Question S22 ultra One UI 5.0 on SM-S908W - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Hello, I have a few questions about the Odin updates, how does it work? Can I flash the SM-S908U/SM-S908U1 firmware on my device? I have the canadian version of the s22 ultra, is there any risk? Do I need to factory reset? And will I get new canada/US Ota updates? Or will I need to manually flash every time after that?

Wait for the OTA update. It will arrive any day now.

Have faith. Good thing Fido announces OTA updates on your region early while other regions are no idea when they will get it.

Well, you're not alone. Next year, I'll be doing an exchange for the next predecessor and far away from anything HK version of S23 Ultra. Of course, that will happen after I find the next iteration appealing else, I might try iPhone or most likely Pixel 8 pro.

As long as it's not HK version, you won't regret it! It feels like we're left at the bottom of the well whilst others have been given strong thighs to jump off. I find it surprising being this is one of Asia versions. One would think it'll at least have a slight edge over other versions of this model.

Exactly, so unfair, I keep looking on check firm app and there's a 2 new test builds in the last week. Are they looking to give us a more stable release when we get one ui 5 or something

Im also on 9080 cause germany has the ****ty exynos. Will get the s23u...

Just a heads up to the Canadian users. Rogers/Fido have pushed back the One UI 5 upgrade from Nov 05 to Nov 21.
I suspect the rest of the major carriers will have a similar release date.
This thread is specific to the SM-908W........

Seriously, there's no way to use the Odin for the SM-S908U/UI? That's just stupid

https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-series-s20-note20-s21-had-no-issues.4408193/

It'll be end of the month for the update

I have both Fold 4/S22 Ultra W Series 1TB. I used this thread to enable all 5G bands and flashed the XAA U1 software on both phones.
I have Android 13 on s22 Ultra with TMB U1 software and 5G on Telus.
Note: you will have to factory reset before you ODIN the BL/AP/CP/CSC (not the home one) so BACK UP FIRST.
The reward for my W series phones:
s22 Ultra 5G on Telus using XAA U1 software (I purposely flashed Android 12 from 3 months ago to test updates; I let it update and still had 5G on Telus; I then flashed the TMB U1 to get Android 13 and still have 5G on Telus).
Fold 4 still running XAA U1 Software with 5G on Telus.

What is this? This is a guide on how to enable all LTE and 5G bands on the US or Canadian S22 series phones by going through the service menu. This guide is mostly based on this S20U guide by mellojosh, but has been adapted for the S22U phone...

As per the Rogers/Fido update schedule my phone received the UI 5 upgrade this morning.
I would assume most carriers will follow suit.

OPPO Find X2 Pro NOT support 5G

Hello
I bought Find X2 Pro 5G version from OPPO Malaysia, and ship it to Saudi Arabia. I tried to use 5G network but the device still on 4G.
I tried to check the differences between my device box and comparing it to other boxes from youtube videos, Guess what ? It's different !!
There is no 5G Logo, also there is no 5G Bands in the back of the box.

I contacted with OPPO Global and OPPO Malaysia asking them about my device .. is it support 5G or not ?
Responses
1- OPPO Global : "5G network can only be enjoyed if available in your region. Kindly contact your Mobile Operator (MO) to confirm if 5G is available."
2- OPPO Malaysia: "Hi, Regarding to your question, due to Malaysia is not support 5G yet, the system is not update now, they will be update after Malaysia is available for 5G"
3- OPPO Global : "Regarding your concern, please be advised that it is our OPPO Malaysia team who could assist you with your concern and since you already contacted them and was advised that you need to wait for the 5G to be activated in Malaysia first, please stay tuned on their website for further updates.
Kindly be reminded that the phone was designed to be used in Malaysia thus it supports the current networks that are available there."
So I think I have to wait for couple of months until 5G activation in Malaysia . :cyclops:
I'm in the exact same boat bro. I ordered mine from Thailand though, same box and everything. We just have to wait for the updates, all the Pros have 5G that's a fact, I think, lol. They told me wait until June 10th for the update in Thailand. If you find anything else out please update and I will too.

Different versions of Xperia 5ii

I found there are 3 different versions of Xperia 5ii.
XQ-AS52, XQ-AS62, XQ-AS72
Anyone know the differences on these three models?
It seems based on product codes and xpericheck:
XQ-AS52 - EUROPE - 128Gb, 5G
XQ-AS62 - US - 128Gb, no 5G
XQ-AS72 - China/HK/Tw, 256Gb, 5G
My device is from europe and I'm on 1 aug security update.
So, no difference in the hardware and radios from what I read. I got the XQ-AS72 and I'm on Verizon. Initially, the IMEI said that it wouldn't work on Verizon. But if you get with the right tech rep on chat, tell them that you need to set up a CDMA-less phone. I did it today and got the phone working on Verizon! Only using LTE, but Verizon is killing off 3g (read: CDMA) at the end of the year, so can't imagine that will be an issue. Off to the races with a cheaper phone with double the internal storage than what I could order in the US....
Update: Phone works on Verizon. Did an online chat with tech support, and told them that I needed to be able to activate a phone as CDMA-less. I got hooked with a dude who had been with them for 7 years or so and he's all "I know exactly what you want to do and how to do it." Half hour later, I'm on the network and swinging large!

