No LTE Data on Custom Google Pixel 3a Rom - Google Pixel 3a Questions & Answers

I really need help with getting my GrapheneOS rom to work with Sprint. It does not include the packages for CDMA Sprint activation. I flashed back to the stock rom and data works perfectly so I definitely know its gotta be something with the missing packages. I've read like a billion threads on here and reddit but can't find anything recent to get Sprint working on my custom rom. I can't find apn settings so thats out of the equation; anyone have any ideas that I can try? Thanks in advance!

I realize this is the 3a channel, but I think this is relevant. I just activated a Pixel 4a with them and they had to give me a physical sim card. Voice calls and SMS works, but sadly data still doesn't work. It seems Sprint is the issue but I can't find out why.

[Q] CyanogenMod Bell Mobility Voicemail Notification?

I'm not sure if I'm going to find an answer to this question since there are at most a dozen Photon Q's being used with Bell Mobility up in Canada, but you never know until you ask right?
Just got CM 10.1.3-RC2 (Android 4.2.2) up on my phone, and it's working great with one exception: I'm not being notified when a voicemail message is waiting for me.
I've been looking around and haven't seen anyone else posing this question in relation to the Photon Q, though there have been a few other post around for other phones. However, the suggested answers seem to vary by phone: the HTC Desire Z supposedly needs a radio update, many phones (all?) had issues with CM7, the Inspire 4G apparently needs a bit of specific code., etc...
Does anyone have a solution to this for the Photon Q?
I would love to know how you managed to get Bell's service on your phone, as it doesnt show up properly in their MEID database and they cant give me a straight answer before I use my credit card.

Hey unfortunately I never got this sorted out. I'm now running 4.3 and still having the same problem. For me it's not too much of an issue as people rarely seem to make phone calls these days, but I just kind of check my voicemail manually every few days just to be safe.
But you still have voice/text working? I tried bringing it to a Bell store today and they couldn't activate it without a certain hexadecimal 11-key number that's unique to the device.

I do have voice, text, and all the other stuff working just fine. I didn't even talk to Bell about "activating" my device, I just took the sim card out of my old phone and put it in the new one, and voila. However, I believe it depends what rom you're running... I'm using CyanogenMod and I believe they include some specific settings to get the phone up on various carriers.
Sorry if this is an obvious question, but you've done the hardware mod needed to use a Canadian (or other) SIM card right?
Basically everything I did I found in a single thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929143 It's a long one but chances are you'll find what you need to know somewhere in there!
Ah, I thought you were using their CDMA network. Trying that route before having someone do the mod for me. I'm thinking the key might be the MIN.

Freedompop Nexus 5 and ROMs

I just got the refurbished Nexus 5 for freedompop through the stacksocial promo. Very good deal (unlimited talk, text and 500 mb LTE data/month, all free for a year). The device came with a very minimal install of android 5.1. Given the fact that the device has a special dialer and sms program (since everything goes over the data network), I was wondering what the options were for updating to 5.1.1 (stock vs other CM based roms).
Help appreciated.
I would be interested in the answer to this too. This sounds like a great way to stay contract free when I return to the States. Maybe look in to how you get the service working on a BYOD phone?
this the 199 deal? I was thinking of picking this up and just cancelling the service to have a spare 5 lying around

The phone is a refurbished b stock. Mine was in great shape except a small nick on the right side. So I cannot complain. The bootloader comes unlocked and there is a superuser zip on the phone so all you have to do is flash a custom recovery to flash that zip. Now I have to figure out whether I can put custom roms on this puppy.

Since it's the N5 it shouldn't be a problem for recoveries or anything rom related. They may have filled it with there own bloatware but it will work regardless

The issue is that since this phone operates solely over voip and data for messaging the normal dialer and messaging app is deleted and it has its own freedom pop dialer and messaging app.. I am not sure how integrated the whole freedom pop stuff into the system is.. I don't want to install a different rom and break the integration.

