Outlook notifications to Samsung Gear watch broken on Note 10 - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Questions & Answers

I utilize Microsoft Outlook at work and rely heavily on the Focused Inbox feature. On previous Note phones that I have used, including versions 7, 8 and 9, I also enjoyed using the Android version of Outlook with notifications of the Focused inbox to my Gear S3 watch working perfectly. That is no longer the case with the Note 10 series that has the Microsoft office apps baked in. It is no longer possible to send notifications of Outlook emails to my Gear watch with a new Note 10+ that I use, and after dealing with Samsung customer service trying to resolve this problem, their only solution at the end was to wait until a promised update to the phone Outlook app that they say should hit sometime in the next month or 2.
This is very frustrating, as it makes the Gear watch almost useless to me until the update. And the odd thing is that notifications to my Garmin Fenix 5 watch work fine.

The same thing happened to me..
Upgraded from the Note 9 to the 10+ and outlook to my S3 Frontier no longer works :/

I have been emailing Outllok support and they seem to know nothing about the issue.
I have tried uninstalling and re installing.
Nothing works

I am currently using Outlook and I do not have this issue. I have focus inbox turned off though.

Samsung Gear S2 no notification on text messages and emails

Help please, I'm not receiving notifications on text messages and emails nor hangouts and fb messenger. I'm using Xiaomi Mi4i, Lollipop 5.0.2. What should I do? I'm becoming desperate. I already did the light reset and factory reset but still I have the same problem. I also signed in my Samsung account. PLease helpppp... thanks in advance
Assuming that your using hangouts for SMS, you need to install the Android Wear app. Make sure that in the Samsung Gear app your apps are selected for notifications.
I'm not using hangout as my default sms. but I'm not receiving any sms nor email notifications. I already downloaded Android App, how do I pair it with gear s2? whats the procedure?.. Thanks for the reply..

There is no need for pairing with the Android app, it just needs to exist. Have you checked the Notifications in the Gear app to insure you're allow notification from particular apps?

Download android wear, then open Gear manager on your Phone, open Notification and make sure hangouts is checked (in my case I checked everything) then restart your phone and your gear s2 and connect gear s2 to your phone. It should work now. thanks!

What do you mean 'download android wear'? This is Tizen based, nothing to do with Android Wear. As far as I know you need Samsung Gear app on your phone. Am I missing something here?

Downloading the Android Wear app onto your phone from the Play Store can extend support for certain apps like hangout, etc. Even on Tizen. It doesn't replace the Samsung Gear app, but it can complement it.

Thanks, I will try, did not know the Android Wear app was compatible with Samsung Gear watches.
Must admit I realised today emails and texts rarely notify on my S6.
Gear s2 message forwading
Talked to Samsung rep today. He said the lg v10 is not on the list of supported devices and should be soon with a new update in the weeks to come which should enable text message forwarding to the v10. He recommended a 3rd party app from the play store called textra sms. It works to forward texts and reply as well.. You need to make it your primary sms app and select it under the gear manager notification setting in the gear app.
Thank you webberfan. I have the lg v10 (love it, not going back lol), and textra is working great and forwarding them to my gear s2.
Glad i found this thread!
I am getting hangouts notifications, and I did not install the android wear app. I just gave permissions to the Hangouts app to show notifications.
I decided to go back to Verizon and try another watch and the second one is working near perfect. It has not missed a single notification, knock on wood. It seems the first one was bad. I should have know when I had to reset it almost immediately when the heart rate monitor and steps would not function. So far so good with the new one.
Thank you

Not getting notifications other than calls
I am facing this issue. The above proposed solution doesn't work for me. I am getting only calls in my Gear S2. I am not getting any other notification in my Gear S2. I am using Redmi Note 4

Mail count incorrect

Title pretty much says it all!
On my phone (Note 4) the unread mail count is currently one. On the S2, it is twenty-eight. Scrolling through the mail on the S2, I can see emails that I deleted days ago. Am I perhaps missing something from the settings?
(The emails relate to gmail and Google Apps mail)
Many thanks
KJ
I have the same exact issue. I emailed Samsung and they told me to do a factory reset to correct the issue as they have not heard of this bug from the latest update. A factory reset did NOT correct the issue. I believe the latest update caused the issue but convincing Samsung is another story. I was going to call them on Friday to see what the story is but does anyone else know what is going on here?
So I contacted Samsung technical support and they asked me to resync my bluetooth connection with my phone. Basically you just disconnect the gear s2 from the phone and hit connect again in the gear manager. It seemed to have worked for the first email deleted but not for any subsequent emails. I just tried it again and it is actually not working at all.
Because this is not a "software issue" they claim, the watch would need to be sent for repairs. I don't know what else to do but I'm not sending off the watch for repairs. If you are experiencing this issue, please call Samsung because they do not believe this is an issue and let us know here. If you AREN'T experiencing this please let us know as well...
The issue is that when you delete an email from your watch, it will delete from the phone CORRECTLY. However, if you delete an email from your PHONE it will not automatically delete it from the watch... causing you to have to manage the deletions on your watch manually. This was working prior to a software update recently.

I am not having the same issue, if I delete my email from the phone it does delete it on the watch. It will not delete it from the watch when I am connected remotely though, but it does remove it once I get back on bluetooth. This is exchange email through the normal android email system. Have you also tried deleting the email on either outlook or the web client and see if it updates the phone and watch that way?
One thing I do notice though that does throw my mail number off at times. If I do not receive the notification on my phone then I do not get that email on my watch. So far no matter what it doesn't seem to sync back to it. The only instance I have ran into with this is if I have my email application open and a new email comes in. Because the email app is open it never does a notification to my phone so the watch never gets it.

