Having had my Nokia 8 for almost 2 years it finally dawned on me that I could use it to back up my photos when out and about. Easy enough, but what if I wanted to be charging the phone battery at the same time?
Am I safe to assume that all I need is a standard USB-C hub into which I could plug the charger and SD card reader? And any suggestions?
Thanks
Keith

I don't know how this stuff works. So, is that going to charge any phone? I wish I could find an adapter where one cord was white on one side, I thought that was awesome on my Touch Pro.
A micro USB charger is a micro USB charger... they're pretty standard, and yes, it will work. I use an LG wall-wart for my Captivate (or the computer), and have used Blackberry chargers with Motorola products, and vice-versa.

Yup, any Micro USB will work. The only difference in chargers is the amperage at which it charges. The only way that affects the phone is how fast it will charge. The higher the number, the faster it will charge.
I'm buying a charger with this warning:
"This battery charger cannot operate your Micro USB cell phone when attached to a discharged cell phone battery"
What the hell does that mean? I honestly think it is just nonsense.
I have an epic and captivate..and so far only 2 of my micro usb chargers dont charge..both chargers came with bluetooth headsets...
Plus my GF's Droid ONLY and it would ONLY charge with the oem charger that it came with..if she uses the one that it came with my epic the screen will go "crazy"...starts to detects non existing touch inputs, some others wont charge...
Hi
I bought 5 cheap micro USB cables to have one everywhere.
At first they seem to work, but charging is a LOT slower. I even think that it stops charging at some point (the phone will report 100% battery but in fact it could be 50%). Data transfer and ADB works fine.
I tested with two Galaxy S and they both had the same issue.
Anybody noticed the same? Is there something I should look for when buying micro USB cables to make sure they do charge my phone?
guys, I am having this problem from day 2 of having TF. First day was charging fine. Second day I had to play with the wire and reset the device then it charged. Today, NO CHARGING AT ALL!!!!
I tried to the piece that goes to the AC out , but still nothing happening. I connected to my PC, and it recognizes the TF and I can view its files, but with no charging!! Is that normal or what??? Does yours charge when you connected to your PC?? What should I do? Should I call Asus? if yes, what number? or should I return it to Best Buy.??
Help, please ....
I don't think the TF charges when connected to a computer but others have said it does but at a very slow rate. I've heard others say it does slowly only w the screen off as well.
It sounds like you may have a defective charger or charger port on the TF.
Do you have any other USB AC plug adaptors you could try? I know many of them don't put out the same power but may be worth a shot.

I tried a different USB AC plug, but no luck. I guess I am going to return it to Best Buy.
You need to make sure your using the USB cable that came with the TF and the outlet device that came with the cable/TF...
The TF charges at a higher rate than USB from the PC. So, the TF uses a USB 3.0 cable (included - most cables purchased are USB 2.0) which had more pins and allows for faster charging/higher charge rate.
Using the computer will only "trickle" charge. Using a USB 2.0 cable with the TF setup will prevent it from charging or only "trickle" charge....
I did not use any other cable or outlet device beside the one that came with the TF.
It seems it only syncs, but it does NOT charge !!!
I took it to Best Buy they said we can refund the money to your credit or choose another tablet because they don't have it in stock.
I don't want another tablet. If I had to, I will go to iPad 2
3 days now and I am having no issues at all.
I called ASUS, and they said its from the adapter, and I can not use any USB adapter like apple's. So, they want me to send it back to them, and they will do diagnostic at everything and will return it to me.
Hi I noticed a while ago that pin 30 on my charging port of my tablet was lifted some so I pushed it down with a toothpick. There wasnt an issue with the tablet before, it was just something I noticed. I ordered a cable from ebay, probably a knock off, and it worked for both charging (with the use of the p1000 adapter) and for data transfer. I was using the tablet mostly for debugging and movies. I recently had it charging for a while using the rocketfish usb hub and the p1000 adapter. I tried to plug in my tablet to the pc with and without the adapter and my pc was telling me that it had an unknown device plugged in. I looked up what exactly pin 30 was and it is a ground pin. My question is would that pin affect the ability for the pc to data transfer and recognize the device? The cable currently only works for charging and that is with or without the P1000 adapter. Other than that it gives me an unknown device when plugged into the pc. I dont have another tablet or cable to test so I may just order an official cable and charger if the ground shouldnt be an issue.
Have you installed Kies? Windows cannot recognize samsung galaxy devices without it
My cable stopped charging all together. I ordered another data cable to see if my original cable was faulty. Hopefully that was the problem all along.
I got my new cable in which btw is alot more sturdier than the last. I plugged it in anticipating an error and behold! My pc recognized my tablet and began to charge. The data part works because it instantly showed that the tablet was in debug mode. So my pins were not a problem, just my cheap chinese tablet cable. P.S. I did not have to install that software and if in the future I come across a problem then I will try out the software. Unless there is a benefit to installing the samsung software? feels like an iTunes type of software. Thanks for the suggestions and hopefully this will help others in the future.
:good:
Thank you for posting your fix for your question. It drives me crazy when people ask a question. Then later reply nvm I figured it out. (And don't explain what they did) or not even reply at all.
I think I have same issue. My stock cable won't charge anymore. Do you have a link where you bought new charger? Or what store did you go to?
I ordered one from amazon and it was a knockoff that gets a red x over battery icon :/

Did you order cable only?
Are you sure there is nothing wrong with the charger base?

No I order this combo kit with wall charger, car charger and 30 pin USB cable. From amazon
Weird cause the car charger works amazing. Can watch Netflix w/ full brightness and still charge. While the wall charger will only charge if shut down
But about original charger. I was mistaken. I had a 6ft. Extention cord that I would plug it into cause original cord is way to short. And come to find out it was the extention causing the issue.
But I'm still interested in a Spare wall charger that actually works. Lol where did you get yours. Is it just as good as stock

I've experienced the same with extention cord, wonder why the amps get lost on the way into the battery?

Well technically the extention cord isn't putting out the same amount of amps as the wall outlet. Especially when the gauge of the wire is way smaller most likely. But I like to use my tablet while charger and refuse to 3ft away from wall so its kinda neccessary lol
Hello guys,
I have a 1~2 yr old 5V 1A charger that I would like to use to charge my Pixel (non XL) overnight. The included 3A charger heats up the phone a lot, and I really don't need the speed at night.
The thing is that this charger comes with a micro usb (charge only, no data) cable that I'd like to use. For this of course, I am using a TechMatte micro usb to Usb C adapter that I bought a few months ago.
Is there any problem with this? Will the adapter cause the phone to draw power differently, or to behave differently when it comes to stopping the charge once it reaches 100%?
Sorry if this is an absurd question, I just don't want anything bad to happen to my brand new Pixel.
Thank you in advance
I've been using my existing micro USB cables with a converter head from Anker without any issues for more than a month now!
I think as long as the adapter have the 56kΩ resistor you should be safe, but really I highly doubt there are any benefits to slow charging (even if fast charging is making the phone warmer).

I'm with you on this one generally, I personally don't hang on to a phone for too long before upgrading so longevity only needs to be 1-2 years. For someone looking to get the absolute most out of a device, I could see why heat would be a concern. More heat typically translates to more wear and tear of the innards. Even if it's by a negligible amount... lol
Also, Samsung might have people paranoid that their phones are going to blow up... just sayin
