Hi Guys,
So I have a very peculiar issue regarding calling my wife. I am using the One Plus 7 Pro on Verizon. She is using Essential Ph-1 on same plan as me.
When I call her, she can hear me just fine, but I can't hear her at all. Cant hear her through phone, speaker or even Bluetooth device like my headphones.
When she calls me, we can hear each other perfectly. When I call anyone else, we hear each other fine. When anyone else calls her, they hear each other fine.
It appears to be specifically only when I call her. Anyone ever come across such an issue? I tried searching everything I could think off and got nothing.
If anyone has any idea, please let me know. Thanks
Try setting both phones to LTE only or preferred. I was having a similar issue with my phone and my wife's s10 plus. Both on Verizon. Once i played with network settings i haven't had the issue.

Cant seem to set LTE only or Preferred in the One Plus. Its doesn't stick. How did you do it?

I searched everywhere and haven't seen any reports on this.
Does anyone else have serious call quality problems, only when using WIFI calling on T-Mobile? I get a terrible crackle/static fairly often.
I thought at first it was the built-in earpiece but I don't have this problem as soon as I switch off WIFI calling (and call over the 3G network).
What I also thought was interesting, is that when in WIFI calling... I can use my bluetooth headset or speakerphone and have zero interference/cracking sounds.
Let me know if you have any tricks, or if I should get this thing repaired by HTC! Thanks
WiFi Calling Crackling
I'm having the same issues with WiFi calling. I experienced a couple times and thought it might just be a bad connection, but apparently it's more than that. Hopefully the MR update (whenever that is) will address this
Yeah I don't think swapping the handset is going to help this one, hopefully an update comes out soon to address the WIFI calls. And hopefully Skype comes out with one too, because its static as all hell too.
I have the same issue. It was delayed as well. Odd.

I am also having that experience with Skype calls and really bad with video calls and GTA 3. Could it be beats integration?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using XDA
Don't think the beats affect calls since its coming through the earpiece. Guess we're going to need some software updates. T-Mobile mentioned there will be an update to address Wifi Calling battery life, maybe they'll sneak a fix in. I've reported it to T-Mo and HTC... You guys should too.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the phone, minus the pain in the butt power button! Its so flush with the case, it is difficult to press.
yea i also heard about a update rolling out looking forward to it
+1
Getting a slight / medium crackle during conversations on wifi. Crystal clear on GSM.
I get the crackle too, any word on a fix?
Just a reply to say I have the same issue on two One S phones from tmobile. I had to set wifi calling to use cell when available, as opposed to using wifi when available. The crackle was so "sharp" and pronounced that I was about to return my phones because it really sounds like a hardware issue/loose speaker parts in the earpiece! Thankfully, it works great with GSM, so it seems to be software only. And, if I need wifi calling in a pinch, I'm willing to put up with the crackles. If I had to rely on it (due to low signal in my house), it would be very frustrating.
Also on wifi calling sometimes callers could not hear me, or I them. That only happened a couple of times to me, but was a major reason I demoted wifi calling.
By the way, this phone is absolutely amazing! Fast, fast, fast, great screen, great battery, great metal shell... would love to remove Sense because it buries all the Google App integration and favors everything else, but that's a personal opinion.
Skeeboe
Yeah the feel and speed of this phone are just incredible. It just seems like there is some software kinks that need to be worked out.
Another one I've run into recently is YouTube links directing me to the mobile site rather than the native app (which is another problem with the 3 dot menu lol).
I hope they don't rush the first update and work to address some of these quirks.
Yea, I had the crackle issue on my first handset (kept having it randomly reboot) but haven't tried on the new handset since it seems they now have to enable the wifi calling feature on the account and my account is to old to enable it...or so they claim.
Wait so is the wifi calling crackle you t-mobile guys in the States get the same as the crackle I get when using Skype on my One S in the UK?
US t-mobile here. skype's crackle is much worse, impossible to deal with. wi-fi crackle is sporadic and annoying.
I'm completely confused about the whole crackle thing now. I've seen and read about your US T-mobile wifi calling which I now understand and skype crackles a heck of a lot for me. So I assumed that it was a VOIP calling problem but I used Viber to call someone over wifi last night and there was no crackle at all on a 30 minute call. Oh well I won't complain about that, would be nice if skype was working for video calls though
I am experiencing the same issue with WiFi calling too, which is a pain because I primarily make my calls over WiFi. It was so bad on a conference call today I had to switch phones. Anyone know if this is a known issue for T-Mo yet, don't want to call into care if they are already aware of it. Also, out of curiosity does anyone know if this was an issue before the most recent firmware update?
Thanks!
it's hard to say if T-Mo knows about it but they didn't acknowledge anything regarding this issue, only the battery drain related to wi-fi calling. all T-Mo US HTC One's suffer from it.
I have reported it twice to TMO, first time I was told they didn't know about it. The second time a few days later, they were aware of the issue but couldn't tell me if/when they were going to push an update out for the crackle issue. If I were u guys I would report it so they may push something quicker rather than having horrible comments about their flagship ICS device!

