OP updated

Improvement, but still laggy
So I followed this guide, first using an RUU to get to 3.18 and then flashing firmware to 5.18. I'm currently on CM12 nightlies, and using this guide I've enabled swap and F2FS (I didn't disable journaling).
Before enabling swap, using just F2FS I found my evita essentially unusable. It was incredibly laggy and would often have delays of > 10s. After enabling swap (and ensuring it is running using $ free), it became much better. The phone is usable now, and though apps often reload they tend to respond much faster and is at times on par with my N5.
This said, there are some things to note. The dialer is especially horrid, and will essentially lag until the phone itself crashes. As soon as a call is made, whether it is kept in the foreground or put into the background it tends to lag like crazy with touch events taking many seconds to be recognized. Most other apps seem to be fine (messenger for facebook seems to have some problems as well, with start-up time and chat heads lagging intensely).
I'm probably going to end up trying PAC-man ROM + F2FS but I wanted to thank you for the guide and provide feedback. Cheers.

thanks for the report!
please do try PAC. it works incredibly well for me, and is my current daily driver.

He replaced the old swap.file with the one you're talking about, so it's on the front page. You will have to delete your current swap files manually though to actually free the space. Switching to f2fs will only improve the effectiveness of swap since it gives you a faster write speed (in theory).

{Feature Request}<--Where would this post go? Here??

This is a feature request for any rom that would want to implement it. Most roms, Carbon, Liquid, Nameless, and some TW rom's (4.3's) have a form of it already.
Network Traffic in the status bar.
This is a very handy feaure when you can read it. That's the problem especially on ROM's which have both up and download speeds shown at the same time on two different rows. I know this takes up much less space, but if you can't readily read the data, it doesn't do much good. I'm on a much cheaper verizon data package plan like 250MB, and I might go up but I'm trying to save every penny I can. There's a lot of public wifi available anyway. I like to glance it at perodically to see how much data is being used when I'm not and when I am using wifi. Wifi to check speeds overall, and on data to make sure stuff ain't downloading a ton to keep both mine and another smartphone in check.
Anyway, ROM's which display download only I currently prefer simply beause it's one speed and the font size is much larger.
But I'd prefer to see both as although I use download speed a lot, up speed is nice to know too, for uploading and sending large messages / email, upload of files, and to see if the phone is uploading something I might not need to be like a rogue app.
Xposed has a module that a new guy has taken over that shows network speed and gives you the option of how many rows you want to use for network speeds. There's other ways too, I think there's an app in the store, and I'm almost certain there's widgets, again, both are nice, but having it in the status bar is just awesome sauce on the kitkat or jellybean.
With the Xposed module: You can also select things like:
display the unit you prefer, or none
IF both are one row you can make the font larger so you can easily read both and are squinting
Change the color of the font
A ton of other things some nice, some unnecessary, a really nice xposed module.
I am forty years old have had three eye surgeries between 3-5 years of age, but was told I'd start needing glasses for reading when I reached my thirties. Well, I'm going on 40, and the eye's ain't what they used to be. And they've never been great, but I never needed them to read for about the last twenty years, after having worn glasses for 15 years after the sugeries, the doc told me I really didn't need them anymore and wouldn't need them until I got a bit older.
Anyway, I hope this is the place for something like this. I like a lot of different roms, and although I'm on one rom now mostly, I'd like to see this at least in the rom's that currently have such a feature. Because, at least for me, even with glasses, I have a hard time reading the double row up and down speeds provided by roms like beanstalk (most recent kitkat builds, the earlier builds only had down speed which was readable), carbon, liquid, and many roms, TW included, already have a readable download speed but no upload speed. I rather have it like this if it's not changable, but if it's changable:
Id like to see single row network speeds both up and down. Maybe 2 digits like 2.2GB/s etc. With or without the units.
If there's anyway anyone can implement, I for one would appreciate it. If it's something ridiculously insance to do, perhaps I can help, but although I'm no dev, I might be able to get it working by comparing code, but the font size I'd think would be changable somehow.
Thanks.
griz