Install the official tool from Sony, Xperia Companion, and run a repair. I had the same issue. Now I am on 58.0.A.22.21 with October patches. You can easily use this tool, it is the official tool from Sony, so you are not illegaly flashing or unlocking it.
Does the XQ-AS72 variant work in Canada and the USA? Why cant I find detailed specs on the sony site for bands and such. Its such a pain.

Are you getting VoLTE on T-mobile out of the box, or did you need to flash the US firmware? Thinking of ordering the same version (for double the storage and the blue color) but from what I've seen so far seems like I need to flash the US firmware in order to get VoLTE to work on T-mobile.
Hi all! Guys, I am trying to bring all known info into one list, so IF YOU KNOW YOUR DEVICE\FIRMWARE REGION, could you please share model, memory capacity, 1sim or 2 sim, region and color followed by screenshot of Software Info page?
Just enter Service menu by dialing *#*#7378423#*#* , then go to Software Info

Here is an example of what and how I would see it.

Huh! That's the main point and problem. For now I\We don't know any working way to check xperia 5 II CID. If we could it would solve a problem with device region identification. But for now we can only rely on what Software info says and to try to understand what SOFTWARE VERIONS like GLOBALEEA-A2, GLOBAL-C2, etc. and PRODUCT CODES means. At leats that's what I am trying to do.
@Cptnfruitloops - You have HK or TW. I can't tell which one directly - or at least from shared info.
@LOCKDOC_UA - Did you try to explore firmwares? I guess it can help you with your effort.
Very interesting for identification is also "LTA version" (Yeh I dumped it from FWs). At least for XQ-AS72, where it can be used for distinguish CN from SEA and from TW/HK (they share same elabel). It won't help to distinguish XQ-AS52 versions though, since they share same elabel.
Anyway, those labels are quite interesting in few ways.
For example TW/HK version contains information about charging voltages/currents:
And for example Japanese versions (SO-52A) contains FM radio (If you check its FCC ID: PY7-08372L https://fccid.io/PY7-08372L - compare with European version FCC ID: PY7-310Z https://fccid.io/PY7-30637Z which doesn't have it.

Who can explain why US version has no 5G support? This model has different hardware? I thought 5G modem is a part of Snapdragon 865.
Does anyone know what ROW_Commercial means?
@LOCKDOC_UA
Its simple - they decided to turn it off since it (modem HW) doesn't support 5G bands used in US (It support only bands 1, 3, 8, 28, 77, 78 - none of those will work in US).
Because of that you can't market it as 5G phone in US - Support would be overwhelmed with questions from customers - I bought this 5G phone and it doesn't work with my operator? Which operator should I use to get 5G? We are sorry - none will work. So to avoid it they simply decided to turn it off.
Also forget 5G roaming - It doesn't work anywhere yet - so even keeping surprise overseas 5G doesn't make any sense.
@Cptnfruitloops - I guess its current used modem configuration, but may be I am wrong.

Question Has anyone in the U.S. received the ota update for June yet?

I have the unlocked S22 Ultra running on T-Mobile. Got the May update last month on 5/25 so it seems like it should be due by now.
Got my June update yesterday on my S22u - T-Moble (locked).
The Verizon update came out last week. I got it on 6/13
Nope
got mine 2 days ago (tmo locked)
STILL don't have a wifi calling icon on the status bar.
I don't use the ESIM, maybe thats the issue.
And i wont use the ESIM

Yes and no. Google has been pushing out features that no one knew they needed, and most are pretty badass. You can root without losing the warranty, and you get updates and new OS launches on day one. Those things were hard to leave. However, I've always had to root my pixels. Google doesn't give you hardly any customization options. The fonts suck, and you can't install any others, no icon packs unless you use a different launcher, and with A12, they gave us a whole 4 colors to choose from. Four, awful, awful colors. I was able to change them with root thankfully though. They REALLY need to get on the full customization train. If they did, I'd go back, but for now, I don't see myself getting another pixel anytime soon. And don't get me started on the pixel 6 pro.. Total piece lol. The main reason why I switched.
S22U1 Got tired of waiting so flashed it over to carrier Xfinity Mobile got mine over a week ago no noticeable difference except the carrier boot screen
Just got it on unlocked S22U on T-mobile.
The U.S. Unlocked model getting it now.
Unlocked on Sprint/T-Mobile and downloading the update now.
Got mine too. Finally. Wonder why the unlocked US versions are among the last to get it?
I thought I read something earlier that the June update included improvements to the camera. I guess not.
Just tried to update apps in the Galaxy Store app, and all the Update button does is cause the screen to sort of jump up then back down without updating the apps. Didn't do that before the June security update. Anyone else have this problem?
I decided to try signing out of my Samsung account, then sign back in, but nothing happens now except an error message that says "IMEI or MEID empty." What gives?

