I bought this phone from my friend a week ago. He has been using it for 1 and half year, and he said has no problem with this phone.
Recently I found out there is a bug (maybe) that annoys me everyday.
The gallery is often acting up, not showing the images that I just downloaded. Or, when I save image from VSCO, it is not showing in the gallery. When that happen usually I have to restart the phone to make them show in the gallery.
Ive tried to clear cache the gallery but not working. A restart is a must.
Other gallery/storage related problem that I experienced also causing Whatsap and Instagram. Whatsapp showing blank gallery when I want to share photo. And Instsgram also showing blank preview when I already choose the photo. Sometimes the Instagram is just hang.
Oxygen OS 10.3.1
I hope it's software bug, not hardware problem.
Can anyone help me to clear out this problem?
Thanks in advance!
Doesn't seem to be a software problem. Did you do a factory reset after you got the phone?
Edit: Doesn't seem to be a hardware problem. Ma bad
@MysteryE: before factory reset, clear storage of com.android.providers.media. Then reboot.

No, my friend did.

And how do I do that?
@MysteryE: system settings >apps >show all apps >show also system apps (context menu right above)
search the app in the list and clear its cache and data.

Not found.
There is no "com.android.provider.media"
The nearest match is "com.android.provider.partnerbookmarks"
If I search for "media", the result only one: "Media Storage"
@MysteryE: media storage is fine. I named the AOSP one.

Alright will clear cache and storage and then factory reset. Hope it will clear out my problem *fingercrossed*
Thanks!
@MysteryE: sorry, I said it vaguely. FactoryReset only, when clearing cache&data of the app doesn't work.

Go to settings-applications-all applications-picasa
Clear out the cache and defaults. Wait about 2 mins then open up the gallery. This may take some time because you just cleared your cache.
Hi there, thank you for the reply. I've followed your instructions but its saying cache is 0.00b and does not allow me to clear cache (the icon is not lit) and also the "clear defaults" icon is not lit the only options i'm given on that page are "clear data or move to sd card"

You can clear the data as well if that is lit and you are able to clear it. It just 'resets' the app. So bottom line it's ok to clear the data if you can. And if that doesn't work you can just factory reset the phone. But I don't think it's worth doing unless you can restore your apps and settings from a backup. And if you decide you do not want to do a factory reset (I don't blame you if you do not lol), then try alternative apps like gallery3d and picasa tool which are normally found in the market. Not sure if they show up on the non-us market, but you can search for the apk's here.
I think i'm just gona except the new phone the shop are offering me!! at least if i see the problem again on the new phone i'll have a fix but i just think my phone is a bit buggy....few other issues with screen non response too. thanks again for your help.
Does anyone else have issues with selecting stuff while in apps. Like when another app menu pops up, you can't select it?
Example: I've had issues when I open up an app and then trying to authorize Dropbox for it. Dropbox then opens up inside the original app, but I can't select anything. It's like the touch just stopped working. The only way to get out of it is pressing back.
Another more recent one is in the app TabbedOut, when I go to select Google Wallet as my form of payment, I can't change the card or select Accept.
Here's a video of what I mean:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyRvHXntAFA&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Does anyone else have this issue and know a fix? It's quite annoying.
Thanks.
No one else is having this issue? Or have any ideas on what I could do to fix this?

Do the power and volume buttons still work when the screen stops responding?
Yes and yes.
When the screen is off, and you press the power button, does the screen come on immediately as usual, or is there a delay?
Comes on immediately. Everything is working perfectly fine. It's just I can't select anything on the "pop-up" menu that shows up. Even the back/home/recent apps "buttons" work on the screen.
I would try clearing cache and data in recovery. While you're there, might as well fix permissions.
Wipe data or format data?

It did this on another ROM I was running. Even after a full wipe it still does it on this ROM (stock 4.2.2).

Sorry, that's all I got.
Might be a bit late to the party here. Seems to be a dropbox app issue affecting lots of apps. Try installing the app from the dropbox.com site or uninstall dropbox and validate through the normal website authentication.
https://www.dropbox.com/android
Direct Link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6993309/Dropbox.apk
Once it's authenticated you should be fine reinstalling the play store version.
Hi everyone,
Eversince I updated my phone the GPS is not working, Google maps is not giving a location, but when I downloaded GPS toolbox it seems to have a fix. I tried wiping davkik cache but it didn't work.

What do you mean by clean install? Should just download the file and flash it?
Have the same issue, thinking of clean install but 300 apps installed is a lot of work. Looks like the Google location provider is not working (if that's the correct name)
Was having the same issue using HERE WeGo maps but was able to fix it. Settings > Apps & Notifications > See all (###) apps. Click the dots in upper right corner, Show system apps. Scroll down to Location Services, force stop then clear cache and storage for app. Reboot.
Worked perfectly for me after that. Seems it was holding onto old storage/cache data that didn't get wiped even after doing a stock recovery cache wipe. Can't guarantee that'll work for everyone, but worked for me.

