Samsung Email App - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I've been looking for several days for a solution to this problem and haven't found any answers. I just bought the Galaxy S7 about 2 weeks ago. I was using a Samsung Galaxy J7 prior to that, and had been using an iPhone for 3 years prior to that, (I do enjoy both OS's).
Here's my problem. When I had the J7 I had 4 email address connected to the Samsung email app that comes on the phone. Two outlook.com email address and 2 work email addresses. They all worked great with zero problems at all.
On the S7, my work emails work fairly well, but I can not for the life of me get the outlook.com email address to work at all. It will sit on the "connecting to servers" screen for nearly 5 minutes before it times out.
I can use the outlook app no problem....But what the heck is going on? I actually like the native email app. I didn't have problems like this with my iPhone or the J7, but I spent a lot of money on the S7 and want it to work.
Any ideas?

If you have application specific passwords turned on; you will have to generate a password rather than use your default password. Email for Samsung does not use oauth for authentication.

Change the mail server in manual setup from m.hotmail.com to s.outlook.com or eas.outlook.com or - could be even better - outlook.office365.com

Since mail2web went pay-only...

...I've been using IMAP to get my gmail. But I have a serious problem!
Unlike activesync push email, I can't find a setting to restrict the times the phone checks for email. This is a problem, because it wakes me up at random times with spam or newsletter emails!
Other than muting the phone before bed, which might cause me to miss an emergency phone call, what can I do?
Try Seven Beta, they do push for Gmail and all the others as well.
Or try Windows Live (forward gmail to Live).
Seven doesn't require you to forward it anywhere, and it will work for your Live account as well.
the only thing is Seven doesn't work . Really, i have been trying all day, and sometimes it can't "communicate with base", emails never come or come 10 minutes later... It has been a blast for me. They did sent me an email that they had a problem, i guess their problem still continues.

They have been having server issues recently, it is all detailed on the forum. It is only to be expected from a Beta product that there will be issues form time to time. Before anyone asks i have no connection to them apart from being a fairly satisfied end user.
I think the best thing to do is create a Live account (microfot) and redirect by copying automaticaly all your mail from all your accounts to this new one.
Like live use http connection, you can have a free push mail service.
And i tried seven beta but it uses lot of ressources and when I'm in the Metro "The french tube", i've not always the network. Then if he can't connect just one time, i have to re-write my password.
How's the battery when using live.com push service? Currently I'm using mail2web, I'm not sure why my account still works altough I'm not paying for it. The battery life so far is very good. But when using seven, it seems the battery drains faster than using exchange for push mail.

Default email app broken?

Hello all,
Received my Nexus 5 yesterday. And it appears the changes they've made to the new default email app have broken Exchange support. I've found a couple of other similar topics but non describing my exact issue.
My note 2 works perfectly with my Exchange 2010 account. When I try and set it up on the Nexus 5 (either using autodiscover or manual setup) I just get the error "Couldn't connect, Couldn't sign in".
I've tried it on other non 4.4 devices and it works perfectly. Anyone having this issue or know how to contact google about it?
my exchange mail with stock email app works, so it must be exchange settings that are the issue for those with problems
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app

Ditto
My company decided to add some security policies to Exchange (must have screen lock security, encrypted, etc.). After they implemented all these policies, the stock Android email client stopped working for me. I have to use an alternative program like Touchdown ($20 freakin dollars ) otherwise I have to encrypt my phone which I don't want to do
My email syncs when I first setup the account, but it never syncs again. Swipe to refresh, menu>refresh, Settings>accounts>sycn, none of those pull any of my new messages down. I know everything is entered correctly since it pulls all my messages the first time when I set it up. I've tried deleting the account and setting it up 4 or 5 times now. Anybody else having this issue?
I have mine setup and its working correctly. It did require some more setup than the old app did though.

[Q] Limit no. of IMAP emails download

Hi guys,
I've found several mails around my issue but none solved out my exact issue:
I want to use the stock email app to connect to my IMAP account but since I'm using that account for several years now, it hold round about 6000 mails in the Inbox. Thus I would like to limit the no. of downloaded emails. Its working with Exchange-accounts (by defining a limitation by days) and I could even swear that it worked for IMAP out of the box (I'm not sure though that there was a switch to define the no. of days that I would like to receive).
But now, after I started to set up my phone from scratch: As soon as I finish setting up my account, the Nexus starts leeching Gigs of mails to the phone.
I know about K9, but I'm interested in a solution with the stock app as I'm sure it was working before.
Thanks for you help.

Samsung email app disable notifications

Hi guys
I've been using the s3 since launch and it's been fine up until recently. I don't know if this happened when the gear app updated on my phone but lately the email notifications are playing up. I use the Gmail app for my personal mail and the Samsung email app for my exchange work mail.
The way I want it set up is Gmail notifications come through to my watch but work email doesn't. So I have gone in to notifications on the gear app and disabled email. This work fine for a couple of days but then it re enables itself. Does anyone else have a similar problem?
Cheers

Same issue here. The samsung app notification setting keeps kicking back on after I change it. Happens just about every 24 hours. Love to hear a suggestion to correct. Thanks!
Hi jvarny
To be honest I gave up trying to get it to work. I have tried 2 different phone's with both Nougat and Marshmallow Roms but still the same. I've uninstalled Samsung email now and just added my exchange account to Gmail. Works really well for what I use it for.

Hey guys, I use Blackberry Hub for my e-mail accounts and it works fine, I can enable/disable notifications for any of the accounts without kicking back in.
Never used samsung's e-mail app.

Outlook notifications to Samsung Gear watch broken on Note 10

I utilize Microsoft Outlook at work and rely heavily on the Focused Inbox feature. On previous Note phones that I have used, including versions 7, 8 and 9, I also enjoyed using the Android version of Outlook with notifications of the Focused inbox to my Gear S3 watch working perfectly. That is no longer the case with the Note 10 series that has the Microsoft office apps baked in. It is no longer possible to send notifications of Outlook emails to my Gear watch with a new Note 10+ that I use, and after dealing with Samsung customer service trying to resolve this problem, their only solution at the end was to wait until a promised update to the phone Outlook app that they say should hit sometime in the next month or 2.
This is very frustrating, as it makes the Gear watch almost useless to me until the update. And the odd thing is that notifications to my Garmin Fenix 5 watch work fine.
The same thing happened to me..
Upgraded from the Note 9 to the 10+ and outlook to my S3 Frontier no longer works :/
I have been emailing Outllok support and they seem to know nothing about the issue.
I have tried uninstalling and re installing.
Nothing works
I am currently using Outlook and I do not have this issue. I have focus inbox turned off though.

I made a switch to the mail app because of this reason. Outlook on Android has been suffering for a while with many problems.