Just purchased an HTC One S today.
I talked with T-mobile earlier today and showed them the link to the t-mobile support forum thread created for the Wifi calling quality issues (crackling/delay) on the HTC One S.
They told me that they are aware of the problem and it's a known issue. I didn't press them for a timetable to fix it or anything.
Everyone who's experiencing wifi calling issues should at least take a moment to call in to tech support or chat with a t-mobile tech rep.
We need to make sure they address this quickly. I know a lot of people rely on wifi calling on t-mobile in spotty/bad signal areas. I sure do.
Just curious as to what others are doing to deal with this issue (discussed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47276465 ).
I just bought my N5 two days ago and, while I have an iPhone 5s to fall back on, it would be really nice to be able to use the phone that I just bought. I was thinking of setting up a Tasker profile or something to switch radios based on some factor or another. Maybe let it drop to 1xRTT when on WIFI (when I'm home or at work) and use LTE elsewhere (I like to stream music in my car with my phone - 1xRTT is no good for that ). I really just need a way to see when someone has attempted to call, so that I can call back. Oh well. Someone will figure something out.
So how about you? What are you doing to cope?
Using a different phone?
"Screw everyone who calls me, I need DATA" ?
"Sprint can suck it, I'm switching to [other carrier] because this is the phone I want." ?
Something else?
Hate to double post, but I thought people might like to know.
For whatever reason today I felt compelled to switch back to my N5 from my iPhone 5s. To do so on Sprint (apparently) requires a factory reset.
After factory resetting and reactivating my Nexus 5, it magically works the way it should. LTE when I need data, but I still get phone calls and texts like normal.
Unless Sprint literally fixed the problem overnight, I have no idea what happened.
So if you're having the tri-band LTE issue feel free to give this a shot. I'm located in Central PA, for what it's worth.

it could have been an error in activation possibly causing the problem. a simple prl and profile update may have fixed the issue for you initially. if you didnt try that, that is.
No I'm in Hagerstown and lte just started working last night for me too. Now my problem is making phone calls. When I'm on Lte I can't make phone calls. I cant receive them just fine but wjen I try to call out it says call sent and immediately says call ended. Can u make calls on Lte?

I had tried the PRL and profile updates when I was trying to get it to work last night, as per some instructions that, I think, I found on Sprint's website.

I have 2 pixel 3 for my wife and me. Wer both have serious issues with call quality. Partners cant hear US and calls suddently Cut off.
We both using t-mobile in germany and have no issues with other phones with the same Sim.
We already tried to Turn of volte and WiFi calling with no effect. Google Support told me they aware of this issues but have no solution. Anybody here with same problems?

Yes, same issue for me and a couple of people I know in Canada using 3 XL.
There is a thread about it on product forums on googel. I can't linkt it yet.
I love the pixel phones but this makes IT barely usable for US....hoping for a fast solution on this topic.
I have the exact same problem. German Telekom, calls cut off suddenly and for couple seconds other side can't hear me.
I thought it is related to WiFi calling.

Exactly the same here. German phone, using it with Tele2 in the Netherlands. Can't call anyone, nobody can call me. Restart fixes it.
Yes, restart works for a while. So there must be something wrong with the Software.

