Pixel 2 stuck on boot screen after November update, 15 day Himalaya trek photos lost! - Google Pixel 2 Questions & Answers

Hi, Please help! So on the final day of a 15 day Himalaya trek my phone downloaded and installed the November update. after this the phone would no longer boot just staying on the G loading screen. As I was in the mountains there was no WiFi so the photos hadn't been automatically backing up and I am unable to access them at all now.
Steps tried:
1) restarting device multiple times to access alternate boot (this didn't work).
2) sideload with latest OTA Image (this just did the same thing, stays on the loading screen)
3) Leave phone on loading screen (did this for over 48 hours no change)
4) Contact Google support (did this they said only fix was to factory reset the phone.... NOT HELPFUL!)
look into 3rd party application on windows and mac to access the internal storage (none could see the phone)
5) Unable to sideload a previous version of Android due to the boot loader being locked.
phone is not rooted and as unable to boot cant find a way to do it.
Only other thing I have found would be to do the reset and hope that one of the 3rd party apps will be able to retrieve the data once I can boot back into OS.
Or wait for another OTA Update and try that.
Any help greatly appreciated.

[Q] HP Slate Pro 21 Issues

I purchased an HP Slate Pro 21 off of ebay that was freezing on boot, and it definitely is. My thought was if I could unlock it and load a different ROM, etc. that the problem may go away. Here is what I have done/figured out so far.
First power on, the device freezes at the first HP logo.
wiping the data (factory reset) allowed me to get into the O/S after several reboots
I was able to enable developer mode and USB debugging, at which point the device forces a reboot.
From this point, no matter what I do I cannot get the device to boot up all the way without freezing.
I can however, reload the factory image from HP's site (tried via SD card, and ADB just in case) and eventually through a multitude of reboots and freezes in different places (i.e. Boot Logo, Animated Boot Logo, Optimizing Apps) it will boot into the setup menus.
Problem is, at this point USB debugging has been factory reset to disabled. If I enable it, I'm back at square one and can't get the device to fully boot up.
There is a menu option to deploy image via ADB, and I can connect to it from my PC but it's (I believe, since I'm a noob) that it's a restricted mode for sideloading only.. Since I can see the device in the device list but it says (sideload) next it and the only adb command that I can run is to transfer an image. Problem is, I only have the HP image.
Are there any other steps to determine if this is a hardware problem? Further things I can do to try and get the device to boot? Other images I can try from ADB or SD Restore that will pass the signature check? (Since I can't load TWRP yet, because it's still locked).
Thanks for any help you can offer!

April 2016 CM13 update - soft brick - Google Play lockscreen error

Hi - My OnePlus One is the one I purchased from OnePlus One - with all the over the air upgrades.
The most recent was the April 2016 CM13 marshmallow upgrade - but this causes a permanent Google Play Services error - which freezes the screen (soft brick) - right after any reboot.
I'm considering doing a factory reset - (I understand that the process is to hold the volume button down while rebooting?) - but I wanted to check if there were other, better options for fixing this?
Thanks!
I am having the same issue..
after every boot up it gets stucked at lockscreen and doesnt allow me to do anything.... after 2-3 minutes gets automatically restarted..
Please Help
So, i own an OPO, stock, running COS 13 ( received update a few days ago). No ROOT, no Bootloader unlocked.
Today, early in the morning (My local time) I restarted my OPO because my Google Fit was not able to record my activity. After the reboot, i tried to unlock my phone, but it got STUCK. Freeze if you will.
I tried from Cyanogen Recovery to Wipe Cache, it did not worked.
I tried from Cyanogen Recovery to Wipe Data, it did not worked.
i do not the reason for wipping not working but i was scared. Because whenever a tried to boot into system, I was stuck at lockscreen
I tried to perform a wipe from adb, but adb shell was printing a "error closed". So i got scared .
I thought that i could fix my issue by performing a Wipe...
I Download the OPO toolkit. Put my device into fastboot, and unlocked my bootloader ( yes i void my warranty). After that, the toolkit installed the TWRP ( Custom Recovery ) with just one click.
Then i boot into recovery and perform a wipe. Phone was no longer stuck at lockscreen (actually i lost all data)
After that, my phone has been working great. (more than 12 hours from the issue)
Good luck mate.!
Hi all,
Having the same problem, I'm inquiring me about a way to fetch data from the devices. Is there any way to pull data from an encrypted device?
Also had the lockscreen error after the update.
I did:
Wipe Cache,Dalvik, System but not Data
Install Full Rom (COS 13)
Install SuperSU Beta
Reboot
wipe cache/dalvik/system, not data
Afterwards i could login but play services crashed every second. Then I allowed play services all rights again in privacy settings.
Rebooted and i could not get past lockscreen any more.
I restored my last backup, updated all apps, allowed all google apps without restrictions in privacy, cleared their caches.
Disabled lockscreen.
Restarted and updated as above but did not Install SuperSu beta directly.
System booted fine. Then I installed SuperSu beta again. Still no problems
Hope this helps or gives some hints on the cause.