It worked, thanks! (well it did not work immediately, then I went in preferences and unticked "Improve Location Accuracy", waited and ticked it again and it worked, not sure if it had any kind of impact)
So, actually it did not work, the location would only work if I toggled on/off "Improve Location Accuracy", so I decided to try again, but this time wiped all the system apps that contained "location"in their names, will keep you posted

Any news? I have the same problem. Maps and Life360 do not show position. Every other app using GPS work fine. I would like to wipe cache and dalvik but in TWRP, when trying this Function, I receive AN error so it is not possible.

Can you suggest me a technique for backup and restore for a fastest wipe data?
Hey lads, I know I'm late to the party but I seem to have found something that fixed my Life360 issues.
1. Go to settings => Apps & Notifications and tap "see all apps"
2. Tap the 3 dots in the corner and tap "Show system"
Find "LocationServices" in the list, force stop, clear cache, clear data
4. Go back and find Life360 in the list, open the "advanced" drop-down menu, go to "battery optimization" and select "don't optimize" (this step may not be necessary)
5. Tap "storage and cache", and clear both the cache and storage
6. Reboot
7. Test to see if Life360 can see your location now
I know I'm I bit late and a lot of people wiped their phones to fix this, so I hope this info can help someone in the future!
I think I managed to find a workaround which doesn't involve a factory reset for the same issue on my OnePlus 6T:
Settings -> System -> Reset options -> Reset app preferences (this doesn't affect apps data)
Settings -> Apps & notifications -> See all XXX apps -> (3 dots in the upper right corner) -> Show system -> Clear storage and cache of the following apps:
Google Maps
Google Play services
Google Services Framework
LocationServices
Phone Services
Fused Location
Google Location History
OPMmsLocation
I wiped Dalvik cache in TWRP.
I'm not sure all steps are necessary but resetting apps preferences is the key one I think. It's going to reset the permissions of all apps but it's a good alternative to reinstall everything from scratch. The issue of the GPS fix in Google Maps hasn't come back for me since.

So I had been having the same issues on 6T, then 7. Did this yesterday but haven't yet been able to test it fully although I feel this may have resolved the issue considering the speed at which the GPS / Compass is connecting on Maps. Once I travel today it will just confirm that theory. If it fixes the issue, lots of prayers and wishes your way sir!
PS. Did you ever face the issue again after the fix?

Adding here, I had already tried dumping the cache, storage and Dalvik prior to this which didn't resolve the issue.. Only temporarily. That makes me believe if this is the solution, the most important step being "Reset app preferences" and it does make sense too because Android 9 vs 10, permissions was one of the big changes brought in.

Ok, this solution is legit. Seems to be working seamlessly so far. Haven't experienced this consistency with Maps ever since A10. Thank you!!
Hi,
starting today, my phone (unrooted and unmodded, Android 11, Oxygen OS 11.0.9.1.GM21BA) freezes every time I open the camera. Doesn't matter if I open it directly or through Snapchat.
The phone freezes completely and I have to restart by holding down the power button.
I already deleted memory and cache of the camera and also turned off battery optimisation. But to no avail.
Does anybody have an idea how this can be fixed?
You haven't tried a factory reset.
No, because that would be a pain in the ass. I have over 100gb on the phone. I wanted to know if there is anything else I can try before that.

Of course, you can clean the system and remove the corpse with the amazing SD Maid.
SD Maid - System Cleaning Tool - Apps on Google Play
A maid for your Android, to keep it clean & tidy.

That can happen if you have "sensors off" active

thx but that wasnt it either. Sensors were on
Will try factory reset now
Unfortunatly the problem persists after factory reset. Seems to be a hardware issue.
Just like it says. I am having a issues with some apps not saving after I set them. It happens when I shut the app down or reboot and I find that the phone is not doing what I set for the app. I open the app to check the settings and it has all been erased like new. If I keep the app open it runs all the settings correctly and saves them but as soon as I close the app or reboot it some of those apps default like it is a brand new app. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Man I hope someone can help us out with a lil insight. Thanks for the reply. I thought I might have screwed up a few things while setting up this new phone. I am on the latest build stable.
is it the permissions being cleared because its being "Paused". under the app's app info page there is a toggle Unused app settings--> Pause app activity if unused. make sure this is off.

No that doesn't appear to be that either. I checked all the apps that seem to be having this problem. Unfortunately that isn't it either. Thank you for the suggestion! IDK if a reflash without wiping would help?
I have never seen this or experienced it. Have you done "something" different? Tried to root, or install a ROM, or...???? If it keeps happening EVEN to native/default/system apps then I would recommend a factory reset with a low level cache wipe...if it can be done on this phone.

I would go for the reflash, and in the end, go for a clean flash.
I didn't experience this problem, but I did have an issue where every time I set a conversation as a priority, the second I left that screen, it reset back to default. I don't have the issue now, but I've also reflashed since then.
I have fixed it by wiping the affected apps data and then uninstalling them and readding the settings. Thanks guys!