This is the promo I got for my sister. Is this VOIP the same thing as Freedompop 4G LTE? I thought FreedomPop was piggybacking on Sprint's cell network.
It does run on the sprint's LTE network but the sms and talk goes over the data network rather than the regular sprint network. So for all intents and purposes it is a VOIP phone with sprint reception. If you don't have LTE reception, the voice and sms parts don't work either.
I also took advantage of this incredible deal.
However I've had quite a few freezes with the ROM it's running.
It seemed just like Stock, however looking around I've noticed they've tweaked Stock quite a bit.
One of the most significant (and surprising) tweaks was the inclusion of Ambient Display.
I'm about to flash some ROMs and see how it works. Update this later.
Hmm. I had no issues with the rom itself. I think it is running very smoothly. I did root it though

Does this mean the 500MB free data will be used up as it's being used for calls and text? Sorry for the noob questions but I've never used VoIP before, like ever. My sister surprisingly isn't into social networking but she only texts with her best friends the most.
I know you probably don't know but if I flash CM12 on it would FreedomPop not work?

freedompop zip
I was wondering could someone post the freedompop zip that came on the phone? I foolishly deleted mine but I'd like to experiment with it now.
So I installed a recovery by simply flashing it since its already bootloader unlocked, obtained root and everything works. also made a backup just in case.
I went through the freedom pop rom on the phone and it has the apk files for phone and messaging. you can also pull them from the app store.
Im gonna flash a custom rom and then install the apk's. It should work and I could always set freedompop apps as the default dialer.

I flashed both Stock and CM but neither even recognized the Freedompop SIM card.
Guess we have to stay on their ROM if we want to use their service.
I also got the deal from freedom pop though I'm now regretting it as I'm reading this whole issue about the messaging app.... especially the fact that it's only a voip service being used, might as well use hangouts then!
Besides that, how good is the overall condition of your devices? I got tricked into thinking it was a genuinely "new" nexus 5 by pocketnow, nowhere did it read refurbished or "pre owned" until I got the email from freedompop.

Well that's depressing, hopefully someone finds what they did and is able to port the contents from their rom to another. Or we could also contact their support personally? they seem to be pretty dev-friendly. Have you tried messing with the prl? It's been a while since I've dealt with sprint

Just tried every PRL setting, still no dice.
Regarding the phone condition, mine arrived perfectly flawless. It can really pass as a new device. However I've heard that some people receive units with dings and bumps on the sides. Guess I got lucky
Mine Works!
I installed cataclysm rom as its one of my favorites. just updated the profile and prl as usual in the phone settings.
LTE and wifi working flawless.

It's strange that a ROM would be the reason for a SIM to work. Maybe it's using specific modems we're not aware of? The zip file in the phone seems to be the ROM. I had to unlock the bootloader, it didn't come with TWRP as others have claimed, to root it and installed TWRP to make a nandroid backup. I might take a chance with CM12 later today.

Network Issue with G930T on Echoe Rom with MetroPCS carrier

Hello All,
Hopefully you might be able to help me. I flashed Echoed_Rom_G930_Multi-Carrier on my unlocked T-Mobile galaxy S7, currently on the MetroPCS network. Everything looks great, except for the fact that I have no cellular coverage: phone, sms, data, anything. Whoops.
My carrier is MetroPCS but seeing as they use the T-Mobile network I imagine this should work, and I was careful to select the T-Mobile option as I was installing the rom. I also made sure to double check that my APN is configured properly, but that doesn't seem to be affecting this issue at all. :T
Next I went in and tried to search manually for networks. I could see T-Mobile along with several other carriers in my area, but when I tried to select T-Mobile it hung for several minutes and wouldn't acquire a connection to the network.
Do I need to do something within the rom to fix this? Will I need to just flash back to stock and wait for a later update of the rom to patch this activation issue? My expertise lies more in rooting than in troubleshooting roms, so any help would be appreciated. Let me know if there are any screenshots or additional information that I can provide that might help troubleshoot this issue if at all possible.
Thanks.

Issue with 1.25.617.4 update

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but after I updated to the latest OTA update (1.25.617.4) I can no longer access call forwarding settings nor call waiting settings. It gives me error saying 'Network Error or sim card error' when trying to view either. I thought it was an issue with my sim cause I just used the one from my HTC 10 so went to AT&T and got a new one only to have same issue. Did a factory reset and same issue. After that I figured it could have possibly been the update, so I used the ROM exe from HTC to get back to 1.21.617.3 and can access those settings again. It was nice to get VoLTE, but I don't want to lose some settings access to get that.
If anybody has had the same issue, have you found a fix other then going back to 1.21.617.3 or staying on 1.25.617.4 and not being able to access call forwarding and call waiting?
Thanks
Interesting. Mine is completely normal with the same SIM card from my HTC 10 as well. Have you tried wiping the cache partition? That actually helped me get VoLTE on my HTC 10.
Here's a link how to do it in case you don't know...

I know, but it's just instructions (from T-Mobile) on how to do it on your HTC 10.
No issues here, on t-mobile and used same sim as HTC 10. I know it doesn't resolve your issue, but maybe there is an issue with the update and AT&T. See if anyone else on AT&T has same issue.
I'm on Verizon and I get the following when I try to go to either Call forwarding or Additional Settings. It never gets any further.
Have not tried going to these on the previous OTAs.

