/e/
I normally have all my Moto E4 Perry roms over on AndroidForums but I figured since I did /e/ for the G4 Play on here I'd send this one here too.
As always, you take responsibility for what you do to your phone. Don't go filing civil lawsuits against me if your alarm fails to get you up for work in the morning.
The Hell's An /e/?
"/e/ is a non-profit project, in the public interest. We build open-source mobile operating systems that respect users’ data privacy. We’re an international core team of experienced entrepreneurs, developers and designers, and a growing community of contributors." --taken from their website.
Basically think Lineage AOSP but instead of just leaving gapps out of it, they're trying to take it a step further and really give Google the finger. Their ultimate goal for the future is to make a mobile OS featuring an entire /e/cosystem that respects users' privacy and avoids the "big-companies-that-sell-your-data". They will have alternatives to the most popular Google services baked in: F-Droid instead of Google Play, something like Telegram instead of Google Hangouts, BlissLauncher instead of a proprietary Google launcher, etc. As of the time I'm writing this message this is still really early on in the /e/ project though, so don't expect too much just yet.
What Works?
Everything works as of now it seems, thank /e/sus and /e/joice
I got some /e/ themed apps included too like Telegram, Signal, OpenCamera, their custom BlissLauncher, their custom Torch, and a few others I can't remember
Note that encryption does in fact work on this ROM but it's spotty. If you really want it to work you have to IMMEDIATELY go to settings, set your password, and plug the thing in and initiate the encryption process before doing anything else. To me it seems like the longer you wait around or the more other-things you do, the greater your chances of having a failed encryption and needing to factory reset.
What Don't Work?
Package installer is a hit or miss now for some reason
Where's My Source Code, and How'd You Build this?
Don't worry, this took me forever to find too. I used the 0.1 branch which is Lineage 14.1 based. 0.2 is 15.1 Oreo based. Here is the roomservice I used to get this working. All the trees I used for this came from Github user JasonM45 who's also "Jason M." on here (but it wont let me mention his username properly for some reason)
To get the custom /e/ apps in your build you have to edit the portion of vendor/cm/config/common.mk that talks about "Custom CM Packages". Go to /prebuilts/prebuiltapks for a list of folders' names you can add to this list. Note that not everything will add properly, and adding some things may mess up your ROM, so experiment at your own risk.
Where's My Download Link?
Right here

Who Should You Give a Special Thanks To?
The /e/ team (including but not limited to Gael Duval)
All the boys in the E4 telegram group I'm in, a small but surprisingly strong community
@bcrichster for showing me how to get the /e/ apps to build with the ROM on this thing so I don't have to steal from AOSP anymore
@Jason M. for his fixed trees for the E4, mad props for actually figuring out the audio and Sprint LTE problems with this thing so that we can actually make new, recent nougat ROMs for this thing
@SeanStar for the Moto E4 Plus CDMA LTE fixes that Jasonm took and ported here. Don't think I forgot about you, sean
Thank you for the new ROM!
It's good to see a new ROM is getting developed on this one. And that's one of the reason I still have this E4 ^_^
I will definitely check this out once I get home.

Wow fresh new roms. Thank you for the Thanksgiving presents
Don't forget to Like, Comment, and Subscribe for more awesome content like this
As the download link is now dead, and the GitHub user JasonM45 account unreachable, I am going to try my hand at rebuilding the rom using the same repositories from GitHub user moto8937.
Will post any results.

I just came across your message today. I wish you the best of luck, because JasonM45's sources were the best for this device and had the most fixes. If that doesn't work I think there was a github user called amarc78 or something that also had good trees, if you want check those out too. Just replace everything in my roomservice that's JasonM45 to amarc78. If you need any further help let me know, but it's been years since I built for this phone so keep that in mind too
To give some context I think I dropped /e/ because I found out about some practices that the devs did that I didn't like. But that being said, I don't want to stop anyone else from building it if they so wish so if you do try and get it successful again I'll link you in the OP as the new download link
On top of that, I don't know if Nougat is even still supported so just be aware of that. AOSP iself might have dropped Nougat support last year if I remember correctly

Long time no see.
Any way there is a new build this one is based on the latest and greatest from CM 7.1. the download link is below.
Spoofed permissions:
READ_PHONE_STATE - You can now make your device return spoofed data from the methods protected with READ_PHONE_STATE permission. There is a demo app

}
you can use to see the effect of spoofing and revoking READ_PHONE_STATE permission. Run the app revoke or spoof run the app again.
Since majority of time spend on READ_PHONE_STATE spoofing was about laying the needed infrastructure for spoofing in general, expect new spoofed permissions shortly.
ROM info:
This is a preview build bases on CM7 nightly builds. Some things may not work some features may be missing.
Some applications may not work properly with revoked permissions.
You can revoke permission of SYSTEM applications!!! DON'T DO IT UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.. However reboot resets the permissions of the system applications so you probably can recover.
If an application is running changing some permissions like say INTERNET will not be fully applied until the application is restarted.
If you come from CM7 nightly or CM7 RCx you probably don't need to wipe. I something is not working do a wipe.
Google apps are not included. You need to download them separately and flash them right after the ROM.
It will probably require ClockworkMod 3.x to flash properly.
You uses it at your own risk and I cannot be held responsible for the consequences.
Some technical stuff:
If an application checks for its permissions it will appear that all required permissions are granted. This is done to keep some ad networks code happy. As far as I've tested this is safe since the permission check is done at the remote end of the call when protected method is invoked. Please report your findings.

