Issue-When device is off and you plug charger, charging symbol appears on the screen but nothing else happens. After that you can't boot the device with power button and that symbol remains even if you remove the cable. Only way to boot is to press Vol - & power. It's not a big issue but very annoying. Anyone else running custom ROM, please check & confirm what happens when you put charging cable with phone off? Anyone know how to fix?
I have flashed many ROMs including GSIs as I thought this was a ROM issue but issue remains on every ROM. Currently running lineage-17.1-20200413-UNOFFICIAL-treble_arm64_avN which is working fine/
Hi. That charge symbol only works with one ui ROMs.
By the way can you give the link of lineage is you are using? And your vendor version? Do you have root access?
Oh you're talking about offline charging, yeah like the previous person it works only One UI rom, On GSI it won't and it's a known issue.
Edit : don't discharge your phone to zero.

On my Nabi 2 I completed the OTA to 1.9.37, root, and gapps install - had the upgrading message on every boot but fixed that with the new gapps package (thanks a lot to all the great developers on this forum!)
However I still have a problem since the root process that I haven't seen addressed so far after searching the forums.
After my putting the Nabi 2 to sleep and plugging in the charger, it will fully charge and turn the battery light green as it should, shortly after that the device then powers off and requires a reboot/cold start vs. just a quick click of the power button to return from sleep mode. It does reboot fine and has a full charge - all other operations are normal.
Any suggestions on how to eliminate this power down/reboot after charging?
Thanks!
I've been having the same issue and have yet to find a solution. My sons Nabi already had the latest update so I just rooted it and then later did the Gapps fix to solve the constant "optimizing apps" issue. Now I've noticed the charging problem.
Just wanted to bump this thread as I have the same issue. I thought it was the hardware because I two tablets (one for each of my boys) with the same exact setup and only one exhibiting the problem.
I have noticed that I have to long press the power button twice, leading me to think that the device is on but unresponsive and I am turning off then back on to get it up and running...
I think my next step might be to completely restore to factory setup and see if it goes away...
On a side note anyone experience issues with fooz kids videos not loading??
Anyone has found a solution to this? I seem to have exactly the same issue. If i plug the charger in on a working system it freezes. Two times long press to do a reboot.
Mine lockup most times when plugging the charger in or leaving it charging on with screen off. Has done it since the beginning. There was a report that for it locking up while off turning the wi-fi off before hand helped. Otherwise I haven't seen a sure fire solution.
hey,
my callphone (samsung galaxy s captivate) restarts by itself sometimes (~once a week or 2). i can live with that , but my problem is when it restarts like that while i'm asleep , and the phone is connected to the charger, because what happens then is that it enters charging mode (when the screen shows a big recharging battery) instead of just restarting and booting to the OS (and as a result , the alarm doesnt wake me up).
my question is: is there any way to change that behavior ? i mean is it possible to make the phone turn on and boot to the OS if it was turned off and then connected to a charger (or restarted while connected to a charger) ? is it the kernel or the hardware that makes to boot into the charging mode instead of the OS ?
thanks

Might Be a hardware issue. You can Try Wipeing Data But if you are rooted or not stock rom use Recovery.

it probably a hardware issue (the restarting) .. i'm using custom rom, and i tried 2 roms (and i wiped everything including formatting system partition) but the problem is still there . thats the reason i'm trying to find a work around .
if its the kernel that makes the phone boot into charging mode when it gets connected to charger while turned off, then i guess its possible to change the functionality and make it boot the OS instead of the charging mode. but if its the hardware then i'm doomed.
google didn't help me so i posted here hopping that kernel developers answer my question.
thanks for the reply
Don't knows hat to tell ya then kernels do that sometimes.
Sent from my LG-LG730 using xda app-developers app
i eventually found nomoahpowa! that can do what i was looking for, but its not working on JB .. is there anyone here that knows how can i do something similar ? (i'm a computer science student, i can code)
Galaxy tab 2 7 P3113. Actual ROM: pacman based on android 4.2.2. ROM used when it first failed was a 4.1.2 stock based rom for P31xx).
i never dropped the tablet. the problem started after connecting to the pc for transfering photos.
it simply shutdown on connect and when this happen the device stay off even when i use the power button. cant use recovery or go in download mode. the only way to start the system is to use wall charger and the recovery or download mode buttons when the batterie icon started to show the charge animation. the date and time reset. i can disconnect the charger and use the device for some time but can randomly go black (no power) and the same thing happen... cant use power button or go in recovery or download mode. when the device work i can shutdown, power up and reboot normaly until it happen again.
seem to be a problem related to battery power. the battery charge and keep charge like it should, can be a problem between the battery and the board or maybe a failure of the board itself. (i know date reset on pc because there no power to keep in memory. seem to be the same on this tablet.) sd data is fine. i ask here in case it can be solved by other way than returning the device or open it.
was using a custom rom when the problem started. i tryed some other rom with full wipe with no effect.
i have seen similar issue but in my case the battery actualy charge to 100% and keep his charge normaly.
any idea how to fix this? if the only option is a return to ssamsung for repair i would like to know the step required.
note: when it fail and the device is connected to pc i ear constant connect/disconnect sound from pc and it look for omap4430 driver.

