Stock S7, lack internal space - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi there,
I am using a samsung S7 since almost two years now, stock android. I am still super happy with it, except i see 32 GB internal memory, and it's almost full. Of course i could always remove some apps and docs, but here's the catch : i don't have that many apps, and all my personal files are in my 128 GB SD card.
I used to install modded Roms on my previous devices; that is how i heard of XDA forum, and i know there are skilled people around here I had the same issue with stock galaxy S5, and when moving it to Ressurection remix (which is a super Rom for that device), I noticed that i got back most of my internal memory. So my guess is that space is used by some backup when upgrading (which i did, from Marshmallow to Oreo, one at the time).
Either that assumption is correct or not, do you have any suggestion to get that space bac ? Else that the obvious moving to some Mod Rom ? Not that i don't like the idea, but as everything is set and working well for me now, i'd like to keep it that way. Just freeing that grey space.
Thanks for reading me, and for your comments !

[Q] [Apps2SD][Apps to SD][GB 2.3.4][EP1F] How to force phone apps to SD card?

I just picked up a Droid Charge a few weeks ago. I am digging the phone, but i am a long-time user switching from a Droid X which had 16gb internal storage. It is a brutal culture shock to say the least. I am always checking out new games and apps and have a significant collection. In other words, i need the storage! Especially since there are many apps and games that do not support move-to-sd card feature. Running out of storage was something i never had to even think about until now. It's really the only major gripe i have with the phone, but it's a major gripe considering the Charge only has a measely 1GB of internal storage. Ug.
Out of habit, i move all the apps to my SD card when i can. "When I can..." is the problem. I never had to use an "apps2sd" app before, but i've seen some versions for Froyo in passing. Now that i actually have a severe need to move some apps to the SD card (e.g. Let's Golf 2 - a fairly large game), i was having trouble spotting an apps2SD app that might work on Gingerbread.
[Q] Does anyone have a version (or know of a version) of an Apps2SD app that works for Gingerbread 2.3.4 (EP1F)? I am desperate to move some of these stubborn apps. It's gotten frustrating enough to tempt me into thinking about going back to my X. It would be wonderful if someone could help point me in the right direction!
For what it's worth i am on the leaked TW stock rom with 2.3.4 (+CWM+Voodoo) found in v2 of "The Charge Kit."
Thanks!
I agree!!! I recently got a Droid Charge myself and have grown more and more frustrated with having to constantly move every single app, no matter the size, to the SD card. It really is a pain. Sooo, if anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it too!
Thanx for posting about this, TheShade!

You can "force" apps to SD with Titanium Backup. However, the ones that don't support APP2SD will not run until you move them back to internal memory.
Also, I think you would be wise to request this to be moved to General. Lot more traffic there.

Thanks kvswim! Appreciate the suggestion.
Just wanted to say thanks again kvswim, for the suggestions. I have had Titanium for a while now. Shamefully, i had not fully explored some of the batch options. Tho I am still hoping to find a gingerbread version of an apps2sd app which allows u to force the stubborn apps to the sd card, Titanium has some nice options that I hadn't noticed before.
I was able to use Titanium to force-move Lets Golf 2 and some other larger games to the sd card. I am also able to run all of these games and apps with no problems. Sweet! This freed up quite a bit of storage for now. I have an even greater respect and appreciation for Titanium now.
Thanks, again!

From EMMC to _InternalSD

so we all know the g2x's internal sd is a little complicated to use. but i cant let 8gb sit there unused. if the phone didnt have it, id probably buy a 32gb micro rather than 16. but anyway, MIUI mounts the internal as _InternalSD on the sdcard. which is perfect because music players find my music which is spread amongst both cards.
so how can i do that on hellfire sandwich? i tried editing the vold.fstab myself from mnt/emmc to mnt/sdcard/_InternalSD but it didnt work. help would be great!
side note:
was the g2x stock firmware a little different than normal gingerbread to accommodate the internal? i flashed weapong2x the day i opened it. because some apps like titanium backup allow me to navigate to emmc for backup location but others like playerpro dont care about emmc. so do stock firmware users just suffer?
First, don't mess with your vold.fstab unless you really know what your doing. Its a really easy way to brick your phone for a good few hours (or days if you dont know how to fix it)
mounting the internal on the external can cause some really nasty things to happen. Including wrong both sd cards as well as corrupting your /system and /data. There are correct ways to do it to avoid those problems, but it would involve hardcore modifications to alot of the cm7/cm9 rom and some of the scripts and kernel too.
Honestly, your best bet is to live with it. Eaglesblood ICS's developers are cooking something up to repurpose the internal for something more useful.
Even if you do get something working, theres a good chance something you do one day will break it and youll be up **** creek.
Also, the stock rom stack mounted the external on the internal, im not sure if any other modifications were made to make sure it played nice with android though.

