You could now find Galaxy S7 edge running Android 7.0 on Geekbench listings.

Would Samsung be able to release the Nougat update before the end of this month?
Even if not, next month is a sure Nougat release month for our S7.

Eh, I wouldn't gold my breath for it, I wouldn't be surprised if it releases at the end of the year.

No OEM have EVER released it less than 3 months before Nexus and Samsung is not known for being faster either. When did we get Marsmallow on last years flagships? Q1/Q2.. March, right?

I really believe we could see way faster update this time around.
As the log article lays it out, some Samsung employee said the Note 7 Nougat update would come 2-3 months after its launch, and given that Galaxy S7 ad S7 Edge would get it before the Note 7, it should be due in October. And seeing them devices at Geekbench, I feel very positive.
This year, even a company like Huawei has a Nougat firmware leak for its P9, even before the Nougat OTA rolled out for Nexus devices. Google has definitely shared the Nougat code with major OEMs earlier than usual, I think.
HTC too has upped with game, promising updates for OneA9, OneM9 and HTC 10, before the end of this -- the special thing about the announcement being 'all carriers included' in the 31st December timeline.
So, I'm hoping Samsung is able enough!
What do you say?
I know Google has lately been both publicly and privately "shaming" and aggressively encouraging OEMs and carriers to speed up their update process. This relationship started with more timely security updates and from what I've read is translating over to faster system updates.
I believe unlocked versions will see 7.0 by mid October, and carrier versions by mid November.

Hahahahahaha LOL!!!!!!!!
Both the phones and android os have matured a lot these days; S7 edge with marshmallow on it is already near perfect; I myself don't get excited for the updates as often in the old days; have not even rooted this phone and Rom flashing is not something I'm doing a lot; so I prefer to wait for a polished nougat Rom instead of a rushed one.
Edit: For about ten years I've changed my phone every year as a power user, now for the first time I've been using this device for about five months and am quite happy about it; I'm not planning to change it until the end of twenty four months period if something with a big development does not come.

+1. Same story. It is perfect from every aspect from the previous flagships. No major flaws and nothing unusual about it.

LG put Lollipop and Marshmallow just days/ a few weeks after nexus on G3 and G4 last year/the year before. So it's possible but samsung won't do it cause they don't need to hurry. See what it did to the note 7 rushing it on the market just to be there a few weeks before apple...
I'm 100% sure that we'll see update in february, just like this year. It's Samsung after all, don't forget it.
Good hope it fixes the stupid android os drain. In back on the og firmware of my s7 edge APB5 as it gives best performance and battery life. Samsung better not f up android 7.0

Even if we get Nougat before the end of the year, it wouldn't surprise me if Samsung gave us 7.0 instead of the more timely 7.1 update.

I downloaded the iOS gear app for my iPhone a while ago. The article above suggests there's a new update to the watch itself which is rolling out now.
I saw that story too but still no update showing up in the app for the watch. I would like to see the performance improvements but I want to know when should we see the update and what version will we be on.
The update is for Europe and is the one the US received last month.

Yup. I always check Twitter to see if there are any official reports, because websites regularly put up clickbait stories like saw at the END of December, "Samsung announces ANOTHER new smartwatch!" (Referring to the Gear S3 of course)
This article confirms what TScott said:
http://www.express.co.uk/life-style...ung-gear-s3-frontier-update-firmware-features
"Samsung began rolling out the update, which provides a number of stability and performance improvements, last month in the United States, but users in the UK have had to wait until now to upgrade."

I can't believe Verizon is providing Nougat to a 2015 phone before a 2016 flagship phone. What's going on. At this rate the Android "O" version will be out before we get Nougat. http://www.androidauthority.com/vnougat-motorola-droid-turbo-2-752240/

I can believe it. I think Samsung and Verizon are having some disagreements or something. They just straight up left the beta, didn't get the gear S3 on time, and then of course there was the Note 7 fiasco.
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Yeah, there is definitely something going on. I think Verizon doesn't trust Samsung. I was chatting with a rep and she pretty much said that we how samsung has been, we are being extra cautious.
But it is absolutely pathetic that a 2015 phone gets it before a flagship phone from 2016. I wish there was a way for us to fight this. Guess the only thing is by going to different carriers.
This makes me sad.
Also Nougat for Verizon Moto Z Droid, long time ago.

In response to your question, please be informed that the security patches are released every 3/6/12 months depending on the update's version and the network potential threats.

how often are u getting updates - the UK models are poor at getting updates, my Mate 10 Pro is still on security for March 2018 and not received any updates since, my P20 Pro was only updated yesterday after being on April 2018 security, so I would guess they are probably correct based on when we are getting updates..

Don't be disheartened with android and updates, it's only certain manufacturers that don't update monthly or bi-monthly with Huawei being main culprit of where u never know when u going to get an update.

I have Mate 10 Pro and P20 Pro and won't be buying Huawei again. They say my 10 is on latest update with March Security update and unknown when next update will be.
They tried saying that security updates are regular but don't show in the section where it says security updates.. That is how bad they are.
But I will be back with Pixel (skipped the 2 XL due to all bad press over it) or the OnePlus by end of year

I tend to disagree, OnePlus were pretty sharp on updates but agree the security updates should be mandatory. Finding a delivery method to avoid phone company's interference is the key issue.

Hi, I just came from returning an unlocked US version of the lg g8 thinq which completely surprised me that the unlocked versions recieved absolutely 0 updates since april launch but carrier versions were on the latest monthly patch. Ive never had a zte before but the axon10pro checks all of my requirements so I was wondering what the update situation was like on the US version specifically. Would love to hear from you guys on your thoughts about this phone
I had a axon 7 that barely got updates so I'm interested in this as well.
From the 7 I went with the Asus 5z and then the Asus Zenfone 6 and both phones get updates every month or every 2 months.
I'm eyeing the axon 10 for my gf tho so I'm worried about it

I've had the phone since the US launch. It's received one update so far that fixed some bugs, and Android 10 is promised before the end of the calendar year.
The 7 updates came fairly quickly, until the U.S. gov't told ZTE to stop
just got the new update with december patch
Android 10 promised by the end of December.
Now it's 4 days past and no update.
Most the ZTE devices I had rarely got any updates , doubt this device will get Android 10.
