[SOLVED] Thinking of upgrading my Galaxy Tab S T800 - double check help please - General Questions and Answers

Hello all,
I am thinking of upgrading my T800 to android 7 or 8 and need to start somewhere.
The main reason so many apps are either v7 or 8 min recently and I still use this tablet surprisingly lol
I have read a few threads to help me but I keep seeing that old ones I need to be careful and some say ok and some say no - so I need help.
I checked this thread to start rooting my device:
[Root][Port] Cf-Autoroot T800 [Tab S 10.5 ]
CF-AUTO Root By Chainfire Ported To the Tab S 10.5 By:@BeansTown106 First off, Huge Thanks to Chainfire for coming up with AutoRoot & for his SuperSU App Warning: I cannot be held responsible...
forum.xda-developers.com
Now - with my research I need:
Odin 3.13.1 the latest
Download Cf-Autoroot T800 from the link above
load the file to AP Odin and install to tablet
Then do the same again with TWRP with the latest file I found called: twrp-3.5.0_9-0-chagallwifi.img.tar
Reboot and should be rooted with TWRP as far as I have read
Now - do these files still work and is it ok for me to use the above to start? Am I missing anything? I guess SuperUser gets install with the rooting?
I am on Android 6.0.1 currently.
Then I need to choose an Android 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 - but seems only 7 OFFICIAL I can see - would want as close to stock as possible and the most stable I guess - can anyone recommend which ROM to flash, please?
Thank you in advance
Ben

bumping an old question - I guess may be difficult to get an answer for such an old device.
if anyone can help pls reply or PM me.

you are planning to install custom rom right? most custom rom have built in root included just follow the custom rom installation and your pretty much good to go
LineageOS seems the most popular and active custom rom for your device

No you shouldnt use cf auto root as it might brick your device reportedly.
Use magisk v21 instead (again v22 is bricking devices).

Wow - thank you - glad I asked and was patient lol

SUCCESS Went through set up and seems working fine first impressions.
How I did it in 2021:
I have a Samsung Tab S - SM-T800 - on android 6.0.1 not rooted
1: These are the files that I have used
Odin3_v3.14.1
lineage-14.1-20210122-UNOFFICIAL-chagallwifi.zip
addonsu-14.1-arm-signed.zip
open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20210224.zip
twrp-3.5.0_9-0-chagallwifi.img.tar
2: I installed the Samsung USB drivers - and checked that I could transfer files to and from the PC - in this step I added the files into my external SD Card:
lineage-14.1-20210122-UNOFFICIAL-chagallwifi
addonsu-14.1-arm-signed
open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20210224
3: Once they were copied over - I unplugged the tablet and powered it off.
4: I opened ODIN on my win10 machine
5: I booted the tablet into download mode - by pressing the HOME-VOL:downOWER at the same time
6: I added the twrp-3.5.0_9-0-chagallwifi.img.tar file into the AP of Odin. Go to options, and deselect "auto-reboot"
7: Pressed START in Odin and waited for the Green PASS! to show.
8: Unplugged cable from the tablet
9: This is important -
You need to power off and power on back to the recovery you just flashed - if you miss this you may have to start again from the top here.
When done press HOME-VOL:downOWER for about 5 to 8 seconds - the screen will change and as soon as it changes let go and repress HOME-VOL:upOWER at the same time - the only change is the volume to UP. This will then boot to TWRP.
10: when TWRP first comes on - just swipe right
11: On the home screen of TWRP - I decided to make a backup - so I went to back up - and backed up to my SD Card. This takes a long time
12: when this was done - I went WIPE - and selected Format Data
13: when done go back and select INSTALL - here choose:
lineage-14.1-20210122-UNOFFICIAL-chagallwifi - then add zip and choose
addonsu-14.1-arm-signed - then add zip and choose
open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20210224
14: Start flashing. this is quite quick except for the Gapps.
15: When done - you will be asked to format cache and davlik partitions click it and when done - REBOOT
16: Wait a while, you should see the Samsung Logo - then the blue arc of LineageOS and go through the set up. The first boot can take 4 to 6 minutes - in my case, it was about 6 minutes.
17: Optional ROOT
Go to Settings > About Tablet > tap the build number seven times to enable developer options
Then go back and go to > Developer Options > Root Access. and choose what you want - I selected Apps Only.
I hope this helps anyone looking to do the same and wanted to say THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAS HELPED ME.
Done.

