I have recently purchased a new Mate 30 and installed GMS services on it, but I found that commuting apps(such as Tada, my region equivalent of Uber/Lyfe) that are available in both the HMS app store and Play store are unable to work properly as the map interface would be stuck on "Google play services updating". I tried to see if my location is work by going onto google maps and it displays my current location using GPS just fine. Any workarounds for this?

Did you install GMS successfully? I meant I assume there is no pop up notification of Google Play Protect, didn't it?

Yea there was no pop up notification of Google Play Protect, but multiple popup notifications for Google Play services requires an action. Could you be referring to that? I followed this tutorial on youtube: https:// youtu.be/ZYhlr_BQGlw

I have checked the video you shared earlier. Here are my thoughts:
I have installed GMS on my Mate 30 Pro and I have equivalent Uber app here in my country. I opened the app and the issue is one thing; the map is unable to load but I am able to order a ride, car or food in that app by manually typing it. It is not convenient for me by the way.
I joined community and it is found that the tutorial of mine is having drawbacks and unable to load the maps is one of them. Some people experienced the same way meaning that it is the issue of many.
Some apps rely on updated Google Play Service and Google Service Framework, but I assume you followed the tutorial with GSF Mod installed on.
Can you just install Grab app? Try to test it out whether the maps is loading or not.

I have installed the Grab app but it wouldn't get past the page where it says GPS can't be detected. This is despite having turnt on GPS permissions for the app. I had performed a clean installation initially but redid some of the steps after I thought I made a few mistakes.

Does anyone else think the new Google Play Store sucks?
It's a horrible use of space. It's bad enough that recently Google made it so that if you want to buy an app, you are forced to create a Google Wallet account that is tied to your mobile carrier.
Now, Google Play store has this big waste of space, and surprise, the tab to tell you the app's permissions is missing.
Where do I find an app's permissions?

If you want t search by permissions, visit the appscrawler site (appscrawler.com). I do not have permission to enter an url. But you can Google it. There are lot of Android apps what are pointing to Play Store. One of the advantage of the site is the ability to search by permissions.

found this thread while searching for google play sucks
i too think it sucks and honestly lacks some serious functionality. all i have is a huge messy list of apps. no way to sort your apps, by either category, or even a simple search that will search your list of apps. the google play app for tablet (if it's a different build) is much worse.. lots of wasted screen space and the list of your apps is narrow and frustrating to navigate. i buy many apps and currently there is also no way to only see apps that i've bought.
maybe google doesn't feel it necessary to continue to improve and add features to it because they don't make much money off app sales? no idea, but it's pretty puzzling how long its been and again, it lacks basic functions to easy manage your apps. you should be able to manage your apps as if you were just browsing the app store. things sorted by category, title, size, date, last purchase,etc. maybe i am being unrealistic and asking for too much.. ?
I've stopped downloading new apps or updating my existing apps. Yes, to me the Google Play store sucks that bad!
Quick backstory - tired of Google knowing everything about me and seeing targetted adverts everywhere i go, I've bought a little Moto G as a project and decided not to install google play services on it, and use open source alternatives to google's apps.
While alternative stores like F-Droid are great, there are certain apps that are only on the play store, which I can no longer download since I don't have the play store installed. This is where apk downloader comes in. You do still need a google account to authenticate with, and a google services framework ID from a device that has been activated with google play services (you can ignore this if you have play services installed, you can find your gsfid using my app or an app called "Android ID" in the market), but after that you're free from google!
The app adds a "share" button to app pages in browsers, so you can search for apps using your browser and then click share to download, completely bypassing google play.

I've spent a lot of time trying to get requests and responses to work using protobuf (the system the play store uses) but have been unable to do so since it's just guesswork really, so it's constructing requests manually, the same way as the chrome extension which does this very same thing.
It's nowhere near finished, but I just thought I'd share this in case anyone finds it useful. You can also use this app to download apks that the play store may have blocked from your device, for example.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PLAY SERVICES INSTALLED:
Use an app like this to get your google services framework ID, and enter it in the settings.

working great..!
It looks like this can only download apps that are compatible with the device you got the device ID from. I kept getting the "App not found", but only for apps that weren't normally compatible with my HTC One (M7). Once I searched for a regular app like Nova everything went fine. Is there any work around for this?

