Best settings for ViperFX - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hello, I'm totally new to this and I'm searching for some help.
I've recently installed Hal9K mod for my android head unit. It is PX30, and I have Android 9.0. I also have aftermarket speakers (Hertz CK 165) and a subwoofer (1000W).
So I'm asking what are the best settings for ViperFX? Should I instally any IRS files? Should I change the settings for headset, or for speaker, or for bluetooth? Should I thick something in the settings before the Viper stars working automatically everytime when I play some music?
Thanks for your help.

I also am interested in what others use for V4A settings. So far my audio is either sounds like it's in a can or I can not change the directional audio..

Equalizer for bluetooth headset

Hello.
I have moto X , German retail rom 4.4.2
Seems that default audio effects do not support bluetooth headset.
I've tried lots of them from play market the equalization happens but among with that volume reduces immensely .
Will someone suggest a way to equalize bluetooth headset without loosing volume level? At least bass boost.
Thanks.:cyclops:

I've downloaded apk for android 4.4 from official site. Granted it SU, installed driver, rebooted several times but it doesn't take any effect neither with wired either bluetooth headphones.
What can it possibly be?
Android schamanism pisses me off

I have the moto E, and I can't get equalizers to do anything. Not even reduce gain.

Bluetooth headset compatibility

Hello guys, anyone use a bluetooth headset? if yes, what brand is it? i use LG tone+ that support bluetooth 4.1, a2dp and apt-x, but the problem is the sound frequently become distorted, especially when my kenzo far enough from bluetooth headset (50 cm +). Is the problem with headset or rom i used? i use miui 8 dev cn. thanks for help.
hey, i think its headset related. im using a AudioMX Bluetooth Over-Ear headset and it works within a reach of 4-5m. after that distance i have problem with audio distortion.
I have a sony SBH60 and it works flawlessly. No distortion at all, and little to no "audio lag" (I mean audio/video sync), at least I haven't noticed while watching classic youtube content, I don't use my phone for movies or TV Shows.
For me I am using Samsung level U and everything works well. Besides, I have a portable bluetooth speaker too (china brand) and also works.
what rom do you use guys? i use miui dev cn official. thanks.
I'm using latest xiaomi.eu rom
Sorry for the late reply, I'm using 8.1.3.0 Global, always kept my phone up to date, no issues so far.
Also tested with my in car Pioneer MH380, a Logitech MiniBoom (UE), and a MPOW Bluetooth transmitter.
I've never had any issue with bluetooth whatsoever, maybe a clean install could help.
Hi, anybody having their sounds lagging every 10-30 seconds? I'm streaming via bluetooth to my car head unit and the sound keeps disappearing about a second and it's pretty annoying. and only this phone having this trouble. Update/clean install doesn't help. I'm using global dev.

Troubles with bluetooth speaker

Hi
I have a bluetooth speaker wich I can not make it the sound arrive. My Mi4 is running LineageOs (7.1.2), it connects successfully to the speaker, but the sound does not play...
The icon of the bluetooth is different from the "normal" one and when I see the notifications space, appears the player (in this case Spotify) as it was casting to the player, but again, no sound. When I disconnect the bluetooth, the speaker makes a sound (blink), telling that it's disconnected.
I have read about this problem elsewere, so I think it's not just me who have it.
Any ideas or help would be very appreciated.
Kind regards.
Hi.
After some time, I found out that this is a common problem in custom roms based on aosp android. It's widelly commented in the lineage forums. No solution right now.
Just for all you to know.
Regards.

HTC U11 Bluetooth Audio Quality Issue on Android 8.0

Hi, last week I installed the OTA Android 8.0 update on my HTC U11.
Since this update the audio quality when streaming to my car's audio system or to my pioneer hi-fi system at home is a lot worse than on Android Nougat. Especially on tracks with a lot of high tunes. There's always a slight 'clink' noise. I don't know how to explain this in English..
Have you noticed this issue as well? Is there something I can do about it? Thanks
question are you using any sound mods?

Same for me. Since this update, the quality of phone call when connected to Bluetooth to my car is really bad. No problem with music stream connected to the same car.
I tried managing the new bluetooth options in developper mode menu but it doesn't solve the problem.
The codec used is all the time SBC even is I change it to AAC or aptX or AptxHD.

I have the same issue, it seems it was fixed in 42 version for US market(at least for LDAC)
I have 2 issues with Bluetooth connections with the car. The first is that it picks up interference from the noise of the wheels and engine while driving, and the sound quality suffers and it sounds unclear, unless I mute the vehicle.
The second is that it has a lot of trouble connecting to the car at times. Or, more often, it would not connect the media through the car. Don't know what's up with that.
I know how you feel
I've got exact same problem like yours. Although I'm using HTC u11 plus. My new pair of Bluetooth headphones have the same not OK audio quality. You're right especially the high tunes. I'm desperate, trying to reset everything, but doesn't help. If you find the solution, please let me know. Thank you.