My wife and I have a similar issue on T-Mobile US, but it appears to only occur when at our home. My connection while at work or traveling around Houston is fine. She works from home and has resorted to using WiFi calling for anyone to hear her, but that too can be a bit spotty at times.
Our average LTE download speeds at the house are a paltry 2-3 mbps. Around town, I can usually get around 20 mbps. Tmo is sending us an LTE repeater for our house to see if that helps. Strange though, we didn't have ANY of these issues with our Pixel 2.
I had the very same problem with my Pixel 3 (Telus mobility / Canada). I returned it and Google sent me a new one. So far so good.
A factory reset reduced the problem by 90% for my wife's phone, and the T-Mobile LTE extender we just received seemed to take care of the last 10%.
I don't want to hijack this thread, but I just admit that I was very skeptical about the LTE extender, but this thing is great! I went front 2-3mbps at home to 20+ Mbps. And now my signal strength went from -115db to -80! ?
I love everything about this phone. If you dont make any actual phone calls it is perfect. Unfortunately, it has a huge flaw with call quality.
I use tmobile and have the unlocked phone directly from oneplus so I use this oneplus 7 pro on weekends and my Note 9 during the week when I need to make calls. The call quality difference is so obvious between the Note 9 and the Oneplus. I went into Tmobile and they said my APN's are perfect and everything looks great. Anyone else notice this? Thanks
I also don't make a ton of calls, but the ones i have made or taken have had no issue whatsoever. I use Mint Mobile which is an MVNO of tmobile, so i use the same APNs. Might try just restoring or possibly contact oneplus about it. Could be a hardware issue.
No issues on call quality here. Comes in crisper than a lot of other phones actually. I'm use the tmobile as well but I'm on international firmware.

Same and I have no issues or complains with call quality.
I have pretty poor call quality myself. But for me is most likely because I'm used to VoLTE from my Pixel 3 XL. My carrier hasn't provisioned OnePlus phones for VoLTE or VoWiFi.
I want to try the force VoLTE enabler but I'm a little concerned with things going south.
Call quality is as good as ever for me. No issues at all. On T-Mobile, unlocked OnePlus direct from OnePlus.
call quality isnt that good for me on my pixel 2 xl

Super clear on my phone. T-Mobile here unlocked from OnePlus and stock APN. Best reception and quality I've had on a phone.
I have to say this is my first op device I've been running pixels the last few years, on Verizon. my call experience has been great . one thing I can tell you that is better is the Bluetooth is way better
Zero issues with call quality on my T-mobile Oneplus 7 Pro.
I like it better than the quality I was getting on my S9 Plus.
My call quality is fine with my unlocked Oneplus 7 Pro on T-Mobile.

This is pretty important .... Are you on the same carrier with your Note and your OP?
Any other possible variables??
Yes, I am on the same carrier T-Mobile and use the same SIM card. Hopefully this can be fixed with a software update. I'm on the phone all day long. Most people are not on the phone all day long so they might not notice any issues
I am on my phone 2-3 hours a day, but mostly on Bluetooth. T-MOBILE carrier, unlocked version. I am driving out in the country, where service is boarder line, and the signal is better than most phones I have used. Call quality is great. VOLTE when I'm out, and VOWIFI at home. Although when not on Bluetooth, I have to move the phone around to find the spot where I can hear the speaker the best.

TMobile converted to international. My call quality was poor until I turned off wifi calling. Haven't tried VoLTE yet, normal calls sound great.

Who has the time to actually make phonecalls these days? If someone calls me, lol, I'm looking for nearest Bluetooth earbud so that I can actually continue whatever I was working on. BTW, phone's upper speaker is great! Please check if you have voice over lte and wifi on.
On T-Mobile and my call quality is great! My girl even mentioned that it sounded much better than my lg v30 before it. I'd have it looked at and possibly replaced. Nothing wrong with this phone's call quality...

I am using the US version from oneplus website. I am on tmobile, I have had no issues with call quality. If anything call quality has improved over my old phone, 5t and pixel 2xl.
I've had no issues at all. Also I purchased mine though OnePlus and I use T Mobile as well.
Hey guys. When in on the phone I constantly can't hear the people I'm calling or they can't hear me. It seems like a dropped call sometimes but they usually comeback. Sometimes it completely drops all the sound but I'm still connected. Any solution for this? I use it on mint mobile or T-Mobiles networks.

Unless you do not need Volte, check if you have Mint APN selected.
U1 has volte enabled by default.
