Hello everyone!
I decided to make a thread, where we can discuss the upcoming update for our lovely device Galaxy S9+. Maybe it's too early for this discussion, or not? I hope the moderators don't mind... I'm very excited about the update and a little bit frustrated that we will not get the beta first. I may upgrade to Note 10+, but I'm not yet sure, because I love too much my S9+ - the design, the screen, feels like everything is perfect though. Only miss the wide-angle camera

Breaking: Samsung Galaxy S9 Android 10 update released!
Samsung has released the Android 10 update for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The update is rolling out in Germany at the moment for those who are on Android Pie. Yes, the final build of Android 10 is yet to be released for those who are on the One UI 2.0 beta, though that is probably going to change soon.

From where to download the stock firmware
I see people still asking from where to download it, since @sammobile[/user] need premium acc for faster download. There are a few alternatives that are very easy to use and I thought everyone Samsung fan knows them but it seems I was wrong. Gonna share them here.
1. Updato.com
This is for people who don't want to install any additional software. However, seems full of ads. If that doesn't bother you, use it.
2. SamFirm 0.3.6
It's deprecated but still working though.
3. Frija
This is the most updated with very nice interface. I would recommend it.

Notes, related to the beta builds:
1. I think it was a mention somewhere but will write it here also. Both files are in .bin format. You need to rename them in update .zip so you can flash them through stock recovery.
2. You can't flash it directly if you are rooted, need to be completely sock - this includes the stock recovery. Also, you should be on this firmware G965FXXU7CSK1/G965FOXM7CSJ5/G965FXXU7CSJ5/G965FXXU7CSK1. When new beta's come out you will need to flash them as the way they came out, like beta1->beta2 and etc.
3. The USA and Korean builds are not compatible with the rest models. Be careful what you flash on your device. By the tip to remove them to not lead to confusion, I will separate them below in the spoiler. The authors of the files can feel free to make a new thread about the specific device.

Notes, related to Android 10:
You can't install any more custom fonts on Android 10 unless you are rooted.
Check the Galaxy store for your favorite font. If it's there you can buy it and use it.
Swift Installer, Substratum doesn't work anymore on S9/ S9+ like before.
You need will the Synergy. However for me isn't working at all, so basically I can't use any substratum theme or mod. On the other hand Hex Installer works very well and I will recommend it.
Blocking ads with DNS still working.
Technically, there is no reason to not be able to receive OTA, after flashing stable DBT version with Odin. Just make sure you don't use CSC (use HOME_CSC instead) file to wipe everything and break something with your current CSC. I personally flashed CSC file by mistake, my CSC didn't change it but now I can't receive OTA. No big deal for me will flash it manually when there is a new update.
OTA files won't wipe anything. Some user reports that his phone is wiped after OTA, but this usually is impossible. A good idea is always to make a backup with Smart Switch before any procedure of this kind.

Yes, ROOT is possible on Android 10. Check THIS thread to see the steps for rooting.

I'll stick with my s9+ Exynos Oreo bc it runs perfectly. Smooth. No issues. Just an amazing reliable phone with idan GCam 3.5. What could be so good with android 10 that it's worth upgrading?

I regret having gone on foot
The battery drains very fast, 4 hours of SOT when I go for a 20% battery.
The front camera for some reason overexposes the photos, does not take them as in the preview
I use Gcam, if with that software it is possible to take incredible photos having this fabulous lens, I do not understand how it is possible that Samsung does not take advantage of it by developing a good camera application

I haven't seen anything in Android 10 that would make me want to update as soon as possible. What are you looking forward to? TBH I'd be happy in Oreo lol

lol guys, didn't expect those answers, to be honest I personally, like to stay up to date, trying new stuff, new features. I really enjoyed the android 9 update with OneUI. At the moment, I don't really remember what we can expect in Android 10. But probably would have some nice features. I just hope the battery life to not be worst than now.
Actually we already have some stuff, like the dark mode. So there's wont be much in Android 10 I guess for us. I am more curious what OneUI 2.0 will be. Probably not much changes in visual, but will come with more extras and options for personalizations I think.
I also have UK sim card, so I probably will try to join in the beta program when it's open.
PS
So, It's kinda official.
Samsung has OFFICIALLY started Q Beta builds. I 100% expect a beta program in the next 2 weeks, as
@SamMobiles
reported

Speed. There's evidence for better performance on android 10 compared to 9 or 8

I think it will be a sad day when Android 10 comes to the S9+ because it means the end of support from Samsung. Only 2 years of firmware updates is pathetic especially for a flagship phone Samsung should be more like apple and look after their customers better.

