Android 4.2.2 Security settings "Allow unknow sources" missing on 2016 Honda Civic

Android 4.2.2 Security settings "Allow unknow sources" missing on 2016 Honda Civic
Hi,
I have a 2016 Honda Civic LX (US/Canadian model) with Android 4.2.2.
I successfully enabled the Developer Mode with this methods:
- Go to HOME > Settings > System > Detail information.
- In the Android Settings window, click About.
- Click the Build Number seven times exactly.
- Now you will see the Please enter a passcord prompt.
- Click the top 4 items in order 1, 4, 2, 3 and you should unlock the developer mode.
Click to collapse
But, even with the developer mode activated, I didn't find the setting to allow unknown sources.
So I'm still unable to install .APK files, such as: Honda Permission, Waze, etc.
Can someone help me to figure how I can enable this setting and install .APK files ?
Thanks in advance,
Marc

Yes, unfortunately.
Hovewer, @bowlandspoon and @other members of 4pda (sorry but the credits go there) have make it universally available.
This means, that it will work practically with ANY region.
Please add to the cap!
Switch to pure android 9.0 for Huawei p20 pro!
Instructions checked and translated by me from XDA to a sleepless night =)
( Unlocked bootloader is required, you perform all actions at your own peril and risk, make backups )
And so, let's go:
#
Step-by-Step Actions
1 - We will need to download:
#
- 7-ZIP v18.5 - Here (1MB)
- AndroidPlatformTools-P20Pro.zip - Here (30MB)
- RemoveEncryption-P20Pro.zip - Here (1MB)
- FirstEver-Android-9.0-charlotte-20181026.rar - Here (1.94 GB)
2 - We install a native, clean firmware (This is not in the instructions, but I learned by experiment what to do better)
#
- Turn off the phone when the menu appears, where you need to press the power button or hold the volume up, hold down the sound key up.
- And if you have the original firmware, do "Factory Reset" and proceed to the next step.
- If not, then select the section "Download latest version and recovery", where we press the "Download and recovery" button, then connect to WiFi
and wait for the process to finish.
- When it's all over, make a "Factory Reset"
3 - We install TWRP sharpened for our needs:
#
- Extract the AndroidPlatformTools-P20Pro.zip archive, for example, on the C: \ drive.
- Open the command line and write: "CD C: \ APT-P20Pro " (Or your path to the files)
- Turn off the phone
- Hold the volume down, connect the cable and wait until the fastboot
is loaded - We write in the command line:
"fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp-3.2.1-0-charlotte-mod.img"
- So we have the installed TWRP for Android 9.0 on the phone
- Reboot the device via the command line, we write: "fastboot reboot "
4 - Disable encryption:
#
- Turn off the phone
- Hold the volume up and on, wait for the Recovery to load
- In TWRP, press the "Wipe" button, then "Format Data"
- Print: "yes" and press the blue button to apply
- Next, click on the house below, go to the "Reboot" "in it we select" Recovery "
- Again we boot into Recovery and connect the phone to the cable
- Copy the archive" RemoveEncryption-P20Pro.zip "into the phone memory
- In TWRP click the" Install "button
- Choose" / sdcard ", then our file" RemoveEncryption -P20Pro.zip "
- Swipe to the right to confirm the firmware and wait for the process to finish
- Again, click on the house below, go to the" Reboot "item in it, select eat "
- We print: "yes" and press the blue button to apply
- your "Data" section is no longer encrypted.
5 - Create a backup
#
- In TWRP, press the "Backup" button
- Put a daw on "Kernel" (if you want, you can choose everything else)
- Swipe to the right for confirmation and wait for the process to finish
- Next, wait for the house button to return to the TWRP main menu
6 - "Installation" pure Android 9.0
#
- Extract the archive "FirstEver-Android-9.0-charlotte-20181026.rar" to any location and copy the folder "FirstEver-Android-9.0-charlotte-20181026" to your
phone in the "\ Backup \ TWRP \ BACKUPS \ (Folder with literal name) \ "
- In TWRP confidently press the" Restore "button
- Choose" FirstEver-Android-9.0-charlotte-20181026 "
- And before starting the process - MANDATORY, remove the checkbox from" KERNEL "!!!
- Then swipe right and wait for the end of the process
- And finally click on the house, select the item "Reboot" and in it "System"
- Done! Enjoy Android 9.0 with a Pixel 3 camera!
P / s
The first time I write instructions, so do not scold much, if something is wrong.
And of course, which is also not unimportant, a couple of words:
#
About the performance of the firmware
What pleases, the workability is almost complete. Everything flies, just go.
And lo and behold, they even managed to get into the Pixel 3 camera, transfer the full port of the native Huawei camera, and all the modes from night to photo, such as water, should be present.
In general, I am very impressed and enjoy all the tactile sensations and freedoms of pure android.
But, of course, there is something that still doesn’t work, but only for the time being, it is:
- NFC
- Taking photos in RAW
- Double tap to start the phone
- And it seems that with a stereo sound you need to conjure a little.
Despite this, I personally am delighted and back to EMUI, I don’t want to. We will wait for the final fixes and full firmware. Those who
do not idle talk, instructions for help =)
I hope someone will come in handy, please yourself with something new and clean, before the new year! =)

