I found there are 3 different versions of Xperia 5ii.
XQ-AS52, XQ-AS62, XQ-AS72
Anyone know the differences on these three models?
It seems based on product codes and xpericheck:
XQ-AS52 - EUROPE - 128Gb, 5G
XQ-AS62 - US - 128Gb, no 5G
XQ-AS72 - China/HK/Tw, 256Gb, 5G
My device is from europe and I'm on 1 aug security update.
So, no difference in the hardware and radios from what I read. I got the XQ-AS72 and I'm on Verizon. Initially, the IMEI said that it wouldn't work on Verizon. But if you get with the right tech rep on chat, tell them that you need to set up a CDMA-less phone. I did it today and got the phone working on Verizon! Only using LTE, but Verizon is killing off 3g (read: CDMA) at the end of the year, so can't imagine that will be an issue. Off to the races with a cheaper phone with double the internal storage than what I could order in the US....
Update: Phone works on Verizon. Did an online chat with tech support, and told them that I needed to be able to activate a phone as CDMA-less. I got hooked with a dude who had been with them for 7 years or so and he's all "I know exactly what you want to do and how to do it." Half hour later, I'm on the network and swinging large!

Install the official tool from Sony, Xperia Companion, and run a repair. I had the same issue. Now I am on 58.0.A.22.21 with October patches. You can easily use this tool, it is the official tool from Sony, so you are not illegaly flashing or unlocking it.
Does the XQ-AS72 variant work in Canada and the USA? Why cant I find detailed specs on the sony site for bands and such. Its such a pain.

Are you getting VoLTE on T-mobile out of the box, or did you need to flash the US firmware? Thinking of ordering the same version (for double the storage and the blue color) but from what I've seen so far seems like I need to flash the US firmware in order to get VoLTE to work on T-mobile.
Hi all! Guys, I am trying to bring all known info into one list, so IF YOU KNOW YOUR DEVICE\FIRMWARE REGION, could you please share model, memory capacity, 1sim or 2 sim, region and color followed by screenshot of Software Info page?
Just enter Service menu by dialing *#*#7378423#*#* , then go to Software Info
It will help me a lot.
Here is an example of what and how I would see it.

Huh! That's the main point and problem. For now I\We don't know any working way to check xperia 5 II CID. If we could it would solve a problem with device region identification. But for now we can only rely on what Software info says and to try to understand what SOFTWARE VERIONS like GLOBALEEA-A2, GLOBAL-C2, etc. and PRODUCT CODES means. At leats that's what I am trying to do.
@Cptnfruitloops - You have HK or TW. I can't tell which one directly - or at least from shared info.
@LOCKDOC_UA - Did you try to explore firmwares? I guess it can help you with your effort.
Very interesting for identification is also "LTA version" (Yeh I dumped it from FWs). At least for XQ-AS72, where it can be used for distinguish CN from SEA and from TW/HK (they share same elabel). It won't help to distinguish XQ-AS52 versions though, since they share same elabel.
Anyway, those labels are quite interesting in few ways.
For example TW/HK version contains information about charging voltages/currents:
And for example Japanese versions (SO-52A) contains FM radio (If you check its FCC ID: PY7-08372L https://fccid.io/PY7-08372L - compare with European version FCC ID: PY7-310Z https://fccid.io/PY7-30637Z which doesn't have it.

Who can explain why US version has no 5G support? This model has different hardware? I thought 5G modem is a part of Snapdragon 865.
Does anyone know what ROW_Commercial means?
@LOCKDOC_UA
Its simple - they decided to turn it off since it (modem HW) doesn't support 5G bands used in US (It support only bands 1, 3, 8, 28, 77, 78 - none of those will work in US).
Because of that you can't market it as 5G phone in US - Support would be overwhelmed with questions from customers - I bought this 5G phone and it doesn't work with my operator? Which operator should I use to get 5G? We are sorry - none will work. So to avoid it they simply decided to turn it off.
Also forget 5G roaming - It doesn't work anywhere yet - so even keeping surprise overseas 5G doesn't make any sense.
@Cptnfruitloops - I guess its current used modem configuration, but may be I am wrong.