For now I've not got round to implementing oauth, it is something that could potentially be done in the future though.
If you're worried, the full source code is available and you can compile the app yourself.

I've just added device parameters in settings so you can choose what info is sent with the request for the download. By default it's a Nexus 4, but you should be able to play around and see what settings allow you to download the apps you want.

My fault, I uploaded a test build by accident. It should work now if you download it again or use the link to the one on google play.
Hi everyone,
All the Google Now threads have all the steps and procedure to make Android L's "always listening" mode work; but they do not work for all users. This method, which I discovered on Youtube, worked for me and should work for all rooted devices running Android 4.4+ (KitKat).
Prerequisites:
Android 4.4+ (Kit Kat)
Unleash the Google app: View attachment UnleashTheGoogle.apk **THIS WILL ONLY WORK FOR ROOTED DEVICES**
The latest Google Now launcher: View attachment GoogleHome.apk
And the latest Google Search app which I could not upload due to size limit: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid...B] [URL="http://d-h.st/kCa"]http://d-h.st/kCa
The work:
1) Make sure you have both the latest Google Now Launcher and Search app downloaded
2) Once you have those, install Unleash the Google... Grant root access.
3) Force close the Google Search app by going to settings>apps>Google Search> force close
4) After that all these options will pop up in Google Now Launcher's settings, if followed the instructions correctly.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5) Next what you would do is click "config flags" and scroll down until you see "e300_voice_everywhere, embedded_endpoint, and enable_e300" and make sure you turn them all on.
6) Then scroll down to "speaker_id_supported_locales" and put "en-US" **US has to be capital**
7) Scroll down and save the settings by clicking "Save config settings"
- Note that no toast notification will pop up saying that the settings have been saved. Force close Google Search just in case.
If you have done everything correctly, a new option (Audio History) in the voice settings in the Google Now Launcher settings should pop up. Make sure you have it turned on.
8) While in the voice settings, go to "Ok Google Detection" and click "from any screen"
9) Profit!
Credits:
All credits go to the person who made the video, which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R1B-t_Wsf4
Note:
The version of Google Search that Android L comes with is 3.5.13, while the version you need for the "Ok Google" detection anywhere is 3.5.14. I have already linked to the download of 3.5.14 in the "Prerequisites" section.
Update:
1) It appears as if the rollout is per account. So no matter what users try, it is up to Google for enabling the feature to their account. Sorry! :/
2) It only works in the US? Someone please confirm.
3) This mod requires KitKat in order for it to work.
Fixes:
If you are experiencing force closes with Google Search, try flashing the latest PA GAPPs, which can be found here: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=15800
For Italian Users: http://www.androidworld.it/forum/gu...le-everywhere-con-google-search-3-5-a-142371/
Warnings:
This mod is known to cause battery drain.
For Non-Rooted Users:
If you still are not able to enable the settings, try doing this method:
Open Google Search and do a text search for "Okay Google Everywhere" WITHOUT the quotes.
After that, head into Search settings, then Voice and profit.
Hope these methods worked for you. If you did not get any of the instructions, do comment or you can watch the video.

