Received my phone from Vodafone awaiting EE.
The good
Lovely design
Nice large bright screen not as vibrant as Huawei or Samsung but 120hz refresh rate and QHD combo more then makes up for it. Speakers nice clear and loud.
The pain
Single SIM
No theme store
Only ceramic option
Why removes these important features for the UK/EU market? Charge a premium for product with reduced features
Oppo have bizzare policy or is it forced upon them?

There are plenty of dual SIM phones direct from network providers. Huawei oppo Samsung, most flagship ships in 2020.

have you seen any high end flagships that are dual sim this year? Samsung huawei etc? as far as I know the Samsung s20 series and p40 series are both single sim in the UK. I think the only exception might be the one plus but that's a three exclusive network wise

I've reviewed every single flagship of 2020 and all of them come with dual SIM and S20 series also has esim option, essentially you could have 2 Sims and one esim. 3 numbers on one phone.

ahh didn't know that. but I can't be dealing with another exynos phone and the lack of no Google on the p40 series affects some of my banking apps here.
Doesn't seem to have proper Google Play certification yet in the UK so unable to download Netflix for instance. This the same for everyone?

No issue with Netflix works fine.
So i was not dreaming.. i look everywhere the theme store in my Find X2 pro ! Why don't we have it ? i don't get it
And by the way, i did the test and this phone can play 8K vidéo without any problems ! maybe we will have the ability to shoot in 8K format with just an update as this phone is technically capable of doing it

That is a genuine issue with Samsung and Huawei.
I'm very curious to know how you can get 3 numbers (sim sim esim) on the phones with max 2 IMEI numbers. Can you please enlighten me?

May I ask?
Is the phone loud when ringing?
Reason I ask, just a bit hard of hearing.
I know that the ringtone sounds louder but not when it's actually taking a call.
Thank you.

As far as buying, see the following thread for details:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/find-x2-pro/help/oppo-thailand-global-2025-dual-sim-512gb-t4108975
We used PARCL... It's a buying forwarding service. There's a forwarder named Jon... At least 1 other person beside myself used him and got phone extremely fast (about a week or so)... It does add some cost but well worth it to get 512GB 12GB Dual SIM CPH2025 Version. PARCL is fairly straight forward on how to use...
As far as the flashing goes....
Just download the OTA (I did from UK Oppo Site) and then restart phone in bootloader / fastboot mode... (hold power button / down) , it will ask for language first then ask if you want to use built in storage to apply OTA manually, then find it you download in download folder select it and say yes and it will update. I'm sure some has more thorough instructions out there or on XDA... very easy to do
Biggest thing to remember is that Flashing OTA manually is only allowed if the OTA Build is same age or later version of what is on your phone.... for instance, you can flash .21 PU Thai to .18 EU because both are the May release of google security updates... In my case, I'm on the June security update EU Rom .24, if I wanted to go back to PU, I would have to wait for the equivalent ROM which is .23 PU and be able to download it somewhere completely, I don't believe I can go back to .18 PU at this point since it is older... Any older version will start to flash onto phone but will error out before anything is altered on the phone by Oppo for not being the same revision or newer..
hope that makes it clear as mud.....

I am in the USA and I am on Cricket Wireless. So I have to buy the phone at full retail price. AT&T said that they will unlock it for me if I buy it at full retail price.
So I don't know if I should go with the Snapdragon or the Exynos version.
The Snapdragon version is about $700 from AT&T. While the Exynos version is $584.98 from amazon. The Exynos version is also the international version and I do go to Europe, Japan, and New Zealand. I don't need the LTE bands. 18mbps on HSPA+ plus is good enough for what I need. I just need it for directions and web browsing.
My biggest concern is which model is the most third party ROM compatible. If I buy this phone then I need to keep it for several years; and let's be honest most Android vendors don't really update their phones. So at some point I will need to put a third party ROM on it to extend the phones life.
The SuperMan-Rom appears to be the popular third party ROM for the S7. Is the SuperMan-ROM compatible with the S7 (non-Edge)?
So based all on of these variables which S7 model should I buy?
Thanks in advance!
The snapdragon just got root like 2 weeks ago so we don't even have a recovery module yet nor a truly unlocked bootloader, if I were you, I would get a international model because development is not hindered by a carrier which should mean much more options down the road
Don't buy the crappy useless carrier version. Buy the exynos version(SM-G930F) if Samsung pay is not important. But if you need US warranty and Samsung pay then Samsung released the official US unlocked version (SM-G930U snapdragon) last week. I would choose between one of these since you are anyway paying full price. Don't buy the crippled carrier version with their ugly logos and crap.
Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
1.Use swappa.com. Both versions are under 500 there.
2. I have owned both on tmobile. Other than volte/wifi/video calling features, the international model is better, with superior battery life and similar performance.
3. Us models have us warranties which may be worthwhile to you.
4.That being said, I'm using a tmobile phone now as root (beta) has arrived. Long-term, a snapdragon 820 will have better support as the chipset is universally used on the 2016 flagship phones. In July 2016, that is not yet the case.
5. The superman rom works on the 930f. I have used it without issue (as I have done with other roms)
Go for the Exynos variant and **** the carrriers. I have one and is bootloader unlockable, so I have the peace-of-mind of knowing I can install a custom rom when Samsung ends all support in two years. I also have Cricket as my carrier and it works great, I get LTE, but the status bar will only show 4g since I have the united arab emirate firmware, and I assume they don't use LTE over there. You can also intall the samsung pay apk on the UAE variant, as long as it is the 2.0.36 version or older. The latest updated version has disable samsung pay for this variant.

