Galaxy Note 8 Update Question - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

Hey everyone, I'm relatively new here, so I'm hoping this is the proper section to post my question regarding my Note 8's inability to find an update. It's model number is SM-N950U, and baseband version N950USQS3BRB2 (AT&T). It has the stock 7.1.1 firmware, and it absolutely will not find any firmware updates when I search. It's driving me crazy because my other note 8 is updated to 9, however its screen is cracked to ****. And my old Note 8 is in perfect condition. Any info or tips would be great help. And again, I've tried looking through the forums at firmware links and lists, but I can't find any update files for my specific baseband version. I don't know if that matters or not. Anyways, thanks for anyone's time that helps.

You cannot update from the N950USQS3BRB2 firmware version that's why it's not finding anything. You need to manually update it yourself to the next update version which I think is N950USQU3CRC2 using Odin and then it'll be able to do it on it's own.

Hey Mike whats up bro. My Note 9 does this same thing. Seems that a lot of people with At&t have this issue. My 8 is still on BRK2 rooted, and will stay that way..lol.

Hey what's up brother!! I noticed that too and I think they're messing something up and then when they push the update out it's supposed to see a certain version to update from and if they mess up the version it's supposed to see by typos or something then it just doesn't update and then keeps saying you're on the latest firmware version even though you know you're not lol.. Usually when I run into that problem if you update it yourself to the next version it seems to clear the problem. Personally I don't like updating either because we all know that they're just putting a bunch of junk on the phone in order to make it get slower and slower to make us get annoyed with it and buy a new phone..

Thank you so much for your response. I manually updated it to CRC2 yesterday using ADB. Now it's at version 8. The whole reason I was wanting to update it was because of the PIP feature in 8. Now i just have to get it updated to 9. But it's still not finding an update when I search. So I may have to manually do it again.

Try downloading this version N950USQU4CRD7 and then see if it'll update on it's own.

You are right Mike, sometimes you have to get device on right path before it will process an OTA. Now me I am a little OCD and I would rather use Odin or firmware Science method to update. It's just something about OTA vs connection when updating that gets my OCD...lol

Galaxy s6 tmobile

So I know this is the wrong area but s6 forums are dead so I was hoping someone could answer a question here. What I wanted to know was that I am on nougat right now and I was thinking of installing a custom rom that was a lower android version. I am rooted and know all the steps to do it but was unsure if that would brick it by having a different version on it. And in case you wonder why it is because I wanted to use unlimited hotspot and have not found a way to do so with nougat but many ways to do it on older versions plus I could use foxfi. So please no bashing just a guy looking for answers is all. Thank you for your time.
Last thing I am on metro pcs but it is a tmobile version. I also do the stock 6.0 version to flash it
Anyone
Why don't you just try it if the worst comes to the worst just flash your latest Android version with Odin

Exclusive: Samsung stops Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 release, new version being developed

Samsung started rolling out the much-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ last week. As promised, the update was first released to members of the beta program before it was rolled out to non-beta devices earlier this week. The update had only been sent out in a handful of markets but in a rather unexpected turn of events, Samsung has stopped the Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo update release..

yep, that was rather weird, almost felt like the finger to the community or users,
not sure what is all behind this rather unconventional name though
Well, it looks like anyone on Carrier Branded firmware (me) is in for a long wait, if a problem has been found in the firmware, it will set everyone back.

According to the post, it shouldn't be a problem for anyone who has already updated. It would be ideal if they let people know why though.
Well, ive already flashed trough Odin the Spain PHE version into my Portuguese phone using the tutorial to make the necessaries workarounds.
So far im very happy.
The phone is very stable and much more fluid and quick than Nougat
Nothing to complaint so far!!!
Now I know the reason why it is lablled as CRAP.
They probably want to prevent rolling back to nougat bootloader for those that use that loophole to root and not have to wait 7 days for oem lock to appear.

Hi everyone
Today I flashed the firmware crap but now I can not install the recovery how to downgrade
it's a shame to samsung, we consumers pay a fortune for a mobile phone, and we have to wait 2 years for an OS update
i missing my nexus´s my father phone (nexus 5x ) have oreo 8.1 ...unbelievable lolllllol

The last 5 characters of the firmware version are: numeric for BL version, alphanumeric for the phone’s Samsung Experience/major update (C means third major update to the initial release of the phone), alphanumeric for the year (Q is 2017, R is 2018), alphanumeric for month (technically alphabetic, A to K), and alphanumeric for non-test-build of the given month.
So 1CRAP is: bootloader v1, third major release, 2018, january, P release.