Hey enable core mode on magisk along with magisk hide. It has been working normally since then for me.
Had the same in Beta 13, uninstalled 18.1 and flashed 17.3.
Working fine just made a touch payment in a store, only issue is reminder before updating Magisk every so often
I was having this issue. Went away when I flashed the latest Blu spark and reinstalled magisk and ex kernel. No idea what was causing it though.
This is from jarlPenguin from this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/discussion-google-pay-magisk-discussion-t3906703.
All I had to do is downgrade to 14.7.9 Google Play services and just went back into each card that was already added to Google pay and cards were activated for in store purchases properly
The new Google Play services update caused this.
Temporary workaround:
1. Disable Google Pay/Find My Device as Device Administrators in Settings > Security & location > Device Administrators.
2. Search "Google Play services" in the Settings search bar.
3. Press the three dots and press "Uninstall previous updates".
4. Download this update - https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...-7-99-release/
Pick your needed edition (arm or arm64, etc.), download it and install it.
5. Disable Background data access for Google Play Services and Google Play in their respective App Info pages.
6. Download Google Pay from the Play Store.
7. Set up your cards. Enjoy!
Never EVER update Google Play services manually, until a Magisk update is available that bypasses the upgraded SafetyNet. Note that Google Play services is responsible for adding/verifying the card, not the Google Pay app! Hence why there seems to be an overlay when adding a card/verifying an existing one.
Tested Google Pay versions:
2.79.x-2.83.235070858 - working
Tested Google Play services versions:
14.7.99 - working
14.8.49-15.0.10 - not working, downgrade to 14.7.99

Did the trick for me multiple times, on OB13, 9.0.4, and Pixel Experience. So definitely Play Services related !
Installed 18.2 and enabled magisk hide on Google pay, this worked for me, but wouldn't activate on 18.1
18.2 just drop? That wasn't available when I saw the temporary fix downgrading play services to version 14.7.99
I'm on the beta channel too and still says 18.1 is latest beta as well. Hmm.

18.2 just drop? That wasn't available when I saw the temporary fix downgrading play services to version 14.7.99

This is from jarlPenguin from this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/discussion-google-pay-magisk-discussion-t3906703.
All I had to do is downgrade to 14.7.9 Google Play services and just went back into each card that was already added to Google pay and cards were activated for in store purchases properly
14.7.99 - working
14.8.49-15.0.10 - not working, downgrade to 14.7.99

I tried this and I stopped seeing errors about being rooted in the app, but the card reader at the store is not accepting the payment. I have only tried it at one store so far but they told me other customers used the NFC today and it was fine.
Edit: It was just a problem at the Jewel store. I used Google Pay with the same modifications at a pet store and Aldi since then and it was fine.

I don't know then. It worked perfectly for me right away. I've even updated Google pay time since then with no issues, just not updating Google play services
Hi all, I have recently made the jump from a Huawei P30 Pro (GMS) to a Huawei P40 Pro (HMS) so far my experience has been nonetheless amazing from a hardware perspective the camera, battery, display etc have been completely phenomenal.
Now on to the software I was somewhat sceptically that Huawei were ready to launch HMS so quickly given the USA trade deals which have somewhat hindered the US / Huawei relations (although 5G is being provided by Huawei to rural USA) Phone Clone has been an absolute god send of a tool I have majority of my apps I use on a daily basics from social media, banking, business etc.
I know App Gallery is getting better by the day but feel Huawei could advertise that they have some big apps onboard otherwise how am I a consumer every going to be aware of top apps coming onboard, what have your workarounds been to get your top apps on to HMS?
Youtube Vanced is the best one in my opinion on the youtube work around. We are all so used to using an app for this that going back to the browser is almost going back to the stone age. Only down side is that i haven't managed to login meaning its not a fully fluid process and doesn't save your place and everything.

Probably not what you're looking for but FotMob has recently started working fully functionally on my P40 Pro (footy scores + updates) alongside the Premier League and UEFA Apps (which are also on AppGallery)

I've used this and it works really well. I had a few things that didn't transfer on phone clone and i found it easier doing this than. Transferring them again.

You can login into youtube vanced. You just have to go to settings-apps-apps-Vanced MicroG,touch storage- clear data,then to back one page, touch the settings icon on the upper right corner and disable Google Device registration and Google Cloud messaging. Then you can open Youtube Vanced and login.

. I think it will be a wait and see. Do not think the banks will be up for this until apps are available more through App gallery than phone cloning them across.
I've always regretted going with the old mans bank of Barclays, purely because their mobile support SUCKS. Have had issues with their apps even prior to the GMS being absent on devices.... dating all the way back to my P10.... Web link works fine as you guys say, except the use of fingerprint log in.... Still hope something can be done - I just feel as though it could be a while with their track record.

I downloaded the app from Petal but updated it through AG.
