SGS4 help - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hello fellow XDA users.
I found a galaxy s 4g today, and I was wondering a few questions.
First off; I can't seem to get into the bootloader. When i hold Top + power it just keeps rebooting the device. Same thing with Bottom + power.
Also: Is there a way to super CID the device? Thank you.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_4G is a good place to start.
(I'm not sure what "super CID" is though.)

Super Cid is basically unlocking it so you can use with other carriers.

There is an unlocker thread here somewhere as well, if that is not covered in the wiki. Basically, the SGS4G these days is
Flash a one-click Heimdall installer for root/recovery
Flash a ROM of your choice

Dont you think it would be a better idea to turn it in and make somebodies day by returning their phone? I do too, glad you agree.

i asked around if anyone lost a phone and no one said anything, and i know the school just uses it for their own good if they find it so no point.

I'd bet that the call log will reveal one or more contacts that will recognize the number if you call them.
The carrier also should be able to contact the owner if you give the phone number. Just dial 611 from the phone.

I can't get into the phone though, it's got a lock on it, I have no idea what the number is, and the emergency call won't call my number.

Does it show the carrier? Give them the IMEI; its under the battery.
T-Mobile would be a good place to start even if it doesn't. 1-800-T-MOBILE

That's a good idea. I'll look into it, I don't know why i didn't think of it earlier.

You can place the sim in another phone and see the number as well

ALL AT&T Tilt users!

Make sure you have Telenav installed on your tilt if you're using at&t. Just in case if it ever gets stolen, at&t can track it down via gps through telenav ONLY. I got my tilt stolen today Didn't have anti-theft/telenav installed on it so I can't get it back. So I'm just warning you guys.

I just learned. Get some good software though. I know most idiots in my town wouldn't know how to use WinMo and uninstall software, but these are programs that can be uninstalled, but can easily track your phone:
TeleNav
VitoFindMe
They work, very well so, but they can be easily uninstalled. TeleNav can even let you see your phone's location via their website.
I do recommend something like:
RemoteAntitheft
Sprite Terminator
These will work very well. I regret not installing remote antitheft after I flashed a new rom to my tilt But things happen. I just hope whoever stole it feels guilty about what he did at some point in his life. I'll be fine >.> I'll get a new one (I didn't get insurance though since in Feb. we weren't allowed insurance on tilts)
Ouch, sorry to hear that Kraize. Hopefully things go better, especially after you get the Fuze. I presume you still plan on that, are you going to get a temporary phone and then the Fuze or get a Tilt for the meantime?
Sorry but maybe its jus me but dont think it would work all to well. Seriously if I got someone's phone, first thing I would do is bacc up any dat that I could off the phone and then just flash it. Especially since I have a notebook could do that anywhere. It's a nice idea but can't see it being really all that useul in my opinion.

You're forgetting, most people who would steal a cell phone don't even know what "flashing a ROM" is.

What's the story... how did you get your phone back?

T-Mobile, Warranty's, Refurbished Sensation!?

Thinking of getting a warranty on my phone, They told me it would cost me 20 dollars, and that I wouldnt be getting a "New" one it would be "Refurbished", I'm alittle outraged by that.. considering I signed on for another 2 years and bought the phone for $265.00.. My power button is sticking and I can't stand it.. is their anything I can do to fix this? The phone works just fine.. Minus the power button..

If its the power button, call HTC and get a new back cover. Tell them about the power button problem and they will send you a back cover free. You can get a 1 time replacement part on every part of our phone from them.

It's worth a try. And if it doesn't solve the problem, you will have a spare (if they don't request your cc number/send your old cover back)

Alright cool, cause from what i see it's attached to the backpanel, maybe some junk got in there, I've tried locking the phone without the panel and it works fine, so it must be the backpanel

That was before someone reported it to HTC as fraud. A bunch of users got one for no reason and someone decided to just tell HTC about it.

How about your parents, or get a pre paid credit card and use that.
yep, after everyone found out you could get a free replacement people were calling HTC to get one even though they didn't need it. Now HTC requires you to put a CC on hold & send in your old one.

[Q] re-locking bootloader?

Is there a current way of doing this? Does the Asus tool do this? Any abd prompts?
I noticed that my tab has pretty bad screen leaks around the outside and want to return it. Thanks

As far as I know there is no way to relock. I read that the devs for the prime tried for a long time to figure it out and never did. Ive had quite a few light bleeders, and finally got a 32gb that has almost none.
And it doesn't matter if you could be able to relock because your serialnumber was send to Asus when you used the unlock tool. So i guess you're on the "unlock" list.