Thanks for the post. I reinstalled Gear Manager and it MAY have fixed the issue. I'm still going through some tests. The only way to get the emails to your watch all the time is to turn off the Limit notifications in Gear Manager > Notifications on your phone. I turned it off for the very reason of getting all the future email to go to the watch.

That's good that you may have got it resolved.
So for mine, I have already turned off the limit notifications option a few days ago. That works good so if I am using my phone the notification will still come to the watch, before I had turned it off if I was using my phone the notification would not come to the watch until my screen on the phone went black.
The problem is that if I actually have my email app opened up on the phone, and an email comes in. The phone doesn't give a notification because I had the app open already and see the email. At this point the watch never gets a notification for that email because the phone never did. So that email never makes it to the email app on the watch. Its almost like the watch didn't see a notification so the email doesn't exist for it.
This is not the same result for text messages, text messages still seem to sync correctly even if I did not actually get that notification on the phone.

Ahhh ok I got ya. If the app is open, no notification, therefore no email on watch. Nice. I wondered why Samsung decided to handle emails like this to begin with. It would have been easier to just read from the phone or something instead of this convoluted sending notifications of future emails. That way I could access all the emails at once as well.
Yeah I agree, not sure what the thoughts were with it either. Owell, hopefully they will have some tweaks to it. The good thing is that it really isn't a big concern. If I already saw the email on my phone before the notification came in then I'm not that concerned about seeing it on my watch. The situation just won't come up very often as I don't just stare at my email app waiting for emails to come in haha. Just more of thought it was an interesting way they did things. Would be nice to know how that back end for that is working.
Either way, maybe it is because it is my first smart watch, but so far I'm still loving it even with some bugs and a lack of apps.
I just got a s2 classic, I am experiencing the same issue, I delete the messages from my phone, and they still show on the watch, I have tried removing gear from my phone and reinstalling, but it did not work, I still have the same issue.
any other people have this issue and have any other advice on fixing it.
thanks

Samsung Email App

I've been looking for several days for a solution to this problem and haven't found any answers. I just bought the Galaxy S7 about 2 weeks ago. I was using a Samsung Galaxy J7 prior to that, and had been using an iPhone for 3 years prior to that, (I do enjoy both OS's).
Here's my problem. When I had the J7 I had 4 email address connected to the Samsung email app that comes on the phone. Two outlook.com email address and 2 work email addresses. They all worked great with zero problems at all.
On the S7, my work emails work fairly well, but I can not for the life of me get the outlook.com email address to work at all. It will sit on the "connecting to servers" screen for nearly 5 minutes before it times out.
I can use the outlook app no problem....But what the heck is going on? I actually like the native email app. I didn't have problems like this with my iPhone or the J7, but I spent a lot of money on the S7 and want it to work.
Any ideas?
If you have application specific passwords turned on; you will have to generate a password rather than use your default password. Email for Samsung does not use oauth for authentication.

Change the mail server in manual setup from m.hotmail.com to s.outlook.com or eas.outlook.com or - could be even better - outlook.office365.com

Samsung email app disable notifications

Hi guys
I've been using the s3 since launch and it's been fine up until recently. I don't know if this happened when the gear app updated on my phone but lately the email notifications are playing up. I use the Gmail app for my personal mail and the Samsung email app for my exchange work mail.
The way I want it set up is Gmail notifications come through to my watch but work email doesn't. So I have gone in to notifications on the gear app and disabled email. This work fine for a couple of days but then it re enables itself. Does anyone else have a similar problem?
Cheers

Same issue here. The samsung app notification setting keeps kicking back on after I change it. Happens just about every 24 hours. Love to hear a suggestion to correct. Thanks!
Hi jvarny
To be honest I gave up trying to get it to work. I have tried 2 different phone's with both Nougat and Marshmallow Roms but still the same. I've uninstalled Samsung email now and just added my exchange account to Gmail. Works really well for what I use it for.

Hey guys, I use Blackberry Hub for my e-mail accounts and it works fine, I can enable/disable notifications for any of the accounts without kicking back in.
Never used samsung's e-mail app.

GMail not pushing notifications

Hey all,
My family has a family plan with 4 of the J3's (SM-J337 via Vzw). Their phones will not push notifications in GMail. At times, they can get instant notification when an email comes in. The majority of the time, they may get a notification 3-4 hours after the email was sent to them. Most of those times, they are on a laptop or computer and see they have new GMail, but no notification on their phone. When they open the GMail app, it refreshes and sees the new email in the inbox.
Quite an annoyance. Is there a possible fix for this? Is this the way the J3 is designed, maybe a way to preserve battery? I don't even know why this would be built this way, with no option to opt for push notifications. They are all on the same GMail build as me with my S10+, but there literally is no option for push.
I don't want to root/flash 4 phones, although it'd be fun. Just looking for a fix for just this issue, if possible. Or if they need to upgrade phones to get push notifications. This is driving them insane, rightfully so.
TIA for any feedback. :good:
Found the issue through Samsung who confirmed. Figured I'd update just in case anyone searched for the same symptom while it is relevant to this device.
Google has pushed out its latest and greatest GMail to all devices, which is designed to work on Pie. It still works on older versions of Android, but not as designed. For this case, the J3's my family is using is on Oreo and is one of the last Samsung devices that will get Pie. The Galaxy S8 series is slated to get the update next, then the J3 and a few others will get the update.
So basically the J3 will not work correctly with GMail until 9.0 gets pushed.