Hi, I'm thinking of doing the same (for security reasons since updates are no longer provided for Android v6).
What version of Android did you end up with?
And have you had any issues since your upgrade?
Thanks

And do you get ongoing automatic updates for android 7 or does that need you to go through the manual upgrade process again?

That is ok,
Once you are in Lineage - you will get updates as they release them - and just upgrade from the app - you will have to go to TWRP to upgrade after you download the update but it is an easy and quick process
ill try get some screen prints now for you

Rooting the ASUS Memo Pad HD 7 (ME173x)

Hi all,
yesterday I succeeded in rooting the new ASUS MeMo Pad HD 7.
Model-Number: ME173X
Android version: 4.2.1
Kernel version: 3.4.5
HD 7 Build: ME173X_WW_User_4.2.1.75146_20130523 release keys
PC operating system: Win.. XP
USB-Driver I used (but there's WdfCoInstaller.dll missing, which I already had on my PC):
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/ME172V/ASUS_Android_USB_drivers_for_Windows_20130415.zip
Maybe this more complete package would work, too (I didn't try that):
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/TF101/ASUS_Android_USB_drivers_for_Windows.zip
Method to root is by using motochopper.
You can follow the next steps in general as described in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40129120&postcount=1
One important thing:
motochopper didn't recognize my HD7 at once, so I did the following
(while being connected with PC via USB and motochopper waiting for device):
While USB debugging activated, go to USB settings an connect it as
integrated CD drive. motochopper will automatically recognize it
and continue with rooting process.
And last but not least:
As always, all you do is your own risk and I'm not responsible for any damage.
Good luck
-----------------------------
EDIT 2013-07-06:
Above procedure for rooting works with the new HD7 update, too (but you have to re-root after the update).
Build version after the update: ME173X_WW_user_4.2.2.51129_20130619 release-keys
-----------------------------
Description for Linux users:
- use motochopper package from link above
- login as root
- extract package
- open console and change to directory where you extracted the package
- chmod +x adb.linux
- chmod +x run.sh
- Check your HD7 will be recognized:
-> ./adb.linux status-window
-> shows "State: unknown"
-> connect HD7 (with usb debugging enabled, connecting as MTP device)
-> above started adb command should show now "State: device"
-> HD7 recognized - greatful, you're ready
-> press Strg-C to abort
- (optional) for more information about your HD7 you can enter: ./adb.linux devices -l
-> this should show something like: D6OKCXXXXXXX device usb:1-3 product:WW_memo model:ME173X device:ME173X
- ./run.sh
-> follow instructions on screen
- you're done
-----------------------------
EDIT 2013-07-16:
Above procedure for rooting works with new HD7 update (but you have to re-root after the update).
Build version after the update: ME173X_WW_user_4.2.2.91525_20130711 release-keys
Thank you very much! I had it attached as a camera, worked fine as well. ^^

Memo Pad HD7
Thanks...
Have been looking for Root ever since I got one Device on Friday.
Root seems to be working fine.
By the way - Saturn Germany got stock now as well (blue and white back) - bought 3 more today.
The MircoSD is taking 32GB straight from my Galaxy Note 10.1 - the resolution is really cool and no errors or problems.
I personally can do no more than highly recommend the Tablet.

Thanks for reporting that.
Do you mean that rooting is no more possible with 4.2.2 firmware?
Current version 4.2.1 is somewhat buggy. Launcher FC quite often. It would make sense to download 4.2.2 but it would be unusable for me without root

Well, I wouldn't say not possible. It's just that I couldn't manage to get it done de same way so far.
The 4.2.2 update is pretty neat. The tablet works more stable now. The home screen rotates and the display is much brighter.
Just some update features I discovered.
As of root I was hoping that someone would discover some different, more stable way - like CF-Autoroot on the Nexus 7.
I‘m a little busy at the moment.
Hope to have a look on 4.2.2 on weekend.