So, I'm in the US. I use Straight Talk which uses ATT bands. I do want to get an S7 that will work with my provider. I understand that it would have to either be the ATT model, or the International version.
Where exactly can you buy the international version? Also, will it include the free Gear VR? Also, are there any downsides to getting the international version? Is it still possible to get support in the US for the international model?

You could probably buy it off from Amazon/Ebay or some other site. I'm not sure how often International versions get updated so that could be a downside. As of right now the only way to get the bonus Gear VR is preordering with a carrier, meaning no, you will miss out on the bonus if you want an international unlocked version.

Because one must choose the lesser of two evils... Exynos or... bloated with apps, and carrier boot logo, and having to find someone that can buy the phone and have their carrier unlock it. I called T-Mobile and they told me the phone must be with them (attached to someone's plan) for 7 days for them to unlock it.
I don't have any friends with T-Mobile and I live in South America, so I haven't got many options...
Hi. I just want to be clear... none of the Snapdragon variants have LTE band 28? No even t-mobile? I live in Panama and we have LTE on that band...

I don't, I would prefer SD820 but I was listing it for some guy who was asking about it.
Samsung stores in canada sell "unlocked" phones, it gets locked to the first sim card but an unlock code is provided.

clove or handtec will ship to US and the prices are pretty decent. Cheaper than buying full price here in US. Make sure you read everything clove has to say about it though. There is a warning about Samsung locking their phones.
Simply use Amazon.de. They have a fully translated webpage (here is the link) and also the awesome customer service known from Amazon in English.
I begin to think that there should be some misunderstanding between Motorola 's US team and the Chinese people of Lenovo...
Someone @motorola would have said something like "with MotoZ we want to do something special for Indians!".
They obviously intended their "American natives", BUT on Lenovo they made the same error of Columbus and did it for Indians of India!
Why am I saying this?
Are facts to tell...
- Moto Z in Europe: available only in few countries, very few to none advertising for it, only single SIM version, only 32 GB version, only some LTE bands supported, quite more expensive than in US, expecially on Amazon...
- Moto Z in India: a big event on Amazon.in for the oncoming launch in all India, only DUAL SIM version, only 64 GB version, the largest list of LTE bands supported (with Europeans only too, like B20...), a price which is a fraction of European one and lower than US one (of 32 GB single SIM...) too...
Some years ago Madonna singer during a concert used a T-shirt with "Italians do it better" written on it, making it famous... @lenovo do they use to wear "Indians do it better" T-shirts?
Or do they think in Europe we are all strange & exotic people wearing rings on our noses? :cyclops:
Not only Indians... here in Mexico the free versions are the same, 64GB, double sim ready, unlock bootloader ready, carrier free and almost all include the moto mods bundle: bumper, incipio battery, moto case and JBL speakers. I bought mine in Amazon, but also if you buy yours on Motorola site, Best Buy or even WalMart you get the same. BTW the model is the 03 version.

