Adaptive brightness too dim on 9.0.8 - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I have had my OP6 since the week it was released and have dirty flashed every ROM till 9.0.8. Adaptive brightness was always too dim in earlier versions, but seemed to get better with 9.0.7. I finally did a clean flash when 9.0.8 was released, and now adaptive brightness seems too dim again. Is anyone else noticing this, or is this more likely something to do with the clean flash?

Brightness Issue with exodus ROM

I am using exodus ROM on my lg g3 d855. In the latest nightlies I am having brightness issues. The brightness becomes low and even I adjust the slider it does not increase. And I am having the worst battery life. The battery graphs drops suddenly. I am told to clean flash it. I did the cleanest flash ever but neither the battery issue nor the brightness issue is been solved. Please help me!!
same problem. LG G3
im sure its a bug in the rom. if you dont see a fix in the roms thread, you will have to wait for the devs to fix it in an update.

Sony Xperia XA Adaptive Brightness bug??

Hi there, i got a sony xa fs3111 6.0 marsmalow with build number 33.2.A..4.70 , and im experiencing some bugs with adaptive brightness, when its on my screen constantly changes brightness when scrolling fb ir doing something, but only with adaptive brightness i can set my brightness to really 0%, when AB is off and i slide down screen brightness to 0% it feels like theres too much brightness and my eyes hurt at night, i've seen this problem around but anyone can post if there's a solution to this? btw im not rooted.. just bought this phone 1 week ago
Sorted this one out myself... When using stamina mode AB flickers maybe due to downclocks of cpu and to make battery last longer, turning off stamina mode AB works fine with nice transition, but still with stamina off and ab off screen is like 10% brighter than with ab, maybe someone will benefit of this info.

Screen flickering on low brightness and 100% charge

I've noticed that on low brightness/dark backgrounds, I have some flickering on the 3a's screen when my phone is connected to the charger and has 100% charge. Initially I thought it might have been a PWM thing, and hadn't even thought that it was a charger issue. After finding that some people on earlier Pixel models had this problem I tried unplugging the charger and every time I do the flickering stops. It looks basically identical to this.
So far I have tried using a PWM free app, but on low brightness I can still see the flickering. I have tried the stock kernel as well as the new Elemental X kernel. I have tried with/without adaptive brightness as well as Night Mode. The only fix so far has been unplugging the charger.
The next thing I am going to do is just set the phone up to never charge to 100% and see how that goes. Some people with the original Pixel were saying the flickering went away with software updates and others said it didn't.
Anyone else having these flickering issues?
My rootless theory No.1 the battery voltage of pixel 3a is too high at full charge and can't hold itself...thus the voltage to the display driver goes out of the spec?
So, hardware or software?
So far my solution of limiting the charge to 90% seems to work. I am still interested if anyone has noticed this behavior. I found other people having this problem happening on previous Nexus/Pixel devices (I never noticed it with my N6 which I had been using before the 3a), but this device is so new there's not a lot of stuff published yet.
I feel the new thread with so many pages but no clues if it's hardware or software...
Just a thought, but could it be the "Always On Screen" being activated/deactivated rapidly? Just a thought.

AOD Brightness

AOD is much brighter in dim lighting since I installed the August OTA. Has anyone else noticed this?

Adaptive brightness causing frequent changes

My Pixel 4a screen brightness keeps going up and down frequently (like every 10 seconds). Turning off adaptive brightness has temporarily resolved this.
This seems similar to an issue I read about in some of the initial reviews of the phone.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Any idea of what is going on and how to fix?
Mine did that the first couple hours. It kept keeping the brightness lower then I like, so after changing it a few times it's rock solid now, zero issues.