Does it show the Android version 4.2.2 in System information? Or is it still 4.2.1 (and it says ME173X_WW_user_4.2.2.51129_20130619 in build number)?
I have Android version 4.2.1 and build number mentioned above. And I got it rooted without any problems on Linux (the way it is described in OP).

Nothing special... The only trouble I had in the beginning was to get ADB responding properly. I have different versions of adb utilities on my PC. Other ones did not work, the one in motochopper package worked fine. I was using the original motochopper files. I had to use root rights (running script with sudo) to get it working. Might be that this is the showstopper for you
Full sequence should be something like this:
* Switch on developer mode (multiple clicks in about box on build number).
* Find developer options in the setup menu. Switch on USB debuging.
* Plug in the USB cable, try different USB modes (I think I made it using cd-rom mode, modes can be changed in storage settings under advanced "USB computer connection" menu from the top-right corner menu icon).
* Run the motochopper script with sudo.

Have you tried running adb.linux separately? Does it connect?
Run it first with "kill-server" argument and then "shell", for example.
If you get shell access then you should be able to root it. If not then there is something wrong in your pc setup or tab settings.
I assume it worked before you updated your HD7.
Hello everybody,
as promised I got some time to deal with the update.
In short, rooting with this update works, too (but you have to re-root after the update).
Build version after the update shows: ME173X_WW_user_4.2.2.51129_20130619 release-keys
I updated post #1 and put some additional information for linux users.

My Memo HD7 arrived yesterday an it is great ! (amazon.de / germany)
Rooting procedure worked on Win 7 without installing new drivers very easy.
To turn on Developer Mode to switch USB debugging Mode on:
Build Number:
ME173X_WW_user_4.2.1.75146_20130532
Open “Settings”.
Scroll to the bottom and tap “About phone” or “About tablet”.
At the “About” screen, scroll to the bottom and tap on “Build number” seven times.
You will see a “You are now a developer!” message pop up, then you know you have done it correctly.
Done!
You can now enable/disable it under “Settings” -> “Developer Options” -> “Debugging” ->” USB debugging”.
Then just run "run.bat" from motochopper (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40129120&postcount=1) and
follow the instructions.
Sorry for offtopic but any info what's new in this update 4.2.2? I'm from Bulgaria and don't have update yet. l'm still with first version ME173X_WW_User_4.2.1.75146_20130523.

Hello,
I have a question:

Recovery BootStrap (TWRP) - Motorola Defy\Bravo

Recovery BootStrap (TWRP) - Motorola Defy\Bravo
Version: 4.0
Install Recovery BootStrap (TWRP) for Motorola Defy\Bravo via a USB cable. For computers running the Windows\Linux (port version) operating system.
Download: (Windows: MEGA / Google Drive) | (Linux: port by nastys post>>)
Install Recovery BootStrap (TWRP) you can right out stock firmware (without custom recovery) with superuser.
Recovery BootStrap (TWRP) - for the recovery say thank Quarx, after installation, you can install the rom CyanogenMod from Quarx for December 2014 (but do not forget about resize.zip).
Can be installed on Defy (MB525), Defy Plus (MB526), Bravo (MB520).
Requirements for smartphone:
Enable USB debugging
Superuser (ROOT)
Free space on the memory card of 100 megabytes
Instructions:
1. Download the archive
2. Unpack it somewhere else with a short path, for example D:\andro
3. Connect your phone via USB cable ("debugging on USB" should be included)
4. Run the install_bootstrap.cmd
5. When you see the label "Let's Start? =)", press any key
6. If the superuser ask permission for full access "ADB Shell", allow.
7. After installing the smart phone will automatically restart
!IMPORTANT! after restarting the Stock firmware will not start!, but you will have BootStrap (TWRP) so you can safely install custom firmware\rom
Change log:
V3:
Changed how the script
Fixed installation errors recovery on Android 4.x and later
V4:
The script changed drastically
After installation removes trash from the memory card (so far only on Android 4.x and later)
Made for normal (mortals) users , before you start the installation script checks (by model) which smartphone connected to the computer, if your smartphone is not supported script report it and stop installation, if supported will give something "Device: MB525".
Serviceability checked on the Chinese 231 (Defy) firmware with superuser (what say thank borndead), and on the Asian 231 (Defy)
Questions\FAQ:
Error "[ERROR] Verify device!", what to do?
Error "[ERROR] Verify device!", it is may mean the following:
1. You have not enabled USB debugging
2. Your smartphone does not support this Recovery. (only for MB525, MB526, MB520)
3. You need to confirm the action ADB on your smartphone
4. Or you have some other connection problems
Stock transition to CyanogenMod 11 of Quarx
Stock transition to CyanogenMod 11 (firmware and find all necessary files can be here) of Quarx in short (generally as described on the website Quarx, only simpler and under Windows)
1. Install Recovery BootStrap (TWRP) via USB
2. Enter Recovery install resize.zip
3. Restart your smartphone
4. Install CyanogenMod 11 and GApps
Good work, comrade! I flashed CM11 on the Moto Defy - everything works!
We did observed some cases, where a "new life (resized)" Defy is not booting anymore. Only solution was to reflash SBF and start from scratch.
Does this mean, it is possible to recover TWRP from PC? That would be a step a head!
This is amazing! Everytime I needed to reflash the stock ROM I needed to install cm10, then cm11, then new bootsrap etc...
Unfortunately I don't use Windows...
@Octanium91 Would you mind if I port your script to GNU/Linux?

Maybe. If Iunderstand with GNU/Linux scripts
The new version, V4
The new version, V4
Changes:
The script changed drastically
After installation removes trash from the memory card (so far only on Android 4.x and higher)
More debugging: Now the script itself is not closed, and tells the user exactly what happened.
Sorry debris removal only works on Android 4.x and later.
Linux port done!
@Octanium91 I ported it to C++ (for Linux only at the moment). Please add it to the first post . Here is the link: MediaFire | MEGA
On Ubuntu just mount the ISO as image (not archive) then click 'Run' (or you can also extract the ISO and run the executable directly). It works on x86 (32 bit) and x86_64 (64 bit) CPUs. The source code is also included in the ISO. Tested on Ubuntu 14.10 and 16.04 (64 bit).
I tested it with both stock 2.3.6 rooted and CM11. It seems that the stock ROM won't boot after flashing the new bootstrap, but the recovery works fine
Also your version has a very bad bug: it flashes Defy bootstrap even on Bravo!!! It should flash Motorola Bravo specific bootstrap instead. My version only works for Motorola Defy and Defy+ at the moment, but you can edit the source code. EDIT: they are the same file with different names. I updated my version to support MB520.
After run the command script, when i boot in TWRP SDcard shows 0mb.
Already tried flashing the SBF recommended by quarx and after that the root SBF, but the result is always the same.
With CM recovery i can see the SDcard properly, but after the resize, or bootstrap, i always get 0mb at SDcard.
Any help?
Thanks!

Greetings guys, I'm a user from the Atrix 2 section and a part of the current device supporters there. It's a pleasure to finally post here, 'the domain of Quarx' haha.
I was wondering if this recovery is able to flash and boot android Lollipop 5.0 roms yet? If so, then is there some way to port it from source to my or other similar Moto devices in the OMAP bracket with locked bootloaders?
I'm an Android novice, but I'm experienced in building custom recoveries and roms, as well as beginner git commands, so no need to hold anything back, lol. I appreciate the work you're all doing here, please continue to make the difference. Thanks for reading this and take care!

