Review of the Seidio Ultimate Screen Guard for the DHD

Hello, I just put my screen protector on and figured I would share my story with you. Hopefully it will help some of you choose your screen protector as I have noticed my experience does not align with those from a year ago on different phones.

I bought my pack off Amazon from america and the delivery was relatively quick considering, I believe it took 7 working days. Inside you will find two screen guards, a cloth and a tiny credit card shaped piece of plastic.
You are given the cloth so that you can wipe the screen clear of fingerprints and dust but I would strongly recommend against using it. It malts as you use it and thus just covers the screen with fluff. Instead I would suggest you use a glasses cloth. The tiny card supplied to push air bubbles out is also downsized from previous products and too flimsy to be of any use, use your fingernail to push out air bubbles instead.
The result of using the cloth to clean on my first attempt in fact ended up with me putting my screen protector on over a tiny piece of fluff which quickly resulted in that one being scrapped, luckily you are given two.
Upon installation of my second screen protector, having used a glasses cloth instead, I discovered that it fits extremely tightly. Previous versions of this same cover for other phones have reported to have a slight gap around the outside to leave for error. This is not the case with the DHD.
Thankfully the screen protector does not use glue and thus you can use cellotape to lift it off the screen and try again. It took over five attempts for me to minimize the air bubbles to just very small bits in the top right and bottom left hand corners. While this is not perfect I could not bare to try again having come so close. I believe it is possible to get it to sit flush without air bubbles, but the precision needed is far greater than it has been for previous products and as a result you may find your self settling for second best.
Looking head on at the screen there is no noticeable shift in colour, however from a side angle the colours look slightly more washed out than usual. This should however not be of concern as there is no reason why you would be wanting to view your phone from such an angle.
I have been unable to reproduce the rainbow effect and have also noticed no realistic difference in glare from the standard screen, despite the product's box claiming it has anti glare. I would however say that it has reduced fingerprint smears, which is much appreciated.
The overall feel of the screen is not too dissimilar from the glass it's self. While at first I noticed a slight bit of extra drag, having used it for another 10 minutes this feel has quickly decayed. I would hedge my bets and say after a few days of use I would not be able to notice any difference between it being on or off the screen. Furthermore the screen protector is extremely clear, perhaps the best I have ever seen. This is likely due to it being only 0.1mm thick.
Summary (tl;dr):
- The cloth supplied should be avoided and the card supplied to remove air bubbles is too flimsy to do the job.
- The screen protector fits very tightly round the edge, requiring a lot of precision to put it on without air bubbles. This is a change from previous designs for other phones which left a gap, which would most certainly be welcomed on the DHD model.
- The screen protector can be taken off and put back on as many times as you wish (within reason) while installing due to the fact it doesn't use glue.
- The protector it's self is extremely clear, showing no signs of altering colours or rainbowing accept for when viewed at an angel the colours are slightly more washed out than usual. This should not be an issue however.
- The feel of the protector is very close to the feel of glass and I would argue you couldn't get any closer. After a few days of use you will not even know you have it on your screen.
Overall Conclusion:
Would I buy it again?
Yes. If it was made slightly smaller so that there was a gap around the outside it might well be as perfect as you could get for a screen protector.

Update
The two tiny air bubbles have almost all but gone now, they appear to be getting rid of them selves and I can safely say that I truly couldn't actually tell you if you removed this filter without me knowing. It feels so close to glass that without a direct comparison you wouldn't know.

is it really that different getting rid of air bubbles on a high quality screen protector compared to a cheap one?
I have a cheap one. When I applied it there were a few bubbles but I just smooshed them out and it was perfect! (got one tiny fiber under there though... )

Air bubbles are only hard to get out when the protector isn't put on perfectly, if it is too close to the edge it will prevent you from getting air bubbles out and if you have a very large air bubble it is likely because the protector is in fact over the edge.
Getting air bubbles out of the sedio screen guard was easy, however the problem is that it is such a tight fit that you will struggle with them unless you get it perfect. I have however been inpressed by the fact that my two tiny air bubbles are slowly going away. I couldn't get rid of them my self and I tried very hard.
I would say that air bubbles are likely easier to get rid of out of the expensive ones because they likely will not use any form of glue to stick it to the screen and thus the air bubbles are likely more free to move under the surface.
Might I stress these really are small air bubbles I had, but it did take about 5 attempts to put it on with such small ones.

