LG V50 Millitary Grade Certification - LG V50 ThinQ Questions & Answers

I've noticed that our V50 has some kind of military grade certifications. Could this be the reason we don't have access to bootloader unlock?

Screen Repair on LS996 bought from ebay

I bought the phone like many others on this site did, off of a dealer on ebay. The seller wasn't an authorized LG outlet, but seemed reputable. So now that I've had the phone for awhile, I've notice some significant discoloration on the screen, and a large dead pixel.
LG's website says there's a year long manufacturers warranty on the Flex 2, but I don't know if it would apply. Anyone have any experience with this? If I sent it in for a replacement, would it be free? I need some info because LG's site isn't giving me any.
Thanks!

Which phone?

Hello,
Long story short my G3 has failed me and LG are paying me a settlement since they won't replace it due to lack of stock so I'm looking to buy a new device under the £300 mark!
So far I'm debating on the OnePlus 3 or the Moto X Style (Currently £299.99 from the Moto site). Any other suggestions would be great.
Thanks.

Which LG G Flex 2 Variant to Buy

Hello all
I am going to buy the LG G Flex 2 since it have a great discounted price at the moment
But I am confused between the different variants available, in particular H950, H955 and F510.
All of these three variants support the LTE bands for my carrier. I know that H955 does not have 3 gb of ram so it is out for me.
Now between H950 and F510, are both having 3gb of RAM? what about update to Marshmallow? Is root possible?
I would appreciate your help since I could not come up with these information from internet/XDA search
i would advise u to NOT buy the flex 2.
my flex 2 died at the start of this month didn't even work for a year it was complete stock n never dropped. its stuck in a bootloop n boots normally only when charging so it seems like its a hardware problem. also there are no customs roms for this device n it seems like the support for this device will soon die thanks to the locked bootloader. u r better off buying a s6, s7, oneplus 3T if possible. i bought the s7 edge n it rocks. its better to stay away from lg for the time being. the g4 g5 v10 v20 flex 2 according to various blogs, posts, sites these models are prone to bootloop.
This phone it's only good if you wanna get looks from people. If you want performance, get another phone. When you try to load something like a game of even a video on youtube, it gets hot. No unlocked bootloader. The only root posibility is on android 5.1 (from my opinion, 5.1 UI sucks).
I would advise you to not buy this phone.
The 2GB Ram versions don't have enough Ram. (In my opinion.)
The 3GB H950, is totally screwed by AT&T. :crying:
The phone also has lots of hardware issues with screens and overheating.
If you have money, got for the One Plus 3/T, if you don't have money, something like the Huawei P9 Lite is great. :victory:

Lg g6 new or LG v30 used.

I am hoping that some can help me decide between buying a new LG g6, or a used LG v30.
The upside of a new g6 is that I won't have any problems with a new device so that's the inherent upside.
The upside of the lgv30 is the massive 128GB storage, faster cpu, better camera, bettery battery.
The downside of getting a used one is it can have screen burn in, potentially a pretty degraded battery, and other unforseen problems, and it costs more a little bit more. The seller gives it a 9/10 and 30 day refund though. People have said it is really a sprint variant named: ls 998 that has been converted to a us 998, is that fine for carriers like T-Mobile and Att? Will I be able to root it?
Here is g6
No link allowed but it's $140 T-Mobile variant factory unlocked
Here is lt v30 (I'm assuming it's the v30+?)
No link allowed, but it's $160 factory unlocked.

Did I buy a real V50 / V450VM (Verizon/US)? (Edit: Nope)

Not sure if this is the right place to post or not but I just bought what was supposed to be a "new" LG V50 (V450VM) Verizon model on Ebay When I received it it was in a V50 Box with "KT" (Not Verizon), with a generic serial number/IMEI/UPC label on it. It said made in Korea but no manufacture date. The box was not sealed, but the V50 had a screen protector on it that looked untouched. The accessories are complete although the headphone box had obviously been open before.
I have turned it on and it acts like a V50. The V50 FW that came preloaded was 20d, which dates from July 2020, which is likely well after the phone was actually built. So that makes me suspicious it's been cross flashed or refurbished in some way and sold as new. I'm not in a hurry to put my Verizon SIM in it in case of issues. I am also concerned it will not eventually take the Android 11 update if I decide to try to upgrade, although that will depend when and if KDZs become available for that. (as I know some unscrupulous sellers cross flash models that then basically get orphaned)
Swappa's IMEI checker shows it as a V450VM correctly, IMEI.Guru's site says model unknown.
I'm mostly concerned that it's not a real V50 and will not last like a real V50 or perform like one. Are there any obvious red flags here? Other things to check? or is this likely just some 'new' but repackaged surplus V450VM? (It was a seller in the US, not one of the Chinese sellers who I purposely avoided hoping to not have a situation like this) I have not yet contacted the seller to ask what's happening in case I'm just being too suspicious/picky.
Thanks!
Replying to myself to add that I discovered the 5G logo/light on the back of the phone matches the photos online of the *Sprint* model (5 slightly above G) and not the Verizon model (with the 5G and a checkmark). So this has been crossflashed at some point in its life and is definitely not a true V450VM.
Requested a return from the seller, hopefully this will not become a mess. I wish I would have caught this issue faster.

It seems a lot of these exist out there... a lot of V50 "open box" or "new sealed in box" on ebay... problem is... doesn't matter if it's a US Seller, many of these Chinese sellers seem to set up shop in the US or have a partner who buys them in bulk and sells them.
I'm questioning whether I should get one or not..... as long as it's rootable to put a custom ROM, the cameras work like OEM hardware, and the DAC is legit.... I think I'm ok with it... But only someone with experience could probably chime in.
Is it worth while getting one of these "grey" market V50's from China?