First, see if you can download and install the NextRadio app from Google Play. If the NextRadio app page says that it's not supported on your device, you can get the apk here: http://apk-dl.com/nextradio-free-fm-radio
Once installed, just launch the app. NextRadio will pop up with a pretty screen telling you that your device doesn't support it if that's the case. But if it does work, you'll be prompted to plug in your headphones to serve as the FM antenna. It will then apprise you of all local FM broadcast stations in your area and, if you like, allow you to use manual tuning mode.
I'll be very interested to learn what happens.
Thanks

Hmm . That may mean that the hardware is there but that it's disabled in the firmware - because we know it works on the US carrier-sold snapdragon versions. There's a lot of speculation about whether it's disabled at the hardware level or the firmware level on the exynos models... no one really seems to know for sure. In any case, thanks for testing it!
Edit:By the way, who is your cellular service through? A rep at Samsung's telephone tech support told me that the service provider must enable a proximity port for NextRadio to access the chip's receiver circuit. I know that NextRadio just works out of the box with locked S7's from Sprint, T-Mobile, or AT&T.

Okay, thanks. I also have T-Mobile and I too get the same screen when I try to use NextRadio on my SM-G930F. And T-Mobile claims to support NextRadio and the FM chip function on phones purchased through them. So I dunno.
So, the only difference between the European and US version is the chipset, samsung pay and the radio?
How would it work with the warranty? I am currently living in Europe, so I would buy a European version, what if I move to the States in the next year and something happens to the phone - isn't Samsung's warranty worldwide?

I begin to think that there should be some misunderstanding between Motorola 's US team and the Chinese people of Lenovo...
Someone @motorola would have said something like "with MotoZ we want to do something special for Indians!".
They obviously intended their "American natives", BUT on Lenovo they made the same error of Columbus and did it for Indians of India!
Why am I saying this?
Are facts to tell...
- Moto Z in Europe: available only in few countries, very few to none advertising for it, only single SIM version, only 32 GB version, only some LTE bands supported, quite more expensive than in US, expecially on Amazon...
- Moto Z in India: a big event on Amazon.in for the oncoming launch in all India, only DUAL SIM version, only 64 GB version, the largest list of LTE bands supported (with Europeans only too, like B20...), a price which is a fraction of European one and lower than US one (of 32 GB single SIM...) too...
Some years ago Madonna singer during a concert used a T-shirt with "Italians do it better" written on it, making it famous... @lenovo do they use to wear "Indians do it better" T-shirts?
Or do they think in Europe we are all strange & exotic people wearing rings on our noses? :cyclops:
Not only Indians... here in Mexico the free versions are the same, 64GB, double sim ready, unlock bootloader ready, carrier free and almost all include the moto mods bundle: bumper, incipio battery, moto case and JBL speakers. I bought mine in Amazon, but also if you buy yours on Motorola site, Best Buy or even WalMart you get the same. BTW the model is the 03 version.

Have you personally tested with two SIM installed? Since on Motorola.mx it's not reported to be dual SIM (even if the tray probably is...).
About LTE bands, I've opened a specific topic... anyway they should be reported in bottom side of box, near IMEI and model number...