IQ Shield & Skinomi Skintech Screen Protector(covers edge panel)

I saw this mentioned on another thread and since it is one of the only screen protectors known to cover the edge panel,I am really considering ordering one.
My question is, for anyone that already may have received there's.... since this requires the adhesive spray- how is the installation on the edge panel holding up/applying.
I have never used a screen protector that needed spray, but I'm imagining it being difficult/not staying on (12-24 hours needed to rest before using) because of the curve? Any thoughts

I have always trusted screen protector companies that provide the spray with their screen protector. IMO, screen protectors with spray actually stick on and works better than those that don't come with it. XtremeGuards screen protector does not comes with it and I have had it peeled off on me, whereas Zagg has been working marvelously for me. The spray actually helps with the installation of the screen protector as well, as it allows you to move the screen protector without damaging the screen protector or your phone. And once you squeezed all the liquid out and the screen protector dry up, it will stays on your phone beautifully.

I purchased one also , for the past year i've exclusively bought glass screen protectors , but with the curve on the note edge it seem's unlikely that that will happen with this phone , just have to wait and see, before that i always used ivisishield , expensive but i never really like the way it felt , so with really very slim options to chose from i purchased the skinomi also should arrive tommorrow , my note edge should also , i'm familiar with that type of application , as long as you follow the directions especially the part about sparaying both hands liberally , keeps from getting finger prints on the protector should be very easy , i used to feel very apprehensive about doing these thing's having OCD doesn't help matters much either ....LOL , but Skinomi has an excellent reputation as well as a lifetime guarantee , which usually means if you screw it up they will send you another one , as another poster suggested there are several UTUBE video's available , good luck , and let's see those Pic's , if i get mine done tomorrow i will do my best to show photo's , i hope other member's will also ....................:good:

Funny I always used solution I made with Dawn size on your thumb nail and 12 ounces of water in a bowl. Mix and wait a few minutes scooping out any bubbles. I wet my fingers and peel of the protector and dip it in the solution and let it drip then place it on the phone and its done. Use a microfiber to gently pat it once it is in position and in a few hours good to go. Any bubbles will disappear. I used this on iphones, note 3, galaxy s3, s4 and zero damage and on all my tablets too.

Got mine delivered today and installed it immediately. My overall experience with the skinomi screen protector for the note edge isn't bad at all. Just make sure you wash your hands before starting.
And the screen protector does cover the entire screen, including the edge panel and it's a good quality as well. A little gummy to the touch but not as bad like the the zagg.
Also, skinomi offers a lifetime replacement warranty so that's an added bonus.
My advice, get one and be very patient with the installation process. If you happen to messed up, just peel it off and wash with soap and water then reapply with the solution spray provided. Do keep in mind not to over spray the solution. Keep it as minimal as possible that way you'll reduce the risk of water damage and it will be easier to squeegee out the excess liquid.
I used a blow dryer after i re over all the excess liquid and now my note edge screen is fully protected

Just got the screen protector and installed it. Feels nice and when i got the kit, the bottle was already filled with solution. Only thing I could think of, is...make sure it's properly wet so you dont over stretch the pieces. Also, OMG...it has so many small pieces that it took me a while to put all on.

Anker High Definition (HD) Screen Protector w/ pictures and video

This is my personal and unbiased review of the Anker High Definition (HD) Screen Protector. I recently got the opportunity from Anker to review the Anker's newest screen protector for the Galaxy Note 4. I will explain the installation process and my initial thoughts. I have not had more than a few hours to review the protector yet... so this will only be my inital review. I will update my review in about a week.
First off, installation was a little more cumbersome than I thought it would be but it felt like it was the luck of the draw or requires a steady hand. I've installed many screen protectors before, including bodyguardz film protectors and LUVVITT's tempered glass.
The package cames with 3 protectors, cleaning cloth, a bubble remover, and something I've not seen before, what is essentially a lint remover. I thought it was cool.

