Anker High Definition (HD) Screen Protector w/ pictures and video - Galaxy Note 4 Accessories

This is my personal and unbiased review of the Anker High Definition (HD) Screen Protector. I recently got the opportunity from Anker to review the Anker's newest screen protector for the Galaxy Note 4. I will explain the installation process and my initial thoughts. I have not had more than a few hours to review the protector yet... so this will only be my inital review. I will update my review in about a week.
First off, installation was a little more cumbersome than I thought it would be but it felt like it was the luck of the draw or requires a steady hand. I've installed many screen protectors before, including bodyguardz film protectors and LUVVITT's tempered glass.
The package cames with 3 protectors, cleaning cloth, a bubble remover, and something I've not seen before, what is essentially a lint remover. I thought it was cool.
First I cleaned it with the cloth:
Then I used the lint remover, very helpful for removing pieces of lint that the cloth won"t get:
http://youtu.be/ST-NRqqFa1s
It took a few times for me to get it on the way I wanted it....
See the video:
http://youtu.be/41-JoEsn7rA
After I got the protector the way I wanted it on the screen, I used the little card to remove the bubbles and I removed the final film off of the screen protector using the little tab they equipped:
http://youtu.be/2wv0eDPgJwc
But there was a slight problem.... when I pulled off the final film, it pulled off the actual screen protector as well. I couldn't tell at first so in the video you see me checking out the screen until I realized it wasn't on.
Luckily there was 2 more and I tried the whole process again. This time it went on the way I liked it on the very first try. Unfortunately, I did not record it this time but here is the final product:
http://s28.photobucket.com/user/mmafighter077/media/anker/IMG_2406.jpg.html?sort=3&o=17
THE INITIAL VERDICT:
I think the screen protector is good for the price. You get a lot for how much it costs. One major thing that I do not like about the protector is that it slows your finger down a little. It feels almost sticky and gives some resistance when you are sliding you finger SLOWLY across the screen. You feel this resistance less the faster you move your finger but I don't think of it after a while. I'm hoping this is only because its a new protector and needs some time to go away.
I do like that I don't feel like I lose any screen sensitivity. All touches are precise and just as sensitive as if I didn't have it on.
The protector seems like it's made more to protect against scratches rather than to protect the screen from cracking against any kind of forceful impact.
I will do a updated an updated review in about 1 week.
OVERALL I give this product 4 out of 5 stars. After one week of use I noticed a slight scratch on the screen protector and can see that it's not very good at repelling fingerprints but this is probably the best of it's kind for the price. It doesn't hinder the look of the phone and I feel like my phone is protected from normal wear and tear and that is what this screen protector is made to do.

I was going to post my review... but decided i would just add my experience here....
I have tried 6 different screen protectors for my new Galaxy Note 4!!! NONE of them worked well. I really like the tempered glass variety of screen protectors, but none fit the phone correctly due to the curved diameter at the edge of the screen. These created a "halo" effect around the whole circumference of the screen. It looked terrible, and just attracted dust and lint.
So, when I saw that Anker (a brand I have always trusted) was offering a screen protector (and a 3 pack no less), I figured, whats it hurt to try one more time.
So in fairness... the first set then sent me was terrible! It was bubbling with micro spots of lint/dust. I went through all 3 in the pack unsuccessfully. I did contact Anker customer support, and they answered within minutes, and told me they had contacted their product engineers, and they were sending me "new" replacements.
I received those with two days. The very first one I installed on my screen installed perfectly!! The protector covers the "visible" part of the phones display. Some of the surrounding bezel is not covered where the screens starts to curve). So the protector lays nicely. Also, being a little smaller, my phone case does not rub against the screen protector.
This protector is clear. It transmits light from the display nicely, and does a decent job of resisting finger prints. So far no scratches, so it seems fairly tough to everyday use.
I would have still preferred a tempered glass protector, but due to all the issues, this Anker HD Screen Protector more than fits the bill!
The package ships with everything you need to install a screen protector: micro fiber cloth (and it's big...so I can use on my eyeglasses), bubble remover, link/dust removing tape, and full instructions.
5 Stars for quality, customer support, and super fast shipping!