Agreed with you. I feel sad about S8 and Note 8. Such awesome flagships to be left without support...

In theory, the S9/S9+ line had a better chance of getting an extra year of support because of Treble. We all had hoped that with Treble, Samsung would update their phones faster and for more time. But, doesn't seem like Samsung's announced anything that would change what they've been doing up to now. Seems like we'll only be getting 2 years of updates for this phone too. BUT, the slight 1% possibility is still there that we may go beyond that.

My Pixel 2 was update to Android 10. It's more smoothly and the battery life is increased. I feel it!
When first try android 10 on my pixel, Oh man..
How can be my pixel 2 (2017) is more better than my S9+ (2018) even it's 1 years old than the S9+.. LOL
Better in camera, battery life, background apps management, notification management, etc

Well, the answer of why it is better in these aspects only lies in the fact that they are Google's own devices and therefore its software is optimized to the maximum for that team
Android is for the Pixel what is ios for the iphone

Hi brandox,
Yeah, Agreed with you..
But, it's android and it's open sources right?
I think samsung is able to make it more smooth like on pixel devices, it might be they just push more stuff to get different of their devices, and still finding how to make it smooth.
I really like my s9+ the hands on, design, display, except the UI and UX..
It will be better, if they just put an vanilla android, focus to just a camera software, tweaking background task, and security.
just my 2cents..
Have a nice day!

Yep, it's open source. The version given to manufacturers is alone basic without many optimizations, it is already in the hands of the manufacturer what make to do with that system (They could do a better job, but since developers don't get paid enough).
If you're right. Samsung should take care of adjusting only really important applications.

To be fair, if you install AOSP on any Samsung device it will run like butter. It's just that Samsung likes to add too much stuff on their skins (some good, some bad)

Good news guys!
Samsung also started testing Android 10 for Galaxy S9/S9+! The firmware version is G960FXXU7DSI3 and G965FXXU7DSI3. Of course, first in the line will be S10, but that's a good sign, we won't wait much for it <3
Well, it seems the Korean company is not sitting still here either. As the guys at GalaxyClub now confirm, both the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are currently being tested with Google’s latest. Firmware versions G960FXXU7DSI3 and G965FXXU7DSI3 are based on Android 10, as evidenced by the letter ‘D’ which represents the next Android version. Current Android 9-based firmware have a ‘C’ in that same position, after all.
Of course, the Galaxy S9 will simply not be the first Samsung device to get the upgrade. The Galaxy S10 and Note 10 will be upgraded first, logically. We do expect their Android 10 beta to start soon, but that program will need to finish before anything else happens. And even after all that, there is a good chance the Galaxy S9 will first have to go through a beta test of its own, just like the Galaxy S8 did last year before widely receiving Android Pie.

Bought the S9+ with Android Oreo. Was working all fine until some idiot at google decided to link the notification badge count to the notification bar - so from that point, whenever I was swiping the notification in the bar, the unread badge count would go away. A temporary workaround was Nova Launcher + TeslaUnread but even that stopped working correctly at some point a few months ago.
(here is a link that describes the situation : https://forums.androidcentral.com/s...886468-notifications-unread-badge-counts.html )
So my question is: can someone who tested Android 10 on any other device or beta stages comment whether the behaviour stays the same as on Android 9? Thanks.

I just tried my gmail notifications, after that the badge on gmail icon is gone..
Tested on pixel 2 with android 10..

The update for October will change the bootloader version to v7. I guess they preparing us for Android 10 . Also there is some info about Note 9, that will get Android 10 January next year.