After I got the protector the way I wanted it on the screen, I used the little card to remove the bubbles and I removed the final film off of the screen protector using the little tab they equipped:

But there was a slight problem.... when I pulled off the final film, it pulled off the actual screen protector as well. I couldn't tell at first so in the video you see me checking out the screen until I realized it wasn't on.
Luckily there was 2 more and I tried the whole process again. This time it went on the way I liked it on the very first try. Unfortunately, I did not record it this time but here is the final product:

THE INITIAL VERDICT:
I think the screen protector is good for the price. You get a lot for how much it costs. One major thing that I do not like about the protector is that it slows your finger down a little. It feels almost sticky and gives some resistance when you are sliding you finger SLOWLY across the screen. You feel this resistance less the faster you move your finger but I don't think of it after a while. I'm hoping this is only because its a new protector and needs some time to go away.
I do like that I don't feel like I lose any screen sensitivity. All touches are precise and just as sensitive as if I didn't have it on.
The protector seems like it's made more to protect against scratches rather than to protect the screen from cracking against any kind of forceful impact.
I will do a updated an updated review in about 1 week.
OVERALL I give this product 4 out of 5 stars. After one week of use I noticed a slight scratch on the screen protector and can see that it's not very good at repelling fingerprints but this is probably the best of it's kind for the price. It doesn't hinder the look of the phone and I feel like my phone is protected from normal wear and tear and that is what this screen protector is made to do.

I was going to post my review... but decided i would just add my experience here....
I have tried 6 different screen protectors for my new Galaxy Note 4!!! NONE of them worked well. I really like the tempered glass variety of screen protectors, but none fit the phone correctly due to the curved diameter at the edge of the screen. These created a "halo" effect around the whole circumference of the screen. It looked terrible, and just attracted dust and lint.
So, when I saw that Anker (a brand I have always trusted) was offering a screen protector (and a 3 pack no less), I figured, whats it hurt to try one more time.
So in fairness... the first set then sent me was terrible! It was bubbling with micro spots of lint/dust. I went through all 3 in the pack unsuccessfully. I did contact Anker customer support, and they answered within minutes, and told me they had contacted their product engineers, and they were sending me "new" replacements.
I received those with two days. The very first one I installed on my screen installed perfectly!! The protector covers the "visible" part of the phones display. Some of the surrounding bezel is not covered where the screens starts to curve). So the protector lays nicely. Also, being a little smaller, my phone case does not rub against the screen protector.
This protector is clear. It transmits light from the display nicely, and does a decent job of resisting finger prints. So far no scratches, so it seems fairly tough to everyday use.
I would have still preferred a tempered glass protector, but due to all the issues, this Anker HD Screen Protector more than fits the bill!
The package ships with everything you need to install a screen protector: micro fiber cloth (and it's big...so I can use on my eyeglasses), bubble remover, link/dust removing tape, and full instructions.

and OP, you should totally do the method where you only pull back the top portion of the protector, lay that flat, then gradually peel the rest back so that you don't risk getting dust on it every single time you lift it up off the phone and place it back down. i used to do it the way you did it; taking the first film off completely and placing it down..but honestly, the peel back method is MUCH better, and so is the hinge method. give em a try.

Got these yesterday... Exactly what I expected. Super easy to install. No bubbles, no imperfections on the first try. They are SUPER narrow. Barely covering the entire actual screen. I wish it covered the camera tho

I have had my Anker protector on for the last week, and no scratches yet. The edges are on tight. No bubbles, no lifted edges.

What is the difference between the "Clear" and "Matte" versions?
The Matte version sounds like it will be less reflective compared to the Clear.
But, apart for that

P30 Pro LOCA UV adhesive screen protectors?

Because of the curved glass of the P30 Pro, conventional screen protectors don't really work and so relatively recently there have been these newer LOCA-based ones that require the user to apply a layer of glue on the phone screen before attaching the screen protector and then curing the adhesive with a UV lamp.
Personally I've tried using them on my P30 Pro but there's this strange bubble issue and I wanted to ask if anyone else encountered this and if there's a way to avoid it.
When I apply the screen protector, there are no bubbles in the adhesive under the glass. When I initially cure it with the UV lamp, it solidifies just as expected and the screen protector anneals as intended. But I notice that within 24 hours of application, small bubbles start to form near the edges of the screen protector where there were initially none. These bubbles aren't in contact with the very edge, they seem to form in the MIDDLE of the adhesive NEAR the edges so it's not caused by air leaking. Within 3 days, these bubbles expand into unsightly lines that stretch along the length of the phone. I've tried 2 different brands and it happens every time I apply one of these screen protectors.
What's causing these bubbles to form, and is there any way to avoid it?