Boot loop on optimizing apps

I have the US 32gb unlocked version. Tried to do the downgrade to install CM using the method mentioned several times that changes the version from a command put in twrp.
First I unlocked bootloader, then installed twrp, then did the command line thing to lower the fw version, then put the v1.12 firmware on zip then rebooted to install.
Well, the install failed so I decided to stop there and try to put everything back to stock by using the latest ruu exe from HTC. The exe started sending a file to phone, then locked up and threw an error. I restarted the exe and it finally passed. I got everything set up and went to bed while it was updating apps.
This morning, shut off phone to put in SD, and when turning on it was optimizing apps then when done, would reboot and optimize again. The phone was stuck in this loop until I let the battery die. I couldn't do anything with it.
Battery finally died and tried to run the ruu exe again. This time it would not pass at all, no matter how many tries. I wanted to try to run the zip from SD but the latest firmware I can only find as exe.
Finally decided to just do a factory reset from recovery mode. This let the phone boot normally and I could do set up again. I tried doing a soft reboot, and it booted fine. Then I disabled apps I don't use, and did a full power down, now the phone is back to doing the 'optimizing apps' bootloop.
Right now I'm waiting for it to run its battery down again so I can at least get to download mode/recovery. Maybe I will try a full power off and app disabling separately, to see which is causing the loop.
Anyone have an idea what's going on? A link to the latest ruu in zip form? I really need a sure fire way to get this thing full clean stock (remember the exe is failing for me) to eliminate if thats the cause. Is it because I edited the version number?
Edit: just realized I put this in the wrong section
Update: Once battery died, I did factory reset again from recovery. Went through setup, and I then immediately shut the phone completely off and turned back on. It booted up fine. I then went to disable the same apps as before, EXCEPT for the "Google App". Phone still powers up fine, so I left it there and phone is working fine. I didn't want to see if disabling the Google App was causing the phone to boot loop. I had that app disabled the entire time I've had the phone, but don't think I've ever completely shut the phone down, so maybe that's why I never had the problem.
Still don't know why the ruu exe didn't work. Hopefully it was the computer, and I can still take updates.
I have the same problem, can't disable apps without phone going into bootloop on restart. Can you tell me what apps did you disable? Facebook, Instagram, Google docs, HTC apps etc,etc...

I think what caused my problem was disabling the app called "Google App". No problem disabling all the Facebook and Instagram apps.
What about Google docs, slides and news apps? Can those be disabled?
Same problem with my A9 bought a week ago. Like Rouyal, I recall disabling the Google App and then came the OTA update and the bootloop. Tried alll permutations of buttons and even when I could get to RECOVERY MODE, all the options looped as well, returning to the same screen: no bootloader, no recovery. The only alternative screen was the "Enter your code to decrypt your drive" after leaving RECOVERY MODE. It looped as well. Copied the stock RUU to an external SD card; did nothing (with HTC Sync).
SOLUTION: Enter wrong codes for the "decrypt your drive" screen 30 times; that is the limit before the drive gets a factory reset. After the 30th it was factory reset. On restarting, the systems asks for the SAME email that was used previously.

Problems with my google pixel 3 xl ( don´t boot anymore)

Hi there,
because of no permissions to post it in Google section, i have to do here:
I have a Google Pixel 3 XL with me and it has the following problem:
When booting up, it continues in Android Recovery mode (it is written in yellow)
google/crosshatch/crosshatch
9/PD1A.180720.030/4972053
user/release-keys
Use volume up/down and power.
Dann in Rot:
Can´t load Android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message, you may need to perform a factory data reset and erase all user data stored on this device.
If I reset now, the phone stays in the Google logo with the loading bar all the time
If I just try again, it will come back to this mode.
What I've already tried:
To reset via the normal recovery menu, imported new image / FW via ADB.
Unfortunately, it always breaks off when uploading and the error occurs: could not be verified.
I tried several images. Maybe someone has food for thought for me.
Thanks in advance

Extract/copy/backup data from Pixel 2 stuck on G loading screen with grey bar

Hello , yesterday I I turned off (power off through power button menu) my Pixel 2 for some time, when I turned it on again it got stuck as the title says for more than 30 minutes. Whenever I long-press the power button the phone restart but gets stuck again in the same loop. I'm able to access the bootloader and the recovery mode, I even managed to use adb to sideload the latest OTA update but that doesn't fix my problem. I understand that a factory reset/wipe could fix the issue but some of the data on the phone are important to my work and have not been backed up so I'm trying to save them if possible.
My Pixel 2 is running stock A11, last updated in October to 11.0.0 (RP1A.201005.004, Oct 2020) It has been working normally since I updated it almost a month back. It's not rooted and the bootloader is locked.
This is my first time to delve into topics such as flashing, sideloading...etc. and my experience is pretty limited so my questions are as follows:
1) Is there a way to extract/copy/backup the data in this case so that I could proceed with factory reset?
2) If the answer is no, is there any possible way to get out of the infinite loading loop?
3) If all else fails, do you think that waiting for the December OTA (final update intended for Pixel 2) and then sideloading it could fix the issue?
