Sprint MSL code - Google Pixel 3a XL Guides, News, & Discussion

I know in the past you needed to get it from Sprint or via a hack.. Just for giggles I went into *#*#3282#*#* and when I went to make a change and it asked for my msl all I did was ender in six zeros and could make changes If I choose. If you choose on multiple options within a menu it will aks for MSL again just enter the six zeros again, and you can make what ever changes you feel suit your needs.
PS don't mess with stuff you have no idea about..

Could this lead to a way to get the bootloader unlocked for those of us leasing the device
Edit : After looking through all the menus, I retract my question

Only time will tell. For now what I would like to see is if somebody can come up with a guide on the benefits of changing anything inside those hidden menus.

I will say this okay. I was very surprised to find that the MSL code was all zeros that never happens.

I've been trying anything and everything I can think of. I don't really care if I need to factory reset. Using the Shortcut Master app I found something in the settings app. It's called "OemDMTrigger". I thought I found something, so naturally I deleted it with adb but I couldn't find any difference, my phone worked fine. I did restore it.

Can you unlock the Hotspot using this method?

I have no where near the skill level required for that.

I hope this will give us a breakthrough

Bootloader Unlock Possibility? (AT&T)

Okay, so. Rogers One XL and AT&T One X are basically the same device right? Same essentially all the way through? Would it be super farfetched to think that if one were to take the file that is modified by the HTCdev unlock for the Rogers One XL, and push it to the AT&T One X, that it would unlock it? I'm sure there's something making this completely illogical and impossible but I figured maybe I'd mention it, though I'm sure it's been thought of.
Unless I'm mistaken your unlock is directly related to your phone's iemi number.
I had a feeling that would be the case.

No sir.. the unlock code is unique to each device :-\
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda premium
I've proposed this several times in the last week or so and nobody has paid attention. I've yet to hear somebody say, for certain, what the unlock code is based on and I'm sure that we haven't fully investigated whether the code is really unique or whether that's just what we have been led to believe.
What we should do is start making a table of numbers (IMEIs, Device ID Tokens, Serial Numbers, Unlock Codes, etc) to see if a pattern emerges. Even if it is based on IMEI numbers, if we figure out how the number is arrived at (could it be as easy as md5(IMEI) or something???), we may be able to bypass HTCDev.
Billy
If I was a betting man I'd say the code is heavily encrypted.
Maybe HTC made it simple and easy for us to crack on purpose because they embrace the android community and despise AT&T as much as we do... Never know till you try.

One idea that I've had bouncing around is using the onboard storage as a virtual goldcard. Use it to load a phone image that has unlocked bootloader. I have no idea if such a thing is even possible

But the gold card needs to be separate from the actual storage and be able to be mounted and unmounted at will like a true gold card I would think]

Depending on how they encrypted it... it might not be so hard to work around though.
That said - it's probably public key encryption, with the phone having one half of it.
We really should get a couple examples of the inputs and outputs of HTCDev to look at though - you never know! People smarter than me may be able to deduce a pattern.

SGS4 help

Hello fellow XDA users.
I found a galaxy s 4g today, and I was wondering a few questions.
First off; I can't seem to get into the bootloader. When i hold Top + power it just keeps rebooting the device. Same thing with Bottom + power.
Also: Is there a way to super CID the device? Thank you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_4G is a good place to start.
(I'm not sure what "super CID" is though.)

Super Cid is basically unlocking it so you can use with other carriers.
There is an unlocker thread here somewhere as well, if that is not covered in the wiki. Basically, the SGS4G these days is
Flash a one-click Heimdall installer for root/recovery
Flash a ROM of your choice

i asked around if anyone lost a phone and no one said anything, and i know the school just uses it for their own good if they find it so no point.
I'd bet that the call log will reveal one or more contacts that will recognize the number if you call them.
The carrier also should be able to contact the owner if you give the phone number. Just dial 611 from the phone.

Does it show the carrier? Give them the IMEI; its under the battery.
T-Mobile would be a good place to start even if it doesn't. 1-800-T-MOBILE

That's a good idea. I'll look into it, I don't know why i didn't think of it earlier.
You can place the sim in another phone and see the number as well

OEM Unlock Question

Ok guys i have a question that may be a very stupid one but ill ask anyways. Also know I'm a noob at the g5 and not a genius at all this stuff and I'm assuming you guys have tried everything imaginable.
So while vigorously googling any way to get root on g5 I found this thread.
I'm just wondering if we have found any ways to force the oem unlock option to appear in settings. It might not give us unlock bit maybe a step closer?
Like I said I'm just a noob wondering if anyone has had any luck with this.
Did you read this?
"**NOTE** This software feature might not be avaliable on the carrier based versions of the G4 like, Verizon, Sprint ect."
It doesn't work, of course.