well im just editing the path. googles little explanation at the top really helps
so miui did it the correct way? how did they do it? kernel and script changes like u said?
also, even if not working correctly, shouldnt it work? i just changed it from mnt/emmc to mnt/_InternalSD so if it listens to me. it should work -_-

because in cm7, there are a few spots where that is set, so changing the path in the volt.fstab is most likely getting overwritten by another part of the ROM.
and in cm9 based roms (like HFS) things are even more different, i wouldn't even know where to start here.
ive never run MIUI, but from what i understand, it does it backwards of the stock ROM, putting the internal on the external, which becomes a problem if you pop out the SD card, then the internal might get lost.
very bad things happen when an app expects a drive to be somewhere its not... sometimes resulting in corruption of entire partitions. (ive been here, not fun...)
i guess i could live with it. im trying to migrate all the stuff that apps require onto my sdcard and move all the stuff i usually browse to onto my internal
so music on external for the music app to find. then my movies on the eMMC, as i usually get there with file manager and then open with mx. i guess i could also move my APKs to internal? to even out the space.
i actually was considering a p925 (optimus 3d/thrill in usa) but it has no roms. id have to use stock im just really interested in the 3d scene
nevermind apparently thrill and o3d are interchangeable (when it comes to roms) and the o3d has a ****load of roms. so i guess im good. but im not even sure if im gonna switch. i just want to and might (its $150 on craigslist)

Deodex help...blah.. or something like that..

Hello!
Kinda new to the forums, didnt see any forum exactly for my phone.. and dodmt wamt to be ignored sooo here goes..
I have the Galaxy Exhibit 4g, flashed stock beta 1
Ive used countless of different roms.. But I just love the stock rom, althougj I live the.optimized memory I got on the roms.. id clear
ram and usually end up having 240 free ram!
But using stock I only get about 100..
The title is konda miss leading.. because I dont know if thatll fix my memory.. basicly what Im sayong is I want the optimized memory on stock.. of anyone could help.. id love you forever.<3
Android automatically manages the memory usage. The forced removal of apps running is often not raccomended (there is a risk of data loss).
Therefore, If you really want to lighten your ROM, you have to give up some apps (or service) that is memory-resident (to have a list, search in the forum).
Good luck!
Thank you so much!

[Q] New to rooting procedure and ROMs

Hello Gang!
Great site and a wealth of info, but as the title reads I am new to the entire process. I am expecting my new Studio 5.5 610a tomorrow and I the main thing I want to do is to be able to access more ram or have the option or the ability to force install apps on a Micro SD chip along with saving data as well. My question I guess is, Will gaining root accomplish this alone or do I need to flash a ROM? I was looking At the Cyanogen Rom. Anyone care to give their opinions or anything. All info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time guys.

i don't know if the Blu Studio 5.5 even has any custom roms, if your rooted you will be able to force apps to install on SDcard (Although some might not work such as widgets) as for ram increase i think the only way would be a partition swap which has to do with swapping Micro SDcard Storage for more RAM which doesn't even give you much more RAM and the life of the SDcard decreases faster (it should be only needed on Devices with incredibly low like the HTC T-mobile G1 with 192mb or the OG droid with 256mb)

Low maintenance ROM for SONY XPERIA C2305

Hi,
An acquaintance of mine has SONY XPERIA C2305 and ran in to problems with it only having 1 gb internal storage. That, coupled with bloatware means it constantly cries that it has no space for updates/new apps.
So I'm looking for a lightweight custom ROM for it, along with some minimalistic GApps to minimise space usage/move everything to SD. Few things to note though, while he's by no means a power user, it's important for it to be stable (cause I'm the one who will be pestered every time there's a slightest hiccup), preferably OTA updates (or something that will be stable enough to update once every 2-5 months) and dual sim has to work (I saw a few ROMs around here that mentioned that it's a problem) . Other than that, I don't really care if it's 4.4 or 5.0, as long as it works.
Any suggestions?
