Re: most secure and streamlined ROM experience
Hey guys I am trying to get the most secure ROM like as Google as possible, where I can lockdown firewall and app permissions as well as data. I've looked at Lineage and Havok with microG has anyone have any good or bad experiences with these. I still would like to use Google play but not at the sacrifice of privacy.

Stock lol
Stock isn't secure not with Google keeping tabs on everything you come in contact with.

Oh, if you're talking secure away from Google, you are little too late, Google already have all your information stored in a safe place, so tinfoil hat won't help.
Past I am talking about future, it's never too late to start keeping back your information from company's simply because they already had it years ago. It's like saying you should allow an ex girlfriend into your room anytime she wants because she knows how big your ***** is.

I'm not expert but wouldn't paranoid Android be what you want?

I didn't see anything about security on the post.

LOS , you don't even have to install a single Google app
Just flash and go

Yea i understand! But it wasnt going to be un-attended access. Whenever you are on and then I will have to put in a password (randomizes it) that you give me and then i can help out. But i totally respect your decision.
So many things scream "warning!" and "Red flag!"
Should I go ahead and give you my bank account numbers, social security number and all that now, or how does this work exactly?
No need to flame the dude I understand that there are some people who literally have the worse Inet connection that you want to committed suicide on but it's a security thing to me

I agree- flaming unnecessary.
But- what comes across as a red flag to me is the non-existent rom he says he created and ALL the benefits he offers ALL xda members get.
Edit: to be honest- i LIKE the idea of being part of a team- of established developers.....

Not sure if his name is serious or just a rip from NExtGen Rom.
work on a current rom
Seems like the smarter thing to have done would have been to worked on someone elses ROM before contemplating creating your own.
Lol this is that guy making that bunk space rom in the t989 forums and bricked everybodys phones formerly known as jal studios the link to that Facebook is to the same Facebook group. He's a total douche do NOT trust him.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1892284

Google are becoming Apple, every new update they've done something to restrict the freedom of the platform or make you jump through several menus to get to what used to just be there, kinda like Windows 8 lol.
After using Symbian on the 808, I just think Android is so far behind it in terms of functionality, Nokia let you do anything, they don't care, though they ditched it now so why should they lol. I wish they didn't ditch it now though and I wish the 808 had newer specs because the browser is so slowwwwww!

How exactly are they restricting us? We will always have the option to sideload or get it from another location.

With ads forming a big revenue for some many developers Google was contemplating it for a while. I guess it will soon be side loaded ad blockers only. I hope they allow update to older already present ad blockers.
I was using AdAway. AdAway is available in, and even receives updates through the F-Droid app store, so that's what I'll use for the time being.

There's other stores like above mentioned F-droid.. There's also slideme.org and aptoid.com
Totally understand and back them doing this.
Ads are part of how they earn money on this _free_ OS and the hundreds of _free_ quality apps in the store.

Yes I actually wrote that down then deleted it again before I posted.
I understand removing from Play as long as those of us somewhat more techminded can still sideload...
It's the majority of pure users this affects (not implying a negative undertone there).

But it seems to work better on data than WiFi. You can get the forum to load of you keep refreshing the app. Unfortunately, we will have to use our PCs until then.. I'm lucky I was able to connect now.

I get failed to connect to forum please contact forum administrator along those lines. It seems to be getting slightly better but it still bad. If I keep refreshing a lot I can load the pages.. But it sucks because I know it's not on our side, almost certainly with XDA. I changed my IP just in case by spoofing my Mac on my router but still nothing. Other forums work well. It's unfortunately a big problem that only a handful of us are experiencing. Waiting game til someone hears our cries for help I suppose.

Thank you good sir. Didn't know that was there even after looking I'll admit. So it seems like a lot of other people are having the same problem. It definitely makes dealing with something easier when you're not the only one and saves from having to troubleshoot.
Edit : can confirm its something between XDA and our ISPs.
The problem I described happens on Xfinity Comcast Internet.
However, the problem does not occur at all on LTE T-Mobile.