Glad the reviews are positive. Mine are already on their way from amazon. Can't wait because my phones been totally naked since Wednesday!

whats the price on these? they look just like every other protector out there...including the tech armor ones I got for 99 cents each per 3 pack when they were on sale.
and OP, you should totally do the method where you only pull back the top portion of the protector, lay that flat, then gradually peel the rest back so that you don't risk getting dust on it every single time you lift it up off the phone and place it back down. i used to do it the way you did it; taking the first film off completely and placing it down..but honestly, the peel back method is MUCH better, and so is the hinge method. give em a try.

Got these yesterday... Exactly what I expected. Super easy to install. No bubbles, no imperfections on the first try. They are SUPER narrow. Barely covering the entire actual screen. I wish it covered the camera tho

I have had my Anker protector on for the last week, and no scratches yet. The edges are on tight. No bubbles, no lifted edges.
Here is the link to the product. They are $6 bucks for 3 ($2 each). Well worth it.

Here are a few pictures of the screen protector on my phone....

Thanks for the review.
What is the difference between the "Clear" and "Matte" versions?
The Matte version sounds like it will be less reflective compared to the Clear.
But, apart for that

Review of the Seidio Ultimate Screen Guard for the DHD

Hello, I just put my screen protector on and figured I would share my story with you. Hopefully it will help some of you choose your screen protector as I have noticed my experience does not align with those from a year ago on different phones.
tl;dr summery located at the bottom.

I bought my pack off Amazon from america and the delivery was relatively quick considering, I believe it took 7 working days. Inside you will find two screen guards, a cloth and a tiny credit card shaped piece of plastic.
You are given the cloth so that you can wipe the screen clear of fingerprints and dust but I would strongly recommend against using it. It malts as you use it and thus just covers the screen with fluff. Instead I would suggest you use a glasses cloth. The tiny card supplied to push air bubbles out is also downsized from previous products and too flimsy to be of any use, use your fingernail to push out air bubbles instead.
The result of using the cloth to clean on my first attempt in fact ended up with me putting my screen protector on over a tiny piece of fluff which quickly resulted in that one being scrapped, luckily you are given two.
Upon installation of my second screen protector, having used a glasses cloth instead, I discovered that it fits extremely tightly. Previous versions of this same cover for other phones have reported to have a slight gap around the outside to leave for error. This is not the case with the DHD.
Thankfully the screen protector does not use glue and thus you can use cellotape to lift it off the screen and try again. It took over five attempts for me to minimize the air bubbles to just very small bits in the top right and bottom left hand corners. While this is not perfect I could not bare to try again having come so close. I believe it is possible to get it to sit flush without air bubbles, but the precision needed is far greater than it has been for previous products and as a result you may find your self settling for second best.
Looking head on at the screen there is no noticeable shift in colour, however from a side angle the colours look slightly more washed out than usual. This should however not be of concern as there is no reason why you would be wanting to view your phone from such an angle.
I have been unable to reproduce the rainbow effect and have also noticed no realistic difference in glare from the standard screen, despite the product's box claiming it has anti glare. I would however say that it has reduced fingerprint smears, which is much appreciated.
The overall feel of the screen is not too dissimilar from the glass it's self. While at first I noticed a slight bit of extra drag, having used it for another 10 minutes this feel has quickly decayed. I would hedge my bets and say after a few days of use I would not be able to notice any difference between it being on or off the screen. Furthermore the screen protector is extremely clear, perhaps the best I have ever seen. This is likely due to it being only 0.1mm thick.
Summary (tl;dr):
- The cloth supplied should be avoided and the card supplied to remove air bubbles is too flimsy to do the job.
- The screen protector fits very tightly round the edge, requiring a lot of precision to put it on without air bubbles. This is a change from previous designs for other phones which left a gap, which would most certainly be welcomed on the DHD model.
- The screen protector can be taken off and put back on as many times as you wish (within reason) while installing due to the fact it doesn't use glue.
- The protector it's self is extremely clear, showing no signs of altering colours or rainbowing accept for when viewed at an angel the colours are slightly more washed out than usual. This should not be an issue however.
- The feel of the protector is very close to the feel of glass and I would argue you couldn't get any closer. After a few days of use you will not even know you have it on your screen.
Overall Conclusion:
Would I buy it again?
Yes. If it was made slightly smaller so that there was a gap around the outside it might well be as perfect as you could get for a screen protector.
Hope this helped, if it has hit the thanks
Update
The two tiny air bubbles have almost all but gone now, they appear to be getting rid of them selves and I can safely say that I truly couldn't actually tell you if you removed this filter without me knowing. It feels so close to glass that without a direct comparison you wouldn't know.
is it really that different getting rid of air bubbles on a high quality screen protector compared to a cheap one?
I have a cheap one. When I applied it there were a few bubbles but I just smooshed them out and it was perfect! (got one tiny fiber under there though... )