[Q] security: chronologically keep track of all my apk installs

I recently received another scammish text which led me to suspect an app or apk I installed was to blame (possibly). Is there a way to chronologically see things I've installed on my phone. Stock Downloads app won't work because if I deleted the apk or installed it in a different way it won't show. There should be a way to see all of the things you've installed non market, apks, modules, or whatever. To be able to trace back and find a culprit. Kinda like a criminal rap sheet.
Your best bet is TITANIUM BACKUP !!! Sort all apps by date installed it will give you time installed !!!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
No. I want something that can chronologically list on my phone all of those things that I've installed or modified or installed then deleted. Like a total history of installs.

Past package installations, probably not. Future installations, maybe.
you're getting on the right track sir. Like having a time machine where I can go back in look a the things that have happened so I can pin point possible problems.

Last time machine I had was in '68. Wasn't worth a damn. Thing always broke at the worst times. I'm still trying to get back. I'd suggest not putting things on your device that might cause problems.

That's good advice to give about my device, from someone that can't take care of a 46 yo time machine. I need a way to log all installed/uninstalled apps, apks, modules, and /system changes. Where's it at?

Please elaborate....
Haven't heard of such a thing. Sorry.
Titanium can tell you app installs, even play store kinda keeps track. Initial install order anyway.
But to track apps, mods, alterations...anything? Nope. And flashing in recovery would not be trackable inside the O/S anyway.
---------- Post added at 11:07 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:06 AM ----------
Basically, if there isn't some kind of a thing on the play store....then it doesn't exist.
Scam texts are pretty common in some countries. I don't think it has anything to do with an app you installed unless you gave Snapchat your phone number as they got hacked a while back.
No snap chat for me. I thought of this idea for logs of this stuff before. There's got to be a way!

If you made an app to log package installs it would be a waste of time + have to be running on your device all the time. It'll also hardly be of any use, since most people aren't installing like 20 apps a day, every day. Just write it down if you really need to LOL.
For packages you currently have installed via Play or .apk installation you could go into /data/app and look at the dates on the .apk files. If you flashed something in recovery it'll show up as August 1 1970 or August 1 2008 or whatever generic date. As said previously, Titanium Backup uses this if you sort by date lol.
Edit, example (most mine are 25 July since I restored them through Titanium Backup):

GPS functionality
The 20141014 build seems to have issues resolving GPS signals versus 20141010 and prior.
I can only "lock" signal under clear skies and no cover with the new build.
Prior builds, rooted TouchScreen builds and the "stock" builds have no issues finding /locking GPS under cover (within reason anyhow, effective Faraday buildings notwithstanding), e.g. while sitting at my desk.
Even as little shelter as my car provides "blocks" signal for the 20141014 build, but not for the others as mentioned above.
Hopefully this can be fixed in the next release along with the vibration bug.
No issues whatsoever with GPS lock on 10/14 build. This is from the bottom floor of a three story brick condo. Agreed that vibe not working though.

With all this great work, providing CM11 on the P900; does that mean we may one day see CM12 for this machine? i.e. will the P900 become a fully supported member of the CM family?
First off thanks for the much needed custom rom! I am very greatfull!
Here are some issues i am having
1 . printing to myhp printer doesnt work properly on cm i tried installing hp app but it dosnt find the printer a lot of the time, and on stock it wrked flawlessly, also on stock when i printed a photo from galary i had both hp print option and a red samsung logo print option that had more capabilities such as greyscale and resizing , now there is no samsung option ,i reallyvlikevthat samsung printing so i tried installing samsung print from playstore but it doesnt connect to the hp printer and its not what was on stock cause there is no red logo option when i print from galary.
2. How do i extract snote from stock nandroid backup to install on cm i tried com.snote blah blah and it didnt work if someone could point me to the apk that would be great
3. Cifs/samba kernal support for mounting windows shares to the local filesystem, Could someone release a kernal supporting cifs or a kernal module i feel it is appropriate function for this tablet , was surprised samsung had not included it for thier " productivity tablet"
Camera is not working on my device (P900).
"Cant connect to camera" or something.
Otherwise runs fine.