The guys from PhoneArena already joined the beta and tested the software. You can see what they saying in the video below. I guess Galaxy S9 / S9+ will join the beta next month.
OneUI 2.0

Custom ROM coming soon!
Kitkat update has been released! Build number: G6-20140929-144358,2014093
kitkat G6-20140929 download: https://cloud.mail.ru/public/3670a7a4ef72/G6-20140929-1443584.4.zip
been using 4.4 for a few hours and already it seems pretty good. RAM usage is good and xposed works!
The battery, dimensions and dual speakers are what interest me most. When comparing to the Note 3, this is just 5mm taller and has an extra 300mah in the battery.
Anyone else have this phone?
Ordered a white 32gb/2gb model today, cost £200.99. Also bought a rubber case for £2.something
Delivery is 5-15 business days. hopefully i get it soon, very excited
1. No Kitkat release yet
2. Call ID is not display for incoming call
3. Not root available
Had a look at a Russian forum, and many users have reported the speakers rattling, and some guy had quite a few dead pixels on his device. I really hope mine doesn't have any dead pixels arghh.
TWRP is available, and maybe a MIUI Rom. Gonna post links later

Have a Jiayu G3.
Delivery already root !
Maybe the Jiayu G6 is delivery with root too.
I've that one
Hi,
I already have this one for over a month now and I really like it. But I hope the community gets bigger.
So there will be more tricks and tweaks. I'm just a thinker and leecher.
Wdeb
Got the device yesterday and so far ive been quite impressed.
Build quality is good, no creaking.
GPS works very well! Gets a lock with no internet in 10 seconds. Very accurate, more than suitable for regular navigation.
Speakers are VERY good, loud+clear.
Front camera 8mp is v/good, soooo much detail. Rear camera is good, focuses very fast. There is a lot of noise in low light however, and shutter speed becomes very slow.
WiFi signal is strong, better than all my prev droid devices.
Root can be enabled in settings
Bad stuff:
Stock launcher and theme are very ugly, also the app switcher is iOS style, and slow. Also note this gives the wrong RAM usage reading.
Overall, ui isn't as quick as it should be. Don't get 60fps transitions everywhere. The jiayu g3s beats the g6 there.
'Aliyun OS' atm xposed probably won't work and will cause brick.
Will comment on battery later, but screen on time will be around 5 hours.
Discovered some small bug in the camera app. Photo mode must be set to '13mp 4:3' for the video camera to record in 1080p, otherwise it will be 720p.
The gyroscope (might) be messed up, the axis are swapped, so if you move left or right on x axis, the phone thinks you are moving up or down on y axis. This is common with mtk6592 devices. I've only tried using the gyroscope in street view on google maps, so could just be a bug in that app.
I got 6h37 minutes screen on time a few days ago! Without a doubt the battery is 3500mah. Phone was on minimum brightness, wifi was on all the time and 3g was active for about 90 minutes. I was basically using snapchat all day. The battery percent is slightly inaccurate, 100 to 90 percent decreases slowly, then lasting 90% decreases in a linearly. Some other people have also had a miscalculated battery, it is something to look out for but not much of a problem, since the battery lasts so long anyway. I don't think recalibrating with an app will fix this but I will try.
The Jiayu S2 was very recently updated to kitkat. That phone has identical specs to the G6, so I think it is very likely the G6 will get updated to kitkat soon too.
Chrome browser scrolling is really laggy, stock browser performance is very good, but most the search providers are Chinese. I recommend using Bing, as that detects your language. Google is in Chinese. You can set your homepage to the correct language.
I've own also a G6 and have massive problem with it... ob better with the backup i've done befor i updated the rom to the newest version.
I’m not able to restore the user data with the build in “Android system recovery e3″, it simple says “no sd-card” (G6 has only phonememory, no sd). I've made the backup via e3 befor i flashed the new version, so i have now a clean g6, a backup from nearly 530MB (named “userdata_20140820_184248.backup”) and can´t restore it. Is there another solution to restore it (I have already tried nanodroid and TitanBackup, none can work with this backup-typ (will not show it)…
If i have a look at the phone with the root explorer, it shows me to under root\sdcard the phonememory, under root\storage sdcard0 (which is also the phonememory) and sdcard1
, which is only r/o with a size of "0". Phonememory is shown as 24,11 GB. It seems that something went wrong with the update.... Meanwhile i have restored the apps manually, but i'm not able to do a new Backup (error: no sd-card if i use the build in e3-backup solution)....
Any idea how to fix this error?
Firmware update??
I was reading the last reply, were Chris4Me mentioned a new firmware??? But where does that one come from?
I did see the one on Needrom, from Socrates. But because I can't find a back-up-method that completely backs up the phone, I haven't tried it. I want to go back to the former state. So something like ghost-images for the PC but now for the phone. Does someone have that?
I do like the G6 a lot. Sometimes it lags a bit, but most of the time it works perfect.

