Screen Repair on LS996 bought from ebay - LG G Flex 2

I bought the phone like many others on this site did, off of a dealer on ebay. The seller wasn't an authorized LG outlet, but seemed reputable. So now that I've had the phone for awhile, I've notice some significant discoloration on the screen, and a large dead pixel.
LG's website says there's a year long manufacturers warranty on the Flex 2, but I don't know if it would apply. Anyone have any experience with this? If I sent it in for a replacement, would it be free? I need some info because LG's site isn't giving me any.
Thanks!

How long did it take LG to repair/replace your phone?

For those who sent your phone to LG directly (Stellar Wireless) for a repair/replace, how long did it take them to get a phone back to you?

It took me about a week for them to repair it once they received it. I sent from NY to Texas Priority US Mail on Monday. They received by Wednesday. They fixed it by the following Wednesday and i received it back by that Saturday three days later. They are pretty speedy.
One thing I would stress though is that you do not want a refurbished phone. I have read somewhere on the internet that if LG sends you a refurbished phone that you cannot update it to Gingerbread for some reason. I cannot confirm that this is true but that's what I've heard.
I am kind of pissed off at them my self. They did send my original phone back to me but they said if worse case they can not fix it, they will send a refurbished one. I told them F no. I paid full price with tax $600 and I expect either my phone or a brand new one if the repair can't be made. I would have purchased a refurb off ebay for half that. They claim that refurb is just as good. I say bullshyt. A refurb is someone else's probem that they finally fixed but couldn't fix at the time of that persons mail in. And besides, if a refurb was the same, then LG or the Tmobile store that I have originally purchased the phone from would have given me a brand new one on the spot. Suck it. Don't accept a refurb. They did not budge though. They said repair or refurb. Good Luck with LG Scum. They did fix the restarting issue, but when I got it back I have a GPS Lock on issue.
Thanks! I sent my phone by Priority Mail last Monday and they got it Wednesday, so I guess I'm looking at getting it back by next weekend.
I sent mine to them on a Thursday they got it that Friday (one state away). Just got it back today (Thursday. There turn around time seemed very quick to me. It has the latest version and baseband on it. It however is not the phone I sent them.
I sent mine off July 22 via FedEx and just got it back today. Oddly enough, the repair ticket enclosed with my phone said they replaced the touch screen and the reason for the repair was a faulty touch button. The actual reason was because the LG Tool erased my baseband after it said I had a successful update so I couldn't use the T-Mo network, only wireless.
Not sure where the faulty Touch button information came from, but I guess it's good I got a new touchscreen if something showed up during their "quality" check. I checked the IMEI and Serial Numbers, and they match my original box, so it's the same phone repaired, not a refurb swap.
It seems to be working ok so far, so I'll know for sure in a few days.
LG employee here- Refurb is kind of a misleading term. I deal directly with Stellar and providing them parts, and when they say refurb, it might as well be a new phone. I mean, they replace a lot of stuff and run it through a gang of tests. Do things slip through the cracks? Absolutely. But, in all honesty, by the time they get done with refurbishing a phone, it is just as good as a new phone. Now, if you go through some further removed 3rd party refurb centers, you will see issues, but Stellar is in the same building as us, so we keep a pretty tight watch over their work.

I was fortunate enough to get mine fixed by the Stellar folks, and what great work they did. I thought I had a pretty decent phone before the fix, but now it is pure fantastic. So far no unexplained reboots or other oddities and I have really been putting it through its paces.
Please pass along my thanks to the "stellar" Stellar Wireless Technology techs.

[Q] Replacement Dock and Tablet Despite Unlock?

