sailfish os - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hi to y'all.
Anyone has the capacity to Port sailfish os for our awesome device. It might be wonderful!!!

It has been done!
EDIT: Check out the development thread HERE
I realise this thread is quite old now, but I don't have enough posts/thanks to create a new one in op6 development section.
I've been porting SFOS to the OnePlus 6 for a few months and have a relatively stable release now if you're interested. Check it out on my GitHub: github dot com/sailfish-oneplus6/sf-enchilada/releases
Currently the only major issue is that it's currently not possible to mark the boot as successful and so every 5 boots the phone will switch slots. For the most part it is usable to daily drive, I've had minimal crashes.
Please let me know what you think.

Hey! You are bad! I loooove Sailfish and you only now say that this exists?:crying::crying:
I love this build, everything is smooth and works well! Almost a daily driver material:good:
Never thought I'd use Sailfish again...!
Love your work and I hope that you continue to build this!
Thank you!
(edit) There seems to be a lag while wakeup sometimes present. Other then that, pretty much everything seems to be working well....

Thank you! I didn't want to post it here until I had something that I thought was good enough for people to use.
I think I know what you mean about the lag, I plan on doing a lot of kernel optimisations which will hopefully help combat this. if you felt like creating an issue on GitHub and including some logs that would be very much appreciated! github dot com/sailfish-oneplus6/sf-enchilada/issues/new/choose.

New update
Hi all, someone has just solved the issue with bootctl, it doesn't seem super important but it now means that I can mark the boot as successful, preventing the bootloader from switching to your other slot after 5 reboots. This is the big milestone I've needed to make a stable release.
I've also fixed the clock patch, the next release will have the clock on the left next to the battery percentage.

Will hopefully be able to make a post in the development section soon.

[KERNEL][TF101] Nvidia 3.1.10 Divemaster --- nearly ready!

Android Nvidia Tegra 3.1 - Codename Divemaster
for
Asus TF101
Welcome to the first pre-alphas of the 3.1 Nvidia Tegra Kernel series.
This kernel is way smoother and faster than any other (2.6.39.4) kernel available.
Guevor's 3.1 kernel is a 2.6.39.4 kernel with few things backported.
I am very proud to finally be able to announce the first public preview of this.
I am the only developer for this (at the moment).
If you want to help me with developing, post in this thread or pm me !
Any help from any kernel developers is appreciated. The updated source is at GITHUB.
Please don't confuse the two commiters; RaymanFX is my GitHub account on Mac OS 10.7.4, skirata is my GitHub account in my virtual Ubuntu system.

Could you take a moment to explain the advantages of the newer drivers over what we have currently?
Just a general question. Isn't this a Tegra 2 Linux 3.1 Kernel? Your thread headline is somewhat misleading...
@ osho741 :
The improvements are countless. Please read the changelog at kernel.org to get an idea.
New drivers deliver more features and better qualitiy.
@Radenam :
No, this is the android-tegra branch right from nvidia, and the different SoCs (tegra2, tegra3) share some common features. This is basically applicible for the tf201 to some point for example.
I just got done flashing it. It is quite snappy, on e the WiFi bug is worked out I will
test it more as there is not a lot that can be tested with it at the moment. Booted just fine on eos jellybean build 60
Agreed very snappy, the wifi almost seems like it wants to connect, under settings the wifi on/off keeps switching back and forth every half a second and it does see my router when its on. im on eos #60 also, few bugs ive found so far:
it seems to power off or freeze when the screens off for more then 10 seconds
Im getting a few random full freezes that require a reboot
also auto rotate isnt working
Nice work,thanks man.

just kidding, all jokes aside, since ICS/JB are truly meant for K_v3+ I look forward to this refreshing the desire of the development community
Looks like I have something new to look forward to. Will be keeping a close eye on this. Great worm so far, will do some in-depth testing once wifi is corrected.

