I know the AT&T S2 can work as a standalone device, but looking at the Verizon page it says "leave your phone behind..." but has a note underneath that saying that the S2 is a companion device and must be connected to a phone on the carrier's network. So I was wondering which one it is.

It will. It's given its own phone number. But it's not like the AT&T NumberSync.

It gets its own number, but also uses the phones number when connected. You can also forward your phone to the gear number.
If it works like tmobile version (I assume it does) it can work as companion device or stand alone unit. If you are within Bluetooth range than watch acts as companion device and you can pick up phone call via watch or phone. If you come out of that range then gear automatically sets call forwarding from your phone to watch and your calls are routed to watch. Once you come back to Bluetooth range call forwarding is being disabled. Within settings you can disable call forwarding and you can use phone and watch as separate devices with separate phone numbers.
Hi. Ive just added the $5 wearable plan to my account, but calls are not being forwarded to the Gear S2. I have set the option in the app on my S7 Edge to forward calls when remotely connected. Here is a summary of what happens:
Devices connected via bluetooth: When I call my phone line, both the phone and Gear S2 ring, and I can take the call from either
Gear S2 in standalone mode: When I call the Gear S2 number, the watch rings
Devices remotely connected (bluetooth on phone switched off): Gear S2 says it is remotely connected, and that calls are being forwarded. However, when I call my phone line, only the phone rings rather than the Gear S2
Can anyone help resolve this issue? Both the app on my phone and the Gear S2 have the correct number for the watch. I have logged the problem with T-mobile and so am waiting for tech support to get back to me. It seems unlikely that this is a problem with the device since everything else works, and is more likely to be a network issue
Thanks
You have 2 differents phone number ?
Call forward works with 2 SIM and 2 differents phone number. You forward your phone Number to the Gear Phone number.

I have 2 different numbers: 1 for the phone and one for the gear. I have set the Gear app to forward calls, and the gear confirms that calls are being forwarded when in the remote connection state. But no calls are being forwarded - thi is my issue

If you call are forwarded your phone do not ring. If it ring, it mean that call are not forwarded.
Try to find the UUI code for forward call and tap the code on your phone app dialer pad, or use Android phone setting to forward your call. Gear app use standard code for forward but this do not work with all operator. Forward call is an operator feature and not related to one specific app (Gear manager or other)

Sounds like you have t-mobile correct? If so the phone has to be on for the phone to forward calls to the watch. If the phone is off it will not work. The way it works is if you get out of bluetooth range it will forward calls to the watch
Yes, I'm on tmobile and the phone is on. Even though I have call forwarding set in the app, maybe there is a setting on the network side? I don't want to have to manually enter codes each time I want to forward/ stop forwarding so hopefully I can resolve the issue and just use the setting in the Gear app. Thanks

well there is a setting on the watch to turn call forwarding on. Maybe you should try that but other than that i would call t-mobile thats all i have turned on and it works
I'm connected to my Android phone via Bluetooth, no problem. My watch has started to default back to my phone when receiving calls after just one ring not giving me time to answer. It didn't use to do this. How do I get it back to normal number of rings on watch before going to phone\VM?
Hi there.
Just got the S7 edge and the S3 frontier, i had the Note 3 and S2 before, with the same problem.
Whenever i make or receive a call in the chat program Line or Messenger, the S2/3 is seen as a Bluetooth Sound device (wich is actually is), and so the sound it not send out through the normal speakers in my S7, and i can almost not hear what people say. There is no sound coming from the S3. If i however disconnect bluetooth, and then make the call, then there is no problem at all. This is pretty anoying.
Does anybody have a solution for this, besides disconnecting the S3 every time????
Regards from Denmark
I had the same problem. I went to see a Samsung technician in the Best Buy and asked for help. He tapped the phone icon on my s7 and tapped settings (like three dots) located at the upper right. Then click on "Settings". Next clicked on "answering and ending calls. Turn off Automatic answering by sliding to the left. That's all.
H!
All the call I make or receive are directed to my watch instead of the phone (Huawei G7 stock).
I've already tried to remove the audio profile from the BT settings on my phoneonly to get the watch disconnected.
How can I fix this annoyng "bug" (I thinks is not a feature )?