Sorry to hear that..
Chinese firmwares in these days are far away better than global firmwares.
Just they have their bloatware apps, that can be uninstalled.
KangVip, Hrt Team, Hi-To are the most renowned developers between them.
So for the moment I could say that their roms are the best Stock Roms with customizations like K-Settings and others.
Again, I don"t speak about custom roms, just Stock Roms with modifications.
Here an example video Huawei P20 Pro KangVip - its a bit older, android 8 rom, but take a look. (At 2:08 are the K-Settings)

Hmm no disrespect intended, but considering how complete and utter crap Huawei FWs are for their non Nexus devices, as well as many of the other Chinese manufacturers non-sense Android skins, I would say that Chinese firmwares are among the worst on the planet.
This really seems to be an "Asian" thing though. The market in Korean and China are vastly different than in the "West". People like cute little bubbly things and lots of bings and bongs. So while the guys over there may expect and indeed love those types of skins, more than not, people here hate it.
BTW... I see almost no difference at all between stock EMUI and that link you sent.
The entire issue with these phones IS EMUI. It removes are breaks MANY of the best features and usability items in Android. It doesn't matter how you mod it, EMUI will always be crap. And yes... I do own and greatly dislike this phone because of EMUI. But.. 1st world problems and all that

What TWRP are they referring to ? Have you intalled it? Does it offer decryption if you don't allow PIN / Password? on PIE? I think this is probably the best thing that this process could offer.
IF it does then you could maybe share the TWRP as a "This is not my work" but here you go thread.
We sorely need it.