Air bubbles are only hard to get out when the protector isn't put on perfectly, if it is too close to the edge it will prevent you from getting air bubbles out and if you have a very large air bubble it is likely because the protector is in fact over the edge.
Getting air bubbles out of the sedio screen guard was easy, however the problem is that it is such a tight fit that you will struggle with them unless you get it perfect. I have however been inpressed by the fact that my two tiny air bubbles are slowly going away. I couldn't get rid of them my self and I tried very hard.
I would say that air bubbles are likely easier to get rid of out of the expensive ones because they likely will not use any form of glue to stick it to the screen and thus the air bubbles are likely more free to move under the surface.
Might I stress these really are small air bubbles I had, but it did take about 5 attempts to put it on with such small ones.

IQ Shield & Skinomi Skintech Screen Protector(covers edge panel)

I saw this mentioned on another thread and since it is one of the only screen protectors known to cover the edge panel,I am really considering ordering one.
My question is, for anyone that already may have received there's.... since this requires the adhesive spray- how is the installation on the edge panel holding up/applying.
I have never used a screen protector that needed spray, but I'm imagining it being difficult/not staying on (12-24 hours needed to rest before using) because of the curve? Any thoughts

I have always trusted screen protector companies that provide the spray with their screen protector. IMO, screen protectors with spray actually stick on and works better than those that don't come with it. XtremeGuards screen protector does not comes with it and I have had it peeled off on me, whereas Zagg has been working marvelously for me. The spray actually helps with the installation of the screen protector as well, as it allows you to move the screen protector without damaging the screen protector or your phone. And once you squeezed all the liquid out and the screen protector dry up, it will stays on your phone beautifully.
You can watch this video to get an idea on how the screen protector with spray works.
I purchased one also , for the past year i've exclusively bought glass screen protectors , but with the curve on the note edge it seem's unlikely that that will happen with this phone , just have to wait and see, before that i always used ivisishield , expensive but i never really like the way it felt , so with really very slim options to chose from i purchased the skinomi also should arrive tommorrow , my note edge should also , i'm familiar with that type of application , as long as you follow the directions especially the part about sparaying both hands liberally , keeps from getting finger prints on the protector should be very easy , i used to feel very apprehensive about doing these thing's having OCD doesn't help matters much either ....LOL , but Skinomi has an excellent reputation as well as a lifetime guarantee , which usually means if you screw it up they will send you another one , as another poster suggested there are several UTUBE video's available , good luck , and let's see those Pic's , if i get mine done tomorrow i will do my best to show photo's , i hope other member's will also ....................:good:

Funny I always used solution I made with Dawn size on your thumb nail and 12 ounces of water in a bowl. Mix and wait a few minutes scooping out any bubbles. I wet my fingers and peel of the protector and dip it in the solution and let it drip then place it on the phone and its done. Use a microfiber to gently pat it once it is in position and in a few hours good to go. Any bubbles will disappear. I used this on iphones, note 3, galaxy s3, s4 and zero damage and on all my tablets too.
Got mine delivered today and installed it immediately. My overall experience with the skinomi screen protector for the note edge isn't bad at all. Just make sure you wash your hands before starting.
And the screen protector does cover the entire screen, including the edge panel and it's a good quality as well. A little gummy to the touch but not as bad like the the zagg.
Also, skinomi offers a lifetime replacement warranty so that's an added bonus.
My advice, get one and be very patient with the installation process. If you happen to messed up, just peel it off and wash with soap and water then reapply with the solution spray provided. Do keep in mind not to over spray the solution. Keep it as minimal as possible that way you'll reduce the risk of water damage and it will be easier to squeegee out the excess liquid.
I used a blow dryer after i re over all the excess liquid and now my note edge screen is fully protected
Just got the screen protector and installed it. Feels nice and when i got the kit, the bottle was already filled with solution. Only thing I could think of, is...make sure it's properly wet so you dont over stretch the pieces. Also, OMG...it has so many small pieces that it took me a while to put all on.

[Review] Benks OKR+ Full Screen (Colored) Tempered Glass Screen Protector - Updated

purchased from eBay: $12.99 | took about 2 weeks to arrive from China
i was excited to install this screen protector, but that excitement quickly soured into disappointment.
the packaging was nice. the outer package was made of very think and stiff paper. the sp itself was in its out paper bag. all the other stuff was in another sealed paper bag.
as you can see from the pics, there appears to be a concave spot in the upper right that just would not stick, no matter what i tried. it was not an air bubble. i squeeze all the air from the center out, but that area never adhered. also, none of the edges adhered either. it appears that the screen protector is warped.
i did buy one of the first ones that showed up on ebay, so it may be from an early bad batch. i contacted the seller about this issue and i'll update when they reply.
needless to say, i do NOT recommend this sp.
Nillkin makes an identical-looking glass screen protector. has anyone tried theirs?
Update 1 (4/27): the seller said they're sending me a replacement today. i'll update in about 2 weeks.
also, the giant anomaly/air bubble in the upper right corner seems to have disappeared overnight. unfortunately, the bottom right edge of the screen seems to have lifted up more (new pic below). with the screen on, it's actually not that bad. it appears as a slight haze at the corners. still, i'm not happy with the SP. hopefully the replacement won't have this problem.

Update 1 (4/27):
Update 2 (5/17):
I got the replacement this week. Unfortunately, it's more of the same. The SP just doesn't want to stick to the sides. Oh well ... At least with the screen on, you can barely tell. I guess I'm used to it by now. I still wouldn't recommend this SP.

yes. it was exactly like every other half a dozen screen protectors i've installed over the past few years.
they're all the same. clean the screen. peel protective plastic off screen protector. align with phone. stick to phone.
have you never installed a screen protector before?

aside from the "air bubble" how are the edges? does it fully stick to the S6 screen edges since they curve? it looks great other than the bubbles and also i'm certain Nilkin uses the same product just branded for them
Unless if I'm looking at it incorrectly, it seems that the home button is not a perfect fit on there..... Or is that just the angle?

no, at least not all the way around. look at the new pic i uploaded. notice at the corners where there are light spots (circled in red or blue). that's where the SP doesn't adhere to the screen.
i checked before installation and there was adhesive even in the colored parts of the SP. this wasn't the case in their versions for the iPhone, which eventually led to dirt getting under the sides and the SP lifting.

the cutout is precise and slightly bigger than the home button. but since the SP is thicker, the home button is now slightly recessed (refer to the new pic). it's a little different feeling at first, but you quickly get used to it. it also doesn't affect the fingerprint scanning function.
Updated
Just installed this screen protector. Pretty pleased with the results. It stuck right up to the edges.
My Spigen case caused a bit of a problem though. It lifted up the edges of protector and caused halo effect. Resolved the problem by sanding down the inside edge of the case by a fraction of a millimeter.
Is this oeleophobic? I got a decent protector without this coating and I hate it.

I'm not sure. I got it off ebay and the product info given by the seller said it is. However I couldn't see anything on the product itself when it arrived to confirm this. I've never found that oeleophobic screens work very well anyway.
Hey
Very nice reviews, I will try it nevertheless and let you know

Which one is that?
It's the Capsule Ultra Rugged
I have the one from Nillkin, but I didn't buy it from ebay, I got it from a local retailer. I have no problems with it.
And yes, it looks the same as the one reviewed here. But maybe at the time the OP of this thread bought these protectors they were like just introduced, maybe in the begining all of them had this problem. After all, after some months, the accesories are very diversified and you can choose a fair amount of brands.

