Hey everyone.
Since yesterday my phone makes clicky noises everytime i start up the camera. When looking at it, the lower camera seems to have detached itself and moves around when I activate it. Not sure if it was always like that or the camera has actually unglued itself.
Would it be possible for someone to record their camera while they open the app so that I can compare it to mine?
Thanks in advance,
IG

Hello, I have recently noticed that my phone (HTC TP, ROM 1.90.404.1) takes odd pictures, I think it has something to do with the frequency and/or intensity of the light that comes from the object you're taking a picture of.
I have added a photo that I took, in the picture you see a lamp aimed at the ceiling. Note the weird colors.
I only have this problem with the 3.2 MP camera on the back, the camera on the front of the device is fine. Now I didn't buy the phone for it's camera quality, so it doesn't bother me that much. But I'm still curious.
Does anyone know whats going on?
regardles if you bought it for the camera function or not.
the camera function is on youre phone and it should work.
looks like youre camera doesnt work goed, so if it was my phone, i brought it back for repair.
Bump.
E-mailed HTC via the support site, waiting for a reply.
I don't want to have to hard reset
Anyone got any ideas?
This is probably a faulty device. I'd return it.
The photo looks normal to me
Did you store any kind of mind-driving / psychidelic substances near your Touch Pro?
Well a hard reset did not fix it.
I suppose I'll start looking into the return policy/warranty while I wait for a reply from HTC.
OK well another update.
The good news is I figured out what is causing it.
The problem is the IR filter or rather lack thereof. I asked around and someone told me I should aim a remote control at the lens, press buttons and see what happens. Well I see a nice bright flash on my screen whenever I press a button
Now how to fix it. I think placing a simple IR-filter in front of the lens might do the trick.
Looks like the hardware is fine.

This is not your problem. ALL digital cameras do the same 'trick', even my 12 MegaPixel super Olympus i've just got. I've even used this behavior to help fix a broken remote a few years back.

Awww but the effect seemed the same. So maybe it's still something to do with the frequency?

Looks Poloraized, bad senor if u ask me.
My nexus camera seems to be broken. The lens constantly moves and shifts around, making non stop clicking. I can't take videos because doing a simple pan results in a shakey video that jumps up down or shakes sideways.
Has anyone else experienced this with their nexus? Is this a hardware problem or the camera focus issue people are talking about? Because this is really bad, worse than just getting unfocused photos..
Edit: I'm thinking my image stabilization is picking up wrong input and trying to correct the lens for no reason resulting in the constant shifting.
From my understanding IS is either working or not, so if the OIS controller was broken I'd get no image stabilization, so it could be software (not just the camera app, something in the internals of the system)
Does anyone have an idea what is wrong and how to fix this?
Is the cell repair shop using oem products to replace?

I 100% agree with this. Mine is completely clean with no problems - no sounds or anything.
Hi,
Was wondering if any of you could shed some light on your personal experience with the click sounds that the OIS and auto focus feature that the camera makes on the S7.
I am aware that the OIS can rattle when the camera is off. This goes away when turning on the camera but my concern was mainly that I hear a very audible 'click' sound whenever opening the default camera app.
Visually I can see the autofocus lens slot back into place i believe it becomes magnetically charged when active and when inactive swings around loosely. I did check with a few friends who own the same phone and they also have the rattle when moving the phone but I could not hear any sound when opening the camera app.
Is this normal behaviour to make a click sound when the camera app is opened. It is definitely the lens locking into its position but compared to other S7's something just doesn't seem right. It sounds too 'loud'. Is it possible to have loosened.
The camera and all its features operate completely normally.
My phone is still within the 1 year warranty so I'm debating to go into Samsung or just ignore it if it is normal behaviour..
Hope I could get some insight
Cheers
Just tried it. When I shake my S7 Edge (camera turned off) I can hear the OIS elements. When I simply start the camera I am not hearing anything at all.
Looking at it further whenever placing the phone down onto a table or flat surface, the 'lens' thing falls with gravity to the bottom of the camera encased area, if I pick it up and turn on the camera it will click like its locking into focus (i can physically see it spring backward). If however I hold the phone pointing vertical (to the ceiling) the 'lens' thing will fall backward with gravity and whenever activating the camera it makes no sound. So maybe it has come more 'loose' then it should? I don't even know if that's possible. I have dropped the phone a few times here and there but who doesn't? The phone is in a tech21 impact protection case and not a single scratch on the phone itself. Never have dropped it or even used it without the case... I know its normal for movement but this seems excessive.
Are the OIS elements known to become weak and loose after a while? Everything still operates perfectly.
Same thing as on S6, nothing to worry about if everything works fine.
When my front camera pops up , a CLICK kind of sound is coming , seems as if some thing is obstructing camera from poping up . While camera going down no such sound is coming. Any suggestion is welcomed. TIA
P.S. I have never dropped my mobile till now, and from past two months no such sound or clicky feel was there from front camera.
Hello
The sound of mechanism is normal. No worries

Are you sure ? Because I am sure there was no such noise before.
I think mine does the same sound, it must be normal.
no click here, or same little noise popping up/down
Send a video with front camera movement
You can set the sound when to pop up the front camera to others see whether it has any issues
I received my phone today, and while I'm generally quite happy with it, there's one thing that really bugs me; the camera motor is really, really loud while the sensor is moving. Could I please ask anyone who has the phone to confirm whether it's supposed to sound like this?
I've shot a video from another phone to try and capture the sound it makes here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/2HVQRVtiQVjEGnBk6
I moved the module manually by pressing and holding the camera switch button and moving up and down, but it also makes quite a bit of noise when just pressing it as well.
It's also very noticeable when capturing a video from the device itself: https://photos.app.goo.gl/1cQmbBMFjHEtnNfy5
Like above I moved the sensor manually, but I suspect things like motion tracking won't work very well due to it capturing the audio of the motor.
Wow, thanks for letting us hear what it sounds like. Helps me as I start to collect various "issues" from other end users.

They sound like sound effects used for alien invasion type of movies .
Hmm hope by the time it is released on the US it doesnt have most of the issues happening
yeah i had been using it the past month and noticed the same. There is a Flip Camera sound feature in the options but didnt seem to make a difference on my end.

Faulty unit
So I spoke with Asus support, and according to them these noises are completely normal, so yeah, I don't know. Because of this I've now returned it to the shop I bought it from as this really was a deal-breaker for me.

Thanks for the link! That does sound far more acceptable. I had a look at a few video reviews before ordering it, and none of them mentioned anything about the noises my unit had - that's why I was curious if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. But it definitely sounds like my unit was faulty, and that it shouldn't sound nearly as bad as it did.
I bet ASUS never actually bothered to watch/listen to the videos I sent them and instead just said it's normal and hoped I wouldn't mind.

Hello, my flip camera also has weird sound (alien) when I adjust the position using volume keys. However, I think that this is normal due to the motorized mechanisms.
Edit: I looked at your video and my unit has the same sound.
Just bought a used ZF6, my camera motor has the same loud Noises as the OP in videos.
It's when they stop making sounds that you need to worry...
