Hi all. New to the forum and based in the UK. Recently got a Redmi K30 Pro 6GB. Currently it is running MIUI 11.0.16 Stable QJKCNXM. I got the from sent from Hong Kong so unsure if it has .EU or China rom. To be honest I just switched from iOS as I've been using that for 10+ years so I'm a little unsure of the whole Android side of things even though I am quite techy.
Basically, what I want to know is:
1. Am I on China Rom or EU Rom based on what I mentioned above.
2. Is it possible to run a stock Android 10 on the phone rather than using MIUI (or any other software you recommend?)
3. If I can't do number 2, then maybe updating to MIUI 12 might fix some of the things I dislike about MIUI 11 such as delayed notifications from many apps despite them not being restricted and having all permissions enabled. Is there a MIUI12 download available with guide?
I already have made a full local backup and have also backed up to the cloud.
First post, so couldn't post in another forum which seemed more in line with what I'm asking but hoping the mods will move it if they feel the need. Thanks!

1. It's CN ROM. If during the initial setup you can only choose between English and China, it's stock CN ROM.
2. For now, you can't as there is no stock AOSP (pure) Android custom ROM yet. But you can unlock the bootloader and install Xiaomi.EU modded version of the CN ROM (both MIUI 11 and 12), which has bloated CN apps removed and is customized to be a global ROM.
3. CN MIUI 12 Stable is already available. You can check for update from your phone (Settings \ MIUI version \ Check for updates). If there is still no update, it's probably still in closed testing and will be available later.
But upgrading OS only may not fix the problem you have with the notification.
For the apps with delayed notification in either MIUI 11 or 12, you should try to turn on their Autostart option and set their Battery saver mode as No restrictions in App Info page.

Thank you. Is there any beginner/newbie guide to getting the EU rom on my phone? Doing this, do I lose everything? I have a full local backup but will that backup actually reload the chinese bloatware back on?

Yes, you will lose all data because you have to unlock the bootloader first. You can restore the backup and depending on what the backup contains, it might restore some bloatware.
Apply here for bootloader unlock
https://en.miui.com/unlock/
Then flash twrp recovery then miui eu, and restore whatever you need

Thanks. Looking at the backup folder there are plenty of the bloatware apps in there (all .bak files). If I put them all back on will I be able to delete them naturally within the phone (currently you cannot delete them from within the phone as they are blocked from being deleted). Another option is for me to remove those .bak files from the backup folder but wondering would that be an issue at all?
When you say flash TWRP....how is that done?
Thanks for all the replies so far. Really helpful!

Yes you will 100% be able to delete them afterwards, as they will be stored in data, not in the system partition which is read-only. So you can do a full restore, delete unwanted apps and then do a better backup file without bloatware.

So here are my limitations.
I have a Samsung S5 but it's the Straight Talk branded version, the SM-903VL. The issue with this S5 is the bootloader is locked so to root the phone you need to downgrade to 4.4 test firmware, root the test firmware then take the cache.img and system.img from another S5 rom, the G900V's stock rom, then move that over and replace the test firmware's cache.img and system.img to get a functional and rootable and full featured operating system on the SM-903VL.
You can read more about it here if it helps you understand better what I'm talking about.
Well, once the G900V's stock rom is on the SM-903VL and it's rooted, you can install Safestrap and then run quite a few different roms through Safestrap!
What I'm wanting to do is take the applications from the extremely debloated stock rom installed on the 1st rom slot and move them to the original rom and not even have to use Safestrap.
So I want to take all the applications on ROM 2, which is slimmed down and extremely lean, and move them to ROM 1 while not just moving the apps from ROM 2, but discarding all the apps originally on ROM 1.
What would be an effective way to do that? I might just try to do it by hand one app at a time through Titanium Backup but there has to be a better way?
So I answered my own question. In case anyone looks up the phone model I have via Google search, they'll maybe find this thread and it'll inspire them to do a similar endeavor.
I used Titanium Backup Pro to back up all user apps, system apps and data while inside ROM 2.
I then moved that all to an external SD card.
Then I went through the process of setting up the phone by putting the phone back into it's stock form with the G900V stock rom. Those directions on how to do that are in the hyperlinked thread above.
Once the G900V ROM was rooted on the Straight Talk SM-903VL Samsung S5 as directed above in the aforementioned thread, I then used Titanium Backup Pro to ''restore'' the system apps, user apps and data onto the Stock G900V rom.
Then, with all the apps from the extremely debloated rom installed now onto the phone, I proceed to adjust the filters to only show apps not backed up. That allowed me to see ALL the apps I needed to remove while keeping all the apps I needed to have a functional rom.
I then used Titanium Backup Pro to uninstall everything that wasn't backed up. From there I had an extremely debloated stock ROM that someone else had created for the G900V (that was impossible to flash since the SM-903VL's bootloader is locked down tight)
Hello everyone, so I'm new on flashing custom Roms on my device (bored of Miui doesn't get updates too often and no cam2api) and i have some questions I would like to get answered from the advanced xda'ers!
Right now i'm Havoc OS which feels really smooth and battery is great but sadly Dev announced the rom is dropped so no more updates.
1. Should it be a problem if i stay on Havoc OS and don't get any future updates anyway for a long time?
2. If I want to move to another ROM I should "Clean flash" it? (Wipe everything which is boring)
3. If i move to another ROM, I will have to clean flash every update which is ridiculously boring?
4. What is the best way to Backup your device and move Everything from a Custom Rom to another when you have to "Clean flash"
5. How safe is it to make Money transactions on a Custom Rom with Root access on it and how can i prepare myself safe on it?
Thanks in advance