Hi!
flash and boot android Lollipop 5.0 roms - just can not say, but it is theoretically possible (need to check).
If so, then is there some way to port it from source to my or other similar Moto device - No, this is not possible (specifically, in this case). BUT this method you can set recovery to another smartphone (it is theoretically, need to try)
Here recovery that are in the public domain, I think that they can install Lollipop 5.0 roms - TWRP2 \ Safestrap
Moto devices in the OMAP bracket with locked bootloaders? - Most likely will not work, but no one stops to try

Many thanks for the prompt and well ordered reply! I'll look into your suggestions and I'm aware that there aren't many available recovery software for our locked bootloader phones.
We were actually trying to get Safestrap working on our device since last month, but it's failing to work correctly in booting our kexec roms. So I thought I'd ask here since the Defy works by using the 2nd boot like us, but it's still under investigation. Thanks again for your assistance, we're not out of the game yet and we'll get things rolling eventually. Take care!

I had a successful installation of a december build and twrp 2,6x installed, everything ran just fine. But when the CM tells me there is a update and i download it does not install from recovery, get errormsg. Also apps like rom manager pro tells my phone is not compatible with any updates, and that i should install CWM recovery. So is it possible to install a real CWM on a defy mb526?
Hi, I flashed Recovery BootStrap v4 on the Defy MB525, but its not working. After flash and reboot, phone starts booting, but it ends up with the following screen.
Doesn't matter if I choose Recovery or continue. I can press the menu button (to choose recovery) and nothing happen, till the 3rd press. Than display goes black and thats all .
Any idea where could be the problem or what I'm doing wrong?
Edit: maybe its related to the bootloader version, which is 09.10

In principle it is possible, but it does not make sense.

Introduction
If you want to put root and TWRP on your device then you have to commit to this as there is no going back from Alcatel to Vodafone firmware after this unless someone uses the scatter file for this device to perform a readback (SP Flash Tool, search: Hovatek how to make a full backup of your stock ROM using sp flash tool, however, the dev blocks should be gathered straight from the scatter file, not MTK droid tools. Will update this if this happens it is successfully conducted by someone ) This little corner of XDA will show you how to:
Flash Alcatel Firmware
Install Custom Recovery (TWRP/CTR)
Root with SuperSU
Install one custom ROM (Cyanogen MOD 13)
NOTE: I will NOT teach you how to install drivers if you need to do that go to https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-440.html (If you are running Windows 7 and up you need to disable 'Driver Signature Verification', this link will show you how to do it: https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-752.html
If you can't figure out how to that by yourself (everything is a google search away) then you shouldn't even attempt any of this.
All files will be on AndroidFileHost
If you want to download all the files for all the tutorials, then you can download the complete package which has everything required for the tutorials (except for drivers of course)

I have questions......
Since Google keeps crashing me out of apps and breaking my brightness control to send me ads and try to get me to install experimental zombies this past month, I'm keen to try this on my VFD501 Vodafone Smart Turbo 7 but.....
Does the initial step have to be Alcatel? I only ask because my SIM is 2 Degrees and I don't know if it'll work with it as it's a bit sketchy while it's still thinking it's a Vodafone.
Is the second step the ONLY rom it'll work with? How far can the hardware be pushed or more efficient?
Lastly, would I still be able to get updates for the usual app suspects? I'm getting further into Minecraft now there's online server games and I'm not finding any options for updates other than through the Play Store. I also watch quite a bit of YouTube on it (another Google aquisition). Would these be denied me by the EvilCorp™ once I free my phone from it's clutches and get rid of Google Movies, Google Mail, Google other bloatware aside from Books where I have several and would like to keep reading them?
HIe, when can we get the custom rom.looks great.
Do you still have the mixed Spanish English rom?
Could you post that please if you still have it? When i installed the cyanogenmod after flashing to alcatel after locking the screen and turning it on again it won't render properly anymore, i just see random lines. Thank you in anticipation!
guys, please can anyone make a backup (TWRP)of stock ROM with /system /data /FRP /protect /boot ? with any google account please.
i want to unlock FRP on my vfd500, i gorgot my google account on this phone so i cant go pass setup wizzard, thanks