Anyone received Nougat here?
Hello, I've recently purchased an International G7 Power (XT1955-2) and I absolutely love it. For me it is the perfect phone, BUT:
I live in the USA, and the international model does NOT support a lot of the LTE bands found here. It works fine for me with an AT&T MVNO with proper APN settings manually entered, but not having common bands (12 and 17 specifically) is a little worrying should I ever travel out of my area. Being downgraded to 3G really isnt a dealbreaker for me, the biggest problem I forsee is that the International version also does NOT support 5Ghz Wifi. What? Again, not really a huge deal, and the other positives i find with the phone outweigh those two gripes.
Why not just get a US version you ask? Well, unfortunately the US version (XT1955-5 as far as i can tell) only has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. (vs 4/64 for the international) and does not have NFC. The storage *is* expandable via SD card of course, but I feel like I would really miss that extra gig of ram. So heres what I was thinking:
Would it be possible to extract the radio firmware from a US model and flash it on the international model? I would be willing to purchase a US model specifically to grab the firmware (and then promptly return it, thanks Amazon!) Can anyone give me some insight on if this would be possible? They both run the same SoC, so shouldnt the radios also be identical, just software limited? If no one can give a solid answer, I might just take the plunge and learn how to do it and try it, and I'll most definitely post the results (or the file and process for others) here. Because as far as I'm concerned, the G7 Power is the perfect budget phone, its just such a shame that Motorola decided to cripple every single version of it with a different nonsensical limitation.
Thanks!
Update: I managed to track down a few different stock firmware images for the US model (even here there are variants, depending on which carrier they were sold through). First I flashed the modem firmware, confirmed that that had been applied successfully, and it booted ok, and LTE/Wifi worked normally, but I still didnt get the LTE bands or 5ghz wifi I was looking for. Next I just went whole hog and flashed the entire -5 US firmware and can confirm, the XT1955-5 firmware WILL fully flash onto the XT1955-2 without any problem, and will NOT nerf your RAM/Storage down to US model levels. LTE/Wifi work just as they did with stock -2 firmware, unfortunately this didnt help the lack of US LTE bands or 5GHz wifi... so
Looking at the "Baseband" in fastboot and within Android, the modem firmware had indeed successfully changed to the version that is in the US firmware, yet following the correct US version numbers it still had the "LATAM....." (meaning Latin America I'm guessing, this model was meant for Mexico), so theres still something else that needs to be changed, I'm gonna do some research on other phones that may have had the same problems and software locks to get an idea on how this might be changed. As always, any insight is welcome.
If anyone wants/needs the US variant firmwares to play with, let me know and I'll get them to you, since they were nearly impossible to find. For now I've flashed back to the stock -2 firmware (I have that too if you need, although this was really easy to find online).
I'm in the same situation as you, except i'm in Canada. According to this website below, there are 2 models of the xt1955-2. One being the 32 gig version for Latin America/Argentina and the other being the 64 gig model for Mexico. I don't know if the information is accurate but the 64 gig model of the xt1955-2 has LTE band 12 and 17. Lots of conflicting information. I don't what the correct specs are for this international version of the g7 power.
I can provide a link but being this is my first post, it won't allow me.

Got it in the PM, thanks. According to that article, my Mexican -2 should also not have dual SIM slots which it certainly does. I wish there was a way to tell on the device itself which bands it can pick up since there's, as you said, so much conflicting information regarding this phone. I can tell you with absolute certainty that it doesn't support 5ghz wifi though, also it took a call to my carrier to get them to enable the wifi hotspot (other phones I've tested got this provisioned automatically) and wifi calling doesn't even appear as an option either.

Dammit, yes those are what I was after, and all the searching in the world didn't give me that site. Well, that makes it easier, Thanks!
Update: I may have gotten all LTE bands working on the XT1955-2. Guide here to try it for yourself:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g7-power/how-to/guide-moto-g7-power-supra-enable-lte-t3925246
Another update: running "./fastboot oem hw" gives us these values. We see that RAM and storage capacity are based on "hwprobe", meaning (im guessing) that it will actually look at what's physically installed in order to determine what it should use for a value, whereas radio and NFC are based on hwid, meaning (again, im guessing) that it compares the actual hardware ID to a list (somewhere) to determine what vaules it should use for radio and NFC, suggesting that the actual hardware we're after may be present, but just software disabled due to the hwid.

And of course, attempting to change that doesn't work since that option is locked/protected and unprotecting it is "not allowed command"
At this stage, I'm assuming we'll need to wait for a custom kernel? I've tried unpacking boot.img, but theres nothing in ramdisk\oem or ramdisk\vendor to try and play around with.

Should be able to. I have flashed the US retail firmware to the international version. I did have an issue with the US firmware on the international phone using the international modem. Worked fine except for people not hearing me on calls. So there could be an issue with mixing modems and firmwares. I flashed the US modem and it was fixed.
I also flashed the US Retail firmware onto a Metro phone in an attempt to unlock it, didn't unlockit. Phone worked fine though.