1) if you're comfortable with the ROM you'll be fine for 1-2 months. Honestly you'll just be behind on security updates (this might be an issue in relation to your last question)
2) you should clean flash between ROMs or you will have issues. Use an app like "migrate" from the play store to speed it up.
3) you only have to clean flash between custom ROMs. Updates to an existing ROM can be flashed over the old one. So very fast like an miui OTA update.
4) see migrate app in the play store. Should do what you want. Individual apps can be backed up with root and titanium backup. Use an SD card to move files around to keep them safe when wiping data
5) not as safe as MIUI and locked bootloader maybe... But I've personally not had issues using banking apps as normal with root. Just don't install apps you don't trust. If an app requests root when it shouldn't need it then run. Keeping the ROM up to date is important for this. Make sure the security patches are from the last 1-2 months (unless the ROM is listed as CAF where the updates will be intentionally behind but don't worry about that)

According to your answer no 5. that means it's unsafe to make transactions from Devices which get no updates anymore. I worry about that because my dad is making transactions from a Samsung Galaxy J5 2016. (security patch level 2017).

It's not as risky as it seems.
Honestly leave it to the banks to sort it out. They're very skittish about root and vulnerability so I'm sure if they considered outdated security patches to be an issue they would block the usage of the app on that device. The majority of being safe is being proactive. The user is the first line of defence against exploits so just don't install sketchy software.
There's definitely advantages to devices being up to date though and ideally we need Google to be enforcing security patches for devices for a set period of time. Some OEMs have been caught editing the build.prop to show a higher security patch level than is actually present. An area for improvement.
Overall there a pros and cons to being on stock ROM and using custom ROMs. With an unlocked bootloader you'd really want to have encrypted data and SeLinux enforcing and just don't let people have physical access to the phone.

90% of my purchases are auctions. Sometimes I'm at work chasing some last minute deals from eBay so I got no time to think about it. So I'm using my rn6pro mostly. Hope everything will go well. I will keep Havoc ROM until something similar comes up. I see there are a lot of bugs even at official roms out there.
Good evening everyone. I'm about to leave Havoc and Flash a more stable Rom. Most stable ROM right now? Maybe xiaomieu stable?

Me too. No issues with banking apps. No issues with transactions.
After a what seemed to be a long wait, my bootloader is finally unlocked. So now's the fun time.
Before I get started though, where can I actually get the ROM for my *current* device? (I have the Global version of the X3 Pro) in case I want to go back to it?
What I would like to say next, is that I am not trying to DeGoogle. I still want to be able to backup stuff on my phone to GoogleDrive, and I also plan to use a range of Google applications (Playstore, Google maps etc.). However, I would prefer if I didn't have to have the entire suite of Google application pre-installed, be able to just install what I want from the Playstore.
And this also applies for other applications. For instance, Netflix comes pre-installed on my device, but I do not use Netflix at the moment, and would much prefer not having it taking up space, and would rather be able to download it myself from PlayStore if I ever need it. Same with stuff like Facebook where I would rather use the much leaner Facebook Lite.
When people talk about "debloating", does it involve removing all traces of the pre-installed app, or is it only disabling/hiding from view?
I need root, and being able to pass safety net is preferable but not required (I keep an unrooted phone just in case, but it is old, and it would be nice if every app I may want to use will work).
Keeping those point in mind, what would make sense for me to do next?
Would it make sense to flash the xiaomi.eu and debloat? Or is it still be worthwhile to look into Lineage / Arrows even though I plan to use some GApps?
One more question, Xiaomi has it's own cloud backup system through it's Mi account. How does it differ from Google, and do custom ROM make use of those functionalities?
Thanks.
Debloating means to remove unwanted apps, usually those advertisement apps.
xiaomi.eu removed all the advertisement / sponsors apps like games etc, providing a clean MIUI experience.
Depending on the custom roms variant you installed, in general, most custom roms provide a clean android experience without any google related services. Basically like a fresh installed windows with very basic things. If you want google playstore and its related service, then you need to flash gapps and install the relevant stuffs from the apps store.
Afaik, MIUI backup is similar to titanium backup, in such that it can backup apps beyond google playstore.
Google only backup the list of playstore apps you use and data you configurated to backup.
Custom rom does not have MIUI backup for obviously because it isn't MIUI. You only can access google backup if you flash gapps.
Some people like MIUI but hate all the craps that come with it, so they either use debloater or xiaomi.eu
Some people like andriod so they use custom rom
For old phones, some people want to use latest android but stock rom has reached EOL, so they use custom rom.

