Hi.
My phone is SM-N910CQ
Current android version is 6.0.1
I want to install Android 5.1.1 stock rom from Samsung.
I did not try any roms, Kies, Sammobile.
I think, Kies will install latest Android version.
I don't want to use Sammobile. It is not official.
I have never rooted. (If I need, I can.)
I have an idea to get stock rom from Samsung.
I cannot try because I don't know how to do it.
My idea is:
1 - To change my phone firmware version with older than current version. (It will need roots.)
For example: Android shows current version is 4.4.4. Actually Android is 6.0.1
2 - If it can be success, when I check my phone to update.
I can get stock rom from Samsung.
But. Even if it can be success, Samsung can give me the latest version. (So, 6.0.1) (I really don't know the results.)
Can it work?
What do you think about my idea and how can I do it?
Thank you.

There is nothing to worry about from Sammobile, many people use Samsung firmware from Sammobile. I've used firmware from Sammobile many times.
If you're looking for an "official Samsung site" offered by Samsung themselves to download your firmware, you won't find it. Samsung has an "official" site with downloads for their devices, but, they do not offer firmware for every model number/device they make. I've already looked, they don't have firmware for SM N910CQ there, they only have a few different firmware for a handful of SM-N910 variants.
If you want to flash your device, you have no choice but to get your firmware from somewhere other than Samsung themselves, whether you like or not. The rest of the community of Samsung users has to accept this fact, you are not any better than the rest of us.

Thank you for your reply.
My phone version does not appear on Sammobile. Thank you for looking it for me.
It seems I have to continue to use my phone with current Android version.
Also I have to take a backup of my rom to prevent future problems.

Here is 5.0.1 for your model number, are you in Turkey? If not, this is firmware may or may not work for you.

Thank you so much. That URL has been broken.
Except one thing my phone is fine.
After about a minute of playing, FPS starts to drop.
There can be many reasons for this. However, I found a strange solution.
However, this solution is valid for about a minute.
I return to the recently used apps panel. And I'm back in the game. Without closing the game.
I can play with 60 FPS for about one more minute. This is such a cycle.
I could not understand the reason for this. It looks like a software bug.
Do you have any information on this subject?
Thank you.

Hi, I am currently running V.2.3.4 on my Samsung GS 2. The phone is unlocked purchased on Internet and I am with AT&T in US.
My question is how can I get 2.3.5 or higher if it's official released by Google says for UK but not for US. I don't even know Google did release it in US or not.
If not, can I still do it and where can I get it?
Any reponses would be appreciated.
Do you have the international or the AT&T version? The international version has 2.3.6 already.
You can find out which version you have in the system information. The international version is the GT-I9100.

Thanks for replying. My carrier is AT&T but I bought the phone unlocked online so it is the international version ( no AT&T name on it ) Is 2.3.6 official release or simply a beta?
Thanks
Official release. However it's not available to everyone through KIES yet. I don't know why. Maybe because Samsung handles updates crappy or because KIES is crappy.
You live in the US so I'll find a suitable update for you (English language and such). Just give me some time. I REALLY need to go sleep now. Just tell me what CSC you have asap. The best would be if you post your output of the System-Information from Android. Kernel, Baseband,....such stuff. Do you use Windows, Linux or OSX?

Remember there are many variants of the Samsung Galaxy SII. Some have that update (as shown in the thread), some don't (like yours - XWKI4 (KI1)). You could interchange if you want to; See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301772.

That's right, but if he tells me what CSC he has, he might has luck. There is a 2.3.6 firmware with multicsc and if his is amongst them, he can safely flash it, because it's english anyway.
If he has no luck, he still has options:
Wait for an update or go with MIUI or CyanogenMod and therefore 2.3.7.

Interchange? Meaning I can still use the 2.3.6 that is suppose for other GS 2 right?
GT-I9100 is GT-I9100 so the firmware will work on your device. But depending on your CSC, you might get problems with mobile data and such.
CSC is a problem in stock-roms only. Custom-roms just work, so those are an alternative too. You can always flash back later.

P.S. I've done the upgrade on my wife's Samsung Galaxy 3 I5800 one time ( from 2.1 to 2.2 ) The phone was not for US market as a result I could not get updates but I found the firmware & instructions online and finally got it done.
I just saw quite a bit of people in Android forum complaining about 2.3.6 causing battery drainage after the upgrade. Is it real?

Let me check this. I can't tell now, because I've never used 2.3.6. I used 2.3.7 right away and now my ROM is based on 4.0.1. If the battery is a problem, I'll find you a 2.3.5. one.