Might just try to return it at best buy, doubt they check it and Asus will just lock it again.
There is a post in the dev section. This project aims to figure it all out. Go here...

Come on! They're the Geek Squad.

Has anyone ever paid Samsung to repair a Hard Bricked Infuse?

If so, do you have any idea how much it will cost? The phone was rooted so I'm fairly certain it's not covered by any warranty.
before you do anything of that nature, what is going on, please explain what happened in as much detail as possible, screenshots would be very helpful. i have"bricked" my infuse countless times, and i've still got it running and working great right now, never had to pay for anyone to fix it or anything, as far as i can tell the infuse is pretty much unbrickable.. so if you would like i would like to try and help you out so you may not have to pay to fix something that may not be broke

Just wanted to update everyone here. I was very honest and upfront with the woman I started my trouble ticket with and told her right from the start that I had rooted my phone and caused my own problems. Well I got an email today from Samsung stating that my phone had been re-flashed and was being shipped back to me today by UPS. All I paid for this service was $2.46 for a box and shipping materials at my local UPS outlet. There was no charge for re-flash or shipping! I will always buy Samsung!!!!! :good:
Now to decide what to do since I now have two working Samsung phones on Straight Talk. LOL! Should I reactivate the infuse with it's currently inactive Straight Talk sim card or just use it for my Google Voice phone number and keep my new phone for network calls...
thats great, really surprised samsung didnt make you pay...
I'm surprised also... quite a deal.
How long from when you sent it out until when you got it back? (just curious).

I haven't actually gotten it back yet. I shipped it out on Monday, They got it on Wednesday and Thursday I got the email saying it was shipped back in my direction. I expect it by Saturday at this rate! Also, I called Straight Talk and apparently I can reactivate my Straight Talk SIM card in it with no extra charge since activated a replacement phone before sending it off and I pay for the unlimited plan. All I'll need is a new number for it since the replacement phone has my existing number and I'll have two working Samsung phones for the price of one phone plan. (I still think the Straight Talk representative was full of caca in that regards. LOL! I'll believe it when I see it!) :silly: Life can NOT be that good or I've just entered the Twilight Zone!
Congratulations man.
Btw it's almost impossible to hard brick lol.
I saw your picture of it and it wasn't hard bricked. Either way it's good their fixing it. Consider yourself very lucky. They usually won't fix that.
You take responsibility when you flash.

Yeah well I wasn't able to figure it out and I felt safer sending it to someone who knew what they were doing. My grasp of tech these days is somewhat impaired by meds that keep me from thinking as clearly as I used to. :silly:

Well in that case I would suggest you stick with the stock ROM from now on. If you are not willing to try to bring it back from an Oh Sh1t! you don't need to be playing with custom ROM's or other mods.

Never said I wasn't willing to try! I said I didn't feel up to the challenge. There's a big difference there. I don't however have any plans to re-root it for now. Maybe if, or when my brain isn't so scrambled by my current medical situation..... Sometimes, the smartest thing a person can do is recognize their own limitations.

Very true words
Thanks to op. As a result of this thread, we all learned another option for recovering from inevitable (if you flash) soft brick. It's probably not the first option for most, but it certainly may be helpful to know there's a backup plan if you just can't get your computer to cooperate with heimdal/odin

Glad I could help! :silly: And really upfront honesty when talking to the person who's creating your trouble ticket with humility and self effacing deprecation is recommended! I was a twat for breaking my warranty and I admitted it and they fixed it. Even if I had had to pay a little for the repairs, it would have been worth it! I have my better camera (With an actual Flash) and GPS device back now! FYI - In case anyone is wondering about the Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy Centura camera, it is only 3 Mega Pixels and has no flash!

Sprint MSL code

I know in the past you needed to get it from Sprint or via a hack.. Just for giggles I went into *#*#3282#*#* and when I went to make a change and it asked for my msl all I did was ender in six zeros and could make changes If I choose. If you choose on multiple options within a menu it will aks for MSL again just enter the six zeros again, and you can make what ever changes you feel suit your needs.
PS don't mess with stuff you have no idea about..
Could this lead to a way to get the bootloader unlocked for those of us leasing the device
Edit : After looking through all the menus, I retract my question

Only time will tell. For now what I would like to see is if somebody can come up with a guide on the benefits of changing anything inside those hidden menus.
I will say this okay. I was very surprised to find that the MSL code was all zeros that never happens.

I've been trying anything and everything I can think of. I don't really care if I need to factory reset. Using the Shortcut Master app I found something in the settings app. It's called "OemDMTrigger". I thought I found something, so naturally I deleted it with adb but I couldn't find any difference, my phone worked fine. I did restore it.