Thanks. Does Xiaomi.eu count as MIUI as far as MIUI backup etc. is concerned? Since it is still a modified ROM, I wonder if it is considered a "custom" ROM or not.
TBH, I am not even sure if I -want- to link a Xiaomi account to my phone, but just in case.

One more question, where can I find information about kernels / compatibility with various ROMs etc.?
When Google I sometime see Reddit users praise a certain ROM/Kernal combination, but I never see any proper comparison. Even a feature comparison table would be handy.
xiaomi.eu is basically a debloated stock miui rom with no ads + some extra functions added from Chinese rom variant....
everything miui will work fine; it will be as if your're still on stock rom
I've been using xiaomi.eu rom for quite a while now; found no bugs.
Hello all!
Hope that's the right place to post that question
i want to downgrade my phone from android 12 to android 11 (Asus rog phone 5) because it's very unstable.
i read on the google site that the google auto-backup doesn't support downgrading, so i need a recommendation for software from someone who downgraded his/her phone to a lower version and managed to restore it later on.
Also is this process dangerous? I read the manuals on Asus official site which just talks about backup the phone, then downloading some file from the site restarting the phone and it should install it alone.
Thanks in advance for helping!

As a thumb rule, it is always risky to restore a backup of settings between versions, especially when downgrading.

If I were you, I would not backup anything and install everything manually and configure. Whatever you do, please do not back up Android 12's settings and restore them in Android 11.
Third party apps can be backed up using Titanium Backup or some similar backup tools. While restoring them, go by one app at a time so that you will know which app's backup caused issues and you can avoid restoring that app the next time.

Do a manual backup of all your personal stuff. Downgrade (A12 > A11 is really an 'upgrade' ). Then do a clean A11 setup and transfer your files over. Old school but the most solid way...

i guess i will make a combination to both
backup some apps with titanium backup (other will be downloaded normally after downgrade)
backup files from files manager through local backup connected to pc
will not backup any setting (maybe will screenshot to restore them manually)
will disconnect google from the phone
download the android 12 to android 11 from the asus site
and hope that anything that was ****ed will be normal again.
will let you know later how it went.
thanks guys.

Any recommendation for backup app for applications that doesn't require root?
If you mean that you are unrooted, then the options are limited. Certain backups require root. ADB backup & restore can also be used.
You can check up this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/need-recommendation-for-a-backup-restore-app-no-root.4401711/ and search in Google.

I just noticed that there is an official way to do this. Look for the 'Version Android 12 to Android 11' on the official asus page:

I found it while looking for an update. But also I look around here at xda to see if there is something relevant on the ROG 5.

But doing that will still require me to backup my apps which is my current problem
Hello,
Since my English is not the best, I translated the text via Google, hope you understand what I mean .....
Well, I now have the 13.0.1.0 SJKMIXM on it, but I would like to upgrade to Xiaomi.Eu (i editet now, i would change to this Rom Xiaomi.Eu Custom Rom), a simple dirty update is supposedly not possible, since full wipe is supposed to be mandatory: /
Well, the Poco also makes backups of APPS, settings, chats, email addresses and phone book ect.. in the Googlemail Cloud, now the question is, if I now update to the EU version and do the required full wipe, then it also plays itself really all settings, APPS, chats, email addresses ect.. back to the version or is the backup also version-specific or has someone already done it and can confirm that it works like this?
I just don't want to have to do everything again by hand :/
THX for info or tips
Kind regards

Changing version or downgrading requires an unlocked bootloader and this operation erases all your data.
Use Miphone assistant+Micloud+google or possibly a third-party app.
Edit:
(i editet now, i would change to this Rom Xiaomi.Eu Custom Rom)
Bootloader must be unlocked if it is,you can the use update script(only Miui 13 A12) in the zip of the rom.(backup before by security).