So far you have to flash Alcatel to do any modding whatsoever, however, I may have a solution so we can get root on VFD 500 running Vodafone stock but not VFD 501 (however I'm begging my friend to borrow his to do a Miracle Box Backup so fingers crossed :silly: so I can get the 501 version of the Vodafone OS) if the solution works I will release a video on it, if you want to know if you have to flash Alcatel for custom ROMs yes you need Alcatel for the ROMs there is currently no ROMs for this device, and I don't know how to make and edit ROMs just gonna put that out their
Not working for me. Format completed OK. but then error "S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (0xFC0)" given when doing the download and format. "MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM Port" stays even when phone is not plugged in and had yellow triangle

Solved now using this rom and instructions.
Can't post links so google - Download Vodafone Stock Rom for all models - Android MTK and look for VFD500 in the list
The driver tool uninstalled lots of drivers i think this may have helped it use the "MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM Port" which allowed it to write to the phone. Took about 10-15 mins to boot afterwards, I thought it was stuck but just a slow phone

Vodafone_Smart_Turbo_7_VFD500 - RR 7.1 ROM + TWRP 3.0.2 + SP Flash Tool + VFD500_ROM
Hi!
I get a Vodafone_Smart_Turbo_7_VFD500 phone bricked and was very dificult to find a working rom, there are a few that boot but after locking the phone screen goes mad...
I fixed a RR rom, still not perfect but is better.
One kwon issue is charging with phone off, screen stays white and on...
I Let here a link with:
SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1916_Win
SP_USB_Win7_Drivers ( Copy to Desktop and execute the shortcut)
Vodafone_Smart_Turbo_7_VFD500_MT6735M_V2.39.1_21122016_6.0 ROM to flash with SP Tool
open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20191029.zip
RR-N-v5.8.5-PIXI4_5_4G.zip (Fixed) Rom
TWRP3.0.2-0_VDF500.img Recovey (Use SP Tool with MT6735M_Android_scatter.txt from Vodafone ROM to flash it)
To use SP tool, first install the drivers then open SP tool, search for MT6735M_Android_scatter.txt file. To install full Vodafone ROM click in Download only and select Format All + Download then Download key above and plug USB, to install TWRP unselect all and only select recovery and click in location field, search for TWRP, click in download from above and plug USB ( If faild with error you need to flash all Vodafone ROM first).
After all this, use TWRP to flash RR Rom then Gapps.

Hello,
The stock G95xF_Stock_Kernel_CRB7.zip found there https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=746010030569956301 does'nt contain magisk nor twrp.
So you have to flash both stock G95xF_Stock_Kernel_CRB7.zip and magisk.
Please refer this topic https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-magisk/ to download magisk
Then you will have to install "magisk manager" and "official twrp app"

Also why are you installing Titanium Backup, what was intended for it?

If you are able to communicate with the device thru odin (the box COM should be blue with a random port number and you should see Added!!! or Removed!!! when you connect or disconnect your device) or backup your device thru smart switch, it's mean your driver are running fine.
Titanium Backup is able to perform a full backup on SDcard as there is a root access.
Smart Swich is not able to fully backed up (right access issue) the configurations for some applications. And it's forgot the SMS notification configuration, strange!!
Helium (without root access) is able to backed up few applications but said it's ok for some others even if it's failed. Don't properly work on SDcard, so you have to move the carbon directory from internal device to SDcard before flash or format any things.
Regarding installing magisk I understand … but would you recommend me to upgrade my bootloader and phone or use CRB7 and upgrade after. Which is a better option?
After rooting, how do we update with next version of the firmware without loosing root?
Probably flash the new firmware using Odin without restart and then flash the corresponding kernel version from the link above using TWRP?