Teclast T30 [T1Px][Custom ROM][Android 9] -> hybrid ROM 1.04 / 1.05

I have prepared hybrid ROM 1.04 / 1.05 (Android 9) -> its suitable for T1P2, T1P3, T1P4 version of Teclast T30
Its based on official global ROM 1.04 and chinesse 1.05 ROM.
In the folder with firmware 1.05, I replaced the scatter file and system.img from firmware 1.04.
The result is:
Version 1.0: firmware 1.04 with Google Play store and 60 Hz screen frequency, MUCH better touch response, containing all languages.
Version 1.1: same as version 1.0 + Magisk (ROOT) pre-installed
Version 1.2a: same as version 1.0 + TWRP 3.3.1 pre-installed
The big advantage of this procedure is the standard easy installation of the firmware via Flashtool.
Download:
look to attachments
Installation 1.0:
- Unpack FlashTools, and Click on Flash_tool.exe
- Select "scatter-Loading" and search MT6771_Android_scatter.txt in ROM
- Wait file to be added into Flash Tool
- Select "Firmware upgrade"
- Turn off your tablet.
- Press “Download” button to start
- Connect your tablet into the computer via USB data cable.
- The process will start and a red progress bar will appear after color purple, yellow.
- And green circles display
- Finish !
- Reboot System
Installation1.1:
- Unpack FlashTools, and Click on Flash_tool.exe
- Select "scatter-Loading" and search MT6771_Android_scatter.txt in ROM
- Wait file to be added into Flash Tool
- Select "Firmware upgrade"
- Turn off your tablet.
- Press “Download” button to start
- Connect your tablet into the computer via USB data cable.
- The process will start and a red progress bar will appear after color purple, yellow.
- And green circles display
- Finish !
- Reboot System
- Install Magisk Manager v7.5.1 or Magisk Manager v8.0.3
Installation 1.2a:
- Unpack FlashTools, and Click on Flash_tool.exe
- Select "scatter-Loading" and search MT6771_Android_scatter.txt in ROM
- Wait file to be added into Flash Tool
- Select "Download only"
- Turn off your tablet.
- Press “Download” button to start
- Connect your tablet into the computer via USB data cable.
- The process will start and a red progress bar will appear after color purple, yellow.
- And green circles display
- Finish
- - Wait aprox. 20 seconds
- Do not start tablet by normal way!!!
- To go to TWRP start the tablet by pressing and holding the Power and Vol+ buttons simultaneously, until text menu on tablet will appears
- On the tablet screen, use Vol+ to select "Recovery Mode", confirm the selection with the Vol-
- To control the TWRP connect the mouse to the tablet, because touch do not work in TWRP
- Click Cancel when prompted for a password
- Click on Wipe / Format Data / Swipe to confirm
- On question enter "yes"
- Click Back (3 times) and click to Reboot / Recovery!!!
- Install "DisableForceEncryption_Treble.zip"
- Install Magisk 21.1
- Click Reboot System
- Install Magisk Manager v8.0.3
- To easy access to TWRP instal Recovery reboot application
Note. Unfortunately, the touch does not work in TWRP, so a mouse and USB adapter must be used
If someone has a problem with Flashtool, fails to burn ROM to tablet, try install drivers " MTK_USB_All_v1.0.8.zip"
- unzip archive
- run file "MTK_USB_All_v1.0.8.exe"
- it will create desktop folder "MTK Usb Driver v1.0.8"
- run file \MTK_Driver_ ext\DriverInstaller.exe
- it will install drivers
- restart PC
- done

Because XDA Admid removed my external download links I had to upload all files to attachments.
As a backup, all files are stored here also
to all T30 owners out there that suffer from touch-screen lag: rtb07 did a phenomenal job in creating this hybrid rom that fixes the issue. Installation is easy to do, just follow the above instructions.
I fixed my T1P2 EEA T30 using the 1.2a hybrid rom and could not be happier with the result. It is working like a charm now.
THX to rtb07!!!!
Welcome. Thank goodness I managed to correct that annoying touch mistake.
I would love to do installation 1.0 on my T1P2 but all the download links have been removed :/

Because the XDA administrator deleted my external links to the files, I had to upload everything to the first post.
So now is all OK.
Thanks for this. I preordered this tab at launch in late 2019 and hated the touch response and just overall laggy feel, so it's been sitting in a drawer for over a year. This firmware actually makes it nice and smooth, also extremely simple to flash.
Yes, in my ROM version the touch finally works fine. It is tragic that Teclast only fixed this in the Chinese version 1.05 ROM and did not release a corrected version of the EEA / Global ROM. When I wanted to work normally with the tablet, I had to make a corrected version of Global ROM 1.04.
It is a pity that the manufacturer does not release new updates.

I bought 3 Chinese tablets from different company’s & not one of them have been updated by the makers, but my 2 years old Samsung S9 South Korean phone still getting updates.
Its really is poor customer service when they can easy fix the problems, thankfully there people like you around to do there job for them!
Hi!
First of all, thanks for your great work. I have ghost touch in my Teclast T30 and I've been looking for a solution for weeks. Some days ago I found this post and installed the 1.0 version, that should fix my touch-screen issue. The installation was succesful, but still having the same problem. Ghost touch in the bottom side. ¿What can I do to fix this? I have the T1P2 version.
Thanks!
Hi, I don't know if anyone else is reporting a problem with a ghost touch on our tablet. I have not encountered this problem. They all reported only a problem with low touch sensitivity, which was solved by this hybrid ROM.
Maybe you could try peeling off the protective film. But I don't guarantee it will help.
Does physical keyboard work with hybrid rom?
Yes!
This hybrid ROM saved my T30. What a fantastic work Sir rbt07! The screen response is now super fast. After installing the version 1.0 I spent over a hour scrolling up and down just trying to believe in what I was seeing. It became a much better tablet now. Btw I got stucked in the 0% format during the flashing process and had to install the MTK drivers on my laptop. I only installed the last driver "we had three folders there" and then I could complete the installation. You should invoice Teclast to pay you for your work. Thanks a lot mate!

