Does anyone else think the new Google Play Store sucks?
It's a horrible use of space. It's bad enough that recently Google made it so that if you want to buy an app, you are forced to create a Google Wallet account that is tied to your mobile carrier.
Now, Google Play store has this big waste of space, and surprise, the tab to tell you the app's permissions is missing.
Where do I find an app's permissions?

AppBrain to the Rescue!
I've started using AppBrain. Tells me permissions and it's a lot more user-friendly.
If you don't like the new crappy Google Play, call them and complain:

If you want t search by permissions, visit the appscrawler site (appscrawler.com). I do not have permission to enter an url. But you can Google it. There are lot of Android apps what are pointing to Play Store. One of the advantage of the site is the ability to search by permissions.

found this thread while searching for google play sucks
i too think it sucks and honestly lacks some serious functionality. all i have is a huge messy list of apps. no way to sort your apps, by either category, or even a simple search that will search your list of apps. the google play app for tablet (if it's a different build) is much worse.. lots of wasted screen space and the list of your apps is narrow and frustrating to navigate. i buy many apps and currently there is also no way to only see apps that i've bought.
maybe google doesn't feel it necessary to continue to improve and add features to it because they don't make much money off app sales? no idea, but it's pretty puzzling how long its been and again, it lacks basic functions to easy manage your apps. you should be able to manage your apps as if you were just browsing the app store. things sorted by category, title, size, date, last purchase, etc. maybe i am being unrealistic and asking for too much.. ?
I've stopped downloading new apps or updating my existing apps. Yes, to me the Google Play store sucks that bad!

Anybody else get this upgrade to their market?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
Yes, I got it earlier. Everyone should get it in a day or two. It's just a renamed version of the market. They also renamed Music, Books, and Videos to add Google Play in front.
I love the new direction of Google.
Does this mean Google music for every country?

Seen that, should have searched before posting this

I got the update! Loving the direction Google is going as well, this was definitely needed!
I got it using the workaround I found in other thread.
Those who haven't got it yet could try these:
1. Force close Market
2. Clear data
3. Uninstall updates
4. Open Market (it should ask you to accept Google Play agreement)
5. Wait till it loads
6. Press home button
7. Just wait for a while, if possible, leave the screen on for about 5 minutes
8. Go to Settings - Applications, you should see Google Play already installed

What's new about it? Dont want to lose my transparent widget yet.

Just got the update and this is awful I mean really naming it the "play store"? I can accept the play movies, & play music part it is kinda catchy for the media aspect but renaming the whole market? Just no. Play apps and play books just sounds wrong when saying it. Androids starting to suck bad.
Also no matter what the market keeps updating I even uninstalled market updater and it comes back, anyone got any ideas on how to keep the old market?

I don't think you can...cause even if you can get the old market its going to be uploaded every time you get into it! What you can do is getting an app which allows you to change the name of the apps.....

Dislikes the name..but love the discounts..
Deleting data of market app is enough to trigger the update.
But so far there's no change here, except a new name, new icon and ver-number 3.4.6.
All the good stuff is still available in the us only.
Should be pushing out now ... I got mine yesterday

there are times when people ask about these questions. When you purchased android at that time you paid Google fees to use their services. well for this today they got biggest application pool. I mean play store has all the available apps that anybody need (for free). i saw apple where most of the things looks beautiful and also they are good but most the best stuff is paid. Those Chinese you will install are not certified to be safe by Google. that will put you to risk of leaking your personal info on internet. Just install apps that came from good source. well installing from anywhere does not give you best apps.. be safe and play safe.. this is what is my reply to you. :good:
You may be referring to Aptoide which is sort of an aggregator of multiple user managed stores. These users may or may not provide apps that you usually have to pay for in Google Play. Its like torrents, the medium is not illegal but the content may be.
Of course downloading such apps from unofficial sources without paying for them is illegal and I do not recommend doing this at all because you are directly hurting the developers who spend a lot of time and resources to make apps and games. It is as bad as stealing. Also, there is no guarantee that any app downloaded from any store on Aptoide has not been tampered with and may contain malicious content like trojans, etc. You download apps from unverified sources at your own risk.
I must emphasize again, it is morally and legally wrong to commit the act of piracy and apps do not cost much at all, if you can afford a smart phone you can surely spend a couple of bucks now and then to buy apps else find what you need in the free app universe.
Might I suggest GetJar as an alternate which provides some paid apps for free somtimes or other unlocks, etc.
F-Droid
This may not exactly be what you're looking for, but there is F-Droid, which is a repository of Free and Open Source Software. May be worth the look.
I don't understand why there isn't a top free games section on the play store, free games can make far more money than one with a price.