Same issue here. I have the U11 as well and just updated to Oreo and I have the same issue as well. Music over BT was ok on Nougat but after the update, music sounds as if there is digital clipping. And it's there with both my headset and car audio system.
Got the same issue, hope they fix it soon. The only solution seems to do a RUU right now.
Btw. I am on a custom rom (LeeDroid), gonna go full stock and try again.
I would suggest looking in developer options and trying some of the different options for bluetooth in there!
Settings > about > software information > more > then tap the build number till it says you are a developer.
Then
Go to developer options and check under networking, there are some settings to toggle in there.
You may find something you are looking for! I personally haven't tried bt since the update so I don't know if it is a common issue. Good luck!
Thank you!
Thank you very much.
Playing around with the bluetooth options in the developer's menu solved this issue.
The audio quality through bluetooth is now pretty much the same as it was with the previous android os

Share what settings you stuck with so it may help the other people with the same problem
Hey there!
Same problem for me since updating my U11 to Oreo - very poor bluetooth audio quality...
I tried using different bluetooth settings under the developer options but the thing is: no matter what I choose, it keeps switching back to the default values not affecting anything at all.
If it switch back to default SBC it means your headset/BT device doesn't support other codec.

That's not necessarily true. On 7.1 both Bluetooth devices which I use can support either AAC, SBC and aptX. My understanding is this issue occured because of the removal of AVRCP 1.3. I think Google added 1.3 back to Android 8.q because of this.

Yours is not necessarily true either. I'm on 8.0 and I can still use aptX if I want but only if my BT device supports aptX.

I'm not arguing that aptX and other codecs aren't working on 8.0. What I'm saying is that with certain devices, we are no longer seem to be able to use certain codecs that we could use prior. It's obviously device dependent, but to say their isn't a problem and blame it on the Bluetooth device is incorrect. Infact the same problem has occurred on non HTC devices when they've upgraded to 8.0 such as the OnePlus.

Fair enough, I didn't understand.
Does anyone know how to make the bluetooth options under developer options stick? I'm on stock unlocked Oreo, and they go back to defaults as soon as I change them. I've tried changing them whilst connected in the car, but no change. The only thing that could make a difference is that I'm running Pitch Black Substratum theme. Anyone else got them to stick?
In my Audi a3 2015 before oreo i can able to skip the track with entertainment commad and in the display i saw name of the track. After update i have lost all funtionality and the car see my device only like esternal suorce . Can i do something?

New PX6 Headunit: DSP or no DSP?

Hi there. After two years on a PX5 it's time to get a new HU with a PX6 chipset. My PX5 was without a DSP but the sound was really good after updating the MCU to 3.x.
So I'm looking for this kind of device
https://www.ebay.de/itm/392478816533
This one again has no built in DSP but the price is good. A PX6 with DSP (Dasaita e. g.) is about 100 bucks higher than this. But is it worth the difference?
It's gonna ne installed on a Golf MK6 with Dynaudio.
Thanks
i bought a Xtrons PX5 without DSP module and then bought the DSP chip (my board support to add this chip) and there is a big difference with audio!
Another option is to buy a unit and install the Hal9K ROM on it (it's very easy to do, 5 minute job). It comes pre-packaged with Viper4Android (an android DSP app), which will give 95% of the inbuilt DSP functionality, plus a lot more. Hal9k is free but you need to pay a one-off fee of 10 Euro for ongoing updates. Works out a lot cheaper than the premium for a DSP unit.
I have a Dasaita with DSP, but I don't use any of the DSP functionality, I do everything in Viper instead, and to my ears, it sounds fantastic. But as a disclaimer, I have never compared a unit with DSP to one without, so I have no idea on any quantifiable differences there may be
Then u dont have a advanced car speakers/amplifiers setup. When u have amps and speakers (not factory stuff) u really NEED DSP because of the fact that u need crossover points, gaining, etc for every single speaker/rca output. All fun and stuff viper this and that. But ViperFX app cannot do this, cannot create individual channels all of the sudden. This is something that needs to be hardware built in.
Im waiting on my 2nd android headunit now in 2 month. Because i ordered one (with dsp), turns out it only has some fake ass 13band eq and a front rear shifter, no sub volume/gain control, no filtering. Besides missing allot of audio settings it sounded also like utter sh#t. The voltage out of the RCA are also way to low. So i turned it back.
Now waiting on the one with Dedicated hardware DSP. So i have individual channel audio control, real 32band eq, Filter Cutoff settings per channel (low pass, high pass). My guess is that this unit would work extremely well for my purpose and audio setup (1x 2channel amp front, 1x 2channel amp rear deck, 1x monoblock subwoofers).
Honestly i dont really get it how they cannot include subwoofer volume and hz filtering on a Android Headunit. Those are like basic audio settings in like every 1 din car radio.

Which unit have you ordered that has all of the DSP features that you describe? And if you have such an "advanced" setup, why wouldn't you use an external DSP unit for complete control?