EDIT:
Indeed many people on the internet complain about that battery-life got worse. Here on xda and various different sites. I think you should go with 2.3.5 then. It's still an upgrade and people like it.
The latest one for you should be this one:

Firmware upgrade FAILED! HELP!
I was upgrading my GS 2 from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5 by following the links provided here some how the upgrade failed. In the mean time my GS2 STILL SHOW DOWNLOADING and said DO NOT UNPLUG THE CABLE so I waited, waited I think it was more than 12 to 15 min finally I unplugged it, the phone was still in downloading mode and didn't respond to all buttons so I removed the battery, tried back the downloading mode again then it pops up the message " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again "
But Kies said " Device not responding. To resolve the issue reboot the device " which I've tried a numerous time and nothing happen. Can some one help please!!!
Thanks
UPDATE:
I just got it fixed. While I was waiting I decided to go ahead to do whatever it takes what I did was re-do the process by opened up the Odin on PC suprisingly the downloading bar on phone & Odin both appearing while the " Firmware upgrade encountered a issue Please use KIES for recovery mode " message still there and Odin said it passed, the phone rebooted and I checked the version which is 2.3.5 I also checked all my files nothing is lost. How & why I have no idea may be some Android experts in this forum can tell me. Now everything is all good. I learned my lesson I should kept waiting before unplug or remove the cable/battery whether the process is succeded or not.
I love my tablet, but it's not bulletproof and I have to assume that somewhere along the way Samsung will offer, or has already offered, updates to it. However, now that I'm rooted, the Update process doesn't work as it complains that I've modified by tablet. As a result I have no idea if updates have happened.
Can anyone tell me if they have and how rooted users will get them if/when these updates happen?
I assume someone will have an image we can install.
Yeah, images is typically how its done, even the ROM scene depends on them.
I can't say that I long for any updates though, unless its for a major UI overhaul like L or for important security updates.
Has Samsung released any?
You can check here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Just enter SM-P900 in the firmware search box. Compare your current firmware version to the ones listed there. Some regions (CSC) have slightly different versions. I use the Canadian version *NC5 ( http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=28726 ) You can install firmware from a different region, but you can encounter issues with keyboard language, WIFI channels being different, etc. So best to keep with the same CSC, unless you know what you're doing.
The last three letters/numbers of the CSC code show if your current firmware is old or not. Example: *NC5 is older than *NF2.

Dumb question. That's for the Android firmware. What about physical hardware updates like a BIOS or something? Does that not happen?
Nope never seen anything like that for any of my android tablets.

