So like 20 days sgo, i noticed that my rear camera is not working proper. But the front one is being excelent.
So i though " if i change the rom maybe it gonna work again", and here im am, using the evolution rom
And my rear camera is taiing blurrt photos and not focusing.... And there is no " dust" on it.
So:
1- is there any app or somehow to test the cameras? Both
2- if thats possible, is there any form to change the cameras? I mean using the secondary one.
And
3- should i try to clean it? I've gotta figure out how to dissamble the phone.
Ive fixed it, dissambled then cleaned it

Hello, I have recently noticed that my phone (HTC TP, ROM 1.90.404.1) takes odd pictures, I think it has something to do with the frequency and/or intensity of the light that comes from the object you're taking a picture of.
I have added a photo that I took, in the picture you see a lamp aimed at the ceiling. Note the weird colors.
I only have this problem with the 3.2 MP camera on the back, the camera on the front of the device is fine. Now I didn't buy the phone for it's camera quality, so it doesn't bother me that much. But I'm still curious.
Does anyone know whats going on?
regardles if you bought it for the camera function or not.
the camera function is on youre phone and it should work.
looks like youre camera doesnt work goed, so if it was my phone, i brought it back for repair.
Bump.
E-mailed HTC via the support site, waiting for a reply.
I don't want to have to hard reset
Anyone got any ideas?
This is probably a faulty device. I'd return it.
The photo looks normal to me
Did you store any kind of mind-driving / psychidelic substances near your Touch Pro?
Well a hard reset did not fix it.
I suppose I'll start looking into the return policy/warranty while I wait for a reply from HTC.
OK well another update.
The good news is I figured out what is causing it.
The problem is the IR filter or rather lack thereof. I asked around and someone told me I should aim a remote control at the lens, press buttons and see what happens. Well I see a nice bright flash on my screen whenever I press a button
Now how to fix it. I think placing a simple IR-filter in front of the lens might do the trick.
Looks like the hardware is fine.

This is not your problem. ALL digital cameras do the same 'trick', even my 12 MegaPixel super Olympus i've just got. I've even used this behavior to help fix a broken remote a few years back.

Awww but the effect seemed the same. So maybe it's still something to do with the frequency?

Looks Poloraized, bad senor if u ask me.
When I take pictures with the front facing camera they come out looking pretty blurry and very bad quality. Is there something I am doing wrong? Does this happen to anyone else? The regular camera is fine but not the front facing camera.

are you sure noting is blocking the front camera? My front camera is fine. even though with less mpix it takes decent pictures under a good light.
Nothing is blocking it. Maybe it is just my phone

It might be but before doing any actions. Try something like instagram and see it that makes any change. If not master reset your phone and try again. If that step does not help. If you are under warranty get a warranty replacement.
Did you make sure the lens is clean? I remember when I first got my S3, I freaked out because of blurry pictures, but then I realized the lens had a film over it and just needed a good wipe.

I will check that out. I never cleaned it lol
Okay I feel like I'm in serious trouble here.
I'm not a complete noob with phones, I have some competence, but I've hit a wall with this one.
I flashed many different ROM's onto my HTC One S to find one that I liked, and I finally got one, the Dark Jelly S ROM. However, the big problem is the camera. When I launch the app, it recognises the front facing camera, but not the rear camera? So I tried a ROM which I knew worked with the rear facing camera, and it still couldn't switch from the front facing one! So I installed Phone Explorer to see what the hardware was, and the rear facing camera chip doesn't even show up! Is it something to do with drivers, because I really don't think it'll be a hardware problem.
Sorry if I'm just missing something really obvious! But this is urgent and I have no clue where to go!
Thankyou in advance for any help! =]
I have two Photon's with a defective front facing camera. I was wondering if there are any more XT897 users with this issue?
I know at least one of the camera's was working fine untill a couple of days ago. The other, well I'm not sure. I'm curious if this is just bad luck or maybe it's a design flaw like the the way the speaker is mounted in the XT894 (same speaker as XT897, had to swap one). I'm waiting for a new digitizer to replace. I'll have a look at that one to see if there's any wear & tear to be found. I hope it's just a bad connection or something. If I remember correctly, this camera uses a ribbon flat cable. So hopefully it's as easy as cleaning and correctly reconnecting it.
I just really, r e a l l y, hate disassembling the XT897 front housing
Front cam works here. I had another xt897, it met an unfortunate glass of water. Front cam worked fine on that one too, before its misfortune...