Apparently the only reason they stoped the rollout of oreo was that it was causing some devices to reboot. That's what I've been reading has anyone had that problem?

Cannot find update.

Hello, I have a galaxy s8+ from att, and i am using it on the att network. G55USQU1AQGL is my baseband version and I am on android version 7.0. Att recently announced the 8.0 oreo update but my phone cannot find it, it says it is up to date. Any help is appreciated.
Per ATT side notes, I think you have to at least be on one of these version to receive the Oreo update;

You are behind a couple of updates. For some reason mine wouldn't find updates either, heres how i fixed it. Go to https://www.att.com/devicehowto/tut...tep_KM1203359?make=Samsung&model=SamsungG955U and find which update you are on, and figure out which comes next, you have to do them in order. Then go to https://samsung.firmware.science and select your model, baseband and the baseband you need to update to, which you can find on the att site. Then just flash via recovery and adb. Beware however, that it erases everything off your phone.
Question?

Still no 9.0 update for AT&T Note 8

I'm just about fed up with this whole android thing. I'm seriously considering going to Apple simply because the updates are brainless and quick. It's now January 2020 and I still don't have the AT&T update for 9.0. on my Note 8.
AT&T tells me a Samsung's problem, and samsung tells me it's AT&T's problem.
People have told me how easy it is to use odin to get it done, but I'm not techie, and I don't want to make a mistake. If there truly is an easy way to do this, I'd really appreciate some help. You can PM me for my phone number if it's a simple walkthrough thing. Eventually I'm gonna want to sell this phone, and I'm not gonna be able to do it if I haven't even gotten to 9.0.
I think you could take it to a best buy and have the Samsung guys update it for you.

You can use any of the latest firmware version updates because they're all the same exact thing! You can download the one that says it's for Verizon/T-Mobile etc etc and it won't matter you just need to do it manually using Odin like @TsunaXZ just said. I know you said you have never used Odin before but I promise it's not as scary as you think it is in fact you'll laugh at yourself afterwards because it's that easy!

Same. I'm on some weird build that no one seems to get and I can't use Odin cause I don't have a computer. I can only use the flash zip via SD card method and I can't find an actual file that works. Are you also on N950USQS5CSA1?
It's N950USQS5CRL1. AT&T Note 8

AT&T doesn't want you to.

That is EXACTLY what it is, AT&T has locked all of their firmwares down and they aren't accessible. You can go to the link below for some of the latest firmwares. I unfortunately don't know what the current AT&T Stock is because the carriers seem to be being just a hair off on their build numbers. So if you choose on to flash in the link below, I can't guarantee that you'll get OTA's

How to get stock rom from samsung?

Hi.
My phone is SM-N910CQ
Current android version is 6.0.1
I want to install Android 5.1.1 stock rom from Samsung.
I did not try any roms, Kies, Sammobile.
I think, Kies will install latest Android version.
I don't want to use Sammobile. It is not official.
I have never rooted. (If I need, I can.)
I have an idea to get stock rom from Samsung.
I cannot try because I don't know how to do it.
My idea is:
1 - To change my phone firmware version with older than current version. (It will need roots.)
For example: Android shows current version is 4.4.4. Actually Android is 6.0.1
2 - If it can be success, when I check my phone to update.
I can get stock rom from Samsung.
But. Even if it can be success, Samsung can give me the latest version. (So, 6.0.1) (I really don't know the results.)
Can it work?
What do you think about my idea and how can I do it?
Thank you.

There is nothing to worry about from Sammobile, many people use Samsung firmware from Sammobile. I've used firmware from Sammobile many times.
If you're looking for an "official Samsung site" offered by Samsung themselves to download your firmware, you won't find it. Samsung has an "official" site with downloads for their devices, but, they do not offer firmware for every model number/device they make. I've already looked, they don't have firmware for SM N910CQ there, they only have a few different firmware for a handful of SM-N910 variants.
If you want to flash your device, you have no choice but to get your firmware from somewhere other than Samsung themselves, whether you like or not. The rest of the community of Samsung users has to accept this fact, you are not any better than the rest of us.

Thank you so much. That URL has been broken.
Except one thing my phone is fine.
After about a minute of playing, FPS starts to drop.
There can be many reasons for this. However, I found a strange solution.
However, this solution is valid for about a minute.
I return to the recently used apps panel. And I'm back in the game. Without closing the game.
I can play with 60 FPS for about one more minute. This is such a cycle.
I could not understand the reason for this. It looks like a software bug.
Do you have any information on this subject?
Thank you.