Yes it does work with the physical keyboard, I tested it myself
I'd like to thank you OP, this made my tablet actually able to play rhythm games to an acceptable degree. I didn't like to flash other ROMs because they all have a common issue: bluetooth connection. This ROM works flawlessly on my T1P3 by using it for 3 days.
Hybrid ROM is just a mix of two original ROMs, so it doesn't have many bugs.

[SOLVED] Thinking of upgrading my Galaxy Tab S T800 - double check help please

Hello all,
I am thinking of upgrading my T800 to android 7 or 8 and need to start somewhere.
The main reason so many apps are either v7 or 8 min recently and I still use this tablet surprisingly lol
I have read a few threads to help me but I keep seeing that old ones I need to be careful and some say ok and some say no - so I need help.
I checked this thread to start rooting my device:
[Root][Port] Cf-Autoroot T800 [Tab S 10.5 ]
CF-AUTO Root By Chainfire Ported To the Tab S 10.5 By:@BeansTown106 First off, Huge Thanks to Chainfire for coming up with AutoRoot & for his SuperSU App Warning: I cannot be held responsible...
forum.xda-developers.com
Now - with my research I need:
Odin 3.13.1 the latest
Download Cf-Autoroot T800 from the link above
load the file to AP Odin and install to tablet
Then do the same again with TWRP with the latest file I found called: twrp-3.5.0_9-0-chagallwifi.img.tar
Reboot and should be rooted with TWRP as far as I have read
Now - do these files still work and is it ok for me to use the above to start? Am I missing anything? I guess SuperUser gets install with the rooting?
I am on Android 6.0.1 currently.
Then I need to choose an Android 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 - but seems only 7 OFFICIAL I can see - would want as close to stock as possible and the most stable I guess - can anyone recommend which ROM to flash, please?
Thank you in advance
Ben
bumping an old question - I guess may be difficult to get an answer for such an old device.
if anyone can help pls reply or PM me.
you are planning to install custom rom right? most custom rom have built in root included just follow the custom rom installation and your pretty much good to go
LineageOS seems the most popular and active custom rom for your device
No you shouldnt use cf auto root as it might brick your device reportedly.
Use magisk v21 instead (again v22 is bricking devices).

Wow - thank you - glad I asked and was patient lol
SUCCESS Went through set up and seems working fine first impressions.
How I did it in 2021:
I have a Samsung Tab S - SM-T800 - on android 6.0.1 not rooted
1: These are the files that I have used
Odin3_v3.14.1
lineage-14.1-20210122-UNOFFICIAL-chagallwifi.zip
addonsu-14.1-arm-signed.zip
open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20210224.zip
twrp-3.5.0_9-0-chagallwifi.img.tar
2: I installed the Samsung USB drivers - and checked that I could transfer files to and from the PC - in this step I added the files into my external SD Card:
lineage-14.1-20210122-UNOFFICIAL-chagallwifi
addonsu-14.1-arm-signed
open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20210224
3: Once they were copied over - I unplugged the tablet and powered it off.
4: I opened ODIN on my win10 machine
5: I booted the tablet into download mode - by pressing the HOME-VOL:downOWER at the same time
6: I added the twrp-3.5.0_9-0-chagallwifi.img.tar file into the AP of Odin. Go to options, and deselect "auto-reboot"
7: Pressed START in Odin and waited for the Green PASS! to show.
8: Unplugged cable from the tablet
9: This is important -
You need to power off and power on back to the recovery you just flashed - if you miss this you may have to start again from the top here.
When done press HOME-VOL:downOWER for about 5 to 8 seconds - the screen will change and as soon as it changes let go and repress HOME-VOL:upOWER at the same time - the only change is the volume to UP. This will then boot to TWRP.
10: when TWRP first comes on - just swipe right
11: On the home screen of TWRP - I decided to make a backup - so I went to back up - and backed up to my SD Card. This takes a long time
12: when this was done - I went WIPE - and selected Format Data
13: when done go back and select INSTALL - here choose:
lineage-14.1-20210122-UNOFFICIAL-chagallwifi - then add zip and choose
addonsu-14.1-arm-signed - then add zip and choose
open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20210224
14: Start flashing. this is quite quick except for the Gapps.
15: When done - you will be asked to format cache and davlik partitions click it and when done - REBOOT
16: Wait a while, you should see the Samsung Logo - then the blue arc of LineageOS and go through the set up. The first boot can take 4 to 6 minutes - in my case, it was about 6 minutes.
17: Optional ROOT
Go to Settings > About Tablet > tap the build number seven times to enable developer options
Then go back and go to > Developer Options > Root Access. and choose what you want - I selected Apps Only.
I hope this helps anyone looking to do the same and wanted to say THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAS HELPED ME.
Done.

