Hi, I just came from returning an unlocked US version of the lg g8 thinq which completely surprised me that the unlocked versions recieved absolutely 0 updates since april launch but carrier versions were on the latest monthly patch. Ive never had a zte before but the axon10pro checks all of my requirements so I was wondering what the update situation was like on the US version specifically. Would love to hear from you guys on your thoughts about this phone
I had a axon 7 that barely got updates so I'm interested in this as well.
From the 7 I went with the Asus 5z and then the Asus Zenfone 6 and both phones get updates every month or every 2 months.
I'm eyeing the axon 10 for my gf tho so I'm worried about it

I've had the phone since the US launch. It's received one update so far that fixed some bugs, and Android 10 is promised before the end of the calendar year.
The 7 updates came fairly quickly, until the U.S. gov't told ZTE to stop
just got the new update with december patch
Android 10 promised by the end of December.
Now it's 4 days past and no update.
Most the ZTE devices I had rarely got any updates , doubt this device will get Android 10.

And...you'd be WRONG. The 3rd Android 10 Beta just went out to testers a few days ago. Expect it to be pushed to Axon 10 Pro users very soon.

Should we grab nexus 5s or wait for the 6?

I'd pull the trigger and buy the 5. There is no better phone on the market right now, for me that is. The six won't release until the end of the year, if Google even makes a six. Let's say they do make a six and you want it, just sell the five on swappa and buy the six. The five won't depreciate that much being it's already cheap as hell.
Tldr- buy the 5
Galaxy Nexus- Released in November 2011
Nexus 4- Released in November 2012
Nexus 5- Released- Practically November 2013 (October 31)
Logically, this would say that assuming there is a next Nexus, it would be around November of this year. Which is 5 1/2 months away. However, there's more to it than that. Just because a Nexus device is released in November does not mean you can get your hands on one that month. Often times, unless you know when the link to buy the phone is going online and mash your refresh button, you are going to have to wait at least a month. So assume 6 1/2 to 7 months before you get your hands on the next one.
Besides, Nexus 5 will certainly get the next few major android updates and is still one of the most powerful android devices of all time. With no bloatware. Or encrypted $#@^%#$%$#% bootloaders (thanks so much, Samsung).
Just go ahead and get the Nexus 5 right now. You can rest assured that Google will still continue to update it with the latest Android versions as soon as they release, plus in over 2 years when Google drops support, the developer community will still continue to support the Nexus 5. I would say that it is the most futureproof phone compared to its competitors right now.
Go for the Nexus5...you can always upgrade later. Plus the wife will like seeing you with a Nexus5!
Get the 5. There'll always be a newer/shinier version on the horizon, I've had this phone since February and it's fantastic.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
We don't even know there will be another nexus for sure do we? Speculation was Tue nexus range is being dropped
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
If you want the phone get it. At this point we don't even know if Google is continuing the Nexus line in its current form, we don't know who is going to manufacture the next developer phone or what it's going to cost, or even when it's coming out. At this point it's all speculation. If you want a Nexus, get the N5.
I recently got nexus 5 and I like it a lot!! At first I was leaning toward HTC sense but I am glad I didn't made that choice.

On what basis are you saying that the next Nexus will come soon??
The next Nexus hasn't even been rumoured yet and there are many articles stating that Google might dump the Nexus line.
Even if there was a Nexus 6 (or whatever number is given), it will still take about 6 months for it to be released!

how often are u getting updates - the UK models are poor at getting updates, my Mate 10 Pro is still on security for March 2018 and not received any updates since, my P20 Pro was only updated yesterday after being on April 2018 security, so I would guess they are probably correct based on when we are getting updates..

Don't be disheartened with android and updates, it's only certain manufacturers that don't update monthly or bi-monthly with Huawei being main culprit of where u never know when u going to get an update.

I have Mate 10 Pro and P20 Pro and won't be buying Huawei again. They say my 10 is on latest update with March Security update and unknown when next update will be.
They tried saying that security updates are regular but don't show in the section where it says security updates.. That is how bad they are.
But I will be back with Pixel (skipped the 2 XL due to all bad press over it) or the OnePlus by end of year

Just chatted on HiCare they say 782 firmware 130 was released on 9th July and it may take up to a month to deliver to my device..... Pathetic
It was for the CLT-L29 C782 on Three UK and according to Huawei all their devices should have it by today.

I tend to disagree, OnePlus were pretty sharp on updates but agree the security updates should be mandatory. Finding a delivery method to avoid phone company's interference is the key issue.