I don't know the release date for the CRB7 but according to sammobile the latest version seems CRI5. I hope the previous number is not important. For my tested version, it's 3 and for this version it's 4.
I've checked the G95xF_Stock_Kernel_CRI5.zip is containing TWRP and magisk for S8 and S8+.
So my advise is to
- upgrade first to G950FXXU4CRI5 (download from sammobile ; from my point of view, the country is not an issuer) using odin without restore your data at end then
- apply the root process following this topic by flashing G95xF_Stock_Kernel_CRI5.zip instead of G95xF_Stock_Kernel_CRGH_v2.zip
- restore your data

Of cause you will lost the root access if you're upgrading your device except if you use some specific tools. This is because, the upgrade consist to put an image into a partition. I don't know if you're talking about automatic system update but on my side, it's off as I want to stay to my current stable version.
CRI5 gas got sama path for rooting
Can be rooted by using sama method

First of all the data partition is of no value ... yet..
This almost completes my question yet, my CRB7 is from Feb and you say upgrade to CRI5 which would in fact be a downgrade. This still begs the question as well,,, I guess I should have mentioned I want to run the latest bootloader and 8.1/9 roms with recent modem etc.
Should I CRI5 provide me any benefit lost by upgrading the bootloader?

I mean about an upgrade from CRB7 to CRI5 using an official released version. The CRI5 has been officially released on september 2018.
The ambasadii stock kernel seems to collaspe the boot partition (to avoid the stucking message) and the recovery partition (to install TWRP instead of the official recovery tool) and root the system.
So adventure is adventure, it should work to only flash the CRI5 bootloader, flash TWRP and then flash the ambasadii stock kernel. At end, you shoud be root and kept your CRB7 rom.
But keep in mind that at the format data step, you will lost all your personal configuration. So I'm clearly don't understand why you are trying to mix rom.
Where to get the CRI5 original bootloader?
I’m in catch 22, shall i root or wait for slow Mo and emoji’s updates? Man I’m on the exact firmware, that your guide is written for. Would there be any way to update once I’m rooted to slow Mo emoji firmware without breaking root? Sorry last time i rooted was Android 4.4.4 and Android 6.0.1.. Since them days, so much has changed Samsung really is making it harder to root there high end smartphones, i am rooting Galaxy Tab S4 10.5 but that feels so easy to root, as i don’t want to go through re-root backing up process etc. on the S8+?
So my question is shall i wait for the slow Mo update? And then root? Or shall i root and then apply slow Mo update? What’s the best course of action? Or what would you do? Thanks..

Please have a look on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Npc-PCutvvA CRI5 is compatible with slow Mo and emoji’s.
So, my advice is to download the official CRI5 version (on SamMobile firmware) then rooting using the root process following this topic by flashing G95xF_Stock_Kernel_CRI5.zip instead of G95xF_Stock_Kernel_CRGH_v2.zip and you will have slow MO and be able to install emoji's apps.

You have to download the fully ROM on SamMobile firmware (that's should be a good thing in case of recover process to have the fully rom on your side)

The country is not an issue except if you phone is locked to a network. That was the case in the past but now we brough phone from china and network operator from another way. So two ways: wait a couple of day the UK released version or download the south africa one as they are speacking british english too.
You're right about sammobile but I'm downloading and go to another activity... I've never tried updato.com, sammobile is more readable from my point of view.
Anyway to use this without sd card?

After the format data, reconnect the device and you will be able to see the internal storage with only the TWRP directory. (at the step 14. for this topic)
Copy/paste or drag/drop the G95xF_Stock_Kernel_CRGH_v2.zip at the root and you will be able to flash it.
Another way should be to connect an USB key thru the usb connector delivered with your S8.