How downgrade lg software?
I´ve seen this in this spanish forum (https://forocoches.com/foro/showthread.php?t=8935750)
Translated to english:
IMPORTANT: Check the updates from the HOMEBREW CHANNEL itself.
If you have the TV connected to the internet...probably you have been updated to a non-vulnerable version. It is necessary to perform a downgrade.
2- DOWNGRADE - If your TV is not functional the link above.
With WebOS 1.x - 5.x
To do this, you download the firmware of your TV from this Telegram Group.
https://t.me/lgwebosusb
With the firmware loaded in a USB FAT32 we put it in the TV and go to this web.
https://webosapp.club/downgrade/ and it will install the firmware.
Quote:
WebOS 1.x - 5.x
1. Download the firmware file for your device to update via USB (attention! USB firmware file type is required, not nsu).
2. Format the USB flash drive to FAT32 file system, create LG_DTV folder, unzip the .epk file from the previously downloaded archive
3 Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port of the TV and open the webosapp.club/downgrade page in the TV browser; the software upgrade application will open. Click on upgrade.
With WebOS 6.0
1. Activate the developer mode on the TV according to the instructions.
2. In the TV browser, open webosapp.club/online and install the Expertmode Downgrade application , reboot the TV.
3. Follow steps 1 and 2 of the above instructions.
. Insert the USB flash drive into the USB connector of the TV and run the installed Expertmode Downgrade application, press start in the menu, the software upgrade application will start. Click upgrade.

Since 2014, LG TVs (and since 2017, Bang & Olufsen OLED TVs) have been running on the webOS operating system, which is the basis of all firmware for them. Officially online, you can only update to the latest firmware.
What kind of changes can I make to the TV software with the suggested way?
TV firmware is not final and unchangeable software and can be subjected to the following changes:
Upgrade - installing the firmware by upgrading to the current version;
Reinstall - re-installing the identical version of the firmware over the current one (sometimes helps in situations instead of resetting to factory settings);
Rollback (restore) the firmware (downgrade webOS) - installation of the old version of the firmware, which is officially no longer up to date on the server LG. Restoring the TV firmware is used when you need to correct errors in its operation, to lower the version of the firmware (to make a downgrade) or to install custom (not yet available) firmware.
On which TV models are firmware changes supported by the suggested way?
The suggested way works on most of LG TV models of 2012-2020 with network support. Required to rollback or to install the firmware files are grouped in appropriate subfolders in the folder "zagotovki", depending on the model of your TV.
On 2014-2016 TV models with the latest firmware from 2018 and later, the ability to rollback to past software versions was blocked, there is a solution (link at the end of this post).
On TV models of 2017-2020 year the possibility of rollback is blocked in the original (factory) firmware, at the moment on TV models of 2017-2018 year you can install only files of new software versions, which are designed to update online via the network (current software version number in TV must be less than the number of installed software version) using the offered method. On 2019-2020 TV models, installation of new online firmware is not yet available via rollback method. To avoid problems with rollback after automatic installation of new firmware online, you need to immediately disable the item Automatic update in the TV settings and in the future to update only to the verified software versions.