If you have the Amazon version that is subsidized by Amazon with ads, then no. Moto will not give you the bootloader unlock code for that because that would mean Amazon couldn't show you a bunch of annoying advertisements.
I have already unlocked bootloader and flashed metro firmware
Guys, this may be worth checking out. This is a confirmed method that was used to enable LTE Band 12 on the Moto E LTE xt1527 (Surnia), by using Qualcomm's QPST/QXDM radio diag utilities after booting the device into "BP Tools" mode from the AP Fastboot menu. The method delves off into some data entry using binary code. Theoretically, this method should work on any Motorola device with a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. The OP notes that having stock firmware installed does seem to be a requirement for tweaking LTE band enablement, but that once the desired bands are enabled, a custom ROM can ibe installed and the bands will remain intact & supported.
So anyway, here is a link to the tutorial thread, which contains links for the DIAG port drivers you will need, as well as links for the QPST & QXDM utilities. https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/general/guide-enable-lte-bands-surnia-t3351673
In the case of the International variant of the Moto G7 Power (xt1955-2), it is feasible that any lack of LTE band support has littler to do with the baseband radio firmware itself than it does omissions/restrictions implemented by the OEM. This has been the status quo for Motrola on LTE band support for many years.
Motorola's official specs list the xt1755-2 as having LTE Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 19, 20, 28, 38, 40 & 41. On the other hand, the US variants are docemented to have these LTE bands: LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 13(700), 14(700), 17(700), 20(800), 25(1900), 26(850), 29(700), 30(2300), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500), 41(2500), 66(1700/2100), 71(600). Considering that both the International & US Moto G7 Power variants are powered by the same SoC platform (albeit some marked performance differences), it is more likely than not that certain LTE Bands on the International variants were simply disabled via factory protocol.
Flash Verizon Firmware
When u flashed metro rom did metro boot logo and software appear? Since Verizon doesn’t lock their Lte devices I wonder if flashing full firmware might achieve unlock? I know same concept as us retail but let’s not give up hope! Any new developments on how to proceed with unlock or cheap resources?
Has anyone gotten band 12 and 71 working on the XT1955-2?

Unlock can't be achieved by simply a firmware flash ,is not that simple. If it were that simple don't you think everyone will have an unlocked device by now and unlocking issue won't even exist. ?
i am having a hard time finding the 1955-2 latest firmware for may-june 2019 . Can you give me a link to that if possible can you give me the easiest steps on how you flashed the 1955-5 firmware on the 1955-2.the bootloader isunlocked on my moto g7 power 1955-2 model. .
Anyone try mixing US radios around to see if they get better service? I've already enabled all the bands in the above thread but where I live there are service dropouts depending where you are in town. I've rooted and unlocked my bootloader already. I have metro and wondering if I could get ahold of a T-Mobile radio if it would work better.

krayzueuyian23, I wanted to confirm.... you have successfully changed your 1955-2 international phone to permit bands 12 and 17? If so, which posts/steps did you follow? Are you using the phone in the US?
I have the international 1955-2 and want to activate 12 and 17 so that I can use the phone with AT&T / Cricket wireless.
Thank you!

I have the 1955-5. If you go to the forum main menu you will see a sticky post about enabling all bands possibly. I followed that threads instructions to do it. One hiccup though is that the qpst link doesn't work and you need to find a suitable version near that to download. I completed all bands on my phone, even though it doesn't help my signal. I am wondering if any of the different radios would help me.
Hello
I bought Find X2 Pro 5G version from OPPO Malaysia, and ship it to Saudi Arabia. I tried to use 5G network but the device still on 4G.
I tried to check the differences between my device box and comparing it to other boxes from youtube videos, Guess what ? It's different !!
There is no 5G Logo, also there is no 5G Bands in the back of the box.