You can test it, RaymanFX said it may work on ics
Everyone seems so excited about this., but what makes it better than guevor's #696?
nice try...
it boots but does not work.
Nice to see that development for our device isnt dead.
Great work!
No offence, I am sure this is super awesome, but I think you made a typo in the thread name - "Nvidida"!
Will try it soon, seems like it could be pretty awesome. Though, I still wish you continued your ROMs, your AOSP build was freakin' awesome
Gd luck for the future.
Will report back later.

AOSP development will be continued due to high user's request
Typo is corrected.
Thanks for letting me know.
I am working hard at the moment to provide the battery meter.
Overclocking support and undervolting is to follow.
Another nice job Rayman, I will be flashing this as soon as the sleep bug is fixed!
I am a little confused, did you+other kernel devs port 3.1, or did you base it off of a nvidia 3.1 source?
Either way, awesome work, and I am looking forward to seeing build #4 of AOSP soon! It's nice that a quickly aging device like this is getting such awesome support .

Call for help!
I want to start an android project to support most of the old and outdated devices. But for that I'm going to need some help.
Android developers who know their code and can write up new features or fix existing bugs.
Talented themers who have an eye for the beautiful and can design some nice UIs
Kernel developers who can read and write code that is pretty much a foreign language for me.
If you think you fit into one (or more) of these categories please contact me (PM, email, twitter, snail mail, etc) and together we shall rule the android world. You will be greatly rewarded for your efforts. Anything I get from developing this thing (which is pretty much nothing) I shall share with you. Kings will envy our wealth and popularity!
But seriously now. Don't be shy and contact me. It could be a great project for some old phones.
You area a wonderful man popdog

For the launcher, you may have to pull trebuchet from cm10, or ask nova or apex if you can include their ICS launcher as a prebuilt. I'd be glad to help out, but I don't have the optimus 1, just the optimus V.

i think for theming you should get help from neko and fundoozz
Nah.. I can fix the launcher. I don't have to replace it. This is just an early Christmas present

Good to see someone working on a Jelly Bean AOSP port..
Hopefully this reaches a stable state as none of them actually did..

Well, times change, priorities change...
Great work popdog!
Lookin forward to this...

Good to see another JB from popdog..
i will try today
Watch out, popdog is attracting all the talented devs to the dark side, and they will rule the android world by making people buy lower end devices that are cheap and good, up-to-date (actually, O1 is still on eMag.ro)
Watch out for the sith (lol android doesn't have this word, it autocorrects)
Don't let Galaxy S3 users find out!!!
But this is great work, thank you for continuing your work

Awesome project right there popdog. You can ask help to me when you want,I've had a hand into ICS and JB AOSP code. So did RockR172,guess he'd be glad to help you too
Well so far I've moved my repos to a github organization, made an irc chatroom, google code for holding downloads and a little blog for documenting the whole process. I'll explain more about it in the weekend.
Please spread the word about this. Together we can make better roms for these devices.
In the meantime enjoy this rom. I'm using it for 2 days now and aside from the issues i've posted I can't say anything bad about it.

where is this github at?
It would be great if this word gets to the top devs of other devices like Gio, Ace, Blade, Mini, X8 etc. Anybody having contacts?
Can always count on popdog123 to bring something different to the game. Will keep an eye on this one, thanks dude :good:
It will be good if the blog that podog has made will have tutorials for newbie users too. And yes...could you provide with us with a link to the blog. I could also help you with that newbie tutorials . If you can make that in time you'll have more support.
Alright... tomorrow i'll send you everyone who was interested in this project a PM on XDA.
The sources for the AOSP build are on the project Github.
Even though the developer turnout was not as great as I expected, we can still make a great project!

