass along edge of phone. Finally took it out of case and saw these was a film on there and peeled it off and viola screen was flawless again.
Anyway the S22 supposedly doesn't come with a sceeen protector but it couldn't hurt to look and see.

I've started to notice that where my thumb scrolls up and down on the screen the coating must be wearing away because there is 2-3cm streaky bit , obviously only had the phone 2 months, should I take it back to Samsung or is there a decent spray out there that anyone could recommend, thanks

I have the same problem on my screen, first phone ever it happens to me
Same here,. I bought the phone in February, when the line appeared, then they replaced my screen in July. Now after 2 months the line has reappeared (vertical) on new screen. Does Samsung have a manufacturing defect? Unbelivable....

+1 for the Fusso coating. I used it on my tempered glass screen protector for the S22U and it worked great. You probably need to re-coat it every few months but when you do the difference is crazy.
Could be defective. I had an iPhone 8 Plus that developed a patch that would get streaky just like you described. And it was only a week old!