There are actually quite a few alternatives.
-Amazon Appstore
-GetJar
-SlideME Marketplace
-F-Droid
That's only naming a few, if you do a google search you can get at least a dozen more.
Please note that these appstores require that you install the apps by turning on "Unknown Sources" so be careful what you download.

That sounds like fairly dangerous advice to me, if you decide to do this make sure you trust the site you are downloading first!
If I were you I would just use one of the markets motomotomotoG mentioned instead, atleast you can read reviews/see ratings on those sites.
And again, if you do decide to pirate an application (please don't!) understand you are hurting the developer that put so much time and effort into making this application!
The app is called Now Playing Register. With it, you can find the old songs recognized by Now Playing even if they’re gone days ago. Just open the app and you’ll see a register of all the songs you heard since this app were installed.
“Now Playing Register” will remind for you all the songs you listened to. The only thing that you have to care about is to install this app.

In addition, you can also erase songs from your history and search them in Google and different applications like YouTube or Spotify to enjoy them again or know more about. It is a simple but functional material design application.

I have checked the video you shared earlier. Here are my thoughts:
I have installed GMS on my Mate 30 Pro and I have equivalent Uber app here in my country. I opened the app and the issue is one thing; the map is unable to load but I am able to order a ride, car or food in that app by manually typing it. It is not convenient for me by the way.
I joined community and it is found that the tutorial of mine is having drawbacks and unable to load the maps is one of them. Some people experienced the same way meaning that it is the issue of many.
Some apps rely on updated Google Play Service and Google Service Framework, but I assume you followed the tutorial with GSF Mod installed on.
Can you just install Grab app? Try to test it out whether the maps is loading or not.

Hi all, I have recently made the jump from a Huawei P30 Pro (GMS) to a Huawei P40 Pro (HMS) so far my experience has been nonetheless amazing from a hardware perspective the camera, battery, display etc have been completely phenomenal.
Now on to the software I was somewhat sceptically that Huawei were ready to launch HMS so quickly given the USA trade deals which have somewhat hindered the US / Huawei relations (although 5G is being provided by Huawei to rural USA) Phone Clone has been an absolute god send of a tool I have majority of my apps I use on a daily basics from social media, banking, business etc.
I know App Gallery is getting better by the day but feel Huawei could advertise that they have some big apps onboard otherwise how am I a consumer every going to be aware of top apps coming onboard, what have your workarounds been to get your top apps on to HMS?

You just have to go to settings-apps-apps-Vanced MicroG,touch storage- clear data, then to back one page, touch the settings icon on the upper right corner and disable Google Device registration and Google Cloud messaging. Then you can open Youtube Vanced and login.

Youtube Vanced is the best one in my opinion on the youtube work around. We are all so used to using an app for this that going back to the browser is almost going back to the stone age. Only down side is that i haven't managed to login meaning its not a fully fluid process and doesn't save your place and everything.

. I think it will be a wait and see. Do not think the banks will be up for this until apps are available more through App gallery than phone cloning them across.
I've always regretted going with the old mans bank of Barclays, purely because their mobile support SUCKS. Have had issues with their apps even prior to the GMS being absent on devices.... dating all the way back to my P10.... Web link works fine as you guys say, except the use of fingerprint log in.... Still hope something can be done - I just feel as though it could be a while with their track record.

Hey man I used LiveScore (HMS) for the City & Chelsea game last night and yep notifications pulled through fine.
I downloaded the app from Petal but updated it through AG.
