[Q] re-locking bootloader? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a current way of doing this? Does the Asus tool do this? Any abd prompts?
I noticed that my tab has pretty bad screen leaks around the outside and want to return it. Thanks

As far as I know there is no way to relock. I read that the devs for the prime tried for a long time to figure it out and never did. Ive had quite a few light bleeders, and finally got a 32gb that has almost none.

And it doesn't matter if you could be able to relock because your serialnumber was send to Asus when you used the unlock tool. So i guess you're on the "unlock" list.

Might just try to return it at best buy, doubt they check it and Asus will just lock it again.

There is a post in the dev section. This project aims to figure it all out. Go here...

Just a few noob questions

Good night!
Today I purchased an Asus tablet press tf700 transformer.
Now I come to ask for your help. I'm not new to android. I have an acer liquid for 2 years. however never had an asus and got some doubts. I noticed that there is a newer kernel version. However I could not update it. Because I have to do?
Another doubt I have and unlock on the asus site, which makes this program they warn that it is without warranty?
Just an observation. I have the acer liquid with custom rom, it was enough flashing with original rom was still able to arrange for the guarantee. In Asus not possible to do this?
From already thank you!
P.S. Sorry my bad english!

You do not need to update a kernel, at least not up till now. What do you mean with your remark "could not update it"?

ASUS warns that they MAY retract warranty from an unlocked device. If you make sure to check your 700 thoroughly beforehand and only then unlock, you should be fine.

Excellect reply, only thing to add is try to read around and use the search feature. This plus lots of other related items have been discussed. I do warn you that you will likely end up learning alot and losing track of time. This is how I spend slow days at work (alot of them lately!)

SGS4 help

Hello fellow XDA users.
I found a galaxy s 4g today, and I was wondering a few questions.
First off; I can't seem to get into the bootloader. When i hold Top + power it just keeps rebooting the device. Same thing with Bottom + power.
Also: Is there a way to super CID the device? Thank you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_4G is a good place to start.
(I'm not sure what "super CID" is though.)

Super Cid is basically unlocking it so you can use with other carriers.
There is an unlocker thread here somewhere as well, if that is not covered in the wiki. Basically, the SGS4G these days is
Flash a one-click Heimdall installer for root/recovery
Flash a ROM of your choice

Dont you think it would be a better idea to turn it in and make somebodies day by returning their phone? I do too, glad you agree.

i asked around if anyone lost a phone and no one said anything, and i know the school just uses it for their own good if they find it so no point.
I'd bet that the call log will reveal one or more contacts that will recognize the number if you call them.
The carrier also should be able to contact the owner if you give the phone number. Just dial 611 from the phone.

I can't get into the phone though, it's got a lock on it, I have no idea what the number is, and the emergency call won't call my number.

Does it show the carrier? Give them the IMEI; its under the battery.
T-Mobile would be a good place to start even if it doesn't. 1-800-T-MOBILE

That's a good idea. I'll look into it, I don't know why i didn't think of it earlier.
You can place the sim in another phone and see the number as well

[q] asus me171

Why can not I find anything about root, the Asus tablet me171? Is it really a tablet unrootable
please help
No one really bought the ME171. It wasn't released in many countries and it was outrageously overpriced for a device that wasn't that good or didn't offer anything too great to begin with. I'm not really sure what Asus was thinking when they released that device. Unfortunately, you're going to have a really hard time finding information about that decide.
Find it....i got it.asus me171 root
Finally did it. Quite easy and convenient:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
I'm going to try it. And if it works leave it to the public Tomorrow

I'm ME171 user, and I think it's the best for my life style. Choose from
1. Dual core cpu. Not the best but still cool.
2. Telephone call With 3g.
3. 7" Best size for my phone.
4. memic Bluetooth. Help receive call.
5. HDMI Can use as desktop.
6. 1g ram.
7. Gorilla glass.
8. Simple pen with handle's pack, if u r a remembers man.
No flash light is the only problem I have.
Ps. Just my op.
sorry for my weak english.