Poetic Revolution case review

I was sent the Poetic Revolution case to review, so let’s get things started.
This case currently sells for $16.95 on Amazon.
UPDATE: It is now listed at $12.95

The Poetic Revolution is a ruggedized two-piece case. The inside portion is made from polycarbonate and the outside is wrapped in a TPU material to provide grip and absorb shock. There is polycarbonate reinforcement on the backside and corners as well. It is a bulkier case, but that is the trade-off for added protection. The color is listed as black/dark grey, but the TPU is actually more of a brownish grey color, which I am not overly fond of. There is a lanyard loop on the top left corner that allows you to attach it to your backpack, belt loop, or anything else you can think of. I have no use for the lanyard loop, so I would prefer it without. It also has a built in screen protector like that of the Otterbox Defender and Unicorn Beetle. I am personally not a fan of rugged cases, so I have no experience with either of the cases listed above and cannot compare the quality or built in screen protector. Poetic also says it is water resistant, but I don’t get paid enough to test that claim, haha. The overall look and feel of the case externally is quite good. However, there is a major flaw with the function of this case, which I will explain later in the review.
The phone snaps into the inner polycarbonate shell and then slips into the outer TPU cover. A little instruction cutout is included, giving you step by step instructions on how to separate the two pieces of the case. A brief overview of the instructions states that your are supposed to use the carabiner loop to separate the corner and then run your finger down the edges and remove the inner shell, after opening both dust covers for the headphone jack and USB-C port. Installation was a little tricky at first and took a couple of tries to get it right, but once the case is on, it is very solid and fits together well.
The volume buttons are separated and button presses felt good, no issues there. No troubles with taking screen shots either. The port cut outs seem to have enough room around them. I read that some people were having trouble charging the device with the case installed, that was not the case for me. Of the 3 USB-C cables I tried, every one of them worked and the plug was not touching the case from any side, although it was close. The fingerprint sensor cut out is angled and there were no problems using the sensor.
The “Revolution” text on the side of the case looks cheap in my opinion and takes away from the look. The “P” logo on the back is above the fingerprint sensor and honestly where it should’ve been on the Affinity. The kick stand is easy to use and feels fairly sturdy. It provides a 45 degree viewing angle in portrait mode, and a 75 degree viewing angle in landscape mode.
Now, onto the flaw I mentioned earlier.. The built in screen protector. There’s really no way around it, the built in screen protector kills this case. There is about a 1/8 inch gap between the devices screen and the built in protector on the case. This makes using the phone in any way basically impossible. The only way to get the device to register a touch is to use a lot force. I do have a tempered glass screen protector already installed, but I believe the results would be the same regardless. I tried putting it on and taking it off multiple times, but that made no difference. I’m not sure if I received a faulty case or not, but not having the built in screen protector would be infinitely better.
In conclusion, the Poetic Revolution looks good and has a nice amount of protection, but the built in screen protector makes the phone unusable and that flaw cannot be overlooked. Even at $16.95, I cannot recommend the Poetic Revolution.
is there a way of not installing the screen protector itself.... I like the ruggedness of the case... but that flaw would need to looked by me once I receive mine...

The screen protector looks to be adhered to the inner shell of the case. I'm sure it could be modified and removed though. I haven't read of any one else having this issue with this case, so maybe it's just mine.

I'm still waiting for mine to show up, but I'll pull that stupid thing out, they are worthless. Not sure why you wouldn't just go ahead and do the same, especially since you have a screen protector on already.
And a 1/4 inch gap? Seriously? I have a hard time believing that. All of the pictures are broken in this thread for me so I can't see any showing that.