Anyone received Nougat here?
I ordered a Samsung Galaxy S10e from Amazon that was specifically supposed to be an unlocked T-Mobile refurbished phone, so I figured I would be getting a G970U. When the phone showed up yesterday, it turns out it's a G970F. It has a CSC code of TPA, so it appears it's Panamanian. But, I put my T-Mobile SIM in it and everything seems to be working just fine. I called the T-Mobile software support people, who made a few tweaks so that it's supposed to work on their network now. But, when I looked up the differences in the frequencies/bands that the two different phones support, there ARE some differences. I'm not really sure if this will make any difference in how well it works or not. That's my main concern here. Otherwise, the phone looks like new and the battery is in great shape.
The other differences are that it's a dual-sim phone, which is a nice feature. And then there's the fact that it's got the Exynos 9820 processor instead of the Snapdragon. Not really sure that's an issue or not. I'm not looking to root the phone, so I don't think it makes a lot of difference to me. My main issue is to be able to make/receive calls and use data in various locations, some places where T-Mobile's network isn't as strong or built-out.
I've got 90 days to return the phone, so I'll have plenty of time to check things out, but I'd really like to know if the frequency differences are going to be a problem. The T-Mobile person I was on the phone with didn't think it would, but then again, I don't think she knew much about the international versions of these phones. So I'd like to hear from people who know a lot more about these Samsung phones and the differences between the two versions.
My model # is SM-G970FZKJTPA, my baseband version is G970XX56CTE6, my firmware's CSC code shows as DBT and my active CSC code shows as TPA. Android Version 10 / SDK29
Any advice would be appreciated and TIA.

I have the SM-G970U and I am wishing I had the G970F. As far as I can see there is not much difference in the frequency bands. From the G970U for T-Mobile to the G970F there's a few bands difference. Also I believe you have the G970U/DS for Dual Sim, which is from Asia (India, Singapore). You can see the differences here.....ok nm, I can't post links. So google, "techwalls.c0m" and "G970 differences". You should see the site.
Hope that helps, best of luck!

Thanks for the reply. I had seen that site and the differences in bands and that's what made me ask if anyone has seen any difference in the two versions of the phone. Yes, I have either the dual sim version or the hybrid SIM, I'm not really sure since I can't find my exact model on that site. I can see that the phone was made in China and its CSC country is Panama. I can put either 2 SIM cards in the phone or one SIM card and an SD storage card (which is how I have it set up). The full model # is SM-G970FZKJTPA and that model isn't listed on the website that shows what frequencies each model can access. I was on the phone with a T-Mobile tech person when I was setting it up and she had me make a few changes to be sure I was using T-Mobile's LTE network, but I don't think she really knew much about what frequency bands I might need and not have. That's why I asked here.
I'm planning on going to my parents' next week, where T-Mobile's service isn't that great, so I'm hoping that will be a really good test for this phone. Otherwise, it seems to be working just fine for me, although it's hard for me to know if I'm getting full access in the city, where all the bands my phone has are probably supported. Maybe I should look for an app that can tell me what frequencies are available and whether my phone is able to connect, hmmmm. Anybody know of a good app like that?
Thanks so much for the reply.
I downloaded an app called Samsung Band Selection so that I could see what bands my phone actually has. When I compare the bands/frequencies that the app shows I have to what bands T-Mobile has, it looks like I'm missing two bands. One is the 4G FDD LTE band of B71(600MHz). The other band I'm missing is the 4G TDD LTE band of B46(5200). Does anyone know what issues there might be if this phone doesn't have the capability to connect to those two bands?
If you're planning on using the S10e phone on T-Mobile in the USA, get a G970U.
Just look at users in the US Samsung Community forum complaining about issues about their international G970F that G970U owners do not have, that have no immediate resolution.
The T-Mobile S10e models have a model number that end with TMB. I use a pre-owned, T-Mobile carrier-unlocked, Samsung Galaxy S10e.
Just my $0.02

I tried to find threads from users of the G970F to see if they were having problems, but didn't find much here. Maybe I don't know where to look, but so far, I'm having zero problems with this phone. Even in an area where T-Mobile doesn't have a great presence, my reception and data access was fine. I've been on the phone with T-Mobile representatives, who had me do a little tweaking when I first got the phone and I've talked to them about the 2 bandwidths that I'm missing on this phone and I don't think that's going to be a problem.
I'll check again to see if I can search out the problems you're talking about, but this phone seems to be working just fine. If I'm missing something, please point me to the right posts, though.
Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I went there after re-reading your last message. When I search for G970F, I find 4 threads which I don't think are going to be problems for me. Unfortunately, when I try to search for "international S10e", the search brings up hundreds of threads that have "internal" in it, rather than "international", so I'm unable to search for just my model. Apparently, their search algorithm isn't the greatest. It sounded like the biggest problem might be the fingerprint sensor not working so well after a recent upgrade. I don't plan on using the fingerprint sensor and it was just one person with the problem, so I don't know how widespread that might be.
Thanks again for the reply.
The G970U has an FM Radio that is enabled. I have verified that it works:

I saw that difference online, as well. I'm not really sure where to look in order to verify, but from what little I've looked, I don't think it has the FM radio receiver. Not that I have a need for it, but someone else might, so always good to point that out, thanks. I would use the dual-sim capability more than an FM radio, so I'm willing to live without built-in radio. If you tell me where to look, I will verify for sure for others who might be interested.
My SM-G970UZBATMB (T-Mobile s10e) is on Build QP1A.190711.020.G970USQS4DTF6 now (7/2020).

Mine updated a week or so ago to Build QP1A.190711.020.G970FXXS7CTG1. My Baseband version is now G970FXXS7CTF3.
I found there are 3 different versions of Xperia 5ii.
XQ-AS52, XQ-AS62, XQ-AS72
Anyone know the differences on these three models?
It seems based on product codes and xpericheck:
XQ-AS52 - EUROPE - 128Gb, 5G
XQ-AS62 - US - 128Gb, no 5G
XQ-AS72 - China/HK/Tw, 256Gb, 5G
My device is from europe and I'm on 1 aug security update.
So, no difference in the hardware and radios from what I read. I got the XQ-AS72 and I'm on Verizon. Initially, the IMEI said that it wouldn't work on Verizon. But if you get with the right tech rep on chat, tell them that you need to set up a CDMA-less phone. I did it today and got the phone working on Verizon! Only using LTE, but Verizon is killing off 3g (read: CDMA) at the end of the year, so can't imagine that will be an issue. Off to the races with a cheaper phone with double the internal storage than what I could order in the US....
Update: Phone works on Verizon. Did an online chat with tech support, and told them that I needed to be able to activate a phone as CDMA-less. I got hooked with a dude who had been with them for 7 years or so and he's all "I know exactly what you want to do and how to do it." Half hour later, I'm on the network and swinging large!

Install the official tool from Sony, Xperia Companion, and run a repair. I had the same issue. Now I am on 58.0.A.22.21 with October patches. You can easily use this tool, it is the official tool from Sony, so you are not illegaly flashing or unlocking it.
Does the XQ-AS72 variant work in Canada and the USA? Why cant I find detailed specs on the sony site for bands and such. Its such a pain.

Are you getting VoLTE on T-mobile out of the box, or did you need to flash the US firmware? Thinking of ordering the same version (for double the storage and the blue color) but from what I've seen so far seems like I need to flash the US firmware in order to get VoLTE to work on T-mobile.
Hi all! Guys, I am trying to bring all known info into one list, so IF YOU KNOW YOUR DEVICE\FIRMWARE REGION, could you please share model, memory capacity, 1sim or 2 sim, region and color followed by screenshot of Software Info page?
Just enter Service menu by dialing *#*#7378423#*#* , then go to Software Info
It will help me a lot.
Here is an example of what and how I would see it.

Huh! That's the main point and problem. For now I\We don't know any working way to check xperia 5 II CID. If we could it would solve a problem with device region identification. But for now we can only rely on what Software info says and to try to understand what SOFTWARE VERIONS like GLOBALEEA-A2, GLOBAL-C2, etc. and PRODUCT CODES means. At leats that's what I am trying to do.
@Cptnfruitloops - You have HK or TW. I can't tell which one directly - or at least from shared info.
@LOCKDOC_UA - Did you try to explore firmwares? I guess it can help you with your effort.
Very interesting for identification is also "LTA version" (Yeh I dumped it from FWs). At least for XQ-AS72, where it can be used for distinguish CN from SEA and from TW/HK (they share same elabel). It won't help to distinguish XQ-AS52 versions though, since they share same elabel.
Anyway, those labels are quite interesting in few ways.
For example TW/HK version contains information about charging voltages/currents:
And for example Japanese versions (SO-52A) contains FM radio (If you check its FCC ID: PY7-08372L https://fccid.io/PY7-08372L - compare with European version FCC ID: PY7-310Z https://fccid.io/PY7-30637Z which doesn't have it.

