The S10e comes with a screen protector, but scratches easily. You can tap anywhere on the screen to activate the screen if the AOD is turned on.

Tapping problem XDA II, screen doesn't respond to stylus

I have had my XDA II for two months and since my last synch I find I am now tapping with the stylus in vain on my screen to enter the system. The screen is in perfect condiition but now does not respond. When I pressed the record or camera buttons on the side the programs load but I can't select anything because the screen does not respond to any stylus taps.
I did a hard reset and now I can't get past the first screen that says please tap here to continue.
Has anybody experienced this problem and can they suggest a way forward for me to get it resolved ASAP as a I am going to Spain tomorrow with an XDA II which is not responding to stylus taps.
Sounds like a hardware fault if you have tried a hard reset.
no response
I now know what the problem was.
I put on a new screen protector. And for some reason the XDA cannot sense any taps on the screen from the stylus.
I removed the screen protector and it works fine.
However the XDA did work with the last screen protector that I put on, so I do not know why it doesn´t with the new ones.

I have been using screen protectors from various manufaturers, each time I had to re-calibrate the screen (for that reason) but has never come across situation as described above

Tapping problem
hello mate
The reason for your stylus not to work with the screen protector is because you have the edge of the protector toching the sides od the xda.....make sure you have a very small gap between them.
You didnt mention the screen protector in your first post, I had the same with a protector on an ipaq that was slightly oversize and touched the very edges, no taps worked either until I removed the protector.

that would be really interesting
I have been looking and can't find it no where.
I've also searched the entire net but can't find it nowhere.
Does anyone know what technology is used in that screen protector. We can try to make our own if we new that.
The Navigation bar will move to the bottom bezel after you deactivate and close it in the Settings, while the upper bezel corners will activate certain apps like camera etc.. when swiped.

They have some inivisible wiring done in that screen protector. the touch on protector's buttons translates to simultaneous touches in certain areas of device. These simultaneous touches can be used to trigger home, back or whatever function huawei has coded in.

There is one thing. The p8 is global with there bands, can be be used any where, has full huawei support from the main site, and since all that is the case the p8 and the p8 maxx would be there flag ships and get the accessories before any of the other phone will even hope to get them. Thats why I am hoping that a china company makes a cheap version of it and I will bet money they will. The way they are sell these phones. They just have to get rid of a few more screen protectors first, they don't want to get stuck with them if everyone move on over to touchplus protectors. I'd pay 30 to 40 bucks for one.
How does this even work? How does the phone know you pressed buttons off the screen?
I love the idea of more screen real estate!

The software on the phone ( see the Touchplus under your settings ) simply monitors if a signal happened at x location.
Under the touchplus protector there is a micro thin wire going from the front ( where you see the buttons ) to the back ( that touches your screen ).
As you press the button, you create a electric contact with your skin's electricity field, this signal is send to the back of your protector, to the phone where the software picks up this signal on that exact location.
And because the signal is send using a thin wire, its impossible to mistake this with a finger press because our fingers our huge so the location of the electric field is way more massive.

That is pretty impressive to say the least!
I hate on screen buttons as they take away screen real estate. I will definitely be picking one of these up whenever they are available!
I wonder why they didn't just put the buttons down at the bottom of the phone in the first place?

How to fix touch sensitivity issue with screen protector

Ok this may be well known for many, but it might help some people if you have glass protector which degrades touch sensitivity. Me and my friend bought S9+ yesterday together with Samsung protective case and Panzerglass screen protector and we both were having huge sensitivity issues with the glass on the display. Apparently there is an easy fix for this implemented by Samsung. (Havent had android phone since Note 4 and didnt know about this). Just search for "touch sensitivity" in the settings menu and toggle it on, the screen works flawlessly with the protector on it now.

Scroll down towards bottom, it's there. Definitely helps when you have a screen protector on.

'Issue' with internal screen protector, pictures in post.

Hi everyone,
Just had my fold 2 delivered at 7.30am this morning.
Opened it up and dissatisfied with the screen protector. As you can see from the photos it doesn't go across the whole screen, is this normal?
Also they say get Samsung to take it off, why? My fingernail goes straight under it.
Surely this has been fitted incorrectly?
T
Anyone had this?
Edit, how do you add photos? Mine is on my phone and not an online link.
It doesn't sound like it was applied correctly. I would call Samsung.

When you hit Reply, look further down the screen for "Manage Attachments" then upload the attachments, they will appear as thumbnails on your post that we can click to view full image.

Nope, no sign of the add atachments, maybe because its a new account.
Anyways, I just took the screen protector off as it was marked on the corner and across the side of the screen by about 3/4mm at first I thought there was an issue with the screen and a line a dead pixels. The screen is so much clearer with tge screen protector off.

Question Cover Screen opens accidentally in pocket

Hello Developers
I recently bought Z flip 3... nice phone... just have a challenge and need your advices here.
With the always on display on, and double tap activated .... the cover screen gets triggered randomly in my pocket whatever trousers I am wearing... seems its touch sensitivity is high...
How can I avoid this?
Note: the only way i found to avoid that is by disabling the double tap option to open screen and always on... but this is not the best option I want, as it makes the cover screen only opens with the on/off button
Thanks,
Gano

Get a holster? That's really the only option for it without replacing the functionality and being able to increase the required pressure.

Thanks for feedback. I have a cover already but not covering the cover screen. the only way i do right now is to put it in my pocket where the cover screen is facing the outside to avoid the random touches... i dont think this is the best way of protection but no other way so far.
The thing is, the cover screen doersnt have approximaty sensor by design, you can also see that the brightness is configured manually based on that... that's why I think the feature (Accidental touch protection) doesnt help with the cover screen.

It's the light sensor that's missing, but that is why there isn't an automatic brightness. It makes some sense, since you wouldn't want the light sensor that controls the screen on the outside. It would think it's dark every time it was on a table. That's not to say separate sensor would have been such a bad idea.
That's why you would want to increase the pressure. That would, at least, filter out some of the touches.