got any screenshots? i got like a bubble running in the corners too, so far the best protection I got is the spigen neo flex, our phone is not meant for tempered due to curve glass

In the end I got a G-Color screen protector from Amazon and applied it myself. It's been a week and so far everything is good with no emerging bubbles. It seems there are several factors that cause emerging bubbles, like tiny dust particles in the glue or applying the glass slightly off-centre from the phone so that the screen's curved glass is an uneven distance from the screen protector.

Try looking and researching for Mocoll tempered glass screen protector for p30 pro. Seems to work well, fully adhesive.

I have the G-Color UV one and it works really well. No edge lifting at all, and fits my Spigen Hybrid case too.

I find these Loca glue type of screen protector good to hide scratches...

Possible tempered glass fix

This is experiential.
Most of curved tempered glass only has adhesive on the perimeter. This can adversely affect touch sensitivity.
Recently, I discovered a type of glue (LOCA or liquid optical clear adhesive) which requires UV light to fix. This is possible to be used as "filler".
Before installing for real for first time, use two unused glass plate
Put a drop of glue and glass #1 and cure it and feel it. If it's like "credit card glue" (weak adhesive and easy to remove), try to bond with same glue. Put another drop on glass A and bond it with glass B and cure the bond. If the glass can be separated without too much effort. Go to the real work.
The phone MUST be on 100% leveled surface to avoid mess. Drop the glue on the middle of the screen from top to bottom (or bottom to top)
Put on the glass plate and observe the glue spread evenly. You can apply a bit pressure to push out excessive glue, and wipe away leaked glue.
Use UV light to cure the glue. The duration depends on the previous experiment. If the glue cured after 15 minutes, it takes 20-25 minutes to cure.
Hopefully this method can help touch and fingerprint scanner issue.
You need a weak and easy to remove bond so you won't break the screen upon removal.

Im thinking about "fixing" my cracked screen like this sort of. Using the loca between the phone and the glass screen protector to hopefully fill in the small crack channel and not be a botherance.

I've used Loca for other phones. That stuff is really durable, even on phones with curved screens. Looking to test this with my Edge.

Um there are tempered glass protector screens that use UV based adhesives...
If you go this route probably should clean off the adhesive on the protector and use just the UV cure bonding. Otherwise you will probably run into issues with screen placement and air bubbles.

I bought them and they arrived and they're pretty easy to apply if you're used to Whitestone Dome Glass screen protectors.
You dont get a jig to fit them perfectly like Whitestone provide and the glass itself it not as good either but for the amount they cost they're actually good and fit well.

I checked the link - watched the application video - had a stroke.

Could you please show me what these protective glass panes actually look like? And if it's not hard for you , please show how they look on the phone.

I decided to glue the glass with UV adhesive. Films are torture already peeled on the side edges.
It turned out not so great clearances between the glass and the cover on the sides. My finger doesn't cling to the edge of the glass.
Oleophobic not bad. Glued Mocolo glass with UV adhesive for Sams S20 +, it will be worse.
The frontal camera shoots fine, the image is not blur out from the glue, there is no distortion.
Touchscreen, fingerprint work fine.
The seller said that the glass is from Imac. I didn't buy it in China, I bought it in my home country. But I think this IS IT

I like the no hole style much better as a hole collects trash, is unattractive and complicated installation.
It does add extra layers of refraction* and extra material that will degrade the image to some degree. Since I rarely use the front cam this be a fair tradeoff for me, but some may notice and not like it.
*screen glass>adhesive>glass protector, 2 extra refraction zones that the light needs to pass through.

You dont get a jig to fit them perfectly like Whitestone provide and the glass itself it not as good either but for the amount they cost they're actually good and fit well.

I was wondering if you could provide any feedback. How does the fingerprint and touch sensitivity do after installing? How well do they resist scratches and oil? Are they easy to remove? Can they be used with as shell or bumper? Anything else someone should know before buying them?

What is the Edge 5g? Is that a 3rd Edge variant apart from the Edge + and Edge regular (both of whom have 5g)? Its really confusing.