NOT AT&T OFFICIAL FIRMWARE
The ROM in question is a 5.0.1 Android build and according to the original source should be good for GT-I9500/9502/9508/9508v versions. The nice folks over at XDA have been playing around with the new software for a few hours now and it appears to be a legitimate official Samsung firmware as opposed to the recent Aurora ports of the leaked Note 3 software.
A few things need to be noted about the Galaxy S4 ROM, though. First of all it has a Chinese region, so even though English is available as a system language, along with two variants of Chinese, some system messages will remain regionalized and so will some functions, like the weather widget.
A stock English keyboard is also missing, but that is easily fixable. Other than that the build seems to be doing well in terms of functionality. NFC, sbeam, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G DATA, Wi-Fi, all sensors for motion and light, hotspot function, Multiwindow all seem to be in working order, as reported by various early adopters.
If you are feeling adventurous and decide to check out the leaked Lollipop software remember to back everything up, as update will almost definitely wipe your internal storage. And if you are a little bit skeptical and wish to wait for the official OTA to start seeding, it shouldn't be long now, as the ROM seems to be just about ready for public consumption.
~~~ FROM THE MODERATOR ~~~ This is not as easy as some may Think...... This isn't as easy as it sounds... for several reasons.
I'm not going to really go into the details but basically if your not a firmware with LOKI support you won't getting to run a 5.0 ROM on the S4 for the time being. Updates to Safestrap, among other things need to be made, and with the changes in Lollipop it remains to be seen if it will work. Not to mention the build is Chinese, would be better of waiting for the official update for the U.S, Canada, or the U.K
We'll see what happens though ~
Even so, flashing it to your device will likely cause issues when trying to go back. If someone is brave enough to take the plunge go ahead and pull up terminal and check the aboot increment. Mind you, this isn't for our model and may brick your device.
We hopefully wait for lollipop for our beloved S4 it's matter of days already so we have to be patient
Hello
I'm wondering because I noticed there was a link that came with my phone originally that wasn't there when I restored a ROM I took from SamMobile.
I flashed many devices with odin and firmware downloaded from SamMobile.com and i never had any problems with it. The provided firmwares are not modified and seem to be 100% official versions.
No need to worry about sammobile as it is safe and clean.
Nothing important really but there was a link to my carrier's mobile site and SamMobile listed the ROM with the name of my carrier. So I thought it had been modified. But maybe it's just because it's the same version as the one my carrier offers but doesn't come FROM my carrier?
Not official, but safe. They make their money by subscription services for "premium" download privileges. Maybe ads too, but I use adblock, so I wouldn't see them.
Sammobile updates Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 LTE
Hello,
Could somebody senior please help me? I am wondering about official updates from Samsung for ROMs downloaded from sammobile, are they possible?
I've just installed Kitkat 4.4.2 on my beloved Note 3 after few days of using Darkera's Note 7 ROM when I'm tapping on "Update" in "Software Update" menu I get "Processing failed" message. Overall phone's responsiveness isn't that great, that's why I wanted to see if update is available.
You can't do stock updates on rooted devices with custom ROMs and custom recovery.
You have to remove root, you also need to have an UNMODIFIED system partition and you need stock recovery.
If you're using a custom ROM(your note 7 ROM is a ported stock custom ROM) then that means you are rooted and probably have custom recovery which means you need to remove root and undo any system modifications that were done in the custom ROM(including any special themes and Xposed) then flash stock recovery instead of custom recovery.
Then you might be able to do the updates but the system will be looking for your device to have straight stock with no modification, if there is any modification left behind then the update won't work.
Hi!
Thank you for your message.
Here is the list of things I did to my poor note 3 :
- rooted
- installed Darkera's note 7 rom, custom recovery and kernel downloaded also from Darkera
- unrooted with supersu
- using Odin3 I installed kitkat 4.4.2 which I downloaded from sammobile (I was told this process gonna whipe away everything - custom rom, custom recovery and kernel)
- downloaded supersu to make sure root is gone
Because of sammobile's server maintenance happening this weekend I used kitkat file I downloaded from sammobile quite some time ago (N9005XXUEND3_N9005XEOEND2_XEO for Poland) and during flashing everything went ok. But now when I go to 'settings' and 'about device' imei, modem version, baseband version are unknown and when I try to hit 'update' I get "processing failed' message. Oh, and I'm also experiencing random reboots. I'm not sure if all this is a normal thing or perhaps I did something wrong.
I hope I didn't bore you to sleep
Hi guys
I've searched Google, Bing, and Yahoo page by page... but I cannot find this firmware. It's the very first firmware for the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (GT-P3113) with Android 4.0.3. If anyone has this uploaded anywhere, please share the file with me. I'm trying to flash it. The XAR version. Thank you.
I suppose that you are guided by someone's opinion that this ROM is better than others.
Ask a question on the specialized sammobile forum.
The oldest ROM XAR for P3113 from sammobile is P3113UEBLG2 based on build IMM76D android-4.0.4_r1.1.
You sure? I used to have the Tab 2 and I got Android 4.0.3 on my GT-P3113 XAR one, but it was stolen, so I deleted it. But I just bought it again and regret deleting it. Even deleted it from my Dropbox.
SamMobile used to have 4.0.3 but it's just not there anymore. I remember because I download everything from there. I even looked online and saw people had that software.
I already have 4.0.4.
Also... no. I haven't been told it's the best (maybe it is, who knows.) But I just wanted to get this firmware.
I prefer the update.com site because SamMobile is now putting many of it's firmware downloads behind a paywall & it's a faster download IMO. Not the oldest on-line but good enough: https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?exact=1&q=GT-P3113
On my Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 GT-P3113 espressowifi I am currently running Android-Andi's unofficial Lineage 13.0 [ROM][6.x] LineageOS 13.0.
He's probably looking for android 4.0.3 PDA: LD2, but he does not even know it.
If such a system was on the tablet at the beginning and it was the first ROM for this tablet, it is impossible to have a version for the odin.
It can exist as a file only version that performs the upgrade or self-made dump partition after the root of the device.
A waste of time for further discussion.
Actually, I do know what I'm talking about. I'm looking in my OneDrive now and the file's called "HOME_P3113UEALD3_378347_REV04_user_low_ship.tar" but the file is 0B.
Got any other ways to try and make me sound like I don't know what I'm talking about?
Edit: exactly what I thought.