ok , another thing... i tried to connect it to my pc this time it work and i was able to transfer stuff to it. i unpluged and pluged again, no failure... the only thing i did was a few gentle tap on the back of the device to see if it was related to a bad connection to the battery. i also did a factory reset. will see if the device can stay unconnected without failure. anyway i have to wait for samsung reply.

Hi guys
My device is Mi4W 3G/16G. That morning i got up and turned on my phone but the screen was black and could not turn it on.Then I used MiSuitePC to fastboot. It automatically downloaded and flash Rom (seem it was China Rom but my device used Global Rom). But after flashing the device didn't boot up. So I tried to flash Rom by test point .It was successfully flashed by test point. But i still can't turn it on. I put it on charge, the red Led blinks. Connects and then disconnects when using data cable to connect with PC. The connect-disconnect loop goes on for as long as it isn't unplugged. Now, i cannot enter fastboot mode or recovery . Does it has hardware issues such as Pin, main,.. ?. Anyone encountered this problem?
Thanks.
I met the same problem but I don't know how to solve it
I know I may be 4 years too late, but this is usually an issue of an overdischarged battery, maybe leave it on a charger or open the device and check the battery voltage.
Hello all
just before i get started i did have a thread here regarding this issue before but sadly unable to find it now so seems i need to start over....
this is more of an update on what has been done so far but will just give detail about the issue from start
when this phone came to me it was not functioning i have no clue to what the wife done to it.... it appears that it may not be charging and something is stopping it from charging..... the charging indicator is on (( orange )) and the battery will display on screen with a lightening bolt in the center.... if i plug into laptop the laptop will sound off the USB connection and disconnection alert will do that 3 or 4 times
pressing power button will make phone vibrate and will display a battery with the lightening bolt assuming that means battery is flat as a pancake
holding volume up and power button brings me into the recovery option total of 3 options show 1) normal 2) fastboot 3) recovery whatever i select say for example recovery it will display the Asus and powered by Android this will last for about 3 to 5 seconds before going off again
so that is the state of the phone as of now and even after other things i have done as i will mention
in the past i have come across 2 phones with the very same issue the first one i flashed my self that phone only shown a charging indicator light but i found the flash tool and rom from the Alcatel website and it fixed the issue so assuming the same would apply with this Asus also the other phone i had with same issue was fixed with a flash
so here is what i have done so far using SP flash tools and following instructions from different places i have successfully flashed over the Stock Rom done it under download only also format + download and even tried firmware upgrade but i am still stuck with the same thing as mentioned above
obviously after flashing the phone it needs to power up to complete the setup process but as is clear i cannot do that if the battery has little to no juice
so what i am looking for is a solution to getting the phone to charge again or a way to charge the battery by other means (( bare in mind this phone has built in battery )) (( battery has been replaced new ))
what could be causing the phone to not charge or at least give battery the power it needs i ask because i do believe the phone is giving the battery some power but very little..... the way i look at this situation is like installing a sound card on a PC but not installing the driver the PC knows the sound card is there but cannot work without the driver same seems to apply with the phone
if i disconnect the battery from the main board the laptop will not pick up the phone even if i press down on the volume down button as i do when using SP flash and the orange charge light flashes so i don't see the issue being with mainboard but more likely a software glitch maybe the MTK chip is not doing its job properly or maybe it thinks the battery has full charge and stops the charger from adding more juice when in fact battery is flat
so can anyone enlighten me to what could be the problem and a solution
thanks in advance