Teclast T30 [T1Px][Custom ROM][Android 9] -> hybrid ROM 1.04 / 1.05

I have prepared hybrid ROM 1.04 / 1.05 (Android 9) -> its suitable for T1P2, T1P3, T1P4 version of Teclast T30
Its based on official global ROM 1.04 and chinesse 1.05 ROM.
In the folder with firmware 1.05, I replaced the scatter file and system.img from firmware 1.04.
The result is:
Version 1.0: firmware 1.04 with Google Play store and 60 Hz screen frequency, MUCH better touch response, containing all languages.
Version 1.1: same as version 1.0 + Magisk (ROOT) pre-installed
Version 1.2a: same as version 1.0 + TWRP 3.3.1 pre-installed
The big advantage of this procedure is the standard easy installation of the firmware via Flashtool.
Download:
look to attachments
Installation 1.0:
- Unpack FlashTools, and Click on Flash_tool.exe
- Select "scatter-Loading" and search MT6771_Android_scatter.txt in ROM
- Wait file to be added into Flash Tool
- Select "Firmware upgrade"
- Turn off your tablet.
- Press “Download” button to start
- Connect your tablet into the computer via USB data cable.
- The process will start and a red progress bar will appear after color purple, yellow.
- And green circles display
- Finish !
- Reboot System

- Turn off your tablet.
- Press “Download” button to start

- To go to TWRP start the tablet by pressing and holding the Power and Vol+ buttons simultaneously, until text menu on tablet will appears

- restart PC
- done
Edit 8. january 2021
Because XDA Admid removed my external download links I had to upload all files to attachments.
As a backup, all files are stored here also
to all T30 owners out there that suffer from touch-screen lag: rtb07 did a phenomenal job in creating this hybrid rom that fixes the issue. Installation is easy to do, just follow the above instructions.
I fixed my T1P2 EEA T30 using the 1.2a hybrid rom and could not be happier with the result. It is working like a charm now.
THX to rtb07!!!!
Welcome. Thank goodness I managed to correct that annoying touch mistake.
I would love to do installation 1.0 on my T1P2 but all the download links have been removed :/

Because the XDA administrator deleted my external links to the files, I had to upload everything to the first post.
So now is all OK.
Thanks for this. I preordered this tab at launch in late 2019 and hated the touch response and just overall laggy feel, so it's been sitting in a drawer for over a year. This firmware actually makes it nice and smooth, also extremely simple to flash.
Yes, in my ROM version the touch finally works fine. It is tragic that Teclast only fixed this in the Chinese version 1.05 ROM and did not release a corrected version of the EEA / Global ROM. When I wanted to work normally with the tablet, I had to make a corrected version of Global ROM 1.04.
It is a pity that the manufacturer does not release new updates.

I bought 3 Chinese tablets from different company’s & not one of them have been updated by the makers, but my 2 years old Samsung S9 South Korean phone still getting updates.
Its really is poor customer service when they can easy fix the problems, thankfully there people like you around to do there job for them!
Hi!
First of all, thanks for your great work. I have ghost touch in my Teclast T30 and I've been looking for a solution for weeks. Some days ago I found this post and installed the 1.0 version, that should fix my touch-screen issue. The installation was succesful, but still having the same problem. Ghost touch in the bottom side. ¿What can I do to fix this? I have the T1P2 version.
Thanks!
Hi, I don't know if anyone else is reporting a problem with a ghost touch on our tablet. I have not encountered this problem. They all reported only a problem with low touch sensitivity, which was solved by this hybrid ROM.
Maybe you could try peeling off the protective film. But I don't guarantee it will help.
Does physical keyboard work with hybrid rom?
Yes!
This hybrid ROM saved my T30. What a fantastic work Sir rbt07! The screen response is now super fast. After installing the version 1.0 I spent over a hour scrolling up and down just trying to believe in what I was seeing. It became a much better tablet now. Btw I got stucked in the 0% format during the flashing process and had to install the MTK drivers on my laptop. I only installed the last driver "we had three folders there" and then I could complete the installation. You should invoice Teclast to pay you for your work. Thanks a lot mate!

Yes it does work with the physical keyboard, I tested it myself
I'd like to thank you OP, this made my tablet actually able to play rhythm games to an acceptable degree. I didn't like to flash other ROMs because they all have a common issue: bluetooth connection. This ROM works flawlessly on my T1P3 by using it for 3 days.
Hybrid ROM is just a mix of two original ROMs, so it doesn't have many bugs.