What are the options for the suggested method?
There are two options: local method (downloading firmware files from your computer) and online method (downloading firmware files online from LG update server).
How to correctly roll back (restore) a previous firmware version or install a new firmware version?
Download LgDTVUpDater_04_2022.zip archive file with the set of firmware rollback (updated on 02.04.2022).
Unzip the archive file contents to the root of C:\ drive, LgDTVUpDater folder should appear. If somebody needs to install (extract) archive content to the root of another drive (D:\, E:\, F:\) but not to the root of C:\, then after unpacking replace all the content ("LgDTVUpDater\apache\conf\httpd.conf") from the additional archive file httpd.zip from the folder (D, E, F) corresponding to the drive name with confirmation of data replacement from the already installed folder LgDTVUpDater. This replacement can also be used to unpack the contents of the archive to a flash drive, if there is no additional partition and there is only the system partition, then all the data should run from the flash drive. If you downloaded the previous version of the archive from here and configured the program, be sure to delete the old zagotovki folder from the installed LgDTVUpDater folder and copy the new zagotovki folder with the updated data from the new archive.
At the end of file "LgDTVUpDater\dns\AcrylicHosts.txt" manually change all addresses like 192.168.0.11 to the local IP address of your computer. The server names snu.lge.com, lgtvonline.lge.com, su.lge.com and su-ssl.lge.com to the right of the IP addresses should not be changed. If using the local method of downloading firmware from a PC, remove this # in front of the last three lines with the addresses lgtvonline.lge.com, su.lge.com and su-ssl.lge.com, otherwise default settings to download firmware over the network from the LG update server. Perform this manual data change only when manually running these two files (startDNS.bat and startHTTP.bat), ignore this instruction point when using start.bat or start_new.bat.
Note: For the IP address of your PC, see here: Control Panel - Network and Sharing Center - via Change Adapter Settings select your connection and right click on Status and then under Information find the line IPv4 Address. Or press the Win+R key combination on your keyboard, and in the window that opens type "cmd" (without the quotes) and press Enter. At the running Command Prompt, type: "ipconfig" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Next, find the line IPv4 address of your computer, consisting of a set of numbers in the format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (e.g. 192.168.1.2). This is the local IP address of your PC.
Now the most important, go to any folder "LgDTVUpDater\zagotovki\online\" or "LgDTVUpDater\zagotovki\local\" when setting for local PC software download method, and when setting for LG server software download method, only go to "LgDTVUpDater\zagotovki\online\" folder. Open the folder with your TV model, there are folders containing answer files for different versions of early and current firmware. The name of the folder shows the software version with country codes that you need to select. If the name has a _ at the end, it means this version was in test access at the date of creation. Select the answer file of the software version you need from the appropriate folder and copy it to the folder "LgDTVUpDater\htdocs\", agreeing to replace the original file if it was already there.
Note: When downloading the software file locally from your PC, copy the appropriate software file into "LgDTVUpDater\htdocs\" folder by downloading it from the appropriate forum threads or here. The size and name of the software file itself must correspond exactly to the data that is listed inside the contents of the corresponding answer file. Pay attention to the end of the firmware file you have downloaded. If there are signs like this before the extension (.epk) after SECURED at the end of the software file, this must be corrected to the corresponding [0] or other similar signs ([1], [2], [3]) that are written inside the contents of the answer file. In this case the software file will be downloaded to the TV from your PC and not from LG's update server.
Run manually startDNS.bat from the root of the LgDTVUpDater folder to load the DNS server and do not close the command line window (you can only minimize it). There will be several lines in this window, they will be added in the process of updating. Run manually startHTTP.bat from the root folder of LgDTVUpDater to load the web-server, also do not close this window (you can only minimize it), there must be only one short line in the window. With these actions you have manually started the applications on the PC to perform the firmware installation.
Note: Instead of starting these two files manually, you can run the file start.bat from the root of the folder LgDTVUpDater, and perform all the actions suggested there to enter the IP address and select the method in the dialog mode. You can also try another alternative variant of the DNS-server DualServer, confirming its start via start_new.bat and performing the same actions as for start.bat, the applications will be started automatically. If you have already started these files and there is no need to change the PC IP address in the settings file and select another method, you can skip all the actions at the beginning of the dialog indicating Y, then the two applications will be launched with the same data. When using the alternative DualServer DNS by starting_new.bat, you must manually set all network settings on the adapter (IP address, mask, gateway and DNS addresses) before running the application. This condition on the PC is also desirable to use a different DNS server. When running these files in dialog mode, skip the 3rd point of the manual data change to the local IP address of the PC.
In the TV set, which should be in one local network with the PC via a router, select the manual mode in the network settings and change only the data in the DNS field - to the local IP address of the PC where you run this set of applications (how to find the IP address of the PC is described above in p. 3). Next, confirm the network startup by executing Connect. If something in TV does not work with network settings, then try to disable firewall on PC or something that prevents TV to connect to network through PC and router, like blocking port 80, for example Antivirus, Skype on PC and all its processes must be closed.
Everything is ready, you can check the update on the TV by selecting the item in the appropriate TV settings to update the software and when the message that the desired version of your choice is available, run the update as usual, and watch there in the settings process of downloading the software file. Do not change the service country in the TV and leave it as it is, regardless of the software categories.
After updating return the TV network settings to the original DNS address or set it to automatic, then restart the TV to finish the update.
On the PC, close the two open windows (close running applications). That's it, the installation of the firmware is completed.
Note: In the root of folder LgDTVUpDater you will find a file with detailed instructions how to use this method on LG TV models of 2012-2020. Please read it carefully in case you have any problems with the software.
What is the difference of the local method of downloading software from a PC and the network method of downloading software from LG update server?
The local method of installing firmware over the network between your PC and TV without a router and without the internet
Then there is only one way left, which is to exclude the influence of the router with the settings from your ISP and the Internet itself on this whole process, and to connect the laptop (PC) and TV only with twisted pair network wire between each other to perform a pure local method of installing the software. The wire should be crimped as to connect two PCs, not as to connect through a router. Then you have to configure the network adapters on the laptop and on the TV manually. For example respectively on the laptop IP address - 192.168.1.2, the mask - 255.255.255.0, gateway - 192.168.1.3, DNS address - 192.168.1.2 and in the TV settings the IP address - 192. 168.1.3, the mask - 255.255.255.0, gateway - 192.168.1.2, DNS address - 192.168.1.2. Previously, do not forget to copy the file with the corresponding software version to the folder htdocs of the program and replace the file with this version from the folder zagotovki\local. Then on the laptop (PC) run start.bat or start_new.bat, successively answering (N, Y, Y, Enter), and on the TV in the network settings with the prescribed above data press connect. If the network access is successful (all 4 icons must be green), check the availability of the software version in the TV settings, if everything corresponds, then update. Note that the name of the software file must be exactly the same as in the answer file for the corresponding software version you have selected.