Will Best Buy give me a replacement dock and tablet if I cite the dock malfunction despite my having unlocked the tablet?
I have a similar question here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646723
I think we should be OK to unroot & wipe... **waits for confirmation!**
You unlocked the boatloader?
You've officially lost warranty.
Though, you can allways hope they wont notice..
but thats losing warranty with asus. not best buy, i doubt anyone at bestbuy is smart enough to know anything about it and best buys warranty doesnt say anything about stuff like that. simply, its broke, we replace..
Best Buy Warranty
This depends... if you didn't purchase an extended warranty through them they honor the terms of the manufacturer's warranty. How this is carried out varies from product to product and vendor to vendor. In some cases, the vendor agreement essentially replaces the item out right. In the worst form, the product gets sent back to a manufacturer's authorized service center. Sometimes this is the manufacturer and other times is a third party. I do agree that it is unlikely that anyone at the store level would notice the unlocked bootloader however it may get noticed at the service center.
If you purchased the extended warranty, then most likely the product will not be serviced and it will be replaced.
I will admit that it has been 2 years since I worked in the warranty fulfillment capacity with that company so things may have changed some. Either way I'm glad to have a real job. Hope this helps.
Meh. If they're anything like Walmart, they probably won't even turn it on. I returned 2 tablets to Walmart, and the only hassle I got was from taking the S/N sticker off the second one, and they still took it back.
Does the device say "unlocked" at boot? I just swapped my 16gb for a 32gb and they definitely turned it on to confirm it works.
If it doesn't say unlocked anywhere than I doubt they'd notice.

The device does indeed say that it's unlocked at boot... Will Best Buy actually notice and know what to make of it?

LG won't fix "green blob" issue

So after getting my LG G4 back to AT&T stock 10o, LG won't honor the warranty on the camera, because they claim there is a scratch in the screen. From HowardForums, it seems like this is a common ploy. I don't think there is even a scratch, it's most likely the cracked screen protector I (stupidly) left on there.
LG phone support is just a bunch of guys reading scripts, no help.
Anyone had this issue? Any solution?

Personally, I'd just buy a replacement camera, you can find them on eBay for around $15, then just replace it. Looks easy enough to do.

I could, but of course that lets LG off the hook and really invalidates my warranty.

Can't you just have at&t swap it out with a refurb? If it's an at&t phone and you have a warranty service center nearby you can have it swapped out same day. And I know people hate refurbs by you either get the remainder of warranty or 90 days, whichever is longer so it's as good as new.
If not you can call customer service and get a replacement from the mail. At&t has been really good to me over the years with cs, even sold us a galaxy s5 for $99 after my wife's gs5 active sustained water damage, and assurion denied the claim because insurance was removed from our account due to their error, and even though they added it back with an override, assurion used the service records to determine the phone hadn't been used since a 2 day's before insurance was added. Was a bad situation but they made it right.
Not surprised from LG at least my experience has been that all Asian companies are shady with warranty claims

LG G5 dead

Hey guys, i was using my LG G5 i bought from swappa for about 10 days, everything was smooth, no problems at all, i was liking a lot, so today i was hanging out with my family, we took lots of pictures and because of that i ran out of battery. When i got home, put it to charge and to my surprise, nothing happens at all. I swapped batteries, chargers, cables... eletric.. nothing work.
Since im new to this, i dont know what to do in order to get a replacement, so i have some questions.
1. I bought from swappa as i told, is there a problem if i dont have a receipt?
2. how can i proceed? i live outside USA, so i was thinking about send the phone to a friend that lives in MIami... Do i have to mail the phone to verizon or i can get a replacement at any Verizon store?
Thanlks!

The only thing I can think of is to contact the seller who you purchased from, most warranty is only valid for first hand buyer or the original owner, also that you have mentioned about the phone being verizon, you have to be a current subscriber to verizon to have them warrant the repair, and I think the phone should be register to the first owner, so you are out of luck.
damn it

Hey man I just want to give you the correct information since the other person that posted gave you the wrong info. The phone you have gets a one year warranty, IT DOES NOT MATTER if you are the 1st owner or the 20th owner as long as you contact the right company for the warranty replacement they will send you a replacement for free. Now before you do that make sure they're is NO water damage or any other physical damage what so ever, they won't cover it if there is physical damage. Let them know it will not turn on and send it in. That simple. I used to work for Verizon and other cell phone companies. The warranty is on the phone for the 1st year and covers software issue and manufacturers defects. In your case it could be either. I would contact the seller you got it from, get the information you need to call it in for the warranty replacement and that's it. I hope this helps and I apologize you got the wrong information first.