This is the extended Manage application screen.

Great patch though Personally I feel this is great addition. Thanks for this! I'll try this and let you know.
new build with data spoofing see the first post.
Neat!
Is this based on something close to nightly 41? There's been a major bug recently, which caused many issues, it's fixen in #41.

Please add this to the CM branch...

This is like current git
Swapping real IDs for the word "spoofed" is quite obvious, and, IMHO, might cause problems if an application stores it as an integer value. Why don't you just return random numbers?
I'm working on something that will generate plausible data from the calling app package name. I'm just too impatient and decided to release it early.
The other thing is that it's bean too long since the last release
And a final request. Please do something with the usability Maybe a dropbox underneath each of the permissions. Best if colored - red for "revoked", yellow for "spoofed" and "granted" without highlighting. Currently, a brief view at the list of permissions totally misses their states.
Yes, I do understand the engine is far more important than bells&whistles, but as for me, the mod is quite ready for everyday use, and I'd be happy to see it more user-faced.

New build... Link in the first post.
Hello,
Searching thru forums, F-Droid already got some mentioning on XDA-Developers, and there may be some posts about it in per-device forums, but I'd really want to start a general thread about which would benefit all Android users.
is a software package repository of Free/Open Source (FOSS) Android software, with strict adherence to Open Source principles and licensing. Which means that we take care that applications included are truly Open Source (so anyone can hack on them any time and share with others), build most of applications included from source (we strive to build all of them), and make sure that you can reproduce the builds we do easily.
What provided are:
On-device client which you may use to browse thru the catalog of available applications based on categories, search for a specific package, install/uninstall a package, see what packages already installed, see available updates, etc.
Source repository with packages recipes decsribing how to build each individual package
Build system for package recipes
Web site with online repository browser
Growing dedicated community wanting to make software landscape of Android better

Mini-FAQ
Q: So, you are mimicking Market?
A: No, we are basing on decades of experience of package management in Unix/Linux OS distribution. What marketing people call "appstores" and "markets" is basing on those decades of experience too, they just focus on different things.
Q: Mwa-ha-ha, you're fools, Market is better, I will keep using it!
A: You're welcome to. We're not really to conquer the world ;-). As any Open Source project, F-Droid is made to scratch the itch of its users. So, if you see issues with Market, if you value Open Source, you will like F-Droid. If not, just keep using Market. Feel free to give F-Droid a whirl though - maybe you'll like it at the end as the second source of apps.
Q: I have some app installed on my device, but saw that F-Droid has newer version and tried to install it. However, it said that it uses different key and said that I should uninstall old version first. Why so?
A: There's some criticism of Android security, but it's not that bad in principle. Consider following example: you found some cool app, liked it, and ended up storing your credit card info in it. Then, on some random site, you find something which claims to be a great new version of your app, but actually an exploit made by some black hat. The message you see is exactly to protect you against such situation: each app is signed with provider's (usually, developer's) key, and if new version of the app is not signed with the same key, Android won't let you to install it as an upgrade, potentially letting a virus to get hold of your valuable data.
Well, as said before, F-Droid builds apps from source, and it is an app provider in this case, so all apps signed with F-Droid keys, not original developer's. That's why you see that message. If you trust F-Droid (you don't have to by word - we offer source code, please feel free to verify), you can backup your app's data if any, remove old version, install F-Droid's version, restore data, and from now on you won't have this issue again - you will be delivered updates right with the F-Droid itself!
Q: How can I help?
A: Sure, we need help! If you like F-Droid, blog a review of it, tweet about new apps added, show it to your friends when meet them on a street. We need app testers and bug reporters, then bug triagers who would separate F-Droid issues from upstream ones. But first of all, we need developers to add more applications to make the project a real difference! Please join us! And if you like F-Droid, but don't think you have enough time or skills to participate in it, you can help with making a donation (links are available on the site).