Here's the link. I don't think it includes flashtools program. In flashtools select 'upgrade firmware'. The phone storage is formatted, you will lose all data on the phone so remember to backup!

Might make a tutorial in weekend
Hi,
thank you... i'll download it...
Done... there are no (flash-)tools in the package...
By the way, which recovery solution are you using (cwm/twr)?
I've tried severale (for example: Carliv Touch 6044 v2.5), but none will work (i always get a "no sdcard" error), reason seems to be the virtual sdcard of the G6...
So i'm using instead of cwm/twr the titaniumbackup and nanodroid... i hope it will work, i don't will loose all my apps and data again...

Rooting G6
Hi All,
I ordered G6 and will receive it next week.
Is there a way for rooting the device?
I need the root to repair the IMEI due to custom regulations in my country.
Jiayu support answered that there is no engineerinf mode available on the original ROM.
Therefore I need the root to play with Mobile Uncle Tools.
Thx in advance

EMUI 9.1 for MediaPad M5 is coming soon

As the Titel says, EMUI 9.1 is coming for MediaPad M5 and for more 49 Devices from Huawei and its sub-brand Honor.
The confirmation is from the Chinese club.huawei (see the attachment below)
Why EMUI 9.1 is a really big deal and better than its previous firmware:
PERFORMANCE
Previously, the F2FS file system was tailored for flash memory to improve the read and write performance after long-term use. Now, with EROFS, the random read speed will be 20% faster and the system space will provide extra personal storage of up to 1000 pictures or 500 songs. Plus, the read-only memory design isolates outside interference for added security in your system files.
GPU TURBO 3.0
GPU Turbo 3.0 is a new upgrade that covers 25 of the most popular games. This new update includes reducing SoC power consumption by 10% and optimizing the underlying system performance to provide a continuous gaming experience.
HUAWEI VLOG
It has new features and effects that are perfect tools for easy editing and you can share with one-click. The Highlight videos are automatically edited with dramatic filters and give you the option to apply special speed effects and unique background music. Your cherished videos can be transformed into a personal cinematic masterpiece.
ANYTIME ASSISTANT
Whenever you need to use the virtual assistant to carry out tasks, look up facts or need an answer to a simple question, just press and hold the power button and the Google Assistant will launch in a second.
AR MEASURE
When you need a quick measurement tool for simple DIY projects, just open the AR Measure App. You can accurately measure length, total area and volume with the Huawei TOF Camera.
By utilizing the Face Recognition technology, you can now measure the height of a person with just a simple task of scanning from toe-to-head.
ONEHOP
A simple tap from your phone to the computer can send pictures, videos, and documents in seconds. You can also efficiently copy and paste between devices with Huawei Share OneHop.
And, while playing a game, just shake and touch the phone to your computer to initiate a 60-second recording of the screen1 that saves to your phone.
HUAWEI CARKEY, SECURE AND CONVENIENT
EMUI 9.1 allows you to automatically unlock your car with NFC on your phone when you forget the key and you can share this key with up to 5 people.
You can still unlock your car even if your phone is out of battery. Additionally, you can start your engine using your phone, once the phone is placed inside the secure phone box.
THE PERFECT WORKOUT PARTNER
EMUI 9.1 turns your phone into an ultimate workout partner. Use your phone to connect to a treadmill and collect information like calories burned, running speed and length of the workout.
The phone can also use an algorithm to intelligently measure the step vibrations, so you can accomplish your personal fitness goals.
SIMPLY SWITCH
With HUAWEI Phone Clone, you can simply and quickly transfer your contacts, photos, videos and more to your new phone in just a few moments.