OP updated
Improvement, but still laggy
So I followed this guide, first using an RUU to get to 3.18 and then flashing firmware to 5.18. I'm currently on CM12 nightlies, and using this guide I've enabled swap and F2FS (I didn't disable journaling).
Before enabling swap, using just F2FS I found my evita essentially unusable. It was incredibly laggy and would often have delays of > 10s. After enabling swap (and ensuring it is running using $ free), it became much better. The phone is usable now, and though apps often reload they tend to respond much faster and is at times on par with my N5.
This said, there are some things to note. The dialer is especially horrid, and will essentially lag until the phone itself crashes. As soon as a call is made, whether it is kept in the foreground or put into the background it tends to lag like crazy with touch events taking many seconds to be recognized. Most other apps seem to be fine (messenger for facebook seems to have some problems as well, with start-up time and chat heads lagging intensely).
I'm probably going to end up trying PAC-man ROM + F2FS but I wanted to thank you for the guide and provide feedback. Cheers.

thanks for the report!
please do try PAC. it works incredibly well for me, and is my current daily driver.
He replaced the old swap.file with the one you're talking about, so it's on the front page. You will have to delete your current swap files manually though to actually free the space. Switching to f2fs will only improve the effectiveness of swap since it gives you a faster write speed (in theory).

[MOD][4.0+] Matrik

Hello and welcome to Matrik's new official (and pretty barebones) thread! This is where we'll be posting updates and offering help to all who need it! <3
(also this is hopefully going to be where people are sent when people google "Matrik" so they can get the newest versions here ^~^)
Matrik is a Kik mod made with love by the Matirk Devs (listed in-app).
Among other things, it (MatrikX) now supports custom text colors (all other MatrikX users will see your text in a color you select), notification privacy options, "disable typing," "disable message receipts," "disable media forwarding," "disable media saving," and "unlock all emoticons."
History, written by Brainiac:
Brainiac had been a part of groups who were taking down pedophiles and with the help of Pikik at the time used to take over their groups along with his partners, one of these groups were Elemental Guardians. We had been given access to Pikik from Gunther for this reason.
Later Brainiac became part of Bio (kik) which was a branch of Pikik2 and while there had knowledge from members such as Gunther, Bitwise and Matt.
Another member part of Bio (kik) was Brit. Brit and Brain got close while a part of Bio (kik) and as Bio (kik) and Pikik2 at the time was being ended, many devs were talking of making an updated mod kik.
So one day Brainiac suggested a new mod while they were talking and asked would Brit would he come aboard and help with this new adventure Matrik!
So after about 3 weeks of studying how things worked and theming they released the first edition of Matrik.
Soon, others joined Team Matrik like Yami (layouts), Ryan who (added commands like !autoadmin !g google !k kikme) and Lolli who (added !addcom)
And other devs like Bittle (Pokekik dev), Rinn (Batkik dev) Jack (Batkik dev) wanted to make themes off of Matrik, who are now a part of Team Matrik.
Later Squishy was added who done the tedious jobs like Java Escaping.
Then a new mod was being made by the majority of the Pikik Team called Pikek and it was a very good featured mod.
To this day many of the Matrik devs and Pikek devs are friends.
So Team Matrik decided to make a theme of this mod and with the help of Rinn's expertise in looking through encryption and lots of time put in by Brainiac and Rinn, Matrek! was released.
Mostly in Matrik emotes were just being updated.
Then someone named Moon came along and blew minds with what he could do, he added personalized text colors was able to encrypt Matrik so people couldn't use features and use Matrik as a kik base and right now Moon has been left to run the majority of the direction in which Matrik is heading.
He's now currently working on releasing Matrik3, which from tests looks like it's going to be highly used and supported mod.

Indeed! M4 is on its way, slowly. If you're on 3 you should be notified when it's out.
I can't wait for 4 . the android update ruined matrik 3.1 . I'm very happy to hear you're working on it already - thank you !
Do you have a possible release date for M4? I just upgraded to a s8 and it came pre loaded with 7.0
I can't join groups?? I've had this problem before with other modded kiks, but this is very frustrating for me because I love Matrik.
Version 3.1 not working on android 6.0.1
Shouldn't it work with android version 6.0.1??
Been using Matrik3 about a year now. I have come across a bug that occurs when you update the app from within it. When I try to do so, some of my chats become deleted. I am running the latest Matrik3 right now, and when I updated to this version, I lost maybe 25% of my chats. This has been ongoing for the past year.
Please look into this. Thanks

On Android 6 I get this when I open Matrik... Any solutions?