Call for help!
I want to start an android project to support most of the old and outdated devices. But for that I'm going to need some help.
Android developers who know their code and can write up new features or fix existing bugs.
Talented themers who have an eye for the beautiful and can design some nice UIs
Kernel developers who can read and write code that is pretty much a foreign language for me.
If you think you fit into one (or more) of these categories please contact me (PM, email, twitter, snail mail, etc) and together we shall rule the android world. You will be greatly rewarded for your efforts. Anything I get from developing this thing (which is pretty much nothing) I shall share with you. Kings will envy our wealth and popularity!
But seriously now. Don't be shy and contact me. It could be a great project for some old phones.
You area a wonderful man popdog

For the launcher, you may have to pull trebuchet from cm10, or ask nova or apex if you can include their ICS launcher as a prebuilt. I'd be glad to help out, but I don't have the optimus 1, just the optimus V.

i think for theming you should get help from neko and fundoozz
Nah.. I can fix the launcher. I don't have to replace it. This is just an early Christmas present

Quite expected Best of luck Popdog123!
Good to see someone working on a Jelly Bean AOSP port..
Hopefully this reaches a stable state as none of them actually did..
AOSP GB by lupohirp, AOSP ICS by me..
Well, times change, priorities change...
Great work popdog!
Lookin forward to this...

Good to see another JB from popdog..
i will try today
Watch out, popdog is attracting all the talented devs to the dark side, and they will rule the android world by making people buy lower end devices that are cheap and good, up-to-date (actually, O1 is still on eMag.ro)
Watch out for the sith (lol android doesn't have this word, it autocorrects)
Don't let Galaxy S3 users find out!!!
But this is great work, thank you for continuing your work
Sent from my LG-P500
Awesome project right there popdog. You can ask help to me when you want,I've had a hand into ICS and JB AOSP code. So did RockR172,guess he'd be glad to help you too
Well so far I've moved my repos to a github organization, made an irc chatroom, google code for holding downloads and a little blog for documenting the whole process. I'll explain more about it in the weekend.
Please spread the word about this. Together we can make better roms for these devices.
In the meantime enjoy this rom. I'm using it for 2 days now and aside from the issues i've posted I can't say anything bad about it.

where is this github at?
It would be great if this word gets to the top devs of other devices like Gio, Ace, Blade, Mini, X8 etc. Anybody having contacts?
Can always count on popdog123 to bring something different to the game. Will keep an eye on this one, thanks dude :good:
It will be good if the blog that podog has made will have tutorials for newbie users too. And yes...could you provide with us with a link to the blog. I could also help you with that newbie tutorials . If you can make that in time you'll have more support.
Alright... tomorrow i'll send you everyone who was interested in this project a PM on XDA.
The sources for the AOSP build are on the project Github.
Even though the developer turnout was not as great as I expected, we can still make a great project!

We are very excited to announce the alpha of Paranoid Android Sapphire, based on Android 12.
On the first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands for itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhance the overall user experience. You can find all of the Paranoid Android wallpapers and many more in the Abstruct app from the PlayStore.
Our builds are based on the Code Aurora Forum Android base, which is optimized for Qualcomm platforms and has a higher degree of performance, battery life, and functionality compared to the Android Open Source Project platform. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features, performance, and stability. We are dedicated to providing a user experience with the stability that you can expect from stock ROMs with best-in-class performance and features to help you get the most out of your device.

is there a chance for a full translation into Polish? there is a lot of text in the settings not translated into Polish. It's a pity, because the rom at the moment is definitely the best and runs very smoothly.

This rom has support for OTA updates. If you plan to stick around with PA, your feedback will be appreciated on our new OTA system. We're consistently testing full and incremental OTA updates.
Key Features
- Face unlock support
- A slew of Pixel exclusive features
I think your link goes to the Pixel 6 Pro (raven) page. While I'm running my unofficial LOS builds on a 7 (panther) and probably won't flash AOSPA, I don't see Pixel 7/7 Pro builds on your site.
Yeah the link does go to raven builds and no PANTAH is showing as available at all on your website yet. I have just noticed the builds are available on Telegram though
Fixed, the website didn't get updated until the threads were posted
thanks for sharing
Wow! Many thanks to the team. I'm going to test
Been a really really really long time since I've used Paranoid Android, might've been the Nexus 6P days, so I'll definitely give this a shot shortly.
Edit: So far, everything just works. 1080p is janky with the fingerprint sensor, so turn your display to 1440p and it'll work fine. Apart from that, yeah. Everything just works really. Nothing really stands out or is anything like when they first rebranded, but it's also a first release. Just clean and polished.
For those not sure how to flash, I used the fastboot version, flashed stock, booted into bootloader, fastboot update aospa-topaz-beta-1-cheetah-20221119-image.zip and it'll handle the rest.
Is calling and 5g support working?

We have a few pretty cool things like Face unlock and full fledged OTA support atm but we're more focused on establishing the basic necessities for now, but we do have some innovative stuff in the pipeline, just takes time to work on. Glad everything is working for you (ill probably make 1440p the default until i sort out whatever that is with fp in 1080p).
Hello PA allow 32 bit app ?
can you please provide more info on features? how is it different from the stock rom?