Who can explain why US version has no 5G support? This model has different hardware? I thought 5G modem is a part of Snapdragon 865.
Does anyone know what ROW_Commercial means?
@LOCKDOC_UA
Its simple - they decided to turn it off since it (modem HW) doesn't support 5G bands used in US (It support only bands 1, 3, 8, 28, 77, 78 - none of those will work in US).
Because of that you can't market it as 5G phone in US - Support would be overwhelmed with questions from customers - I bought this 5G phone and it doesn't work with my operator? Which operator should I use to get 5G? We are sorry - none will work. So to avoid it they simply decided to turn it off.
Also forget 5G roaming - It doesn't work anywhere yet - so even keeping surprise overseas 5G doesn't make any sense.
@Cptnfruitloops - I guess its current used modem configuration, but may be I am wrong.
I've always purchased unlocked Samsung phones, but lately Samsung has been super slow updating them compared to the carrier phones. About to pull the trigger on an S22 Ultra and leaning more towards the T-mobile branded one then the Unlocked one. I can always delete most of the bloatware.
I have a N975U and a N975U1. Both are near identical. However if you replace say the C port pcb you need to get the correct one for that variant. Both have bloatware.
If you can get a better deal with TMOBILE that might be best. I don't know what they throw on their phones.
As for updates especially firmware... they tend to break phones especially branded ones.
Rule #1- if an OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission let it be!
My oldest N10+ is still running on Pie, the current load will be 2 yo in June, still fast and stable. Security is simply not an issue with it... unless you do something stupid. There's no saving dumb bunnies... so forget the scare hype.
Know the vulnerabilities, mitigate as best as possible but most of all always be careful what you install and download. Zero tolerance for any malware, if it can't be eradicated in an hour or two, factory reset.
I got the unlocked Note 20 Ultra directly from Samsung, because at the time, AT&T didn't offer the 512gb. Today, I purchased the Galaxy 22 Ultra directly from Samsung because AT&T is not currently selling the 1TB version. Also, I find that the Samsung bloatware is considerably less than that of the phone carrier.

I just use a package disabler on both. Operationally there's no discernible difference although I don't use any of the AT&T features.
Point is both variants are a mess without the package disabler... I was hoping the unlocked version make me say "wow", not meh
Be real swell of Samsung if they had a built in package disabler...
The S22U I ordered is the 1st Samsung phone I've ordered that was not an AT&T model. I need wifi calling and the word is it works on unlocked Samsung phones now. Samsung loads up all their phones with stuff but the AT&T models get the super deluxe bloatware package. It would be great if they gave you more control of what you have on your phone but they have made some pretty nice changes lately with the OS and updates.
I ordered S22U 512gb T-mobile version from Samsung hoping to take advantage of the carrier aggregation and other network improvement. I have Note 20 Ultra 5g unlocked on T-mobile and it does not perform better compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Mostly I have to have the Note on 4g LTE to get great performace. So hopefully I made the right choice.
I thought that the unlocked versions got the security and OS updates first. That alone would be enough for me to get one. However, Samsung doesn't accept pixel 6 pros for trade in yet.. Verizon gave me $1000, what I paid, so, kind of had to do that.. Hopefully I'm wrong!
I do know that you CAN get Verizon at least to unlock your phone. I'll have to see about that for sure.

That's pretty funny as Samsung will take iPhones.
AT&T does as well... read the contract and conditions. I've unlocked 2 so far. Buying off the phone after 2 years nets you big savings at least with AT&T.
The updates aren't generally needed for Android 9 and higher useless you do stupid things.
That said there's no saving dumb bunnies... most malware is user loaded/downloaded.
I really don't do an incredible lot to secure Android 9 and it holds up very well.
Try this settings change for global ad blocking and it picks off some of the worst sites as well.
I also use some of the Samsung browser ad blocker plugins; that browser is somewhat vulnerable especially without them.

I had an ATT locked phone, and while it worked fine with some other carriers (Tmobile) it wouldn't work correct with Mint Mobile. I finally had to put the unlocked firmware on it which fixed the problem. This is with a Fold 3 and an S10.

Variant color kept me from going the VZW route, but may reconsider. The $1000 is bill credits spread out over 3 yrs with a penalty of losing the credits if you just want to pay it off right?

Honestly TMo in the past has had so little bloatware you could hardly tell the difference between the TMo branded Galaxy and the unlocked. Just the annoying magenta splash screen and boot sound.

That's never been the case. The Unlocked is always the last to get the updates. This gets discussed every year, with every Samsung device, and every major update.
I usually get the carrier version then flash the corresponding U1 unlocked firmware. Best of both worlds, though be sure to carrier unlock the phone first if needed.

What happens if your on a U1 unlocked version running U1 firmware and you flash the U carrier version using Home CFC so not to wipe. Will you still get all the carrier version mess and bloatware ?
The reason I ask is there's a new update out for my Fold 3 but only the U carrier version is out not the U1