Question OnePlus 9 (LE211X) 256GB/12GB -- AT&T Service?

I've pre-ordered the OnePlus 10t, but having second thought based on the development / custom rom support currently for the OnePlus 10 Pro. I fear the same will happen with the OP 10T.
As a second option, I might opt for the OnePlus 9 instead. Lots of support and mods are already available.
I would want the 256GB/12GB RAM variant, but having trouble determining which models are allocated to specific regions.
I am located in the USA using AT&T service.
Can someone confirm if there is a OP9 256GB/12GB model that can work with AT&T ?
Thanks!
It will work fine, however it isn't on AT&T's supported 5g list, meaning just 4g service. LE2115 is the unlocked NA variant.

Nope, it won't work. The LE2115 is the only model whitelisted and it only comes in 8/128. AT&T does IMEI sweeps and boots incompatible devices.

OP would need to get the 9 Pro direct from OnePlus if they want 12/256 and AT&T compatibility.
Incidentally though, the 9 Pro is the better choice for development, as most of the devs and builders have the 9 Pro. Plenty of ROMs we can't get on the 9 side.

There isn't a 12/256 LE2115 because it wasn't released here.
For the record, I may be wrong about the 10T. I didn't see it in AT&T's whitelist but OnePlus' website even shows it certified for 5G, a first for OnePlus phones on AT&T.
The thing is, until it gets added to the whitelist, which may not happen right away, you risk getting a boot from the network for using it.
Still using T-Mo's unlocked 9 on AT&T just fine.

Question Does the Pixel 7 Pro support the DoD spectrum in the 3.45GHz range that AT&T is using?

I live in an area that AT&T can't use their 3.7GHz until 2024 so I'm hoping the Pixel will be able to connect to the DoD spectrum since 40MHz of that is better than nothing.

I have seen conflicting statements about this.
mmWave? Not sure about if it'll work or not, but be aware that there are two models. One is mmWave compatible and one isn't. It should if you have the mmWave device.
Go to settings > about phone > regulatory labels > model. If it says "GE2AE" there shouldn't be a problem.

No, I'm not talking about mmWave, as I know my GE2AE supports that. The DoD spectrum is a subset of band n77 that runs in the 3.45-3.55GHz range as opposed to the normal 3.7-3.98GHz of n77. It requires specific support in the radio. From what I have seen, the modem supports the specification, but that it may be disabled in the firmware. AT&T has 80MHz of C-band that they can't deploy here until 2024 and their LTE network and 5G nationwide are starting to get increasingly congested so it's disappointing to hear that my new phone may not get access to what they can deploy now.
According to the FCC, the hardware does. Firmware doesn't.
Would take a very significant update to Release 16 5G or cherrypicking of the feature to enable.
The Pixel 7 is an anomaly. It's a Release 15 phone, the same as a late 2019 phone, when Release 16 has been the norm for almost every other flagship this year. I've been told that the Exynos Galaxy S22 is also Release 15 when the Snapdragon version is Release 16.
Can this still change? Maybe. I doubt it. If it's not added for the March or June QPRs, it likely won't ever. The modem is still constantly being improved, but not where it really matters.

I thought it was discovered that some other Release 16 bands are included though? It's crazy that the newest Samsung modem can't do these things but the older one in the S22 Exynos model can... You would think newer modem means more capable...
I've updated my post to say that the Exynos S22 is Release 15.
Amelie, an NSG user, noted no Release 16 strings in modem logs.

Well that sucks. I guess if the 8 series doesn't have a Release 16 modem I'm going to have to dump the Pixel.
It's already inexcusable. Qualcomm claimed 60% power efficiency increase in their jump to Release 16.
It also adds other goodies like n46 NR-U (the successor to LTE-U and LAA) and additional bands like n77 DoD 3.45 GHz, eventual n14 for AT&T/FirstNet, n70 for Dish, eventual n30 WCS for AT&T, n46 NR-U for 5 GHz wifi spectrum, n96 NR-U for 6 GHz wifi spectrum, n48 for Dish and CBRS, n29 supplemental downlink for Dish, n259 mmwave which helps AT&T, n26 for whatever Dish and T-Mobile decide to do.

Well I'm helping my husband pay a $5K medical bill (it's crazy that this is just a deductible for a hospital visit and the insurance paid nothing because he still has $1100 worth of deductible left while he paid almost $1200 this year for the "insurance") and then maybe I'll get another phone.