And other more detailed Improvements like: (i collected those infos from some Mate 20 pro users):
Navigation Gestures are LOT way better now than EMUI 9.0 (more fluid)
Desktop Mode got some Improvements and fixes too
Battery life is better now (the drain issues got fixed)
Thats all i can remember till now
It also says it's released, I wasted time I stalling the beta app, and setting up Huawei Id only to find I need to insert a SIM card in my WiFi only tablet.....

Yes, correct, in order to use the beta app you must insert the sim card, but even doing this you won't be able to get the 9.1 as it is not available yet on M5
So there is no point trying this app if you don't have a 4G device?

I got a m5 lte 10.8 can I get the beta version?
I can't even get 9.0 for the US 8" model yet. I'm sure I'll see 9.1 after Android 10 is released.
I'm still running 8.0. Not even a sniff of 9.0 let alone 9.1! Quite disappointed if I'm honest!

Got my tablet last week SHT- AL09 LTE
with version 8, checked for updates and went up version 8 in steps. Then was given 9 and more steps to final 9.01.190
I have the same tablet, and same version of the software.
Very nice tab, i like everything about it except for the battery life which is not too good, and also wish it supported VoLTE.
I was wondering, whether it will receive Android Q :-o
I just checked what is the firmware history of Samsung tablets on sammobile. So after 1st year of release they updated their tablet quarterly, and after 2nd year they stops updating. So it is pretty much almost the same. Except that they are much much more expensive devices. Like new tab s6. Great tablet, but quarter updates after 1st year? No thanks.
Got the EMUI 9.1 update (9.1.0.325) on my M5 8.4 WiFi last Saturday (31 August 2019) here in Romania. It's 3,51 GB in size and I got it through OTA.

News: Android 10 beta coming soon

https://www.droid-life.com/2019/09/17/report-samsung-launching-android-10-beta-next-month/
do we need to subscribe beta program?
Probably... The details haven't been announced yet.
Any new about it
Looks like the beta is currently available in Korea, and will probably be available through the Samsung Members app later this week.
But I am from Argentine. And here don't come the beta. Any advice to get it?
Just curious, do any of you think if I change my location with a VPN I will be able to get the Beta that was already released in Korea?
I try and when I change my vpn and open samsung members the APK fails
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/how-to/galaxy-s10-sm-g975f-official-oneui2-10-t3980879
Check this
It's currently available in the US through Samsung Members for Sprint and T-Mobile only.
One UI 2 beta adds spacing at the bottom of every app which serves no purpose. There are lot of bugs here and there but I have not noticed any app crashes as such.
I am from spain, and I have just installed the beta too.
It has some lag, screen mode seems that always is in vivid instead natural, and still sometimes the screen wake up like if you tap the power button. There are a lot to polish.
Regards
I joined the UI 2 beta but found it much more buggy than previous Samsung betas (like 8 -> 9) and quite honestly there was no discernable difference for my use case scenario. Samsung does a very good job polishing its take on Android so that the next version doesn't seem that much of an upgrade. It reminds me of iOS and macOS upgrades where you need to read up about the differences otherwise you might not realise what was new. Given that is the case I decided to withdraw from the beta program and revert to Android 9 using Odin. For me there were no advantages and many disadvantages in running UI 2 at this stage. I got display glitches like mentioned above, neither Google Pay nor Samsung Pay worked, the navigation bar kept reverting to the old on-screen icon system and UI 2 did not play well with my launcher of choice, Nova. Yes, there are 'solutions' like not using Nova and maybe doing a hard reset after upgrading, but for me it just isn't worth the hassle for no obvious return.
Beta ROM?
Anyway to force subscribe to the beta program, or just get the ROM to flash manually?

Just flash the ROM through Odin and you're done. The only downside is that each time a new beta or the final release comes out, you have to flash it with the help of Odin because the OTA updates are tied to the Samsung Members app.

