I have recently purchased a HTC Touch / ELF (So i thought) from eBay.
Turns out it was a CLONE.
To make matters worse it is hanging on the Windows Mobile screen.
Also, a hard reset is not working. Im not even sure it can do a hard reset.
There are also no Red numbers when the phone starts.. does this phone not have a boot loader?
Can i fix this phone at all? I really would love too do so..
I will pay £5 maybe more, to anyone who can get my phone working!
Payment will be made through PAYPAL.
Thanks people!
Lee.

I'm not sure, but even after thinking it may be a clone, you miiiight want to try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379318 there.
Can you take any pictures of it?
Just curious, have you tried manually entering bootloader?
Sorry guys just got a reply from another seller of the same phone on ebay.
Turns out the phone does have a bootloader..kind of.. you can hard reset but flashing is not possible.
To enter boot loader you have to hold volume up, camera, and soft reset, then middle button i belive.. i presssed it anyway..
Thanks anyway guys.

Yep. Take a look at the link in the first post. There are tiny differences. Weight, screw placements, serial's, performance etc..
Hallo DesireZ Fans,
i give a DesireZ this year to my girlfriend on chrismas, but i can feel, that the power button is near of hisend of life.
So could someone told me, how a can get a repair part for this button ?
I already searched on google, but i cant find it ...
Regards,

Old post, sorry.
I had the same problem. I had the stock HTC software in it as well so I couldn't boot the phone, unlock the screen. Totally useless without the power button.
I then had to have the motherboard replaced, partly due to me forgetting to remove the SD-card when removing the back cover oops. 260 euros later I now have working phone again. Was it worth it? I'll leave this for You to decide.
Hello All,
I bought the google nexus S (Nexus 2) from ebay India around Jan 2013. Around the beggining of this month the power button stopped working, it was responding intermittently, I took it to Samsung service center but they would'nt look at it. Took it to a local store near my home, they got it working but only temporarily for about 2 weeks. I decided to do factory reset and go back to Stock GingerBread as I had bootloader unlocked and rooted it and had custom 4.3.2 Slim bean rom. But now it doesnt boot... It goes to the screen which shows "Google" with unlock symbol and then dies down and again goes back to the screen that says "Google". Can anyone please help me repair this...?
One more thing... I took it to another private repair guy and he mentioned that the power button not working is common with this phone and it is a software issue not hardware...

With less than 24 hours of use, the touchscreen on my brand new Xperia Z3 Dual (D6633) stopped working. The phone was activated on the T-mobile network (but was not bought at T-mobile because they do not sell the Dual SIM version). The phone has NOT been immersed in water or abused in any way. I was able to power down by holding the Power button and Volume Up buttons. Sony Support said to try and repair the software with PC Companion. That did not work. Sony said I could send it in "for evaluation", but that might take 14 days just to find out what is wrong.
At this point, when I power up I am in the language selection screen and can not continue because I can not select "Done" on the touch screen.
It was suggested that if I boot up holding the Power and Volume Down keys, I would enter "Recovery Mode" and the Volume control could then be used to move up and down on the screen to make selections. However, I enter "Safe Mode" and the Volume control seems to just control the volume (at least there is a volume control slide graphic that seems to indicate the level of volume).
Any thoughts as to how to fix this or is this simply a bad unit that should be replaced with a new working unit?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Better use warranty to get a new one.
What failed -- digitizer or electronics controlling digitizer?

I think I might have to go through the lengthy process of a warranty return though I was hoping there would be a quicker fix.
Does anybody know what could have caused this? How do I know if it is the digitizer or if it is the electronics that controls the digitizer?
Z3 touchscreen
i have exactly the same issue, would love to hear from you as to if you managed to resolve it?
Still waiting with bad touchscreen.

I'm still waiting for a response from the seller, an online store.
I'll post back when I get some results.
similar but not exactly the same
I have similar trouble with Xperia Z3 Dual Sim , TouchScreen frequently stop responding for about 2-3 second , after that it will be ok,it happens 4-5 times from yesterday that I bought my new Xperia Z3 Dual and it's really annoying.
It seems Sony sucks on Xperia Z3 TouchScreens.
Hey!
Recently my physical buttons fell off. I have my old S9 Plus.
I don't have volume buttons. I don't have power button.
I tried using some kind of needle to turn on the phone but it doesn't work. Is there anyway I would be able to do that?
Keep in mind that I cannot go to recovery and I cannot go to download mode. The only thing I can do is go to battery mode when I connect the phone to charger.
Thank you for reading!
Take it to authorized repair center and let them try to fix it r buy a new phone.

I did but they have told me that they are not able to replace the buttons. They have to replace the whole motherboard and that is basically the price of a new phone. I'm not willing to pay that much.
Then put it into e-waste.