I've never been a fan of built in screen protectors and will most likely remove it. However I believe a product should not have to be modified in order to work properly.
I had no way of providing an exact measurement, so that was a rough estimate. It is probably closer to a 1/8 inch gap. I will update my original post.
Those built-in protectors never work well, but they're horrible if you have a screen protector already installed, especially a tempered glass. I usually have removed them from my Otterbox cases and used either a Spigen crystal or a tempered glass screen protector in the past. On the Otterbox, they just Peel off gently and you can scrape the glue off after. A heatgun would probably be even quicker. I do agree that is sucks to have to pay for a premium case (26 bucks in Canada) and then mod it. I am a service tech in the HVAC industry though, and if I don't have a rugged case on the phone will be dead in a few months.

In conclusion, the Poetic Revolution looks good and has a nice amount of protection, but the built in screen protector makes the phone unusable and that flaw cannot be overlooked. Even at $16.95, I cannot recommend the Poetic Revolution.

Very well articulated mate! Loved reading it.
I'm awaiting mine. As for the screen protector, @Pilz has removed from his unit. May be he can give some tips.
Cheers

It's very easy to remove, all you have to do is push it out starting at the corners and carefully peel it off. The downside is that it leaves sticky residue on the case, but you can remove it without too much hard work.

Accessories amFilm Tempered Glass 2 months review

Want to start off with saying that I did receive the pack from TechMatte for free. However I did indicate to them that I am here to share impartial thoughts even though I received the product from them free of charge. I've written plenty of these reviews in the past that have been posted on XDA.
I have not tried other screen protectors for the s22 ultra prior to this so there is no comparison, but I've used plenty of other screen protectors on the market for various devices so I have a decent idea.
Application:
There are plenty of videos and write ups about tempered glass installs requiring liquid gel adhesive and UV light curing so there's not much to talk about here. It's not the easiest screen protector to install, of course. It gets messy, takes some patience, but it's doable. Unfortunately I had to waste 1 glass because a bubble formed in the middle of the screen and it never went away after more than 48 hours. Despite the instructions says not to move the glass to try to get bubbles out after you've laid it down on the gel, I had to for my second attempt to get it to spready evenly as I did not want to waste another glass.
Coverage and case compatibility:
From past experience this has always been an issue. I like my screen protectors and I also like using cases because I tend to drop my phone, a lot. Problem with screen protectors is they either have COMPLETE coverage which makes it impossible to use with a case, or there's too much gap. I find the amFilm provides the right balance and it is compatible with the CaseBorne R series plus a few other generic silicone cases.
Glass quality and fingerprint sensitivity:
Been a bit over 2 months, I haven't seen any scratches on the glass. Usually have the phone in my pocket without keys. I have no had any touches that doesn't get registered, finger glides across glass nicely and S pen works flawlessly. However, I've had glass protectors with better finger print resistance. This is one feedback I'm going to give to them is if they can go bit heavier on the oleophobic coating, however I don't know if that will affect the fingerprint sensor's sensitivity. Which leads me to say that this is probably the best glass protector I've used without noticeable changes to the fingerprint sensor's sensitivity. The first install with the bubble performed horribly, the fingerprint sensor barely worked. After the second attempt, I've had no issues nor complaints about the fingerprint sensor. I am not sure what they did with this because I used amFilm on my s21 ultra, and the fingerprint sensor did not perform the same as this.
Overall, I'd 100% buy them again for this device. I say for this device because my experience with the fingerprint sensor was subpar on the s21 ultra and I am not sure how they do with the other devices currently on the market.

I agree with most of what the OP has stated above. I don't use the fingerprint sensor so I can't say anything about it but everything else about this glass protector has been flawless in the 4 months I've had it on my phone. I got mine on the first try thanks to a great youtube install video which I'll link below:
My first application was a dud, glue residue poured out to the side and speaker at the top. I wiped it all off and managed to apply successfully the second time. Will the liquid glue affect volume or damage the top speaker?

Installation of mine was perfect. The only issue that I had is that there is residue of the fingerprints sticker...like a big white area on where fingerprint stays. It goes when I clean and use a tape to lift it... So it's kind of surprising.... But comes again in a few hours.
Otherwise, great protector and would highly recommend.