[ROM][DISCONTINUED][NOUGAT] /e/ for Perry/Sperry

/e/
I normally have all my Moto E4 Perry roms over on AndroidForums but I figured since I did /e/ for the G4 Play on here I'd send this one here too.
As always, you take responsibility for what you do to your phone. Don't go filing civil lawsuits against me if your alarm fails to get you up for work in the morning.
The Hell's An /e/?
"/e/ is a non-profit project, in the public interest. We build open-source mobile operating systems that respect users’ data privacy. We’re an international core team of experienced entrepreneurs, developers and designers, and a growing community of contributors." --taken from their website.
Basically think Lineage AOSP but instead of just leaving gapps out of it, they're trying to take it a step further and really give Google the finger. Their ultimate goal for the future is to make a mobile OS featuring an entire /e/cosystem that respects users' privacy and avoids the "big-companies-that-sell-your-data". They will have alternatives to the most popular Google services baked in: F-Droid instead of Google Play, something like Telegram instead of Google Hangouts, BlissLauncher instead of a proprietary Google launcher, etc. As of the time I'm writing this message this is still really early on in the /e/ project though, so don't expect too much just yet.
What Works?
Everything works as of now it seems, thank /e/sus and /e/joice
I got some /e/ themed apps included too like Telegram, Signal, OpenCamera, their custom BlissLauncher, their custom Torch, and a few others I can't remember
Note that encryption does in fact work on this ROM but it's spotty. If you really want it to work you have to IMMEDIATELY go to settings, set your password, and plug the thing in and initiate the encryption process before doing anything else. To me it seems like the longer you wait around or the more other-things you do, the greater your chances of having a failed encryption and needing to factory reset.
What Don't Work?
Package installer is a hit or miss now for some reason
Where's My Source Code, and How'd You Build this?
Don't worry, this took me forever to find too. I used the 0.1 branch which is Lineage 14.1 based. 0.2 is 15.1 Oreo based. Here is the roomservice I used to get this working. All the trees I used for this came from Github user JasonM45 who's also "Jason M." on here (but it wont let me mention his username properly for some reason)
To get the custom /e/ apps in your build you have to edit the portion of vendor/cm/config/common.mk that talks about "Custom CM Packages". Go to /prebuilts/prebuiltapks for a list of folders' names you can add to this list. Note that not everything will add properly, and adding some things may mess up your ROM, so experiment at your own risk.

Who Should You Give a Special Thanks To?
The /e/ team (including but not limited to Gael Duval)
All the boys in the E4 telegram group I'm in, a small but surprisingly strong community
@bcrichster for showing me how to get the /e/ apps to build with the ROM on this thing so I don't have to steal from AOSP anymore
@Jason M. for his fixed trees for the E4, mad props for actually figuring out the audio and Sprint LTE problems with this thing so that we can actually make new, recent nougat ROMs for this thing
@SeanStar for the Moto E4 Plus CDMA LTE fixes that Jasonm took and ported here. Don't think I forgot about you, sean
Thank you for the new ROM!
It's good to see a new ROM is getting developed on this one. And that's one of the reason I still have this E4 ^_^
I will definitely check this out once I get home.

As the download link is now dead, and the GitHub user JasonM45 account unreachable, I am going to try my hand at rebuilding the rom using the same repositories from GitHub user moto8937.
Will post any results.

I just came across your message today. I wish you the best of luck, because JasonM45's sources were the best for this device and had the most fixes. If that doesn't work I think there was a github user called amarc78 or something that also had good trees, if you want check those out too. Just replace everything in my roomservice that's JasonM45 to amarc78. If you need any further help let me know, but it's been years since I built for this phone so keep that in mind too
To give some context I think I dropped /e/ because I found out about some practices that the devs did that I didn't like. But that being said, I don't want to stop anyone else from building it if they so wish so if you do try and get it successful again I'll link you in the OP as the new download link
On top of that, I don't know if Nougat is even still supported so just be aware of that. AOSP iself might have dropped Nougat support last year if I remember correctly