I contacted with OPPO Global and OPPO Malaysia asking them about my device .. is it support 5G or not ?
Responses
1- OPPO Global : "5G network can only be enjoyed if available in your region. Kindly contact your Mobile Operator (MO) to confirm if 5G is available."
2- OPPO Malaysia: "Hi, Regarding to your question, due to Malaysia is not support 5G yet, the system is not update now, they will be update after Malaysia is available for 5G"
3- OPPO Global : "Regarding your concern, please be advised that it is our OPPO Malaysia team who could assist you with your concern and since you already contacted them and was advised that you need to wait for the 5G to be activated in Malaysia first, please stay tuned on their website for further updates.
Kindly be reminded that the phone was designed to be used in Malaysia thus it supports the current networks that are available there."
So I think I have to wait for couple of months until 5G activation in Malaysia . :cyclops:
I'm in the exact same boat bro. I ordered mine from Thailand though, same box and everything. We just have to wait for the updates, all the Pros have 5G that's a fact, I think, lol. They told me wait until June 10th for the update in Thailand. If you find anything else out please update and I will too.

At least they gave you a specific date
OPPO Malaysia said I have to wait for 3rd quarter of 2020 .
So I'll have to wait 2-4 months :crying:
I don't see why it wasn't 5G out the box, doesn't make sense...

Also it happened for S20 Ultra hong kong version owners , they received an update to active the 5G :silly
I don't know why they are making this crazy things.
Hello, I have a few questions about the Odin updates, how does it work? Can I flash the SM-S908U/SM-S908U1 firmware on my device? I have the canadian version of the s22 ultra, is there any risk? Do I need to factory reset? And will I get new canada/US Ota updates? Or will I need to manually flash every time after that?
Wait for the OTA update. It will arrive any day now.
Have faith. Good thing Fido announces OTA updates on your region early while other regions are no idea when they will get it.

Well, you're not alone. Next year, I'll be doing an exchange for the next predecessor and far away from anything HK version of S23 Ultra. Of course, that will happen after I find the next iteration appealing else, I might try iPhone or most likely Pixel 8 pro.

As long as it's not HK version, you won't regret it! It feels like we're left at the bottom of the well whilst others have been given strong thighs to jump off. I find it surprising being this is one of Asia versions. One would think it'll at least have a slight edge over other versions of this model.
Exactly, so unfair, I keep looking on check firm app and there's a 2 new test builds in the last week. Are they looking to give us a more stable release when we get one ui 5 or something
Im also on 9080 cause germany has the ****ty exynos. Will get the s23u...
Just a heads up to the Canadian users. Rogers/Fido have pushed back the One UI 5 upgrade from Nov 05 to Nov 21.
I suspect the rest of the major carriers will have a similar release date.
This thread is specific to the SM-908W........
Seriously, there's no way to use the Odin for the SM-S908U/UI? That's just stupid
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-series-s20-note20-s21-had-no-issues.4408193/
It'll be end of the month for the update
I have both Fold 4/S22 Ultra W Series 1TB. I used this thread to enable all 5G bands and flashed the XAA U1 software on both phones.
I have Android 13 on s22 Ultra with TMB U1 software and 5G on Telus.
Note: you will have to factory reset before you ODIN the BL/AP/CP/CSC (not the home one) so BACK UP FIRST.
The reward for my W series phones:
s22 Ultra 5G on Telus using XAA U1 software (I purposely flashed Android 12 from 3 months ago to test updates; I let it update and still had 5G on Telus; I then flashed the TMB U1 to get Android 13 and still have 5G on Telus).
Fold 4 still running XAA U1 Software with 5G on Telus.
How to Enable All Bands Through Service Menu on US/CA S22 series (including Sub-6 and mmWave)
What is this? This is a guide on how to enable all LTE and 5G bands on the US or Canadian S22 series phones by going through the service menu. This guide is mostly based on this S20U guide by mellojosh, but has been adapted for the S22U phone...

As per the Rogers/Fido update schedule my phone received the UI 5 upgrade this morning.
I would assume most carriers will follow suit.