Agree 100% Huawei can take there tablet and shove it as far as I see it.
Will be getting a pixel c or slate when I can justify it.
Hmm lol....well gonna pass on the "no more Huawei for me" train. I have found over the years most that say this never keep their word. I can show you the posts where M5 will NEVER get EMUI 9. And the post "no more Huawei for me". I've had almost all the name brand tablets over the years and the only one that STILL gets updates is one I could really careless about. Amazon
All I knew from the past, what I read about the M5 pro was, its on 8 and will never be updated. Some were people saying they talked to customer service. Yet when I asked them yesterday they said don't worry yours will get 9.1.1. And if 9 is Just coming out.. then 10 will be awhile. I do love Samsung but.. man as each day passes.. more AD's are being seen in programs than never before. As if my $800 was not enough. Its silly and just me I know but when just downloading a new theme I had to watch 14seconds.. things like that. And rooting on top of that was night mar. Unless you bought it out SIDE the USA (different chip set). I already know slow they are Huawei when it comes to updates.. I have p30 pro phone. And.. so.
At least many other OEMs that stop support for their tablets after the first major update, allow the bootloader to be unlocked. Thus I could use Custom ROMs to keep my tablet alive. With Huawei this isn't possible as well. So there's even one more bummer.

Don't forget Samsung explosive battery. It may come back with tab s7.
If anything, I've found Huawei better than most for updates. We've had a lot of discussion about the situation with Google and the US, at which point I changed to a Xiaomi phone, but still pleasantly surprised to get updates on my M5.
A colleague on the other hand, had hardly had any updates on his old Huawei handset, but still liked it enough to replace it with a P30 lite. So they're still doing something right.
You can thank that cretin trump. The M5 was android enterprise certified, with at least 2 major version updates, and 4+ years of support. That went out the window when Huawei got too god at making 5G hardware that US companies were left in the dust

The same happened to my previous Samsung Note Pro 12.2 tablet
I've just had M5 8 May security patch here in UK plus on build 9.1. For me I'm impressed with the updates.
On the other hand I have a M5 lite 8 and this is on January security patch.
Biggest problem with Android these fractured updates.

I had a major update to EMUI 9. I actually see on firmware finder that EMUI 10 is also out there. I'm not just sure if it has been approved for distribution. I also don't know if I want to test flashing it in case Huawei breaks root (again).
Now that Android 11 has been released today (9/8) for the Pixel series, what kind of timeline can we expect to see for OOS11 implementation from OnePlus for the OnePlus 7 Pro? Apparently the 8 series will get android R first but we are right behind them so I have fingers crossed for a swift release
according to the oneplus tables, the 7pro should receive android 11 no earlier than November / December

OB for OP7 Series will be only after Stable release on OP8 Series. And Stable release will be not Earlier December. But as for me, I prefer OOS 10 over OOS 11.
Can you imagine paying 800€ for a flagship only to be treated like a second class citizen only one year later? Yeah, screw OnePlus never buying anything by these crooks ever again.

I am going to hazard a guess and say probably the end of the year or beginning of next. I've been rocking stable oos for the last 8 months myself and haven't even test driven 11. It's kinda hard to believe that I'm the same person who used to crack-flash anything remotely interesting and even when i loved a Rom i couldn't stay on it for more than two weeks because I felt like i was missing something. This phone has been so glitch free me on 10 that i didn't realize 11 was here.
What's the deal with Android R, is it any good?

My point exactly. I was being sarcastic.
Just waiting AOSP 11 ROMs... OOS11 sadly are not a nice option. I don't want to transform my OP device in a Samsung looks like device.
Thankfully with unlocked bootloaders, we can install custom ROMs and maintain the stock Android look. OxygenOS 11 looks like a less refined One UI skin and a disappointment for those who bought a OnePlus device for a near stock experience. Still I know a stock rom will help with kernels and overall stability.

Hi guys. Looking for kind support on this please .
I have it, I use for camera. I have gone away from relying on google apps, found alternative. Only thing I hate is lack of updates and customization since I came from owning a S9+ for couple of years.
Battery is very good, I recommend. 7.5 outta 10, if there was more internal UI customization and quicker updates I would go for 9 outta 10.
Also. The price was very good, saved like $500 compared to new Samsung fan edition.

Amazing , one more stupid question if we compare redmi k40 with mate 30 pro and oneplus 8T what will be your choice ?
MY 2 cents here.. I wanted to get the Mate 30 pro so bad recently as a secondary phone, but the lack of google services, the difficiculty for sideloading some apps, reminded me of my times with the Blackberry Z10. I would choose something "more compatible" so to say, and wait until they announce google services can be in place again.
I just bought one. The price was the main reason. 400 euros for a absolutely new one with 2 years warranty . My main phone is Z fold 2 but here on first view the screen is crystal clear. Just beautiful. And I have used half a year an P40 pro without GMS. So this is not so bad for me. And the camera is also so so much more better. I thinking now to sell the Samsung one.