Hello and sorry for the delay
Unfortunately, this tablet will satisfy me and I replaced it
With this method you can get to the root. But note that it is very unstable
First download viperMOD PrimeTime v4.1
fallow thishttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23020884
run number 2
If proper steps are automatically performed
* Tablet will restart
If not reset this scrept is failure you had to manually take out protection
go to settings / applications /running and stop the asus sec and google services and push...,And quickly run number 2
after reset update your busy box and super user and install root keeper

I hope I could help:cyclops:

It was a bad tablet
I sold it 2 times already
A few days after the buyer came out to replace it
I see. Probably would have been interesting to have regardless.

Sending for repairs

Hi,
I want to send my unlocked device in to have the dust under the screen removed and the bezel glued down properly. It is 2 months old. My question:
Is there anything i should do or ask or mention before sending it in?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T
Hmm... They will probably try to charge you as you are unlocked
How did you get dust under the screen?
They'll probably change the motherboard, preventing you from unlocking, and charge your for that, too. :silly:

It was there since the day I unboxed it... I'm extremely unhappy with this tablet's build quality... I'll never buy ASUS again... Just a pity it was the last one in stock and I desperately wanted one, otherwise I would've returned it the same day

Why would they change the motherboard? How much would it cost to keep the device unlocked?
Is it possible to lock it myself to save on the costs?

This is called irony. Many 700 owners are unhappy with how their RMAs have been handled.

Nope, unlocking your 700 is impossible without use of ASUS' tool, relocking is impossible without the noble help of ASUS Support.
Do you think they will honour my wishes if i ask them NOT to relock it, even if i have to pay for the repairs?

Why don't you ask them? What have you got to lose?
Sorry mine and Marty's comments were a bit sarcastic. You probably won't lose your unlock status for removing the dust unless they replace the motherboard as part of that process.
I'd ask Asus what is involved first. Don't take our words about what they will or won't do

Indeed my remark was sarcastic -- and sbdags is absolutely right: your lock status will not change as long as they keep their hands off your motherboard. Seeing that your screen is the problem, I'd be surprised if they had to work on that. Even if they do, you'd have a case to take to them and get it fixed.
If the main board in the device is not being replaced to touched, the bootloader will not be relocked. They have no reason to relock it if all you are doing is getting the screen sent cleaned out. Even if the screen was replaced, there's not reason to relock the bootloader. Now, if the main board had to be changed, than yes; new main board = locked bootloader on new one.
Now, I'm not sure where you're from, but here in the US, unlocking the bootloader would void the warranty. Even a defective screen would not be covered once you unlock it. The warranty is taken as whole. I've heard that this is not true in the EU, but I am not 100% sure as I do not know the region's warranty policies.
I would call and ask. And if they can make an RMA for you, it doesn't hurt to request that they do not relock it.

Wow, thanx for this reply straight from the top
I'm from South Africa. I'll have to try my best to speak to a technician directly because here, most of the people that I will have to deal with via phone or email probably don't even know what an "OS" is, if asked
Thanx for the advice
Hey bro,
I made a post on this section about my Tf700 not turning. + my bootloader was unlocked.
I emailed the Asus RMA department for RMA#, they told me that it was 65$ for labour fee + Material charges.
SO i just sent it in, kinda getting mad about dying on me suddenly.
After 2 days, they sent my tf700 back, they locked my boot loader (I thiink. New part # was 90R-Ok0QMB20000Y, Main_BD). Main board?
They didn't charge me anything. They sent it through purolator express for free. Everything free of charge.
I expected to do pay something but it was all free even though my bootloader was unlocked AND email CRS told me that fee was 100%.

Any hope U.S. version unlock?

I am thinking I would like to try the note20 ultra. Do you guys think there is any hope and getting an unlocked bootloader somewhere down the line. Root access is kind of a big deal for me. It would be nice to be able to do that after my 1 year warranty runs out.
Thanks, all.

OK I admit I don't rely understand the process of what they are doing but they aren't monkeys pounding on a keyboard and all of a sudden you're bootloader is unlocked from across the world. They have an application or a key or a key generator, secret Samsung access codes, SOMETHING.
And yes I realize it well never happen, pipe dreams.
