I am trying to repair a Samsung N8010 for a friend.
A few months ago I upgraded the tablet successful to run Lineage 14 using Odin following an install of TWRP.
However a couple of days ago he said it would no longer start up and got stuck at the boot logo.
When I Checked the tablet would go into download mode but not recovery.
I connected to Odin and try ed to re-install TWRP but this failed and now the tablet has the error " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kids and try again"
The tablet will no longer connect to the computer which just says unknown USB device.
Is that the end or is there something I can try.
Thanks for any replies.

Hi,
I have an issue with a Nexus S i9023 of a friend
I installed the latest stock ICS CF_YAKJU_IMM76D some months ago and everything was fine.
I broke the glass of the screen and it was substitued: after a couple of months, the phone entered in a bootloop.
I tried to access recovery but was impossible, I could get to Fastboot and Download mode but choosing recovery from the first started bootlop again.
I flashed a latest CWM in fastboot via adb but no joy.
On top of that, handset behaviour is strange because only 1 on 20 times it is recognized by the PC as a Samsung device, in all other cases it is a "unknown device".
I remove all drivers from Windows and reinstalled the naked version, but again only sometimes I get it... I found out I need to have connected another handset (my HTC currently...) to have it recognized!
Now I can enter in download mode using the USB jig and I can see it from Odin, but if I use the
CF_YAKJU_IMM76D_full.tar
I get "verify image ipbl (fail)" on the handset.
If I use
CF_YAKJU_IMM76D_nowipe_nobootloaders_norecovery.tar
I get an "invalid volume size"
Do I have an hardware issue here? Some partition/internal memory with failure?
What else can I try to flash via Odin?
Obviously now after the fail I can't even get fastboot...
I also tried Unbrickable resurrector under Linux but it doesn't recognize the handset when I connect it.
Any suggestion? :crying:

Ok, update. Using this thread I was able to flash via Odin 1.82 the 2.3.4
However I am still in a bootloop and I can't get fastboot but not recovery... and in fastboot I can't via USB the handset because it says "usb device not recognized"
Hi All,
I'm hoping someone can help me with my non-rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Tablet (GT-P110). The tablet won't go into download or recovery mode, and it's saying "Firmware Upgrade encountered an Issue. Please select recovery mode in KIES and try again". I've tried using Kies, but it's not recognising the device.
I've downloaded Odin 3.09 and a stock ROM from Samsung Updates. When I go to flash the ROM via ODIN it fails at around the 60-70% mark. I've tried a different stock ROM, but the same thing happens.
Is there anything else I could try?
Many Thanks...

Try a different cable if possible, different pc/laptop and go to samsung website and download drivers for your tablet model. Sometimes Kies doesn't do a good job with drivers.
Try rebooting tablet and connecting it right away to pc/laptop.
Good luck.

I have tried a different cable, laptop and downloaded the drivers from the Samsung website, but I was still stuck with the same problem. I tried using Odin 3.07 and this got me further than before. It went through the flash process and I then got the blue reset message. The problem is that the tablet doesn't reset and just goes to a black screen. When I try to manually reset the tablet it comes back with the same message "Firmware Upgrade encountered an Issue. Please select recovery mode in KIES and try again"
Has anyone got any other suggestions I could try?
Many Thanks...
I've had the exact same issue before and in my case simply removing the external sd card before flashing with Odin solved the problem.

I never thought of that because I keep a nandroid copy on my external SD, so I always pull it from my phone or tablet when flashing /reset just to be safe. Doesn't everyone do that?

I'm not sure if my phone is soft bricked or hard bricked. My phone was having some kind of firmware issues so like an idiot and not backing anything up, I tried to flash a stock firmware on my phone with odin and it failed. My phone is not rooted or anything it is complete stock and now when I try to boot up the phone I'm not sure if it goes into recovery automatically or what but when I turn it on it goes to this screen saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.". If this is not recovery mode then I can only go in download mode I have tried going into recovery mode. I've tried odin several times, using different usb cables and different usb ports on my computer and still nothing, I have used Samsung Kies and Kies 3 they both fail and then tell me that I need to do emergency recovery from another computer with a code but it is just blank when it comes up it does not give me any codes. I've even went to Tools > Emergency firmware recovery and still shows no codes or anything it is still blank.
Suggestions?
I fixed it, for anyone who may have the similar problem this will help you: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/guide-sm-s975l-twrp-4-4-2-custom-roms-t3009757
For me, all I needed to do was flash twrp recovery and my phone started working again so I decided not to mess with anything else
Hi everyone, I ran into a serious problem today with my S6 G920F. I was running stock android 7 with Magisk and TWRP installed, I flashed the firmware using Flashfire from the Google Play store.
This morning the phone decided it would stop charging, a problem I faced with Android M. Anyway I reflashed the firmware package but this time i chose NOT to select the options to inject supersu and save my custom recovery, thinking that I could get it back to stock and re root it from there.
The phone previously would not boot if either Magisk or SuperSu was not installed (after i rooted it), it would just endlessly loop. Unfortunately this was the case after i flashed the firmware .
I assumed it would be a quick fix as I could just use Odin to flash the stock firmware . Unfortunately I was wrong again: my computer gives me an error message "USB Device Not Recognized" no matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall the Samsung Driver, Odin wont detect the phone either. Even Smart Switch is at a loss. The phone is currently plugged into my PC and is charging normally, I CAN boot into stock recovery and download modes.
SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!! :crying::crying::crying:
Seems very obvious now but I found the solution I found the original cable that came with the phone; plugged it into the PC and just like that the computer registered that it was a Samsung devices and started installing drivers right away, seems like the P8 Lite cable I was using isnt a data cable?
I was able to flash TWRP using Odin and flashed Magisk using TWRP. All is well
Yesterday evening, after downloading the official firmware from sammobile.com, installing the samsung driver, activating OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging mode, I started to flash the firmware with the latest version Odin. It gave md5 error while loading the AP file on Odin. When I searched on the net, it was said to just delete the md5 extension of this file and try again. So I did that and the firmware started to load normally. When the green line was near the end, it stayed there for about 10 minutes. I was in a hurry too. I disconnected the phone from the PC so I could reinstall it at home.
But the phone gave the warning "An erorr has occured while updating the device software". Neither download nor recovery mode was available.
Smart Switch did not see the phone. When I tried to reinstall with Odin, the green line under the Odin USERDATA text got stuck towards the end, although there was no line or movement on the phone. No movement for 15-20 minutes. What should I do and what is the outcome of this situation? I would appreciate it if experienced, expert people share information. Thank you in advance. I am waiting.
still waiting..