Pixel 3a Android 9 vs Android 10

Hey guys!
First, my apologies if I am in the wrong section posting. I was not sure where to post. Please move my thread if needed. Thanks!
Second, would someone recommend and/or suggest Android 9 over Android 10 or Android 10 over Android 9? For myself, I really do not like Android 10. When I am referring to Android 10 and I am referring to the original in September and the two updates in September where that last update has a C3 in part of the name, as well as the October Android 10 update. I just do not like any of the updates. Would I be better off going back to Android 9? It is not an issue because I can flash the factory images via ADB when the phone is powered on than Fastboot once the phone is in the flashing mode
Can you explain why you do not like the update?
I personally don't find that there is a lot of difference between 9 and 10, but offcourse 10 has the latest security updates, which might be a reason for you to stay with 10.
Personally I think the biggest noticeable difference between 9 and 10 is the gesture based navigation. However you can turn the Android 9 style navigation back on if you so desire (Settings/System/Gestures/2-button navigation) or even the older 3 button navigation.
Other changes - like dark mode - are also optional. I see little reason to stay on Android 9. Especially since it is not being updated with security updates.
It would be nice if we could continue to use a preferred version but that comes with considerable security risks. If your dislike is purely asthetics, you can try other launchers.
For the sake of security I'll stick with Q10 for now. I have yet to succeed with a direct OTA update even under full stock. If the pending November OTA updates without needing to sideload, I might then install Magisk.

The majority of pushback comes from people USED to Android 9/Pie. I get it; I really do - when folks get comfortable, change scares the bejeebers outta them. Because I never ran Pie before the Pixel 3a came along (and Android 10 was halfway through its beta when the 3a arrived) I was able to go from 8/Oreo to 10 pretty much directly with only one migration issue; the gesture support. Simply not using them (even with Gboard) was an option, however - and one I adopted.
Launchers - Pixel Launcher was one I was already familiar with (from my Android 6 and 7 days); returning to it was therefore rather a relief.
The even bigger surprise is that I'm not rooted - or using a non-stock recovery; the first time I've done that on a smartphone (or any Android device since Android 5). TWRP was a certain install on a smartphone (as certain as doing tax returns every year); now - I could, in fact, care less. I follow TWRP development (and Magisk development as well); however, it's more a case of looking for a reason to install either - so far, nothing in Android 10 has given me a reason to move away from dead-stock. (Basically, it's a NEW sort of comfort - dead stock - for the first time in my Android phone history - IS actually good enough to run un-stepped-on.)
Dark mode requires neither; it's an option in Settings. Same with VoLTE/VoWiFi. Basically, so much for Magisk.
The thing is, you have to be comfortable with dead-stock; being as this is, after all, a developer/tweaker-targeting community, how many folks are actually comfortable running dead-stock?
If you CAN get comfortable running dead-stock, Android 10 on your 3a or 3a XL (or any Pixel, for that matter) makes a ton of sense.
Follow up - Due to Microsoft Launcher changing it's code base, I installed the beta on my Pixel 3a, replacing Pixel Launched as default. Due to new features, Pixel Launcher is in trouble! It is not the support for Dark Mode, third party launchers either have or are adding it. It is being able to use apps as plug ins; two I use now are Word (expected) and Google Calendar (unexpected). How many third party launchers let you use a system app - even Calendar - as a plug in directly. While Outlook for Android does, it is still nice to have Launcher do so as well. This very post is another example - I have added the XDA app as a plug in. Depending on how often you use an app, using it as a plug in May be faster than as a shortcut.
Im a new pixel user, i come from Nokia 7 plus (Android 9 - android one program, almost the same as pixel) and simply cant go back to 9...
Im glad my nokia also updated to 10 today , i really like the gestures. And i have been on 9 for 1 1/2 year now...
Nova launcher, gestures work fine on android 10, dark mode is not everywhere but its coming....

I don't know that I had to, but I sideloaded the December update. However, the January update downloaded and installed w/o problem. I have had time to get used to full Q10 stock and it does many nice things. I don't think I'll do root until major changes happen.