I was hoping to hear from others on AT&T (and other networks) by posting here. Seems T-Mobile is ok and Verizon has a similar but different issue.

I don't know if I mentioned it before but I'm on AT&T, and everything is normal.
I'm on AT&T, U12+ on 1.25 firmware (+ Viper 1.01), SIM card is from HTC 10 (actually even further back than that, same SIM card since 2014 or 2015).
No issues accessing call forwarding / call waiting settings. All of those features are working for me (forwarding to YouMail, waiting definitely works, so does conference/merging calling) and also now VoLTE.
You mentioned it didn't work on 1.25 even after factory resetting. Were you modded in any way? So you RUU'ed back to 1.21 and it works. Have you tried OTA'ing back to 1.25 and seeing if it now works? I'm just trying to think of anything. Sorry dude, that stinks. I'm on 1.25 and heavily modified and it all works...
I get the same error message as well. But im on T-mobile. Really doesn't matter to me personally as i don't use settings in there.
But you're not the only one that gets the error.

Hadn't done anything to phone at the time, was completely stock, nothing done at all as of yet. Only thing i have done now after going back to 1.21 is unlock the bootloader and so far that's all. Going to try taking the OTA to 1.25 again and see if it wasn't just some fluke of nature.
Will update afterwards.
Edit: went back to 1.25, getting same error and can't access call forwarding or call waiting settings.

I'm still on the original firmware (no rush to update as of yet) and I get the same situation when accessing those settings.
1.25 RUU is available. I'm on T-Mobile with an Unlocked boot loader and custom kernel however everything works on this end.
I have the 1.25 update and I'm on ATT, and I apparently have the issue as well. No bother, though, since I don't use call forwarding.
And, this is the sim card from my 10.
I am on AT&T and my firmware 1.25.617.4 and everything working fine here
I realize this thread is a a little old but I am having the same issue. I am on AT&T. The only tweaks I have made is to unlock the bootloader and disabled tethering guard. The problem existed on 1.25.617.4 and persists on 1.30.617.2. I thought the problem was a provisioning issue with AT&T. After multiple calls with them and a couple with HTC, I found this thread. Of course I should have stopped here first. I actually need call forwarding and calling AT&T to have them manually provision it every time I need it just won't cut it. Has anyone been able to figure this out?

VoLTE working on AT&T need someone to test theory.

Bear with me as I'm no expert and I need to explain what happened.
I have an op6 running Android 9.0.2 rooted with magisk only. Tried all the tricks, installed magisk voenabler, did the numeric codes to condition the phone (*#800# and *#*#4636#*#*) but never got volte to work with att in us. Last week going on a cruise I was having issues with my phone not opening the login page for the ship's wifi (this is another bug on Android 9 because before update I didn't have this issue) so I decided to install the magisk Google dns repo to see if it will fix the issue and it did (the login page). And my volte it's working ever since too. It's being half a day since I'm back and I have rebooted the phone and run speed tests and is working fine. Can anybody with att confirm this to know if this could be a fix or a fluke?
Tried the module, unfortunately it disabled the 2nd sim which is my AT&T one
I'll be able to test VoLTE on At&T via red pocket and see if the MVNO has it later in the month, but I can confirm that when I was using the OP6 on verizon VoLTE was fully working. I was also on 9.0.2 PIE and I didn't need to do anything special to get it to work.
My understanding is your account needs to have VOLTE on it, or else it does not work.

I've had VoLTE on AT&T enabled since the beginning. It's an option in xXx's ROM and works great.
Just because the rom has options for volte doesn't mean it will work for everyone. You carrier itself needs to support volte as well. And lots of carrier make you pay extra for it.

Actually it's about him wondering if it works you should read the op first and like I said just cause it's supported doesn't mean you automatically get it your not paying extra will that's good for you but there are others that do I actually answered his questions with useful information. What exactly are you doing here other than trying to pick arguments with people.
I'm also on att, not sure what you did wrong there, but i used the voenabler module and it works, have you tried switching your sims and see?
Is it contract or prepaid? I heard people say that prepaid sim won't get volte.

Thanks for your input Tyler, in other words we can confirm that it's att issues because the only thing different that I did from you was using my phone during our stop in Puerto Rico (for those who doesn't know PR is considered us soil so we we can use our phones with no extra charge, it's like calling to another state). I thought I would loose it as soon as I would arrive State side but I still have the service. So something got updated in att when I turned on my phone and used the network from PR that enabled it.
