IQ Shield & Skinomi Skintech Screen Protector(covers edge panel)

I saw this mentioned on another thread and since it is one of the only screen protectors known to cover the edge panel,I am really considering ordering one.
My question is, for anyone that already may have received there's.... since this requires the adhesive spray- how is the installation on the edge panel holding up/applying.
I have never used a screen protector that needed spray, but I'm imagining it being difficult/not staying on (12-24 hours needed to rest before using) because of the curve? Any thoughts

I have always trusted screen protector companies that provide the spray with their screen protector. IMO, screen protectors with spray actually stick on and works better than those that don't come with it. XtremeGuards screen protector does not comes with it and I have had it peeled off on me, whereas Zagg has been working marvelously for me. The spray actually helps with the installation of the screen protector as well, as it allows you to move the screen protector without damaging the screen protector or your phone. And once you squeezed all the liquid out and the screen protector dry up, it will stays on your phone beautifully.
You can watch this video to get an idea on how the screen protector with spray works.

I purchased one also , for the past year i've exclusively bought glass screen protectors , but with the curve on the note edge it seem's unlikely that that will happen with this phone , just have to wait and see, before that i always used ivisishield , expensive but i never really like the way it felt , so with really very slim options to chose from i purchased the skinomi also should arrive tommorrow , my note edge should also , i'm familiar with that type of application , as long as you follow the directions especially the part about sparaying both hands liberally , keeps from getting finger prints on the protector should be very easy , i used to feel very apprehensive about doing these thing's having OCD doesn't help matters much either ....LOL , but Skinomi has an excellent reputation as well as a lifetime guarantee , which usually means if you screw it up they will send you another one , as another poster suggested there are several UTUBE video's available , good luck , and let's see those Pic's , if i get mine done tomorrow i will do my best to show photo's , i hope other member's will also ....................:good:

Funny I always used solution I made with Dawn size on your thumb nail and 12 ounces of water in a bowl. Mix and wait a few minutes scooping out any bubbles. I wet my fingers and peel of the protector and dip it in the solution and let it drip then place it on the phone and its done. Use a microfiber to gently pat it once it is in position and in a few hours good to go. Any bubbles will disappear. I used this on iphones, note 3, galaxy s3, s4 and zero damage and on all my tablets too.

Got mine delivered today and installed it immediately. My overall experience with the skinomi screen protector for the note edge isn't bad at all. Just make sure you wash your hands before starting.
And the screen protector does cover the entire screen, including the edge panel and it's a good quality as well. A little gummy to the touch but not as bad like the the zagg.
Also, skinomi offers a lifetime replacement warranty so that's an added bonus.
My advice, get one and be very patient with the installation process. If you happen to messed up, just peel it off and wash with soap and water then reapply with the solution spray provided. Do keep in mind not to over spray the solution. Keep it as minimal as possible that way you'll reduce the risk of water damage and it will be easier to squeegee out the excess liquid.
I used a blow dryer after i re over all the excess liquid and now my note edge screen is fully protected

Just got the screen protector and installed it. Feels nice and when i got the kit, the bottle was already filled with solution. Only thing I could think of, is...make sure it's properly wet so you dont over stretch the pieces. Also, OMG...it has so many small pieces that it took me a while to put all on.

purchased from eBay: $12.99 | took about 2 weeks to arrive from China
i was excited to install this screen protector, but that excitement quickly soured into disappointment.
the packaging was nice. the outer package was made of very think and stiff paper. the sp itself was in its out paper bag. all the other stuff was in another sealed paper bag.
as you can see from the pics, there appears to be a concave spot in the upper right that just would not stick, no matter what i tried. it was not an air bubble. i squeeze all the air from the center out, but that area never adhered. also, none of the edges adhered either. it appears that the screen protector is warped.
i did buy one of the first ones that showed up on ebay, so it may be from an early bad batch. i contacted the seller about this issue and i'll update when they reply.
needless to say, i do NOT recommend this sp.
Nillkin makes an identical-looking glass screen protector. has anyone tried theirs?
Update 1 (4/27): the seller said they're sending me a replacement today. i'll update in about 2 weeks.
also, the giant anomaly/air bubble in the upper right corner seems to have disappeared overnight. unfortunately, the bottom right edge of the screen seems to have lifted up more (new pic below). with the screen on, it's actually not that bad. it appears as a slight haze at the corners. still, i'm not happy with the SP. hopefully the replacement won't have this problem.