I can just speak for the 2019 Xperias:
-BT AAC Codec isn't working actually
-Calls may have no Audio
But that's all on My Bug List. It seems like the latest Versions aren't booting on the Xperia 1 III so it will be the same on the 5 III. But I will help to fix that if People are willed to test around... That's why I'm also on GitHub...

Are you willing to develop a stable version for me? I am willing to donate higher amounts to fund the development. I'm quite tired of the way Sony does their software.
The auto downgrade to 60Hz everytime the phone gets slightly hot. That software feature itself drives me mad from using the phone.

Totally agree with You about the Software since the Z3 (Z3+/Z4). They started a Semi-Public Beta Program to optimize the Firmwares with an Bareboned AOSP. Still lacking a lot of the old famous Featurs like the Mini Apps, Extra Apps, Widgets, Brands like Cybershot, Walkman and so on... It's sad!
I'm really trying to get the best out of it (still). So i will solve the issues asap (next 24hrs).
Let's try to solve the Performance issues right after that!
I splitted My MARS SOMs into 3 Gears. Everything is explained on GitHub. Also updated the Threads and the ReadMe's. Also made huge Progress with My own Overlay. It's a firsty on Android Development (including incredible and tons of Features). Give "Gear Second" and "Gear First" a try for now. It should work fine yet (except for the Audio issues maybe)

We should be the one to thank you! I will try your new build out and give feedback. Yes i think the Xperia needs s custom kernel or custom profiles at least.
Something is not right with how the stock kernel processes tasks. Games do not get the phone hot. But teamviewer, uber and google maps does for some reason. One other Xperia 5 III owner reported that the Franko Kernel Manager solves this issue. Perhaps we can take reference from this and improve?

The Problems with the Performance should be fixed over the MARS Base SOM. I played around with the Kernel Settings and it doesn't seems to improve stuff further. LMK and ZRAM are the bad Guys at the end. Paired with wrong rendering of certain Apps like Google Maps. Everything of that and more should be improved with My fully working SOMs. I would be glad to make it work on the last 6 Flagships from SONY (Maybe even the Pro Devices). Just need some help with the testing...
Really reached some big Goals the last week or so. Really looking forward to make it 100% stable for everyone. There are also more things planned for our Xperias which are really ambitious...

Hey there. Just managed to install your SOM and test it out for a while. Overall stability is there and performance seems identical to stock.
Just would like to raise some stability issues:
Unable to turn on Wi-Fi on my end so far. Turning it on through notification shade shortcut causes System UI to freeze momentarily and W-Fi goes off after that. Turning it on through settings causes Settings to freeze momentarily and Wi-Fi goes off after that. It doesn't show list of Wi-Fi networks
Screen refresh rate still drops to 60Hz when phone gets warm and there is no way to force change it back to 90Hz or to turn this feature off
Also raising these suggestions:
We have to find a way to improve the time from fingerprint scan to home screen. It has taken too long since the first Xperia 5. Also, pressing the power button and resting finger on the sensor at the same time seems to get to home screen faster. Just resting finger on the sensor without pressing the power button takes a longer time. I think it is something to do with software
Is it feasible to port over Lineage OS or similar?
Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you and supporting your work!
Thanks again for Your detailed Feedback @SPEEDHAMMER ! I have just released another big Update which should improve things further...
I would really like to see You on My Disco rd Server to share more Details about my upcoming work with You!
I'm about to create an Xperia Exclusive OS with many great Features. There are already some people around and I'm sure they would like to see You too!

Excuse me, I've just come back after 3 years of stock ROMs. What is the order of flashing the Pixel Experience? I used to use a custom recovery, but as I see there's no such one for 5 III and I didn't find any instruction. Do I just flash the ROM via "fastboot flash system_b pe.img"?
Now I have a stock ROM with all-working Magisk. Do I need a full-wipe also? There's a GSI flashing after Magisk installation in your general instruction, right?

Click to collapse
You need the Pixelsystem.img File
Place it next to fastboot and execute:
fastboot flash system_a Pixelsystem.img
Followed by
fastboot flash system_b Pixelsystem.img
Wipe Your Device or it doesnt Boot
fastboot -w
Thats it
Sorry, have the same error during step 5 and during flashing PE. I made a mistake somewhere.