No. P900 only, must have Exynos CPU.
Newest CM11 Build
Had the latest build and am experiencing no camera functionality and longer boot times. But, the ROM is otherwise stable and smoother than Touch Wiz.
This is on the P900 also.
whats about the battery life?
And could anyone post a antutu score?
thank ya
I am loving my note pro like never before. Thanks to all who have worked on this.
Question: I am only able to connect to my 2.4 ghz part of my router not the 5G speed. I have installed the extra kernel with VT. Should I flash original kernel?
ROM "Flavors"...
I have to agree with bonuzz's "Option #2" - less frequent updates (barring bugfixes), stable versions, maintain good battery life.
If you decide to support only one or two flavors of AOSP ROM, I'd vote for CM, followed by Omni.
While custom kernels are always great - as long as I can set the included kernel to "ondemand", I'm a pretty happy camper.
Thanks!
Hi everybody
Now that my SM-P900 works again (the touchscreen functionality was broken) I would love to be able to play some SNES/N64 ROMs on that huge tablet.
Unfortunately I had to realize that my XBOX 360 Controllers doesn't work with this CM11 version.. after asking Google I found out that it may be caused by the not loaded xpad.ko kernel module.
Is there a way to load it manually? Or do I have to recompile the ROM with the module enabled? If yes, how to do this?

Battery life is about 6-hr SOT, mixed lighting
I don't believe in benchmarks when comparing ROMs
Increase Volume?
Is there any way to increase the volume? The sounds, media, ringtones, etc sound really low even when they are at the maximum level.
Missing Options From Menu
So far loving this rom. However, I can't find the "Stylus Gestures" or "Show icon when using stylus" under the Language and input category. When I search the menu they are list as results, but they are not actually in the menu. Am I missing something?

[APP][4.1+] ACalc - an open source calculator

ACalc calculator is a calculator application which will save a lot of your time by speeding up routine operations. You don't need to remember results of previous calculations or use MR buttons like in other calculator applications anymore! All your calculations are right on the main screen and you can connect them with each other. Calculator updates connected values automatically. It's ideal to calculate bills, percent and other kind of calculations which need a lot of dependencies. Calculator has a beautiful interface and very easy to use.
App in Google Play: download
Application is open source now. Here is the link to github: GitHub
It also uses math expression parser library I wrote for it: download

Yes it is... back to normal after uninstalled...very strange indeed. I did try it with 3 different launcher and it is force closed every time, and yes, it is rooted.
Lemme give it another try..
Edit : reinstall, still give me force close, uninstall again, went back to normal. I suspect that it might consume too much memory, just a wild guess though, can you check?

Just checked it and looks like memory is not the reason because the consumption is around 8 m. So I assume that it's something wrong with your firmware maybe.

sailfish os

Hi to y'all.
Anyone has the capacity to Port sailfish os for our awesome device. It might be wonderful!!!
It has been done!
EDIT: Check out the development thread HERE
I realise this thread is quite old now, but I don't have enough posts/thanks to create a new one in op6 development section.
I've been porting SFOS to the OnePlus 6 for a few months and have a relatively stable release now if you're interested. Check it out on my GitHub: github dot com/sailfish-oneplus6/sf-enchilada/releases
Currently the only major issue is that it's currently not possible to mark the boot as successful and so every 5 boots the phone will switch slots. For the most part it is usable to daily drive, I've had minimal crashes.
Please let me know what you think.

I think I know what you mean about the lag, I plan on doing a lot of kernel optimisations which will hopefully help combat this. if you felt like creating an issue on GitHub and including some logs that would be very much appreciated! github dot com/sailfish-oneplus6/sf-enchilada/issues/new/choose.
New update
Hi all, someone has just solved the issue with bootctl, it doesn't seem super important but it now means that I can mark the boot as successful, preventing the bootloader from switching to your other slot after 5 reboots. This is the big milestone I've needed to make a stable release.
I've also fixed the clock patch, the next release will have the clock on the left next to the battery percentage.