I got the replacement this week. Unfortunately, it's more of the same. The SP just doesn't want to stick to the sides. Oh well ... At least with the screen on, you can barely tell. I guess I'm used to it by now. I still wouldn't recommend this SP.

yes. it was exactly like every other half a dozen screen protectors i've installed over the past few years.
they're all the same. clean the screen. peel protective plastic off screen protector. align with phone. stick to phone.

aside from the "air bubble" how are the edges? does it fully stick to the S6 screen edges since they curve? it looks great other than the bubbles and also i'm certain Nilkin uses the same product just branded for them

Unless if I'm looking at it incorrectly, it seems that the home button is not a perfect fit on there..... Or is that just the angle?

no, at least not all the way around. look at the new pic i uploaded. notice at the corners where there are light spots (circled in red or blue). that's where the SP doesn't adhere to the screen.
i checked before installation and there was adhesive even in the colored parts of the SP. this wasn't the case in their versions for the iPhone, which eventually led to dirt getting under the sides and the SP lifting.

the cutout is precise and slightly bigger than the home button. but since the SP is thicker, the home button is now slightly recessed (refer to the new pic). it's a little different feeling at first, but you quickly get used to it. it also doesn't affect the fingerprint scanning function.

Just installed this screen protector. Pretty pleased with the results. It stuck right up to the edges.
My Spigen case caused a bit of a problem though. It lifted up the edges of protector and caused halo effect. Resolved the problem by sanding down the inside edge of the case by a fraction of a millimeter.

Is this oeleophobic? I got a decent protector without this coating and I hate it.

I'm not sure. I got it off ebay and the product info given by the seller said it is. However I couldn't see anything on the product itself when it arrived to confirm this. I've never found that oeleophobic screens work very well anyway.

I have the one from Nillkin, but I didn't buy it from ebay, I got it from a local retailer. I have no problems with it.
And yes, it looks the same as the one reviewed here. But maybe at the time the OP of this thread bought these protectors they were like just introduced, maybe in the begining all of them had this problem. After all, after some months, the accesories are very diversified and you can choose a fair amount of brands.

I mean which tempered glass do you use?

Possible tempered glass fix

This is experiential.
Most of curved tempered glass only has adhesive on the perimeter. This can adversely affect touch sensitivity.
Recently, I discovered a type of glue (LOCA or liquid optical clear adhesive) which requires UV light to fix. This is possible to be used as "filler".
Before installing for real for first time, use two unused glass plate
Put a drop of glue and glass #1 and cure it and feel it. If it's like "credit card glue" (weak adhesive and easy to remove), try to bond with same glue. Put another drop on glass A and bond it with glass B and cure the bond. If the glass can be separated without too much effort. Go to the real work.
The phone MUST be on 100% leveled surface to avoid mess. Drop the glue on the middle of the screen from top to bottom (or bottom to top)
Put on the glass plate and observe the glue spread evenly. You can apply a bit pressure to push out excessive glue, and wipe away leaked glue.
Use UV light to cure the glue. The duration depends on the previous experiment. If the glue cured after 15 minutes, it takes 20-25 minutes to cure.
Hopefully this method can help touch and fingerprint scanner issue.
You need a weak and easy to remove bond so you won't break the screen upon removal.

Im thinking about "fixing" my cracked screen like this sort of. Using the loca between the phone and the glass screen protector to hopefully fill in the small crack channel and not be a botherance.

I've used Loca for other phones. That stuff is really durable, even on phones with curved screens. Looking to test this with my Edge.

Um there are tempered glass protector screens that use UV based adhesives...
If you go this route probably should clean off the adhesive on the protector and use just the UV cure bonding. Otherwise you will probably run into issues with screen placement and air bubbles.

I bought them and they arrived and they're pretty easy to apply if you're used to Whitestone Dome Glass screen protectors.
You dont get a jig to fit them perfectly like Whitestone provide and the glass itself it not as good either but for the amount they cost they're actually good and fit well.

Could you please show me what these protective glass panes actually look like? And if it's not hard for you , please show how they look on the phone.

I decided to glue the glass with UV adhesive. Films are torture already peeled on the side edges.
It turned out not so great clearances between the glass and the cover on the sides. My finger doesn't cling to the edge of the glass.
Oleophobic not bad. Glued Mocolo glass with UV adhesive for Sams S20 +, it will be worse.
The frontal camera shoots fine, the image is not blur out from the glue, there is no distortion.
Touchscreen, fingerprint work fine.
The seller said that the glass is from Imac. I didn't buy it in China, I bought it in my home country. But I think this IS IT

I like the no hole style much better as a hole collects trash, is unattractive and complicated installation.
It does add extra layers of refraction* and extra material that will degrade the image to some degree. Since I rarely use the front cam this be a fair tradeoff for me, but some may notice and not like it.
*screen glass>adhesive>glass protector, 2 extra refraction zones that the light needs to pass through.

I don't know, I don't see any distortions.