You have to enable "Developer Options" in settings by going to your "about" section then I think its build number or something, click it 5 times and it will enable the Dev Options. Go into Dev Options and there is usually the "Allow OEM Bootloader Unlock" toggle. Some phones dont have that option though in the dev options. so if you dont see in in there, then you wont have it. Even if you enable bootloader unlock, it still has to be able to be unlocked, which Verizon is pretty tight on their bootloaders!

Yeah on Verizon the problem is the setting doesn't show up, in that thread they do a workaround with an activity manager to make it show up which let them enter the bootloader. Thanks for the help tho!

Yes I read this, and if you read the thread I linked, they do a workaround to trick the settings app to think it's a t mobile model. I was asking if anyone has tried a similar workaround.

You sure about that? I thought you needed to adb depixel8 and if so, then how can you get the phone recognized in order to issue adb commands without logging in? To wit, usb debugging in developer options. Now I do suppose you can deny the update but I'm not even sure about that. Doesn't it automatically download and install before you can do anything?
I'm guessing the point is moot because the December update will not block depixel8? We'll know tomorrow.

It has been discussed in the Pixel XL unlock thread. Here is one (well, two really) example. See the last paragraph of the quoted post, and the post itself where the poster states it worked: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69431522&postcount=1043
You don't need to log in to boot the phone.
There are other statements in that long thread where people say they have done this, if you choose to find them. I have not done it myself, so I am just going by what others have said.

Wow what a crazy thread, thanks for keeping me busy for the last 2 hours reading it. December update is out now and Depixel8 is now patched and does not work any longer. I'm still reading that thread and getting conflicting information as to what will happen upon booting either with or without the sim in. I'll come back if I find out anything definitive. I might head over to IRC and ask directly. (doing that now, let's see if anyone answers freenode #googlepixel)
edit: I do believe you can bypass the setup without a sim or wifi. So back to the OP question, I'm not sure when the vzw version will start shipping with 7.1.1 but if you get it with the older patch and you want to unlock you better be careful and get it done right away.

Yeah, JCase is/was very active for a while. Has degraded into the same questions over and over at this point though. I love when a mod comes in and has to clean the thread. Tells me I missed some fireworks. At this point those that don't have the device (Verizon) are starting to freak a little with the Dec update out now. But really if they are that concerned just buy a Google variety and you can always unlock that. I do realize that some people have upgrades etc. and as for me, I paid $240 on the Black Friday deal so I'm stuck. Well not really, but I'm not unlocking so I really don't care what they do with the bootloader.
I presume someone will start a thread about the update, but I haven't received it yet. I downloaded the full ota image but I'll hold off for a few more hours.

Yeah, I got mine on BF, too. But I did go ahead and unlock the BL, after I confirmed the phone worked as expected. I have not changed the recovery or rooted at this point. Just running stock/unlocked for now. I believe that I should still get the OTA, since I'm not rooted and haven't changed recoveries, but we'll see. No sign of it yet.
Booting to twrp and starting a side load will get adb working. Had to do this just the other day to push a file.

How? I'm going to get a replacement pixel tomorrow. I did a few factory resets but I don't remember seeing a way to skip through setup. Right after the activation screen it went to the software update screen. Im gonna factory reset in a little bit but I'm not sure it would help test because I'm already on 7.1.1
Would reallt SUCK if I got a replacement on 7.1 and the setup installed 7.1.1 before I could unlock

[solved] how to tell which anti-rollback version I have?

Hi all!
So I've been tempted to downgrade to MM to try out the dirtysanta ADB root. I heard there are some issues with internal and external storage, but I figured I'd at least give it a shot.
To get the anti-rollback version, I tried calling the number everyone has been throwing around (*#546368#*987#) but it doesn't seem to work (I have VS987 BTW). Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Yeah, I hope they did too. I've been wanting a solution to this for some time.
The fact that this code doesn't work should indicate to you that it isn't version 0. I have the same phone, but it's junk. Bootloader is encrypted with 256bit or similar, meaning it's impossible to modify without the key. Verizon will never unlock it because then you wouldn't have to go through them for hotspot. Trash the phone and get one that actually has root. Sorry.

Sounds like something that should go under its own topic. I don't think trouble connecting to the mobile network has to do with the anti-rollback version.