The problem with these two phones is that the apps don't even see the camera. I am unable to select/swap camera's. So it has to be a hardware fault. And that worries me. One of these phones has never been opened. The other one, I can`t remember.
Will post here as soon as I get that new digitizer. After that I will open one up and see if I can fix it simply by cleaning/re-connecting the camera.
Guys,
Stock LG G5 H830
Software 20o
Build NRD90U
Kernel 3.18.31
swappa sealed tmobile H830 like 3 months ago
just couple of days ago main camera was stuck out of focus and cam app crashed everytime
now app just crash
third party cam apps work on the wide angle camera but dont see the main one
selfie camera works
just the main camera dont
googling around i found that many people have that same issue
looks like it was the big flaw on the H830
so, i am tempted to replace the main camera module and see what happens
there is a couple of places that sell the cam module for 39.99 and even one at 19.99
but, i dont think is the OEM one, maybe a knock off
or i can get a fair condition G5 and remove the camera to replace mine
any recommendations will be appreciated
Peace
Max.

Pheeew!!
i thought for a moment that i was the only one with the issue
i ordered a cam module also and will arrive today
so, im next to the mailbox waiting for the delivery truck!
hope that the replacement procedure will be not that hard
however i am not sure if the module is OEM or no and if the modules are "married" to the main board in anyway
looking forward to know your results
Peace
Max.
Ok, so i just installed the new camera module
and
same thing
camera app crashes every time
and with a third party cam app ( open cam )
i can only access the wide angle 8m camera and the front selfie camera
What i will do next is to do the factory reset
i will loose all the apps and configurations
im guessing that was my 1st move instead of ordering a new 16m camera module
maybe the one i removed its good
or is a big flaw on the motherboard
i will keep you guys posted
Max.
Ok
bad news guys
the factory reset wont helped
the camera app keeps crashing as soon as i press the icon, Main camera dont work
anymore even with the new camera module i just received
I use to have a G4 that was hit by the bootloop issue
now a G5 with defective main camera
i dont like SAMSUNG at all... but looks like i will need to reconsider it
LG have gave me nothing but a bad aftertaste
And i love the G5 camera and overall the whole phone
but when it was working 100%
i cant stand the look of the quasi fish eye of the wide angle camera
so i need a working main camera
i dont know if to get those FAIR condition SWAPPA phones or ditch the G5 platform entirely
what you guys think
any recommendations other than the G5
Thanks for letting me vent
Max.

Hey so you got the Fulmics room
is it good ?
bad thing is that you loose the LG cam app right ?
its not the sensor but the software that make the pics to come up nice with the LG cam app
Can somebody port the LG cam app so it can be used with other rooms
that would be soo good
and not... havent installed with the KDZ
what do i need to do , can you point me to the thread to do an H830 KDZ restore
can i donwgrade ? i am not rooted and dont have the custom TWRP installed

Hello guys. I have the lg g5 with the same problem. The problem is the oil inside of the camera that lubes the mechanical zoom. It is of cheapest grade and the heat of your pocket and sunlight make the oil break down and almost sieze the mechanism like a car engine. But there is a temp fix only. Buying more cameras is not the solution because they still have the same scrappy oils.
The temp fix::
So first open the camera app.
Bring it to wide angle first
Then try zooming in sonit switches to normal camera
Obviously it will still be out of focus so next you have make a fist. Trust me sounds crazy. Ok so you will give it a smack on the back near the cameras but when smacking it make sure not to break anything. Its only to give the camera a jolt downwards to release the mechanism and it will start auto refocusing. Might not work on the first smack..I had to smack it 4 times til I seen the camera refocusing.
Remember this is only a temporary fix!!! I have had to smack the camera several times after when trying to take pictures and videos. But it should work for those few moments to capture a scene or a pic. Good luck...if you would like to see a video on how I smack the phone properly let me know directly on my email.