Alternate option of rollback firmware versions with rooted rights feature
A new easy method to roll back to an old version of the firmware for televisions with webOS 4.0-6.0 (for webOS 3.0 use the below method):
1) The first thing to do is to get a USB version of the old firmware for your TV using https://web.archive.org/. Copy this address into your browser "https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://www.lg.com/ru/support/product/lg-xxxxxx" (without the quotes). Then replace lg-xxxxxxx with the name from the official LG web site https://www.lg.com/ru/televisions (for example, for 49UM7490 it will be "https://www.lg.com/ru/televisions/lg-49UM7490PLC" and the address to get the old firmware will be "https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://www.lg.com/ru/support/product/lg-49UM7490PLC" - the last rooted version was on May 2nd at 09:38:57). Go to this address and download one of the previous firmware versions.
The alternative USB firmware repository for TV with webOS 4.0-6.0 on Telegram is https://t.me/lgwebosusb.
3) Unzip and copy your firmware onto FAT32 formatted flash drive to LG_DTV folder (for example E:\LG_DTV\starfish-dvb-secured-k5lp-539.gyeryongsan.k5lp-53904-05.00.15_prodkey_usb_V3_SECURED.epk),
4) Insert the flash drive into the TV, go to https://webosapp.club/downgrade through the TV browser.
5) The TV will load the firmware and prompt to reboot, after the reboot it will install the "new" firmware.
In the above case (for 49UM7490) it is version 05.00.15, which allows you to get root.
Good luck everyone. Write here about the results of using the new method!
Firmware rollback using special application (webOS 4+)
The method described here Rollback and Restore Previous Firmware Versions is primarily intended for use on webOS 4.x-6.x to return to a rooted software version.
On earlier versions (below 3.x) the method may not work, in particular at point 4 with a browser will not run the regular update application.
Made an application that runs the regular update application with the right parameter. It should be put in developer mode and run instead of the link in the browser in step 4 of the original instructions.
All other items are relevant. Application is downgrade.launch.app_1.0.0_all.ipk