yeah some misinformation here. The 12 Month Manufacture Warranty is still there. Just if you do not have a receipt they go by manufacture date.
You do not need to go through verizon. Just tell them you had verizon but left so it would be awckward to go back in. They will warranty just as long as no water damage or physical damage.
I standby for what I have said, in theory warranty only covers the 12 months with issue of receipt and is a first hand buyer, you can read this in the warranty provided with the phone, or you can contact verizon for these information, that being said, how they actually deal with the problem is another thing and if they phone has already been registered with the first owner, they can check this if they ask you for your personal information and if the information is a mismatch, they can reject any warranty.
For anyone viewing this thread, kms108's info is wrong. I had the same situation happen to me - bought phone on Swappa and died within a week. Contacted LG and they took the phone for repair with no receipt. LG's ****ty repair service is a whole another issue..

Is Repairs Universe a trustworthy site?

I am repairing a Nexus 6 for a friend and figured I would replace the aging battery as well. I contacted Motorola and Google for two painful hours only to be told there is no way they can get me an OEM battery. I have bought "OEM" batteries on eBay in the past and quickly learned that there are more low quality fakes than legitimate OEM batteries there. I came across the site "Repairs Universe" which seems legitimate. They claim to have only OEM parts, and reviews from various sites were mostly good. Some sites praising Repairs Universe, a few slamming it. I placed an order for the battery and received it today. The battery is shaped the same, though the writing on it is completely different and basically generic (model number, caution information, mAh) and lacking any kind of branding. I called Repairs Universe only to get a message about it being faster to contact them online, and then an eventual beep. It was a voicemail! I called again later and actually got a person. He said that all of their products are "OEM compliant" not OEM. He told me this just means it has the same specifications as the original part. This seems obvious to me, as anything would be compliant so long as its the same shape and size.
Obviously, I'm confused. I'm not sure if this is a good, honest company or not. Mainly, I'm worried that my battery could be a knock-off and catch fire or swell up. I can't find it anywhere else however so this is my only option aside from just using the aging original battery. The company does offer a 30 day guarantee, but only for the battery; if it explodes and takes the phone and my friend's hand out with it, they'll refund me 22 bucks...if it happens within the first 30 days.
Does anyone have any experience with this site, specifically, their batteries? I'm not looking for other sites (not yet, only once we figure out what the general consenses of Repairs Universe is.)
Thank you!!
I actually got my answer. I've been testing the battery for a week and it lasts half as long as the original which is almost two years old. I contacted them about it, and they told me I could return it, but I'd have to pay for return shipping plus would not be refunded the original shipping. Once the return is all said and done, I'll have gotten $4 back from the $22 I spent.
Don't shop with them! Turns out OEM and OEM compliant are not the same quality at all.
I know this post is old, but I wanted to share my experience with this company to make others aware. Yes, they provide repair tutorials and whatnot, in my opinion to encourage people to buy from them and it worked for me. I trusted them to send me a replacement for my phone screen. I had performed the same repair on my husband's phone a few years earlier with no problems (Samsung Note 8). The screen they sent did not work out of the box. That's beside the point, though. I did as their website said and sent it back at my expense, no big deal. I trusted them to send a replacement. Nope, they said it was my fault and kept my money AND the phone screen. I again did as their website said and immediately requested for them to send me the defective part back. Email was ignored, even though it went through, so they did not do as their site states. We're talking over $200. In the meantime, the battery replacement I had purchased from them and installed in my husband's phone not 3 mos prior to this, swelled and fried his motherboard. I had to buy another motherboard off of Ebay to fix that. Just wanted to share my experience.
One more thing, I have all the documentation to back this up. Please be aware of Repairs Universe. Make sure you closely read their terms and conditions if you do decide to purchase from them. They hide behind that and make it impossible to return or exchange something.
