Tapping problem XDA II, screen doesn't respond to stylus - General Topics

I have had my XDA II for two months and since my last synch I find I am now tapping with the stylus in vain on my screen to enter the system. The screen is in perfect condiition but now does not respond. When I pressed the record or camera buttons on the side the programs load but I can't select anything because the screen does not respond to any stylus taps.
I did a hard reset and now I can't get past the first screen that says please tap here to continue.
Has anybody experienced this problem and can they suggest a way forward for me to get it resolved ASAP as a I am going to Spain tomorrow with an XDA II which is not responding to stylus taps.

Sounds like a hardware fault if you have tried a hard reset.

no response
I now know what the problem was.
I put on a new screen protector. And for some reason the XDA cannot sense any taps on the screen from the stylus.
I removed the screen protector and it works fine.
However the XDA did work with the last screen protector that I put on, so I do not know why it doesn´t with the new ones.

I have been using screen protectors from various manufaturers, each time I had to re-calibrate the screen (for that reason) but has never come across situation as described above

Tapping problem
hello mate
The reason for your stylus not to work with the screen protector is because you have the edge of the protector toching the sides od the xda.....make sure you have a very small gap between them.

You didnt mention the screen protector in your first post, I had the same with a protector on an ipaq that was slightly oversize and touched the very edges, no taps worked either until I removed the protector.

Touch Screen Responsiveness

Has anyone noticed with the galaxy note 10.1 that the touchscreen doesnt always respond? Seems to happen when I click the home screen icon every now and then.
This could also be partially my fault because I dont have a screen protector yet and have been over the top washing my hands before touching the screen.

This usually happens if you have the pen out near the screen and then you use your fingers to touch the screen , the reason for this is that the Note disables touch input so that you can rest your palm on the screen while writing.
If it happens outside of the above scenario, then you may have a faulty touch panel.
It does happen when the pen is still in the dock.
Damn damn, have to pay to ship the item back to B&H.
Will play around some more tonight and confirm that it is a problem.

My touch screen went completely dead on me today. It would work find until the screen timed out or was turned off. After that the touch screen would not respond to anything, finger or pen. I am on stock not rooted with encryption enabled for exchange.
Played around with it some more and paid more attention. Seems to happen with task manager when i have to hit the small cross to close apps.

[Q] TF300 sensitivity with a screen protector

I just installed a screen protector (wet application) on a TF300 and it is now impossible to use. I need to press very hard for scrolling and selecting menu.
Anyone else had this problem ?
This is the screen protector I installed: http://www.xtremeguard.com/Asus-Tra...asus_tf300t_screen_protector.htm#.ULKV7te1tsA

It's just a shot in the dark, but did you try to wait for 8-12 hours after you've applied the protector? I've read somewhere else in this forum that there are wet application protectors where you have to wait for a longer period of time until all the solution has dried out from the surface of the pad.

I only waited an hour like I did for my Touchpad, Playbook and phones.
Ill wait until tomorrow morning and report back.

Everything is fine now, glad I waited instead of removing it.
Glad it worked out for you because I've heard some horror stories from people who have used the wet method. I just installed a dry one about 5 minutes ago and it is working great. The anti-glare is helpful and I can hardly tell it's on when touching it.

Does any of you use the protector with the dock by any chance? I'm curious as to what screen protector brand can work with the dock, as I've heard that most of them will rub off when you attach them to the dock.

Bit off,
Had screen protection from day 1 after I replaced my damaged LCD. Suddenly the device had random ghost touches. Reset couldn't do anything. Got confused and was about to open the device. Then thought weird and cleaned the screen which had some dirt as my child used for sometime. Hard to believe but it worked. All those ghost touch have gone.
May be the dirt acted like short circuit in screen I believe.

Ghost Touches

Put my tablet down for a while, and when I came back to it today, there are some serious ghost touches happening. It's especially bad when I touch the back, left side (if holding tablet landscape) I've rebooted and it hasn't helped.
I have a Zagg screen protector on it, which I've never had an issue with beforehand.
Any ideas?
I think it's JUST outside of warranty (not that I've filled the card out...)

I started having ghost touches a while ago, and still occasionally do. I had a screen protector on to start with, absolutely fine. Then after a while they started. Removed the screen protector and no problems again for a while. Now I get them very occasionally, and slight non-responsiveness the the upper right (landscape) quarter or the screen. Normally only after I've been using it for quite a while. Leave it a while and reboot helps.
I'd say try removing the protector.
So, I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner: pretty sure its my keyboard that causes the issues. Took the tablet out of the dock so I could hold it differently, and all issues stopped.
This sucks.

How to fix touch sensitivity issue with screen protector

Ok this may be well known for many, but it might help some people if you have glass protector which degrades touch sensitivity. Me and my friend bought S9+ yesterday together with Samsung protective case and Panzerglass screen protector and we both were having huge sensitivity issues with the glass on the display. Apparently there is an easy fix for this implemented by Samsung. (Havent had android phone since Note 4 and didnt know about this). Just search for "touch sensitivity" in the settings menu and toggle it on, the screen works flawlessly with the protector on it now.

Scroll down towards bottom, it's there. Definitely helps when you have a screen protector on.