I was wondering if you could provide any feedback. How does the fingerprint and touch sensitivity do after installing? How well do they resist scratches and oil? Are they easy to remove? Can they be used with as shell or bumper? Anything else someone should know before buying them?

What is the Edge 5g? Is that a 3rd Edge variant apart from the Edge + and Edge regular (both of whom have 5g)? Its really confusing.

Cleaning the inside screen

I've waited for the manual to appear on the website before asking this. Unfortunately, it makes no mention of it.
The inside screen is a fingerprint magnet. What am I meant to use to keep it clean?

I used a lightly damp micro-fiber cloth.. and rubs lightly..

First, we're not cleaning the screen. We're cleaning a pretty foggy cheap-ass screen protector. The "screen protector" on the OG Fold was actually part of the display substrate and was crystal clear and very sturdy. Looking at the camera cutout you can see that what's under our screen protector looks a lot like the display from the OG Fold. I'm going to take the screen protector off probably sooner than later.
Here's a diagram of the layers of the Fold 2's display. I believe the cheap-ass screen protector covers what's shown as the protective layer. I believe the protective layer was what people called a screen protector on the OG Fold and hosed the display when they tried to peel it off.

As for cleaning I'm doing what I did with my OG Fold. I have a dedicated microfiber sponge that I wet and put a drop of dish soap on then squeeze it out so it's just moist. It cleans the screen well. I also have dedicated device cleaning microfiber towels that I dry it off with. I occasionally wax the display with 100% carnauba wax to get anything off it sponging doesn't. The wax repels fingerprints and anything else that could stick to the screen. After eight months my OG Fold's display looks new. It was a lot less sturdy than the Fold 2 so I expect equal or better results cleaning the Fold 2 the same way. The OG Fold wasn't nearly as fragile as people expected it to be and the Fold 2 which is far better engineered should hold up even better.

I would resist the temptation to clean the screen to often. Unlike the outer screen you don't tend to look at it while it is off minimising the appearance of finger grease. Finger grease also helps to hide the multitude of micro scratches you will pick up with regular cleaning. Yes the only damage you will do is to a replaceable screen protector but getting it replaced is a difficult mission. Samsung say they can do it but might need to send it away.

FWIW, I got through to Samsung themselves and asked the question and they said to take a dry, microfibre cloth, and clean in a circular motion.

That sounds about right. But if there is grit or sand on the screen, dragging it around with a microfiber cloth will still cause scratches. I won't clean my screen unless I really have to.

I took off that garbage screen protector cause my finger cannot glide smoothly with it on while I'm playing games which is the only reason I bought the fold. I clean with a microfiber cloth every night using light pressure. Sometimes I roll up the cloth and use it like a feather duster, lol. The fingerprints come right off and I have no micro scratches at all. I've had the thing for a few months now

You could apply RainX to the screen to make it easier to clean or use a windshield cleaner with it in as a wetting agent + microfiber cloth for cleaning.
I do this sometimes with my screen protector.

Try a liquid screen protector, take your pick from Amazon/eBay, etc.
I'm not a dentist, but, I'd steer clear of using toothpaste on anything transparent. Most toothpastes have some form of abrasive.......

if you try to remove the scratches, you will also remove the Oleophobic coating on the screen. only way to remove it without causing more damage is to replace the screen. otherwise, leave it alone, apply a screen protector(tempered glass) and move on .

Yeah I know it just hurts seeing them if there is a way to reduce them I will gladly apply a protector after that

Try one of the liquid screen protectors I mentioned earlier. It will help to hide the scratches by restoring the oleophobic coating.
Of course, no matter what, eventually the coating is going to wear away.
As to how long it lasts is not an exact science, YMWV depending on how much you use your phone.

Yes and my s22 is f up but my old galaxy note 5 got no scraches without using any screen protector

There is not really any fix for this other than just changing the screen but only if you really want to change. Im sure these minor scratches wont really affect the integrity of the screen unlike major cracks or scratches. Thats why I always make sure to go with a good Screen Protector cause damages like these are irreversible.
Im using the Screen Protector from Gadgetshieldz which has self-heal so this heals the minor scratches. Ive been using this for a while now and got no need to change it soo far. You can probably just go with this cause they also have options to cover the whole device with these protectors including sides, back and camera. Ive noticed scuffs and scracthes on the back of the device after using good quality cases and these occur cause of the dust thats settling inside. This is also a problem when selling your device so I went with skins to protect all parts of my device.
The Full-Body protector takes care of these too!
There are days when I dont want to use a case so the skins I use provide a good grip too which gives me more confidence on a no-case day!

Thanks you. I put on Whitedome Glass Screen Protector and it hid all micro scratches. Isn't that easy to put on but did good.
